FOUNDER’S i

n honor of Father’s Day, I chose to feature a picture of me and my fabulous husband with our children. My husband is an honorable, loving, caring, humble, meek, generous, wonderful man of God. He takes leadership very seriously and sets an example for his children as a strong provider. My husband is not only a retired soldier, but he is a man that raised eleven children. I thank God daily for my husband, Pastor Marcus Lahombre Moore. This issue I want to welcome my new business partner, Corporate Operations Officer, Catrina McCullough. She is what I call my right hand legal beagle. A lady that dots all the I’s and crosses all the T’s before contracts are signed. For the first time, we are on point for the nation and ready to make productive positive moves. I truly appreciate her genuine hard work, honesty, professionalism and intelligence in the industry. She is a lady of honor that labors in the vineyard to make impacting improvements. I am excited about this summertime fun issue as we introduce the vintage wedding bliss and sights to see on vacation. Extraordinary leaders have been honored in the Trumpet Awards as well as with Atlanta’s Who’s Who acknowledged at the Georgia World Congress Center. Oasis Montage takes you on an excursion to ride the dolphins in Mexico to a joyful day of bliss and fashionable vintage wedding nuptials. Let us continually keep the family of our legendary artist Prince in our thoughts and prayers. In this issues we honor the awesome man that was loved by so many for his great music. The heartfelt articles in this issue are written with such tenacity. They take your mind on heart filled journeys that make you want to check yourself and how you live your life. How we should love and treat one another. People today are all about branding and using others. Life is too short and we take it for granted. Its time out for foolishness. Oasis Montage Mission is to Empower you with a Powerful word that will not only Educate you but Impact a Positive change.

When Enough is Enough I read the book “When enough is enough,” a book featured in Oasis Montage Magazine and even though I didn’t like the violence, I found it to be very interesting. I am a 74 years old woman and I am the youngest one of 13 children but I have never witness nor have I known of anyone being as mean and nasty as Jerry. I don’t know how Clare could hold up under such harsh treatment. When I first started reading the book, I had to put it down because I was crying and I was going to finish reading it on the plane back home but I didn’t want anyone to see my crying so I waited until I got home, but when I got home and picked the book up again, I would get so angry that I had to put it down again, I did that about five times before I finished it. I thank God that Clare married James and they have a beautiful and happy life now. I think women should read this book that is going through a similar situation with hope that it will help them.

Black Americans Making a Difference I am not one that really reads magazine on a regular basis. When I ran across this Oasis Montage Magazine I couldn’t stop reading it. I love how it features positive stories on known Black Americans and regular everyday blacks that are making a difference within their communities. With all the race wars going on with our world right now, this magazine spreads the GREAT influential things still going on today! Very inspiring! A must read!!!

Jasmine Copeland

I have also read articles in the Oasis Montage magazines and I have found them also interesting. I do know Clare personally and she is a very wonderful and loving person along with her husband. Thelma Thompson Richmond, Va Summertime Fashions I love Fashion and I truly enjoyed the styles in the fashion section of the magazine. They were summertime dresses with look for all occasions. It was nice to read about our black leaders and accomplishments. To see leaders walk across the bridge of Selma was like history repeating itself. This magazine has a little bit of everything for everybody. Jackie Junction City, Kansas

ello, my name is Blessona Unique Lahombreya Jade Moore, and I am running for 2017 Miss Georgia USA. Miss Georgia USA is only one of my many goals I hope to accomplish. In order to achieve this goal; I will need a little assistance from my supporters. Before the month of November, as a prerequisite to participate in the Miss Georgia USA pageant, I need sponsorship funds to continue my participation.

Others may wonder why I have chosen to proceed on even knowing the amount I need, and most may say it’s not possible. But in my own mind and personal perspective I believe that as long as I have the Lord with me on my side the impossible is possible. Running for the Miss Georgia gives me an opportunity to make a difference and many young women’s lives. I have a vision to create a change in the lives of young women out there in the world who are lost that need wisdom guidance. I am a leader and can be a friend to young women that are in need of a listening ear. I have the will and desire to show them that they too can achieve goals aspirations in life. Sky is the limits no matter what challenges come their way, they can conquer it if they just keep God first. It is important they continue to stay determined and focused on the plans the Lord has for their life. As I look further into this pageant for Miss Georgia’s USA, I realize this is a stepping stone for the greater things the lord has planned for me to achieve and accomplish in my life as a testimony for others. My ultimate goal is to be a surgeon. Yes, I want to be a (scripper scrapper) doctor. Every since my mother was diagnosed with MS, and I had to care for she and my grandmother who recently passed away, I knew my calling was to be a caretaker in the medical field. This goal does cost a lot to achieve and winning Ms. Georgia can help me achieve that goal with the scholarship monies. So I sincerely ask businesses and those of you that can and will to please donate a minimum of $100.00 towards funds needed for running in the pageant. In return for your sponsorship, your business name will appear in all publications and media advertisement to include the televised event. Please remember your sponsorship will bless me, Blessona Moore; with a life time educational opportunity. Please mail your check or money order to: Blessona Moore, P.O. BOOK REVIEW

When Enough

is Enough I highly recommend reading, When Enough I Enough. The author touches on some very serious issues that took place at an early period in life. You will be compelled to read until you have finished the entire book. I believe that many young women who read this will make better choices in life and avoid falling in the same traps. Others will know that there is hope after a life of abuse. I know this book kept me turning the pages until the very end! Congratulations Carolyn on writing yet another great work! —Gospel Recording Artist,

After listening and editing Carolyn’s audio testimony, I found myself a part of it. Her stage play Women Shoptalk While Real Men Wait physically demonstrates half of the abuse she experienced. After reading this book, you will find how she actually conquered the battle and fear of domestic violence/abuse. Carolyn has an optimism, tenacity, and eagerness for helping distressed women and men that they too can live and not die because of domestic violence. With no longer shame but boldness, Carolyn’s catalyst spirit has helped many through motivational-speaking events, stage plays, videos of Women Shoptalk While Real Men Wait, and now the release of her new book, Enough Is Enough. According to a U.S. Department of Justice study, twothirds of violent attacks against women are committed by someone the woman knows. In the United States, one of the most dangerous places for a woman is her own home. Approximately 1,500 women are killed each year by their husbands or boyfriends. About two million men per year beat their partners, according to the FBI (http://www.pbs.org/kued/nosafeplace/ studyg/domestic.html). Carolyn is one of thousands who survived domestic violence abuse and lived to tell the story. After reading this book, you will have the confidence and faith to no longer be petrified to ask for help. You will no longer hide your secret of abuse but will have the confidence and support to break the chain and bondage of domestic violence abuse. —Belinda Guyton, MA, MGT/HRDV Faculty, University of Phoenix Published Author Founder and CEO of the following organizations: Writers in Motion ISLAND (I Shall Live and Not Die) Ministries YLOW (Young Ladies of Worth) Vision Comes Alive LLC (in progress)

I read the book “When enough is enough,” a book featured in Oasis Montage Magazine and even though I didn’t like the violence, I found it to be very interesting. I cheered, laughed and cried as I read this living testimonony of the poem “Footprints in the Sand.” As Carolyn struggled with the devastation of abuse at the hand of her husband, it was clear to me that God was with her every step of the way guiding her, encouraging and even protecting her during the many times that she came face to face with death. Never before had I felt so inspired as I have by this sweet reminder of God’s grace and love for His children. As you journey through Carolyn’s incredible story of how God delivered her from abuse, remember God is with you too. —Janette L. Panell, MA Ed in Counseling Psychology

How unfortunate that so many women live a life of abuse for so many years before they find the strength and support they need to break the cycle. This book was riveting, so many situations that many women still face today. Hopefully this book will reach the women that have not been able to walk away and trust God; as we see from this book God will never leave or for sake you if you just trust him. —-Rose Leabough Goochland, Va

My girlfriend Thelma Thompson gave me your book, “ When enough is enough “ as a gift. She was excited for me to read it. Well, the book brought back so many memories of myself when I was a young woman. At times I cried, at times I found myself giving thanks to God for bringing me out, and at times I smiled. I enjoyed reading it and I thank you for sharing and letting others know that they’re not alone. —Margaret Burrell Richmond, VA

The Heavenly Harp by Monika Waters, aka Ambassador Joy Life Coach/Radio & TV Host

Envision a lovely young lady sitting and caressing an oblong largely shaped gold instrument. As she strokes the center strings, you hear the sounds through her heavenly harp. While listening to Kimberly, a junior in high school, I watched her perform and I was spellbound by the musicianship and passion she displayed. She had a calm, charismatic and classy love for the harp that played heavenly sounds. At 3 years old, she performed her first piano recital. She became interested in the harp at the age of 10 when she witnessed a harp ensemble. Kimberly fell in love with the heavenly sound of this unusual instrument. The harp hides in the depth of an orchestra without counterparts and yet it shines as a gleaming marble when alone. Kimberly joined the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble under the tutelage of Carolyn Mumford. Under Ms. Mumford’s leadership, Kimberly landed an opportunity in the American Harp Society’s Georgia Chapter. At the age of 16, she had performed for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program in which she studied under the auspices of Principal Harpist, Elizabeth Remey-Johnson. With the Atlanta Symphony’s Youth Orchestra, Kimberly was the Principal Harpist along with Mason Morton of Serendip (UYHE and TDP Alumni). As a child, Kimberly would record her favorite movies, then attempt to play the score by ear then writing the notes. She has faced many challenges that threatened to inhibit her dream by having bone cancer and bone cysts. Kim’s arm was broken 3 times hindering her harp playing gift. Having the cancer condition didn’t stop her, Kim pressed on and learned how to use her left arm and became ambidextrous. Kim is now an advocate that brings awareness about bone cancer and bone cysts which is debilitating. Kim an advocate that brings awareness about bone cancer and bone cysts now has a non-profit organization. She has also authored a book titled, “Mom, I Broke My Arm, Again.” Kimberly’s favorite experiences as a being a harpist, pianist, and author was when she sat on stage with YoYo Ma. She performed in the ASO SIDE-BY-SIDE Concert conducted by Robert Spano and Joseph Young. In PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Australia and Germany, she played a solo in Mozart’s Café. This concert was featured on several television shows such as the CBS Sunday Morning Show and the Trinity Awards. Kimberly is humbled and honored to use her talents resonates to the soul of mankind that creates peace and joy to a fragile world.

Kimberly is a junior in high school has a busy schedule traveling with performances, writing a new book, and preparing for an upcoming movie. Kimberly says, “I feel music compositions and scoring is a feeling of being able to create a limited less sound. To bring a scene to life is to paint the colors on the silver screen. This is what drives my heart to the study drum of the music. My harp and piano

serve as my musical companions.” Kim’s mind can create a masterpiece out of her feelings within. Film scoring is truly her passion and she can’t imagine living life without it. The emotions in Kim’s mind do not become a reality until she has unbounded the pages of black and white that freed in the colors of creation. Once again, God has blessed the planet with another teen prodigy who is on the rise!!! Please keep a lookout for Kimberly who is making waves in the music and film score industry.

It is essential to concentrate on what’s right and not who’s right. NEW BEGINNINGS By Paula Williams

New Beginning Christian Outreach Ministry has its roots in the humble beginning in the back yard of Rev. and First Lady Paula Williams, Statesboro, GA as Mount Zion Outreach Center; Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Hinesville, GA, under the leadership of M.L. Jackson. Rev. Williams sensed the call of God to establish a new ministry in January 2011. New Beginning Christian Outreach Ministry was founded and dedicated to God at 24 Joe Kennedy Blvd. Statesboro, GA. The church immediately went to work serving the community and reaching souls and became the headquarters location for Youth Career Camp, Inc. The camp has received awards from Department of Human Services for 3 years of involvement in the Georgia Teen Work Initiative. Since 2011, New Beginnings has expanded their building to include a media room and distribution space which has allotted them to service hundreds of families. New Beginnings membership falls under the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International. The founder is Bishop Paul S. Morton and Bishops Joseph Walker and M. L. Jackson.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

The “Vintage Romance” theme was inspired after the brides of the 1980’s wedding gowns. The soft tones and textures of pearls with roses are a natural make-up that accent the bride’s bold hairpiece. The gown is filled with an enchanted vision that captures an elegant view of the of the past.

Danielle West

A newly emerging independent voice of Gospel, Danielle West, also known as DanniVocalz, is a LOVER of music and follower of God. She is from Los Angeles, California, but relocated to Atlanta, Georgia at age 15 and has resided there since. Though many are becoming familiar with her soulful sound and artistry, Danni is by no means a stranger to music. At the tender age of 2 years old, you could find her belting notes at her dad’s church, and she participated in the choirs of any church she has ever attended. Early on, her mother knew she’d be a singer because she could always be found humming a tune or singing her responses to people’s questions or statements. The shaping of her craft as a singer started during childhood at Faithful Central Bible Church, with Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer. There Danni sang with the Children’s Choir and Teenage/College Choir. Since then, her list of musical accomplishments have grown thanks to opportunities presented by God’s favor, including things like: organizing a choir to sing behind the famed Puff Daddy, Faith Evans, and 112 for a performance of “I’ll Be Missing You” on Jay Leno’s TV show; performing the National Anthem at a Brave’s game; filling in on an episode on Sunday Best with JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise. In addition, she has shared the stage with the likes of: Earnest Pugh, Marica Chisolm, Pastor Brock Taylor and United Voices for Christ, Maranda C. Willis, Sunday Best Winner Geoffrey Golden, and others. Danni is currently a member of Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, a ministry that continues to sharpen her gift and create doors for her as an artist. She also has a recently released single entitled “Who You Are” which is available on all digital media outlets. Danielle stands on Isaiah 40:31. She often says: “Waiting may feel like it’s dragging out this process of life, but God’s timing is ALWAYS the right timing.” Having endured a WAIT season before this current journey, she has truly learned that in a season of WAIT, God is working on her behalf and she purposes to continue WORKING while WAITING on the PROMISES of God.

The Visitor By Dr. James A. West Photography by Carolyn Moore

One day, a man went to visit a church. He arrived early, parked his car and got out. Another car pulled up near him, and the driver told him, “I always park there. You took my place!” The visitor went inside for Sunday school, found an empty seat, and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, “That’s my seat! You took my place!” The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing. After Sunday school, the visitor went into the church sanctuary and sat down. Another member walked up to him and said, “That’s where I always sit. You took my place!” The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still said nothing. Later, as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood, and his appearance began to change. Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet. Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, “What happened to you?” The visitor replied, “I took your place”. . 36

“Shhhh....babygirl, it’s just me, it’s your daddy. “It was 4oclock in the morning and I remember being as young as age 3. That night, my daddy, his twin brother Amos and their cousin Hermon, whisked me out of my bed, opened the basement door and laid me down onto the darkroom floor. My daddy covered my mouth as he touched me. It was disgusting to listen to their lustful moans. Tears showered my face as I cried for the mama I never knew. Their body’s nature penetrated all over me and I became accustomed to a daily life of family lust. As I got older, the frequent sex acts became the only love I ever knew. After 13 years of molestation and sexual abuse, one day a phone call came and suddenly I was on a plane. I was going to finally meet the lady I was told that looked like me, my mama. Who was my mama? Why did she give me to my aunt; my daddy’s sister? Why didn’t my aunt and daddy have baby pictures of me? Why was I called the secret bastard child? Why did she hate me; is it because my daddy loved me more than he loved my mama?” Patrice was a little girl meeting her mother, Gomer and her husband, Hosea for the first time. They had a little girl named Helen. Hosea was in the military and Gomer was an apostolic preacher. She performed exorcisms, witchcraft, and sex acts with scandalous behavior. When Hosea abused Gomer, Helen and Patrice hid in closets. Many times they were pistol whipped after breaking up their parent’s fights. Hosea was a rolling stone that drank while Gomer spent his money. Gomer was living like the Jones. The children dressed nicely and when attending high profile events, they were their mother’s eye candy especially around local celebrities. When at home, Patrice and Helen were told to keep secrets and to never speak unless spoken to. Patrice’s new life with Gomer was not easy because Patrice was an embarrassment to Gomer and forced to still be a secret. Gomer never explained why she gave Patrice away at birth to her biological daddy, or why she hated her. God is a healer. Today, 40 years later, Patrice is no longer in bondage and her story will be released in her new book and Patrice is a motivational speaker. God has blessed Patrice with a handsome loving husband, 2 beautiful boys and a flourishing career. Patience’s abusive father and his twin brother are serving time in prison. Her mother, Gomer whom Patrice loves dearly, is living with a terminal illness. While living with Gomer, Patrice met her grandma Molly. On Molly’s death bed, the two talked and Molly says, ”Honey listen to me, I know who you are and I want you to know that I love you. You are not not the bastard secret. The bastard secret is a reflection in the mirror of shame and embarrassment. Your mother does love you, but what she see’s in you is her past; “The Secret.”

Fun In the Sun

T

by Sparkle Moore Photography by Carolyn Moore,

he sun is shining, the ocean is two-toned blue, dolphins glide through the waves and the guest are having fun in the sun. There is nothing like a cruise on the Caribbean with family and friends. It is the ultimate place for relaxation and meditation. You’ll find white sands and turquoise water throughout the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. The islands are beautiful, with rainforests and mountain trails, and some have coral beaches.

No matter where you visit, the cuisine and conch fritters have an exquisite islander taste. Let’s not forget the adult nightlife with the stage shows, comedy and your luck with black jack and the slot machines. You can rent a boat for a little waterskiing and Snorkeling. Last but not least, take and excursion and watch the dolphin shows. The dolphins not only dance for you, but they are a splash full of fun when they take you on a fin ride as you enjoy having fun in the sun.

Who is

Prince? by Jennifer Harper

P

Early Life and Childhood

rince Rogers Nelson, globally known as “Prince” expired April 21, 2016 after a long and fruitful professional career. Prince was born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both of his parents, John Rogers, a jazz pianist, stage name “Prince Rogers” and Mattie Shaw, a jazz singer, were musicians. Inspired by talented parents, Prince became interested in music at a very tender age and taught himself how to play numerous musical instruments. As a child, Prince suffered from epileptic seizures. It was later revealed that he was bullied by his classmates. Prince’s spiritual journey started early.

His parents later divorced and Prince struggled with post parental divorce issues. Prince was recognized for his basketball athletic abilities, while in high school. He later moved in with friends and launched his acclaimed career. He has one biological sister and seven half-siblings of which, one half-brother and half-sister have expired. When questioned about his upbringing, he often responded that he didn’t want to discuss it.

Private Life Very much like his father, Prince was very private and kept to himself. Prince was shy and an introvert. While he displayed a very public enigmatic persona, those who knew him well, considered Prince, a funny, outgoing and loveable guy. To his local friends, he was also known as “Kid.” As a teenager, Prince enjoyed listening to the likes of Sly Stone, Joni Mitchell, Santana and Fleetwood, all music from the early 1970s. Prince had a challenging young adulthood. It was riddled with parental changes, his search of himself and musical fulfillment. Despite his environmental surroundings, living from one household to other, he managed to be creative, innovative and very resourceful. He formed a band that propelled his career. Prince rise to stardom was credited to his artistry, discipline, dedication and God given talent. Others began to recognize his natural aptitude, as a self-taught musician and his phenomenal vocal range. He emerged into mainstream of the musical spectrum in the late 1970s and early 1980s. At that time, Prince was personally involved with the distinguished drummer extraordinaire Sheila E. They collaborated

together on several of her albums including Romance 1600, which featured her single “A Love Bizarre.” Prince built his famed home, Paisley Park compound in 1987. He married Mayte Garcia in 1996 and birthed one son. He expired a week after his birth, from Pfeiffer Syndrome. Their marriage was annulled in 1999, and divorced in 2000. Prince married his second wife, Manuela Testolini in 2001. Following the death of his mother, Mattie Shaw (Baker) in 2002, Prince was baptized to Jehovah Witness in 2003. His view of the world began to change. Prince and Testolini divorced in 2006. Subtly augmenting his lifestyle, he became a bachelor and more private with his relationships with women and his music. Prince was an anonymous philanthropist contributor to many causes and contributed to societal issues. He believed in his Jehovah God’s word. When much is given, much is required. Prince practiced healthy eating habits, later converted to a vegetarian, restrained from alcohol and illegal drugs. Prince enjoyed some normalcy in his life. He spent most of his time, in Paisley Park and in his community for almost 30 years. OASIS/Montage July • August 2016 43

His Faith He was raised a Seventh-day Adventist and attended services in Glendale City. He later changed his faith to Jehovah Witness. Contrary to his past, over the span of ten-twelve years, Prince became a devout Witness. Prince serviced his commitment by going door to door canvassing, and attended assembly meetings. During his musical career, Prince was known to perforate his music with sensual and sexually precocious behavior that attracted a revolutionizing

44

generation. His lyrics celebrated explicit pleasures, yet sprinkled words from the gospel. One foot in the world, yearning for sexual revolution, and the other, deeply seated in spirituality. Prince always gave God the praise on his albums, but he preached a mixed message. The power of conviction and God’s love brought the musical seductive genius to become a profound spiritual believer.
