DEAROAKWOODMEMBERS,
DecemberintheGreensDepartmentisthetimetopreparefornextseason. To improve Oakwood we will be doing drainage projects, tree maintenance, and restoringcourseaccessories.
Drainage is an ongoing process on the course. This winter we are focusing drainageontwoholes.Hole1intheapproachneedsadraintorelievethesoggy conditionspresentinfrontofthegreen.Atthebeginningofhole1watercollects andneedsbetterdrainagetofixtheproblem.Hole9hasabigareatoaddress about120yardsfromthegreen.AgoodFrenchdrainshouldmovethewateroff thefairwaymakingforbetterturfandshotsintothegreen. Iftimeallowswewill tackleothersmallerdrainsonthecourseaswell.
StartinginDecembertheGreensdepartmentwillbeginremovingandtrimming treesthroughoutthecourse.Thegoaloftreeremovalsistoimprovethecourse playability and member safety and improve the turf conditioning. As you play the course in the coming months please be aware of the crew working in and around the trees. Ensure the crew is stopped and aware of your presence before entering a work area to continue your round. We safely removed many treeslastwinterandIwouldlikethattrendtocontinue.
Inthemorningsoncolddays,wewillberepairingcourseaccessories.Taskswill include painting and fixing trash cans, fixing ball washers, and freshening the paintontheteemarkers.Thesmalldetailsmakethecourselookevenbetter. IthasbeenagoodgolfseasonatOakwood.Theworkcompletedthiswinterwill helpmake2025evenbetter.
