As I look back over the last few years and how far Oasis Montage Magazine has come, I thank God that Oasis Montage is Reloaded and Bridged the Gap in the community with positive changes. Oasis Montage is finally settled in Atlanta; a city where fashion, arts and entertainment are welcomed. The Grand Opening of Oasis Montage was at their new arts center in Fayetteville, Georgia. The new staff of editors are creative and bring a refreshing look to the magazine. When attending events, taking pictures and interviewing artist, it is amazing to see the bond they have as a team and with celebrity artist. In this Oasis issue, you will enjoy reading how Keith David not only sings and acts, but how the Greenleaf preacher feels about preaching. You will also find articles on R&B singer, Glenn Jones who talks about the connection of love and an article on getting yourself in order. In the music industry, take a look at the amazing artists: Ashley Perrymond and the writer, producer and 91.1fm owner, Ty Juan. Don’t forget to take a look at the array of beautiful fashions at the Trumpet Awards and eye catching designs by Sharon Gill. Recently, God blessed Oasis Montage with a great marketing team; Sisters-In-Motion. This team of marketing professionals are helping to take Oasis Montage on a successful journey. With the new ISSUU online outlet and Itunes App by Apple, the Oasis Montage Magazine can now be viewed through E-Book and delivered at your doorstep. Introducing:

K

Kim Whitner

Kimberly began working in the medical field almost immediately after high school. She loved nurturing and taking care of the patients. She devised a plan to join the Military which would provide the opportunity to travel while training to be a nurse. During her first enlistment, she was injured and became pregnant so she opted to discharge and raise her son. After more than 22 years working in the medical field and over 10 years in supervisory/managerial positions, Kimberly decided there was something missing and it was time to search for another career that catered to her innate passion for supporting and advocating for people. On her quest for self-actualization, Kimberly was led to write a book titled “Shattered Innocense” which was instrumental to her progression towards fulfillment. Although the book was published, for her it served as a catalyst for unmasking her true self. Muted voice and smiling always were the chosen methods to cope with inner turmoil due to experiences of sexual abuse. If it is possible to be an expert at smiling while hiding all pain on the inside, she would certainly qualify. After much contemplation, she decided to become a therapist. She received a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling in February 2013 all while recovering from homelessness and going through a divorce. She currently resides in Jonesboro, Georgia with her husband and two awesome boys. Kimberly spends her leisure time volunteering in the community and with veteran’s organizations, traveling, and speaking to victims of sexual abuse. Kimberly openly expresses her extreme excitement of contributing to the mission of positive life change for many. Giving all Honor to GOD, she found her voice and now uses it to be the voice for those who otherwise wouldn’t be heard!!!!! An original Georgia Peach, Mother, Wife, Virtuous Woman; Kimberly has overcome many trails and stands EXCITED about her future!

Essence Festival

When I opened this Oasis Montage magazine, I loved all the pictures of the Essence Festival. I have always wanted to go and I loved the warehouse that was full of Mardi Gras statues. They were beautiful. After watching the movie Girl’s Talk, which was hilarious, and after looking at all the pictures of celebrities in Oasis Montage Magazine, I definitely plan on going to the Essence Festival in 2018. Rose Leabough, Richmond, VA

Sisters

I was excited when my magazine came in the mail. The story about the Sisters really touched my heart. Domestic violence is an ugly disease. Yes, I said a disease. Men don’t realize how one push, shove or mean word can scar a person’s life. It’s hard to bounce back and live a normal life after the tragedy of abuse. It was joyful to see that women

It’s amazing how this magazine explores so many different topics. I truly loved the article about Mr. James Horton. That man is amazing. He has done it all and seen the change in history. He tells all the stories that many of us didn’t even know about. I look forward to reading his book. The person that wrote the article did an awesome job because she kept you glued to the story. It was like you were on a tour, a journey through time. The things this man has collected in his museum is phenomenal. Hats off to this article. I love history and I want to make a trip to the Sights and Sounds Museum when I come to Atlanta. Shelly Taylor, Kansas After I read this article and visited the museum, I found Mr. Horton to be a kind, loving and caring man. He has such a passion to educate men, women and children about their history. His mind-blowing stories were proven to be true by all the exhibits he has collected. He takes you from Egypt to President Obama. It’s hard to believe all the things he has seen in Selma, Alabama. Mr. Horton is a true Historian. Atif McQueen, Sedalia, MO were honored at the Resilient Beauty Masquerade Ball. They no longer have to wear a mask that covered their hurt, shame and bruises. Oasis Montage is a refreshing magazine with real talk. Inger Guinn, Louisville, KY

The Trinity Awards

The Trinity Awards caught my eye. For years I have been working with youth and young men because I have a passion to help them go from boys to strong men. I have always wanted to know how to be a non-profit organization and after reading the article, I plan on really reaching more children to make a difference in their lives. Thanks to the article about the Trinity Awards, now I know who to contact to start my organization. I hope to one day attend the Trinity Awards George Johnson, Tampa, FL

Estate Planning 101 By Dana M. Scott

W

We all hope to live well into our golden years with our loved ones, not worrying about such pesky things as wills, power of attorney, trusts, long-term health care, and funeral plans. However, all adults should take proactive steps to protect their assets, create a will, and make their last wishes known to family members and their main doctors. These decisions can be difficult, but planning can provide more comfort and preservation of one’s savings vs. making decisions when one is chronically ill, incapacitated or passed away. A good financial plan should include: • A monthly budget with income and expenses • A budget for large capital expense over a three-to-fiveyear period • A review of health insurance plan(s) for what is covered and what is not • An overview of all assets and debts • Choosing someone to handle finances and decisionmaking in the case of in-capacitation due to an illness or accident

8 OASIS/Montage October • November 2017

Plan ahead by meeting with a financial advisor and an estate planning elder and or lawyer. This is to ensure all important legal documents have been executed such as: Durable power of attorney, healthcare surrogate, power of attorney, living will, a will or a trust. Know who your loved one’s advisors are and encourage open communication. Place your legal documents in a location that your loved ones can easily find. This will allow them to have discussions about these documents prior to a crisis. Offer outside assistance with someone your loved ones are comfortable letting you help. When a debilitating illness or incapacitation arises, consider the wants and emotions of the loved one needing assistance. If legal documents have been executed, follow the directions. It is also important to discuss your wishes or the wishes of your loved one so it is easier to make the hard decisions as needed. Take time to work on organizing and simplifying, to cut down on the stress of dealing with financial and estate matters during caregiving and after death. Pre-plan funeral arrangements or at least talk to your loved ones about their wishes..

Creative Block—What to Do?

DMS Creative Solutions: Dana Scott

Words and Art by Gabrielle Fluker

H

Have you or a loved one ever experienced these symptoms? Sighs of disappointment. Long moments of staring at the ceiling. Literally screaming into the abyss. If so, you or your loved one may be experiencing a creative block. Whether you’re an artist, writer, actor, or paint enthusiast, we have all experienced this at one point or another. You are not alone. Now usually, people combat creative blocks with procrastination. But it’s probably the worst possible thing you can do, second to giving up. Why do people still do it? Their rationale is that if they put it off till later, they’ll eventually get back to it with new ideas. Newsflash: that’s not usually what happens. Procrastinating enables people to forget what their trying to achieve or even to more procrastinating. Both are counter-intuitive. Don’t feel bad though, we’ve all procrastinated. Many a project has fallen victim to the dreaded but often repeated phrase, “I have time.” But now that you know people share in your misery, how do you move forward? Take a short break. Calm down, take your mind away from it and during that time participate in doing something that inspires you. Look at other people’s artwork, listen to music, read a book, talk to people, take a walk. Do things that will progress you further in whatever venture you’re trying to build. You can take inspiration from anything. The sky, the ground, trees, some guy’s face, literally anything. But that’s what’s most important, to stay inspired. Once you find that thing that inspires you, use it. Use that inspiration to finish drawing that picture, writing that book, acting out that screenplay, or watching that paint dry. That’s the key to preventing creative blocks. That’s the key to staying creative.

It’s Alive

The Art of Thomas Blackshear

The man Thomas Blackshear is a phenomenal AfricanAmerican sculpting artist. When he created his first piece of art; an old man praying, he caught the world by attention because the man’s face appeared as though it was real. You wanted to touch it to see if it was alive. Blackshear created the old man praying in 1987 while living in the Manitou Springs mountains of Colorado. When meeting Blackshear after his first exhibition of the old man praying, Blackshear says, “I was only 32 years old when I first made this piece and I chose to live in the mountains where I could concentrate and that is where I found peace and quiet. I needed to concentrate and trust God to step out on faith as an artist. Being an artist is my passion so I had to find a way to make art my business.” The praying man is a finely designed sculpture and it is a limited edition. Blackshear signed each edition along with signing the authenticity paperwork. The old man praying was so unique because every detail and fine line of the facial feature was as though the sculpture was alive. Since that first sculpture, Blackshear has also designed illustrations for numerous postage stamps issued by the United States of America. Blackshear’s Black Heritage works were premiered in 1992 at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. Blackshear’s line of sculptures; “Ebony Visions,” are an array of magnificent sculptures that are not only uniquely crafted, but every facial feature of a smile and wrinkle is skillfully crafted. Blackshear sculpture is not only beautiful, but when you touch it you are mesmerized; as though it is Alive.

The Journey

Oasis Montagé Celebrates Reaching Beyond the Magazine By Carolyn Moore Photos by DMS Creative Solutions: Dana Scott

While taking a spiritual walk on the beach, the sky is clear and the ocean is turquoise blue. As the seagulls pass you by, there are footprints in the sand that all belong to you. The prints are the new journey of Oasis Montage guiding you through. In deep meditation, you realize these footprints are all brand new Some have said, “Why do you work so hard, this is silly.” Take a closer look and you’ll see a new journey of peace and tranquility.

2

2010 was the start of the Oasis Montagé Magazine. The magazine “that takes you on a lifestyle journey into fashion, arts, entertainment, health, beauty, fitness and cultural views.” In 2010, the Oasis Montagé staff consisted of 5 women: Carolyn Moore, Wendy Johnson, Gwen Moore, Brandi Bazinet and 1 male, Lance Robinson; all of Fayetteville, NC. This staff had no idea where they were headed and how to make their dreams a reality, but they did it. After the first publication and an interview with Shemar Moore, the journey began. It was the lights, cameras and action that took the Oasis Montagé journey into reality. Even though I as the Founder encountered military moves, Oasis continued to grow.

In 2015, the founder made a final move back to Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta is where the founder managed Upscale Magazine and learned the publishing business. Thanks to Linda Horton, The NonProfit Lady, I established a 501c3 and started my non-profit organization, Oasis Montagé Ministries. When Oasis Montagé was blessed with a building from Gospel Community Church, Oasis Montagé had their grandopening. The Ribbon Cutting ceremony not only included Oasis Montagé staff but also Fayetteville, Georgia’s Mayor, Edward Johnson and Former Candidate Commissioner, Pam Reid. Today’s creative Oasis Montagé editorial team consists of: CEO/Founder Carolyn Moore, Managing Editor, Kim Whitner, Entertainment Editor, Takessa Walker, Health Editor, Tiffany Curwen, Fashion Editor, Debbie Lewis, Art Editors, Sharon Bourgeois and Gabbie Fluker, Senior Editor, Thelma Thompson and Outside Editor P. Adnita Williams. The Oasis Montagé photographers are: Lead Photographer, Dana Scott and Art designer, Michael Angelo Chester. Michael is the magazine’s Art Designer of every quarterly issue of Oasis Montagé. Michael is also the founder that helped me create the name of the magazine, Oasis Montagé. In May of 2017, Kim Whitner and Moore partnered to start a Performing Arts Summer Camp for children. The camp also consisted of teachers and youth counselors. The summercamp field trips consisted of trips to the Martin Luther King Center, movies, swimming, and skating. The camp not only taught modeling, acting, dance and art but a bullying prevention program was implemented. The bullying prevention program included a stage play called, Genie in Dreamland written and produced by Gabbie Fluker and I. At the production, the guest speaker was Fayetteville’s County Commissioner, Charles Rousseau. Oasis Montage started a community food pantry servicing Fayette County community.

Grand Opening The performing Arts Center continues to produce stage plays and events. In February, 2017, Oasis Montagé produced and wrote the NAACP ‘s Black History program. This event received great reviews and made the front page of the Fayetteville Georgia’s Newspaper. Oasis Montagé has several upcoming state plays scheduled. They are: “Women Shoptalk while Real Men Wait,” starring “NBC’s Voice” finalist, Michelle Thompson-Williams on Saturday, October 7th and a Christmas play, “The Gift of Giving,” starring, “R&B Blackstreet” group singer, J-Stylz on Saturday, December 16th. Oasis Montagé has a dinner soap opera stage play called, “The Love Café.” “The Love Café” is performed every 3rd Saturday at 8:00 p.m. “The Love Café” can also be heard on radio station, “Power 91.1FM.” The show has raving reviews and it is aired every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

The Gifted Alcoholic

E

Each day, many parents prepare their children for a positive experience in school. With the expectations of positive behavioral experience, academic success, and peer interaction, parents release their children into the hands of the educational departments in hopes for a bright future. In all of the preparation, packed lunches, clean clothes, parents often believe that there is no way anything could change the dynamics of their well laid out plans. Mary’s parents had chosen to live in one of the “Best Places to live in the United States of America.” Mary had been afforded a top of the line education with all of the bells and whistles. Her school had the best in technology, and a gifted education. Mary was identified as an “exceptional” musician in elementary school. Her parents introduced her to various musical instruments in extra-curricular programs. It was almost immediately that they knew there was something special about her. Mary had a perfect opportunity for as a student to learn. Mary was a good kid. She excelled academically and participated in the Gifted Program since she was in elementary school. She did well and was exceptional in all areas. Everyone in school knew her, and they were amazed at how quick she learned. With all her gifts and talents, she’d been afforded success which was on her horizon. In her middle grade years, life took a drastic turn. Mary’s loving parents that used to inhabit her home began to disagree. Every aspect of her “seemingly perfect” world grew into an internally shattered and crumbled façade. Her mom and dad could not put it all back together. Divorce was eminent and the perfect party would end. Mary, in knowing that there was no perfect resolve to her situation, turned to her friends. She had already begun drinking. Her friends had already praised her for how “smart” he was. Their comments and thoughts about her “courage” and “sly moves” around the teachers, were just plain ingenious. Her behavior had slowly changed, and she turned to her best support system. Realistically, she only knew good kids and they were all cut from the same cloth. They were clean and of an impeccable neighborhood with great schools. They even all were church goers. There really was nothing wrong with what they sometimes did for fun and recreation. There was nothing wrong with having a little bit of beer, rum and gin on the side. This was something that all the school children did. No one knew about the yelling, arguing, and fighting between her parents or that they were leading to a divorce. She couldn’t risk anyone knowing what was happening. While hiding her home life, Mary began drinking more and more. She started with her buddies, but quickly she was unable to control the amount of her own drinking. Her father’s screaming and name-calling at her mom only made Mary more angry and nervous. Mary went to school, performed as normal, and sipped on the side. Walking into class a “bit tipsy” was not a real concern to her teachers. With there being so many children, there was no way that the teachers would have time to “notice. When Mary nodded off to sleep the class, or submitted an assignment late, teachers found it not to be a big deal. Mary watched the chaos and confusion unfold around her in her glassy-eyed world. She knew that she needed to “stop it,” but inside of her mind she’d say, “stop what?” Mary continued to be the “gifted and talented student.” No one noticed her slurred speech or that her mouth was filled with rancid smelling spit. There was not a mention of the unsigned notes from school for her multiple days of absence. Mary had barely any memory of her daily routine beyond being drunk. Mary had become a master of deception and she kept up appearances. Taking a few sips of alcohol here and there was not harmful. With her parents getting a divorce, and her father moving across the country, Mary had to keep it all together. She stayed academically sound, and her grades did not fall. She was still musically gifted and played everything by ear. She had multiple talents and there was no instrument she could not play. Through it all, Mary could stay drunk and her life was entirely too complicated to address. With every piece of her shattered world falling apart right in front of everyone along her seemingly perfect path, Mary could continue to be “The Gifted Alcoholic” and none would be the wiser. If a young person between the ages of 12-20 is struggling with underage alcohol drinking, there are resources that can help them. One contact is: www.cdc.gov

On the Rise Ashley Renee Perrymond

A

Ashley Renee Perrymond, Atlanta native, mother of two. She is the daughter of Pastor Willie Perrymond and Deborah Perrymond. She has been blessed with the gift of song and has been singing since the age of 3. At age 7, “Ms. Katrina” began vocal training her and her sister which prepared them for the awesome opportunity to be under the direction of L’Tayna Moore with the Chevrolet Stellar Award Youth Choir with whom she performed at the Essence Music Festival and Stellar Awards. As time progressed, L’Tayna groomed Ashley into a professional vocalist with class and modesty. From appearance to performance, Ashley always wanted to be JUST like “Ms. Latanya”. After a few of life’s experiences, the passion for writing songs blossomed from her already passion of writing poetry and in 2008, “SweetPea” was birthed. It first started as just a songwriter name and has just took off into so many other entities!!! Along with being a songwriter and vocal coach, Ashley has been awarded many background opportunities for artists such as Vashawn Mitchell, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Monica Lisa Stevenson, Dorothy Norwood, Preashea Hilliard, Ricky Dillard, Dottie Peoples, Bishop William Murphy, Rod Lumpkin, and Micah Stampley to name a few. She has made appearances on Bobby Jones Next Generation Gospel 2008, Oprah 2007 Thanksgiving Holiday Special, Walmart commercial voiceover in 2015, and BET’s Let’s Stay Together. She has traveled overseas to Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Dubai and London this spring. After facing many challenges as a songwriter, Ashley decided to LEAP and release the music that she has offered to other big names in the industry. It is Ashley desire to work with Cece Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Celine Dion, Dianne Warren, David Foster and Moonchild!! Her love for music goes beyond lights and stage. She plans to open a performing arts and developmental center for youth in the City of Lithonia, Georgia. She believes her gift is to reach young people across the world and be the positive influence that leads them to Christ. #makelifeworthit

Heeding the Call King from Platoon Keith David By Takessa Walker Photos by DMS Creative Solutions: Dana Scott

H

He heeded the call from his very first gig, his school’s stage play. He, Keith David, or you may also know him as King from Platoon, Bishop James Greenleaf, or one of my favorites Kirby, from Dead Presidents. While he has narrated and performed as a voice actor in several shows, and cartoons what some may not know about Keith is that he also has an amazing singing voice. There was a lot to be learned about and most importantly from Mr. Keith David.

Prior to deciding to pursue acting as his career, Keith played with the idea of becoming a man of the word. Thus his role of Bishop James Greenleaf is a little more than just a character, he actually feels at home playing the role.

26 OASIS/Montage October • November 2017

Keith is a wealth of knowledge and he shared gems about the craft of acting, getting the part, and staying at the top of casting director’s lists with many working and aspiring actors at his Arts & Icons actor’s workshop. Keith took his time to assist volunteers with tips and constructive consultations via a very simplistic method of standing before an audience and introducing themselves. Introducing ones self, something that we do everyday so casually and simple, became poetic and enlightening. Keith no stranger to the stage as a vocalist also gave the workshop attendees a sneak peek of his vocal performance after his actor’s workshop. The most exciting news was the announcement that Keith now has his own band and will be performing regularly. Keith’s vocals were nothing shy of exceptional reminiscent Nat King Cole vocals fused with theatrical nostalgic music. What was most impressive about his music was the Afro-Latin influenced jazz tunes. I, a lover of music and always up for a romantic Samba number, can’t wait and I think it’s safe to say we’re anticipating an album and tour from Keith in the near future.

Luckily for us, we had an opportunity to sit down and kick our heels back with the chivalrous and ingenious actor outside of the actor’s workshop. Getting to know Keith we discovered that he is naturally hilarious and witty. Needless to say the evening was full of entertainment. Though very accomplished the energy that Keith sustains is still very humble and easygoing. It was if we were family the way we talked, laughed, and had a great time. Keith seems to carry that type of positive energy with him, everywhere he goes. He’s a very kind gentleman never forgetting how well he was raised and the positive influence his parents and grandparents had in his upbringing. He spoke of how his parent’s were always supportive of him and his craft. He shared with us his journey of becoming a great working movie, television, and voice actor, to yet another achievement as the vocalist of a his own band. During our brief evening, Keith serenaded us with a beautiful impromptu song that he sang in Spanish. Still in amazement of his wonderful voice, Keith also shared another secret with us. Prior to deciding to pursue acting as his career, Keith played with the idea of becoming a man of the word. Thus his role of Bishop James Greenleaf is a little more than just a character, he actually feels at home playing the role. Which is clear in how well he depicts the character and consistently brings him to life. Keith continues to surprise us with his great talents and now with sharing and teaching other actors, or those aspiring to be his proven apparatuses to performing well within his craft. We look forward to seeing Keith continue to breath life into characters as well as a nice run in Vegas with his band.

Back for Good Gotta Love (Glenn) Jones

28 OASIS/Montage October • November 2017

Y

You may remember Glenn Jones from his smooth and flawless vocals on tracks like, “Melancholy Fire”, “Show Me”, “Meet Me Half Way There”, and “I’ve Been Searching” and he’s back for good with his latest new single, “You and Me”. Glenn Jones grew from a little boy in Jacksonville, Florida where he regularly attended church services with his mother. He was definitely the quiet shy kid who awkwardly stood on stage, afraid to give his Easter program speech, at just four years old he discovered that he could sing and that’s exactly what he did. His mother soon after discussed Glenn’s desire to sing with the pastor and before he knew it, he was always singing. He sang into adulthood and landed a gig with the gospel group, The Modulations, from which he successfully crossed over into R&B after working with heavy musical hitter, Norman Connors. This transition was not as easy as it seemed, Glenn has always been ahead of the curve but endured the woes of record companies and executives that most times know little about the artistry of music. In particular, one of his favorite songs, “At Last” in which was very frequently played over the radio waves, was not released as a single, because at the time it was referred to as, “just a groove”. Even now Glenn is still going strong in the industry, giving life to R&B tracks, by what he says, “Always delivering a great product and maintaining a standard in my recordings. I try not to disappoint my long time fans.” A wonderful quote that expresses the true love he has for his craft, and an appreciation for us lovers of his music! Glenn has been grinding over the years much more than some of you may have realized. Over the years Glenn has created several works of art in various genres, he’s performed and produced gospel tracks, pop, R&B, and jazz. Glenn actually wrote and produced on a project that became his first full gospel album and instantaneously led to gospel megastar Rev. James Cleveland, signing Glenn to Savoy records. Glenn went on to release another amazing gospel album in which he wrote and produced (though never quite receiving the credit for his part in the production of the tracks), “Feel The Fire.” With tracks like album entitled single “Feel the Fire” and “He is So Good” Glenn inspired the likes of another gospel mega star, John P. Kee, who he shares with Glenn that this album helped save his life. Glenn also co-produced, wrote and played on tracks for his wife’s, Genobia who he met at Savoy Records, gospel album, in which they were nominated for a Grammy and won a Stellar award. While speaking with Glenn I caught a few gems that further shed light of how talented Glenn truly is. In addition to writing, producing and being a highly gifted vocalist I learned that Glenn also

plays the guitar and actually started out doing so with the group he formed with his teenage friends, “Glenn Jones and the Modulators.” Glenn stepped out of his comfort zone and a little more into the lime light and was received even more shine after working with Norman Connors, with the hit single “Melancholy Fire.” Glenn’s smooth cross over from gospel to the jazz and R&B music proved great for him. Though Glenn stayed true to his roots, he still topped the charts with other hits like, “Here I Go Again”, and “We’ve Only Just Begun.” Glenn is proven to be no stranger to collaborations and would actually like to work with artists like Keke Wyatt, Jasmine Sullivan, and Joe. Glenn is still blessing us with his silky smooth and precisely crooned vocals, with his latest single, “You and Me” set to be released in the later this summer, with a full album to be released shortly after that. This summer is definitely looking more like a summer of love! Now I know you’re just as excited as I am to hear the news of Glenn sharing his amazing musical gifts with us again, so keep an ear out and request your local stations to play, “You and Me.” Our team had the privilege to get an exclusive of Glenn’s new single, and all I can tell you now is that you’re in for smooth and jazzy steppers tune! Sorry Loves, that’s all I can share for now. In addition to creating beautiful music, I will share that he also started a non-profit organization called, Love Jones Foundation. The Loves Jones Foundation is a great program geared towards creating a platform for children and the elderly, yes you read that correctly, the elderly as they are sometimes forgotten, to express themselves through music. Our team got a chance to see the Love Jones Foundation’s work first hand at the Whitehead Boys and Girls Club in Atlanta, GA, where Glenn and his team did an amazing job bringing the children out of their seemingly quite shells. Glenn gave the youth a lesson on music from the origin how music was played in homes via record to the more current technology of wireless devices. Glenn also bridged the gap for the youth by playing the original songs that some of our favorite artists have sampled over the years. Glenn then got the youth to join him and his guest Bone Crusher, who is also releasing a new single this summer, on stage for a jam session. We discovered the reality of there being so much untapped talent in our own backyard. Glenn’s Love Jones Foundation is breaking strides in our communities and just as he does in the music industry he shares his wealth of knowledge and transcends it into wonderful music and now gracious ways to serves the community. Glenn Jones has definitely proven himself back for good and he’s here to stay!

B

Born on August 7th in Chatanooga, TN, J-Stylz started right in his home owning his musical ability by making music with pots and pans. Raised in Charlotte, NC as the youngest of four children, Stylz grew up in the church choir while also ministering on drums and piano. From this was birthed the singer’s first experience as a music group member when he joined Soothing Touch, a sleek five man gospel singing group. Desiring to advance his music career, J-Stylz spent the next few years producing and singing hooks. Shortly after, J was introduced to world distinguished music producer Teddy Riley who after a brief voicemail audition, invited Stylz to become the newest member of the highly acclaimed group BlackStreet. J-Stylz headed off to Virginia alongside fellow group members, Mark Middleton, Eric Williams, and Teddy Riley to prepare for his first tour in the United States, Japan, London, and Australia. It was then that a multitude of opportunity released J-Stylz into writing songs for nationally renowned artists to include Slim of 112, Bobby Jones, and the Japanese super group Full of Harmony, who debuted in the pop chart’s top 20 in their native home of Japan. Later J-Stylz signed to TRXperience as a writer and producer. He is currently working alongside the publishing company’s founder Teddy Riley to write, produce, and record the latest album of the illustrious BS2 while the group is still on tour. BS2 became a reprise of BlackStreet to include its current members Teddy Riley, Dave Hollister, Lenny Harold, and J-Stylz himself. Inspired by great mentor and friend Teddy Riley, J-Stylz created his own production company, POWEROUT Studios. He not only runs his own recording and dance studios but uses them as a venue to assist developing artists to nourish and flourish their sound, preparing them for a thriving career in the music industry. Blessed as a musical producer and armed as a recording engineer, J-Stylz has released a number of projects and has many powerful ventures soon to come. Debuting his very first self-recorded single and video in December 2014, Christmas Without You was praised as a compelling and passionate lyrical melody. Soon following was his Valentine’s Day single, I Believe in Cupid and his most recent single and video which debuted in the summer of 2015, Single Woman Syndrome. J-Stylz is currently working on his first solo album titled Dramatic Heartbeat, a potent and dynamic love jones solo EP. Dramatic Heartbeat rejuvenates R&B’s sophistication in today’s contemporary world. Blending a compilation of relationships’ love, lust, and loose ends, J-Stylz has created this album.
