Hello again, all! As we reach the end of our first quarter, we come into what would usually encompass the fundraising season for our Key Club. Summer would be a perfect opportunity to have a bake sale or a quick food sale at a DCM. No school, no homework and plenty of time to bake! While we won’t get these kinds of moments this time, it’s still important to know what the purpose of such fundraisers are for: preferred charities. March of Dimes focuses on research and education on birth defects. United Nations International Children’s Emergency Funds delivers emergency relief and immunizations to save the lives of children in critical medical conditions. Children’s Miracle Network works with hospital to provide special equipment and training to its workers. The Pediatric Program serves to prevent deaths from traumatic accidents on children. It’s a little difficult to remember each one, but they all promote caring, our way of life! Here’s an acronym to remember them: MUCP = Must Use Cool Pronouns, also promoting the use of positive words in an atmosphere of Safekey language. Anyways, this barely touches surface of these charities, but it’s truly fascinating how a simple high school club can contribute to thousands of lives being saved across the world. Hopefully this educates and encourages you on your Key Club journeys!
