Ou seja, sempre que abrimos uma revista de skate portuguesa, ou assistimos a um programa de "desportos radicais" (assim lhe chamam), aparecem sempre os mesmos e as pseudó lendas do skate (como os amigos que são, donos de revistas ou outro media lhes chamam). Isso não é informação, mas sim controlo de informação, visto que em Portugal há imensos skaters e clubes\associações em varias partes do País que não tem reconhecimento (ou não convém por assim dizer). Nós vimos dar a voz a estes skaters e clubes\associações, quem quiser mandar fotos, artigos, canais de youtube, o que vocês acharem importante partilhar com a comunidade skater em portugal, podem mandar para: nbskatemag@hotmail.com . Quando tiveste a noção de que podias fazer do skate a tua profissão e isso é o que sempre quiseste fazer ? Eu queria ser Bruce Lee em primeiro lugar e então eu tenho um skate e foi isso. Fizeste parte da geração perdida do vert . quando o street skate apareceu como lida-te com isso? Não existe uma geração perdida do Vert porque eu não estou perdido e muitos outros. Eu acho que foi onde a indústria teve que acompanhar com os tempos do nível do consumidor. Eu posso e eu construo skate se eu tenho pago ou não. 100% skater :)) Para ti o que é uma Killer session? Tendo um grande dia numa pool com os meus amigos e não me magoar.
quando é que deus entrou na tua vida e em que circunstâncias ? Eu nunca fui à igreja ou li a bíblia enquanto cresci. Eu não tinha convicção de pecado . Como eu cresci eu queria ter satisfação. As capas de revistas , o dinheiro, a fama, as gajas, os troféus, as viagens ao redor do mundo nunca me satisfez. Então eu comecei a tentar encontrar minha identidade em drogas e festas até o ponto onde skate e família tomou um banco traseiro . E então eu aterrei na prisão. Olhando para dez anos. A minha namorada, que agora é minha esposa disse hoje “Deus vai nos ajudar ?” Eu disse a ela: " Eu preciso de um advogado? O que Deus vai fazer por mim? " Ela disse-me para ir buscar uma bíblia. Eu fui e peguei uma bíblia e abria pela primeira vez na minha vida . O Meu nome é Christian , meu apelido Christ e o inventor do Christ Air nunca tinha lido uma bíblia ... Naquela noite eu clamei a Deus para me ajudar e ele fez exatamente isso. Eu pedi para Jesus Cristo para entrar em meu coração e o amor , alegria paz entrou em minha vida , pela primeira vez na história! Satisfação final ! Tornei-me um cristão naquele dia e foi duas semanas na minha pena de prisão de cinco anos . Todo mundo diz que é uma vergonha que Christian passou de liberdade toda a sua vida para ficar trancado . Eu digo o seu oposto ... Eu fui de prisão toda a minha vida não conhecer a Deus e que existe um céu para ficar numa cela de prisão e ser libertado pelo poder do amor de Deus , misericórdia, perdão e graça que me capacita a viver uma vida para Cristo. Sou o Cesinha Chaves, Carioca, Skatista, Produtor de TV, Macintóshico, Budista e Amigo. Estou com 58 anos e a 1a vez que subi num skate foi em 1968, num “surfinho: de um primo, feito com um patins Estrela separado em 2 e pregado numa tábua. Em que ano começaste a skatar? 1968 foi o meu 1º contato, mas entrei de cabeça definitivamente em 1976, quando conheci a pista de Nova Iguaçu, a 1a da América Latina. Até ali eu era um surfista que andava de skate. Depois que comecei a frequentar a pista, me tornei um skatista que pegava onda. Qual foi o teu 1º skate? Esse do meu primo, e depois conseguir comprar de um gringo que frequentava a Fortaleza de São João um Nash Sidewalk Surfboards, com clay wheels. Quem foram as tuas influências no sk8? No 1º momento, o surf. Depois com o desenvolvimento do skate, passei a curtir a galera de Dogtown - Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Stacy Peralta, Bob Biniak … - que andava em piscinas, algo bem próximo ao surf, ao meu ver. Quem são as tuas favoritas skateboard legends? Hoje em dia? Tony Alva, Steve Caballero, Duane Peters, Chris Miller, Christian Hosoi estão entre alguns que admiro. Que tipo de musica curtes? Como viste o “Grito da Rua”, quando apareceu nos 80? Não assistia o Grito da Rua, pois era só exibido em SP. Agora o “Grito da Rua” voltou, cada vez tem mais conexões com outros países, como por exemplo o meu Portugal, como vês esta evolução? Agora com a internet está tudo mais fácil, qualquer um pode fazer um “canal de TV” e bombar seus vídeos. Viva a web! Se existisse uma maquina do tempo, o que tu gostavas de voltar atrás no tempo para reviver? Pergunta capciosa… O melhor lugar e tempo para se viver, é sempre AQUI e AGORA, mas não dá ara negar que seria interessante se tivesse a possibilidade de voltar no tempo e andar de novo em alguns picos que andei com a galera da época. Como é que vês a situação que o skate mundial esta a passar com a crise? Crise? Com skateparks brotando como cogumelos depois da chuva nas mais distintas partes do planeta??? Comecei a andar de skate com 8 anos de idade, no ano de 1974. Sou brasileiro de São Paulo, tenho 47 anos e ando de skate a 39 anos. Qual foi o teu primeiro skate? Meu primeiro skate eu que montei, com uns eixos de patins e um pedaço de tábua. Depois ganhei um Torlay.
Quem foram tuas influências no sk8? Acho que minha influencia veio de programas de tv e de campeonatos de skate que meu pai me levava de vez em quando, eu praticava esqui aquático toda semana e isso ajudou muito. Quem são as tuas lendas do skate favoritas? Toda a galera de Moema, Álvaro Porquê, Jun Hashimoto, Arizinho, Kao Tai, Márcio Tanabe, Jorge Kuge, Rogério Antigo, Fernandinho Batman, Coruja, Bruno Brown, Throon de Shit (quem me deu o apelido de Not Dead) e outros brasileiros. Só brasileiros. Que tipo de música tu curtes ? Curto qualquer música bem tocada, de vários estilos, gosto muito de hardcore e punk rock.
Para vocês o Grito da Rua era uma espécie de Bíblia do skate, como vês o Grito da Rua? achas que foi um grande impulsionador na informação do skate brasileiro? O grito da rua foi um programa muito importante no Brasil, na época não tínhamos nenhum programa na tv. Eu fui produtor do programa e adorava fazer as matérias. Spot favorito ? Antigo praça Rosevelt, ladeira da morte, São Berrnardo do Campo, Ibirapuera. O que é para ti uma Killer session e fazias com quem? Não sei oque é killer session, mas eu andava com a galera de Moema todo o dia 18 horas por dia, nós andávamos pela cidade inteira de skate, indo aos picos e nas casas de amigos e de minas, pras baladas também a gente ia de skate.
Tu foste um skater que passou varias gerações e épocas no skate brasileiro, para ti qual foram os momentos mais difíceis que o skate brasileiro passou? Os piores momentos foram quando o prefeito de São Paulo proibiu a prática de skate em toda a cidade, a polícia caiu matando. Depois foi quando o presidente Fernando Collor de Melo, entrou no poder e confiscou a poupança de todas as pessoas, aí fudeu de vez. Se tivesses a possibilidade de voltar atrás no tempo, o que tu gostavas de reviver? Não gostaria de voltar a trás no tempo, sou feliz com o que vivi, são experiencias que tive, umas boas, outras ruins. Quem anda pra trás é caranguejo. Estiveste aqui em Portugal nos 80, mais uma quantidade de malta irada do skate brasileiro. Que diferenças é que notas-te em relação ao tipo de skate aqui praticado? Quando cheguei em Portugal, notei que os portuguese tinham muita vontade de aprender, muita coragem , mas nenhuma informação e nenhum apoio. Percebi que eram poucos os que andavam em ladeiras, e bem poucos com uma base boa. O skate estava começando em Portugal, foi o que me pareceu.
O que te levou a sair de Portugal? Sabemos que foste um dos membros do começo do associativismo do skate em Portugal, que nos contas desse tempo? Ainda manténs contacto com os elementos desse tempo? Sabes que tens fãs que ainda se lembram bem de ti. Há quem pense que puseram-te de parte e isso contribui para te afastares desse clube na época( Radical Skate Clube). Saí de Portugal depois de me separar da minha mulher e do meu filho. Não via mais sentido em ficar num país que não fosse o de minha origem. Estava muito triste e começando a me enfiar nas drogas, então resolvi voltar pra meu país. Fui um dos fundadores do Radical Skate Clube, eu e o Paulo construímos as nossas rampas na serralharia do pai dele, o Sr. Raul, que ficava em Moscavide, trabalhamos muito e fomos muito felizes nesse tempo. O Paulo e a Dulce foram as pessoas mais incríveis que conheci em toda a minha vida, amigos verdadeiros que me amavam e me ajudaram muito. Devo muito aos dois, nunca me deixaram de lado, se existem pessoas a quem devo muito, são os dois. Acredito que tenho fãs daquela época, afinal fui um bom skatista que andava muito rápido e levava as minhas manobras ao extremo, acho que essa é a razão. Alguma vez tu já pensa-te em regressar a Portugal? Não tenho vontade de ir pra Portugal morar como fiz naquela época, mas gostaria de ir visitar meus amigos Paulo e Dulce do Radical Skate Clube e ver meu filho que mora em Samora Correia.
Qual é o teu objetivo como um skater , o que tu gostavas de obter com o skate ? Eu sempre andei de skate pra me divertir, virei profissional por acaso, nunca pensei em competir. Gostar de skate não tem explicação. Pra ter uma ideia eu não tenho nenhum troféu que ganhei nas competições. Gostava do assédio da mulherada e de andar pela cidade de São Paulo a noite. Adorava andar na Praça dos Restauradores. Obrigado por aceitares o nosso convite de novo, queres dar alguns conselhos para skaters portugueses e do resto do mundo que estão a começar no skate ? Quem dá conselho é Padre, cada um que corra com suas próprias pernas. Só acho que hoje em dia existem muitos posers e muitas regras no skate. Skate or die. Valeu. Muitos aqui em Portugal, tem a mania que são lendas de skate, só pelo facto de terem amigos na comunicação social não vûs faz lendas. Se alguém merece ser tratado como tal é o Not. Porque ele fez muito por nós e nem sequer foi referido no museu nacional do desporto (em Portugal). Por isso a Not Bullshit Skate Mag, glorificou no inicio deste ano o NOT DEAD com o Legendfuckindary Award (glorificação exclusive da nossa revista e somos originais, não permitimos jurís a competir para prémios, como os posers que nos copiam e referem-se como revolucionários no sk8 em Portugal).

Olá Amigos da Not Bullshit Skate Mag, obrigado pelo convite, e é sempre bom interagir com os skatistas de outros países, passando um pouco de nossas experiencias do Brasil, tenho 50 anos, sou de São Paulo, filho de imigrantes japoneses, skatista, empresário fundador da marca URGH, faço parte da geração dos pioneiros do skate no Brasil, meu contato com o skate foi em 1974, meu primeiro skate montei com pedaço de madeira e peças de um patins de minha irmã, aprendi a ter noção de equilíbrio, e 1976 efetivamente comecei a andar com um skate Bhanne, eixo de latão e rodas de borrachas, e acompanhei a evolução do skate desde então, em 78 já estava participando de minhas primeiras competições de cross country, 3 voltas de 4 minutos de apresentação (impulso, slalom, 360, foot work, high jump, barrel jump, quarter, etc..) basicamente um pouco de tudo, duravam uma eternidade, fiz down hill, freestyle e atualmente gosto muito de andar em transições. Quem foram as tuas influencias no sk8? A revista Skateboader teve um papel fundamental para os skatistas brasileiros de minha geração 70's, talvez tenha sido a principal fonte de informação, e com certeza os skatistas que estavam em evidencia eram os ídolos na época, Tony Alva, Shogo Kubo, Doug Pineaple, George Orthon, Duanne Peters, entre outros, e depois vieram as mídias locais, que ajudaram a criar os nossos próprios ídolos, Cesar Chaves, Bruno Brown, Kao Tai, Jun Hashimoto, Luiz Formiga, entre outros. Que tipo de musica curtes? Rock'n roll, e para andar de skate nada melhor que um Agente Orange / TSOL / Suicidal Tendences / Grinders / Bregadeth / Dementedores. Spot Favorito? O mercado americano e europeu atualmente estão passando por uma crise, por outro lado o Brasil tem vivido um dos melhores momentos, outrora descriminado, chamado de pais de piratas e hoje é cobiçad explorado pelas mesmas marcas que repudiavam, o triste é ver essas marcas colherem frutos de traba dos tempos difíceis que as nacionais semearam as duras penas, pelo fato do consumidor brasileiro ser bombardeado pela mídia americana e manipulam o consumo das marcas de fora, e investem muito pou por aqui, mas o que se vê hoje, muitos skatistas brasileiros tem valorizado e alguns estão criando suas próprias marcas locais, e uma grande mudança está para acontecer, e o orgulho que tínhamos nos ano parece que está de volta. Qual o teu objectivo enquanto skater, o que gostavas de conseguir com o skate?
Nunca parei de andar de skate nestes últimos 37 anos e pretendo continuar enquanto o corpo aguentar me deu tudo que tenho, Amigos, Trabalho, desporto, Viagens, Satisfação Profissional e Pessoal, me considero muito abençoado por isso., neste momento estou com a minha clavícula fraturada por uma q no evento da Swell Old is Cool, 3 meses estou de volta,,,,rsrsrs

asil o skate sempre passou por dificuldades, pela falta de produtos, lugares para andar, falta de tudo, a politica dificultava a importação de produtos tivemos que criar uma cena própria, com marcas , produtos nacionais, construímos um mercado do zero, e quando pensávamos que tinham finalmente do a consolidar o skate, veio o plano Collor onde o governo sequestrou economias da população alou o caos financeiro, com isso o mercado do skate foi muito prejudicado, o Brasil inteiro estacionou cos restaram para manter a chama do skate aceso no Brasil, com o tempo houve muitas mudanças na a e no final dos 90's começaram a entrar os produtos estrangeiros, e aos poucos a retomada do do com características internacionais, o Brasil passou a fazer parte da globalização, reconhecido grande celeiro de grandes talentos.

o da Rua foi um marco para os programas especificamente de skate na Tv aberta, foi pioneira e um e incentivador do skate 80's e difundia o desporto e estilo de vida, ditava tendências de maneira rápida va, tocada pelo seu fundador o amigo Badeco, e segue com a mesma essência hoje em dia.

What year did you start skate? 1973. what was your 1st skateboard? my pops made me a home made board made out of fiberglass with stocker trucks and cadillac wheels Hawaii that year. Who were your influences in sk8? Jay Adams, tony Alva, shogo Kubo, polar bear, George Wilson, Pat Ngoho, ray bones Rodriguez. Who are some of your favorite legends? all the above and Danny Way. when you had the notion that you could make it your profession and this is what you always wanted to do? I wanted to be Bruce Lee at first and then i got a skateboard and that was it. I wanted to be the best in the world at martial arts and then I wanted to be the best skateboarder in the world.
You are part of the lost generation of vert guys. when the street skate appeared how you deal with this? There is no lost generation of Vert Guys because I'm not lost and the many others. I think it was where the industry had to keep up with the times in where skateboarding was going on a consumer level. when god came in your life in what circumstances? I never went to church or read a bible growing up. I had no conviction of sin. As I grew up I wanted to be satisfied. The covers of magazines, the money, the fame, the girls, the trophies, the traveling around the world never satisfy me. So I started to try to find my identity in drugs and partying to the point where skateboarding and family took a back seat. And then I landed in prison. Looking at ten years. My girlfriend who is my wife today said Gods going to help us? I said to her "I need a lawyer? What's God going to do for me?" She told me to go get a bible. I went And got a bible and opened it for the first time in my life. My names Christian, my nickname Christ and the inventor of the Christ air and never read a bible... That night I cried out to God to help me and He did just that. I asked for Jesus Christ to come into my heart and the love ,joy peace came Into my life for the first time ever! Ultimate satisfaction!! I became a Christian that day and it was two weeks into my five year prison sentence. Everyone says its such a shame that Christian went from freedom his whole life to getting locked up. I say its the opposite... I went from prison my whole life not knowing God and that there is a heaven to getting in a prison cell and getting set free by the power of Gods love, mercy, forgiveness and grace that empowers me to live a life for Christ.
