Construction training for your current and future workforce.

In the UK over three million people work in the construction trades. This huge sector is worth £110 billion to the economy.

As a nation, we have become dedicated to the design of our own homes and commercial buildings which up 45 percent of all UK construction projects, meaning plenty of opportunities for skilled labourers and those starting out their career in the sector.

We have strong relationships with local construction and trade businesses, meaning that we are able to listen and respond to requirements to address potential future skills shortages and gaps within the sector. This has meant that our construction training is constantly evolving to meet the needs of builders’ merchants and skilled trades such as plumbers, fitters, decorators, landscapers and much more.

Here at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, we provide an immersive learning environment, which incorporates spacious workshops at our Harrowbrook and Wigston campus. Our workshops contain industry-standard equipment to deliver construction training to support the demand of talented tradespeople, and suit the wider needs of your business.

Industry placements

Apprenticeships

Our industry placement programme allows NWSLC students to get a taste for work in an industry they love alongside full-time study. As an employer, you are asked to provide a one day a week opportunity within your business for a student at no cost to you. You might find a new employee to help bolster your workforce.

Apprenticeships are a cost-effective way to draw new skills into your workforce, allowing you to train and develop new employees to meet workshop standards. An apprentice will work with you for up to 30 hours per week combined with 20% off the job training. We currently offer a range of apprenticeships to suit a variety of construction trades such as Painter and Decorator, Bricklayer as well as Carpentry and Joinery.

Developing your current workforce Investing in your team’s career development builds trust with your employees and enhances workplace productivity. It also allows you to create a multi-skilled team that can help generate business growth.

Apprenticeships Anyone of any age can be an apprentice. Your employees can earn the same wage and can bring new skills back into your business. We have many construction apprenticeships that can be used to develop your workforce.
