hen you work in Times Square, it’s natural to talk about one of the most important nights of the year: New Year’s Eve. In fact we talk about it all year long – we do! We touch upon it as we think about experiences, what we did for our guests last year, and what we can do this year to make it even better. Mind you, when we say last year, we mean just about two days after the confetti has been cleared. Without fail, we hear from our guests during the first week of January. We start our list for the guests who are already planning for next year! We know that trends are telling us that travelers are looking more for a special experience, over buying things. So it’s not just about having our beautiful newly redesigned guest rooms – it’s about the total experiences we help create once our guests arrive. Whether you like to ice skate nearby at the Bryant Park rink, or sit at a cozy table overlooking Times Square, we can guide you in making it happen. As thousands of people descend upon Times Square on December 31 to ring in the new year, we’re busy preparing for the biggest night of all, both inside and outside. Bet you might not know that all the confetti thrown on New Year’s Eve is thrown by hand – 3,000 pounds of it! In a great outdoor setting, the New York Marriott Marquis is one of the
official confetti toss sites with a team of volunteers, through the Times Square Alliance. Confetti dispersal engineers are placed to cover a large swath of space, creating a “cloud” of confetti above and below. It never gets old. “Confetti King” Treb Heining has been orchestrating the confetti toss for over 30 years. Even the most experienced visitor in Times Square screams with excitement when the toss begins. As Treb has commented, the experience changes a normal day to a spectacular one. Inside, we’re preparing for an amazing and entertaining night, which you can read about in this issue. It’s like a snowball in July – and it gets you thinking about the holiday season to come. Does the hotel have a viewing location from street level? No, We do not have any streetlevel locations available for guests to view the Ball Drop. You

Please be on the lookout for the Marquis sign and don't forget to have your room key and/or email confirmation with you. Is there a dedicated point of contact for any concerns or emergencies that may arise? There is always a Manager on Duty on the 8th Floor Lobby, as well as security personnel on 24/7 duty. Are there any restrictions on bringing personal items or decorations into the hotel? No coolers, buffet equipment, and/or DJ equipment. Are there any prohibited items? No firearms or sterno cans are permitted. What is the maximum amount of guests permitted, per room? Standard King Rooms 3 People Standard Double Rooms 4 People Is valet parking available on New Year’s Eve? Yes. The SP+ parking team will be stationed on 46th Street and 8th Avenue in a van to hand out valet tickets and will verify guests with hotel staff.
