One of the most common overuse injuries I see in golfers is medial epicondylitis, or “golfer’s elbow.” It’s often caused by repetitive strain through the wrist and forearm especially during long practice sessions or a heavy tournament schedule.
✅ Try This: Add eccentric wrist flexor exercises to your weekly routine. These help build strength and tendon resilience
Example:
Hold a light dumbbell (2–5 lbs) in your hand, palm facing up.
2.
1. Use your opposite hand to help lift the weight.
3.
Slowly lower the dumbbell on your own over 3–5 seconds.
4.
Repeat for 10–12 reps, 2–3 sets, 2–3x/week.
Prevention is easier than rehab build it into your routine now and keep swinging strong all season.

The best parts of spring are upon us Flowering plants are in full bloom, the zoysia areas are beginning to green up beautifully, and more members are making their way onto the course. With spring's arrival come a few common questions, so I thought I’d take a moment to address them this month.
As many of you have noticed, some areas on the course are green and growing, while others remain brown. That’s a natural part of the transition for warm-season grasses like zoysia and Bermuda.
Zoysia thrives when the average daily temperature is around 75°F or higher, and it needs 6–8 hours of sunlight to support healthy growth.
South-facing, open areas warm up and green up first. As temperatures rise and the sun angle shifts, north-facing or shaded areas begin to catch up, and the color across the fairways starts to even out.
In addition, several areas of the course including the 10th fairway—contain Bermuda grass, which requires even higher sustained temperatures than zoysia. As May progresses, those areas will begin to green up as well, bringing the fairways back to their typical summer appearance and playability.
With more rounds being played, we’re beginning to see an increase in unrepaired ball marks on the greens. As part of our daily maintenance, our team repairs marks each morning, but the longer a ball mark is left unrepaired, the longer it takes to heal. That can expose roots, delay turf recovery, and affect playability
A great rule of thumb while playing: fix yours, plus one more nearby. That small effort goes a long way in helping us maintain the greens in great condition.
Spring is a fantastic time at Oakwood, and it’s always exciting to watch the course evolve with the season. Thank you for your continued care and awareness as we work together to keep Oakwood looking its best
See you on the course!
