End of the Term

Katelyn Ngo | 11 | Publicist

This past month just about wraps up the last month in the 2022-2023 term. It has been one eventful year filled with service projects, socials, and new friendships. We are getting ready for a new term which means seeing new faces as well as some old ones.

This year held many memories raising countless funds and serving countless hours throughout the term. I’m sure everyone has good things to say as we continue into next year. Key Club is different from any other club or organization. It creates long lasting relationships and connections with people. I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity to serve as an officer this past term. It was my first term serving as an officer, but I have definitely learned a lot along my journey as publicist and publicity coordinator, contributing to my growth as an individual and a leader. It feels as if we only barely started the school year. It’s crazy to think this is my last article for this term. Everything is happening so quickly.

To whoever may be reading this, thank you for your dedication to OAKC and I hope that we helped play a role in making your year a greater one.

End of the Term

Finally, it’s the time of the term to write my last article and say goodbye only to start an even better next term!! This term is my first time being on board, and to be honest, it was pretty stressful. There were always a bunch of captions to write, pictures to pick, and events to go to. Sometimes I get annoyed by how many mandatory events there are, but when I see the pictures from the events after missing them because of schedule conflicts, I regret not going. Overall, I definitely experienced much more growth in this past term. I realized that Key Club is a community where you will be accepted no matter how shy you are This term, I made new friends at general meetings and events, and also gained a lot of experience. I started having volunteer friends that I would only meet when I go to specific volunteer events that Key Club hosts. I also started having Key Club meeting friends who I see at general meetings. I rarely even talk to these people before, but because of Key Club, I have a chance to maintain these friendships. Also, being a historian encouraged me to get a camera, which I definitely don't regret!!! Now, I take my camera on every trip my family or friends and I go to Although my skill level at taking photos isn’t very high, I had a lot of fun taking pictures of everything I see. In addition, I really appreciate this year ’ s board members for helping me out when I seem lonely at events :,) As an introverted person, it really helps a lot <333 I am a bit sad that the seniors are going to graduate… because as a sophomore, this is like the first year when I actually know the seniors who are graduating. But life has to go on and our duties and core values have to continue, so goodbye 2022-2023, and hello 2023-2024!!!

End of the Term

As the end of the Key Club term draws near, I feel bittersweet about the upcoming changes. For some, this is a time of reflection on the past term, and for others, it's an opportunity to look forward to the future. Thinking back on my experience as treasurer, I remember the excitement and nerves I felt as I ran for the position. It was a chance to showcase my leadership skills and passion for community service while also learning more about the inner workings of Key Club. And now, as I am one of the vice president elects, I can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement for what's to come.

Looking back on my time as treasurer, I can see the ways in which the club grew and evolved over the term. It was heartening to see the future of OAKC build and prepare for the next term, knowing that we were making a positive impact on our school and our community. However, as the end of the term approaches, it's also a time of sadness and goodbyes. Saying goodbye to fellow members, officers, or advisors can be difficult, especially after working closely with them for an entire term and creating so many inside jokes. But it's also a chance to reflect on the positive impact we ' ve made and the memories we ' ve created together.

Looking Back & Signing Off

My last Key Club article ever. How nostalgic it is knowing I started writing these back in April 2020, and now it's March 2023. I can’t believe I wrote one of these every single month for our monthly newsletter. Oh how I will miss writing these, jk. Writing isn’t one of my greatest subjects, but I somewhat enjoyed writing these to reflect on the events I took part in, and also sharing my own experiences with all of you. Key Club has been another family to me, and something I identified myself as a student. It gave me the opportunity to serve the community, which I really enjoyed doing all through high school. It is surreal thinking about how I will be leaving this school very school, and Key Club a month and a half before. If you have read my past articles, I reminisced on the earliest events of my Key Club Journey, so I won’t repeat myself again. However, I would like to leave all of you with a message to stay passionate. Being passionate drives for success and accomplishments, which I did through Key Club to reach a high leadership position and such a large and absurd amount of volunteering hours. Put your time into your work and help others. Be involved in Key Club like me, and you’ll create so much amazing memories that you’ll look back and miss. Bond with upperclassmen! I remember becoming so close to CO’21 and ‘22, and also ‘24 now. I hope all of you can enjoy your Key Club journeys the same way I did, and I wish you all the best! I enjoyed my time here, thank you, all of you. Signing off, Kenneth Nguyen.

End of 4 Years

My first Key Club event was a Hope Food Distribution during the summer of my freshman year. That one event and that one step to push myself to explore something new led me to a crazy journey for these four years. From being a dedicated member my freshman year to my fully online sophomore year to the mountains of emails I sent my junior year to my final year as president, I have cherished all of the memories I’ve made, the bonds I’ve created, the people I’ve met and all the skills I’ve learned

I can’t believe that my time with club is coming to an end but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the time I’ve had till here and made the most of it. It’s been an honor serving for so long and finding my passion for community service through this club has been truly memorable. Saying goodbye comes with every high school student’s senior year and it has not hit me yet that it’s my turn now. Having been on the other side with seniors before me, it’s definitely very emotional realizing I’m in their shoes now I hope that I’ve made a mark like the Key Clubbers before me and I hope that those younger than me can make the most of their journeys through Key Club as well. With a newly elected Executive Board and appointed officers, I’m excited to see where this club goes next. Best wishes, OAKC! From: your 22-23 president :)

March DCM March DCM

Hey Sunnies! It’s been a while, but I hope you all are doing well! This coming march, we are going to be having our first DCM in a while March DCM! Just as a reminder, DCM stands for Division Council Meeting, and basically, it is where all of the clubs in our division give updates on what their clubs are doing! It is always a fun way to get to know other Key Clubbers in our division and make new friends! My favorite part was always the fundraisers, especially since I felt (just a little) better about purchasing so many snacks since I knew the funds were going to a great cause! Anyways, as this term draws to a close, I truly encourage you all to come out to this DCM and just enjoy one of the best parts of Key Club the connections! And who knows, maybe this will be where your Key Club moment happens!

New Beginnings

This month, I was elected to be OA Key Club’s President of the 23-24 term. Taking on this responsibility, there are many things I am excited about but also I know I will face many challenges. Taking on this big leadership role makes me nervous and there are times where I question if I will be able to do it. However, I know with my executive team and the rest of my board, we will make my last term in OAKC one of the most memorable. Already, I am passionate about leading one of the biggest clubs at Oxford and implementing changes to make sure we reach our goals and grow as a club.

Last week, we took executive board lineage photos and talking and bonding with my new team gave me comfort and reassurance. I will have a great team beside me and I know we will be able to get through anything together. There are many things I will have to learn to ninth-grade such a big and I strive

New Beginnings

Wow. It is already March, and I can’t believe that time has passed this quickly. In February, we already finished electing our new board, signaling the end of the year. For the positions of next year ’ s OA Key Club executive board, we had several candidates presenting speeches to the general members and answering their questions. No matter what the results were, I was proud of the candidates for making efforts to continue Key Club’s passions.

I remember listening to the candidates’ speeches and being surprised at how quickly the year had already passed. It just seemed like yesterday when the school year started, but now, it’s time to get ready for the new “Key Club year. ” Not only that, but the candidates were all now sophomores and juniors, and I realized how long we all have been in Key Club. Next year, my class peers will become the oldest class year as seniors and are already becoming leaders to lead the upcoming Key Clubbers. This reminded me that I do not have much time left in high school and as an Oxford Academy Key Clubber The busy years have gone by so quickly that I don’t think I had time to truly enjoy high school life and the experiences that came with it.

I remember the start of Key Club as a freshman and attentively participating in online service projects, but now as a junior chained to AP classes, I slightly lost that motivation. I wish I could have enjoyed the process more and attended events to get more involved. For the underclassmen who are just starting their Key Club journeys, I encourage you all to enjoy the process, make many new friends, and become passionate about serving the community!
