vermeende makkers. Drie van hulle is op borgtog vrygelaat.
Hulle word gesamentlik of afsonderlik verdink dat hulle by etlike bendeverwante voorvalle vanaf Augustus 2020 tot Februarie 2023 in Kimberley en Kuruman betrokke was. Hulle het glo geld uit dwelmhandel gemaak. Die vroue is glo as dwelmmuile gebruik.
My kinders ly.

Ek wil eerder by die huis by my familie wees.

heuekaart weg is.
Zwakala ontken laasgenoemde opleiding.
’n Ander getuie, lt. kol Nomahlubi Mbelebele, wat op 23 Oktober die stasiebevelvoerder by die Kagisho-polisiekantoor was, het in kruisondervraging ontken dat die aanklagkantoor se hekkie of voordeur ooit gesluit was of dat niemand aan diens was nie, wat sou verhoed dat iemand soos Zwakala klagtes kon indien.
Advv.
Arrests land fraud suspects in court
HELENA BARNARD
After a series of “marathon arrests” in the Northern Cape, several suspects appeared in court on charges of fraud, money laundering, and withholding third party payments.
A team of the Kimberley Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit arrested Randile Jacobs Shuping (38) on 27 March, in Victoria West.
Shuping is accused of withholding third party payments while serving as a chief financial officer (CFO) at the Thembelihle Local Municipality, says Lt. Col Tebogo Thebe, spokesperson for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks).
The contravention apparently took place from February 2021 to July 2023, with one of the affected third parties the Consolidated Retirement Pension Fund (CFR).
This contravention left the Thembelihle Local Municipality with a debt of over R6 million in pension fund contributions for employees, thereby contravening Section 13A of the Pension

Fund Act, with 1 800 counts of said contravention.
Shuping appeared in the Hopetown Magistrates’ Court. He was released on R5 000 bail. His next court appearance will be on 25 April.
‘Pocketing cash payment’
On the same day, the team arrested two cashiers of the Phokwane Local Municipality in Hartswater for fraud, alternative theft, and money laundering.
Thato Morake (34) and Ayanda Ndwanya (35) are accused of defrauding the municipality from January 2022 to August 2023.
Thebe says auditing undertaken by the municipality revealed the duo captured municipal payments as direct deposits in the internal financial ledgers while it did not reflect in the bank statements.
It appears that the suspects were pocketing cash payments for personal use and reflecting it as directs deposits.
The municipality suffered a total loss of over R3 million.

Promises ‘never honoured’ In another unrelated case, also in Hartswater, Ruan Maritz (30) was arrested for fraud and money laundering. He was arrested on 25 March by members of the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit.
Allegations are that the accused misrepresented to the complainants and other victims that he is a broker for Quick Trade Investment and Forex Trading. The investment contract stipulated that when clients invest 50%, the broker would add the same percentage, a promise the suspect apparently never honoured. The victims suffered a loss amounting to R2 million.
Maritz made a brief appearance before the Hartswater Magistrates’ Court on 26 March, and was granted bail of R50 000. The matter is postponed to 12 May. The provincial head of the Hawks, Maj. Gen. Stephen Mabuela, expressed his appreciation to the investigation teams.

Physicality holds the key
HELENA BARNARD
To play, move, and learn – and to see a smile on the face of someone accomplishing something never done before.
This describes the main objectives of a community engagement project hosted for its third time at the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in Kimberley. As before, the SPU Inter-faculty Community Engagement Project coincides with the university’s annual Community Big Walk on 15 March on the campus.
As before, Rambo the horse and his pony friends were the main attraction. Even Gemmie, the Gemsbok mascot of the SPU, showed up to enjoy a ride on horse-back.
Apart from children and adults enjoying an assisted pony or horse ride for free, a reading nook, stations to take part in indigenous games and to play a round of board games with friends were erected by lecturers of several faculties, with the help of students.
“We do it for a smile on a face, to assist people who want to achieve something they never done before,” said Dr Eleanor Addinall of the Faculty of Humanities.
Sulette Bruwer of the Faculty of Education says the project could not have been possible without the assistance of other lecturers and staff members of the university. They are also pleased with the response from students when asked for approximately 20 volunteers to assist at the different stations.
Research shows a definite relationship between the physical and cognitive development of a child throughout all stages, Addinall wrote in a project

skills. Big motoric skills include body awareness, balance, laterality, mid-line crossing, muscle tone, spatial orientation, rhythm and coordination, as well as direction. Fine motoric skills include reach, point, place, grasp, release, push, pull, shake, squeeze, tap and twist.
In this annual project, the physical and cognitive aspects of a child’s development are connected through games, horse riding, playing, reading, and more.
Bruwer says horse-riding is not only fun and therapeutic, but contributes to physical development. When offering these free rides, some people get on horse-back for the first time ever.

Rides are overseen by Bruwer, who has horsemanship skills and has used these animals for riding lessons for children before. She is supported by WO Abraham Basie of the police’s Mounted unit, and Addinall, who both have experience in equine assisted therapy.

Interessant in hierdie spesifieke gesprek is hoe nederigheid mense juis aantrek.

My pa was ’n kwaai mens.

Min gepla. Sommige kyk vlugtig, ander knip skaars ’n oog.
