Induction process for new staff An induction won’t happen all at once, it will take between three to six months. It includes a mix of documents to read; meetings with key individuals; and attending training. Together, these should give you a good idea of our organisation and how your role fits within it. 1. Meeting with your line manager: This could be face to face or virtual. This should give you the opportunity to ask questions about anything that still feels unclear. Here you can also share initial thoughts about what you can offer. Your manager will: -
Welcome you Talk through the induction process Outline expectations Discuss day to day working Update you on any relevant organisational information Explain the organisation (including current key goals, challenges and focus areas)
2. Meet key staff members: Meet staff to learn more about the charity’s current priorities and to gain an overall picture of how the charity works. Who you meet will depend on your area of interest and roles within the organisation. You will also be invited to all Odd Arts Drop Down Days (these are usually once per month for staff training, wellbeing and creative risk). You do not need to attend these but we would encourage you to do this once per year to get to know the wider Odd Arts team better. You will be talked through how our systems and processes work such as time-sheets, expenses, scheduling etc etc.
3. Observe current pieces of work and programmes: This might be done through observing workshops, rehearsals, showcases, performances, projects and events. This is really important to you grasping the overall picture of Odd Arts and how your own monitoring and delivery coordination feeds into it.
4. Undertake training: It is important you understand and live the values and approaches of our organisation: Anti-Racism
