ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE
• The course is designed specif ically to develop young people’s independence within the home and community.

• Lessons focus on improving self confidence, team work skills, being safety aware, good health and hygiene and helping to develop maturity.
• The course will include a wide range of functional skills that are transferable into employability (voluntary/paid) e.g. bus travel and money skills.
• The course allows a smooth transition from school to college life.
• Students will be given an opportunity to become an active citizen within their local community through the delivery of community based projects.
ROAD TO SUCCESS IN COLLEGE LIFE
• Meal planning for life beyond college.
• Developing strategies for positive mental health.
• Practical work preparation.
• Online employment profile.
• Developing financial skills.
• Work placements.
ROAD TO SUCCESS IN COLLEGE LIFE
• Developing essential skills for progression into independent college life, for those needing time to hone their skills and confidence; both in and out of college.
• This course is largely project based learning through fundraising, charity and community work. It will allow for additional development of independence as it guides you out of your comfort zone, and further towards success.
• Includes sessions in: fundraising and charity work, group projects, self-awareness and goal setting, cooking on a budget and domestic skills and building confidence to be able to safely navigate the local community.


SUPPORTED INTERNSHIPS
• A pathway into paid employment.
• Gain skills in the workplace 5 days a week, learning for future employment with a mentor and work buddy.
• Have a job coach to support you in the workplace.
• Learn vital interview skills and build a CV.
ROAD TO EMPLOYMENT
• Developing employability skills: covering topics and developing skills in hospitality, IT, customer service, retail and administrative work.
• Explore key business themes: marketing, advertising and selling in an enterprise project.
• Includes Employability sessions: career guidance, CV and application writing and interview preparation.
• Includes managing money sessions: payroll, banking, budgeting and finance safety.
• Students are encouraged to find a work placement one day a week, outside of college hours.

• Have the opportunity to develop essential skills to prepare you for your vocational subject choice, for the following academic year.
• Engage in vocational preparation through theory and practical.
• Build your confidence and time management skills.
• Participate in subject-specific work experiences.
• Study English & math at GCSE.
