The Hospitality and Leisure industry is the fourth biggest employer in the UK, accounting for just over three million jobs.

Following the pandemic, the industry has seen an increase of 138% in food delivery and takeout services, and 48% more customers prefer to book, order and pay using a digital service.

This shows the start of an exciting change to the landscape and future of the industry.

We have strong relationships with local businesses within Hospitality, meaning that we are able to listen and respond to requirements to address potential future skills shortages and skills gaps. This has meant that our training programmes are constantly evolving to meet the needs.

North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College provide an immersive learning environment through our real working restaurant and kitchen, The Glebegate Restaurant. We also offer a range of flexible online learning modules, that provide professional training to support the development needs of your business.

Industry placements

Apprenticeships

Our industry placement programme allows NWSLC students to get a taste for work in an industry they love alongside full-time study. As an employer, you are asked to provide a one day a week opportunity within your business for a student at no cost to you. You might find a new employee to help bolster your workforce.

Apprenticeships are a cost-effective way to draw new skills into your workforce, allowing you to train and develop new employees to meet hospitality standards. An apprentice will work with you for up to 30 hours per week combined with 20% off the job training. We currently offer a range of apprenticeships to suit a variety of business professions, such as Retail, Events, Commis Chef and Production Chef.

Developing your current workforce Investing in your team’s career development builds trust with your employees and enhances workplace productivity. It also allows you to create a multi-skilled team that can help generate business growth.

Glebegate Restaurant ‘Where food is education’ Have you experienced our college restaurant?

The Glebegate is open to the public and offers three course lunches and a fine dining dinner experience. They use fresh and locally sourced produce wherever possible and the restaurant is fully licensed, offering a broad range of quality wines and beers from local and continental brewers. Why don’t you book a table?

Anyone of any age can be an apprentice. Your employees can earn the same wage and can bring new skills back into your business. We have many Hospitality and Catering apprenticeships that can be used to develop your workforce.

CPD training We offer classroom, online and blended learning options through our range of CPD and certified qualifications as well as bespoke workplace training packages. These courses have been guided by professionals within your sector.
