A LEGEND ELECTIFIED

END OF AN ERA

New ‘ULTIMATE EDITION’ Type R marks end of sales for iconic model in europe

Honda is marking the end of an era for its legendary Civic Type R in Europe with a special ‘Ultimate Edition’—a tribute to nearly three decades of high-performance engineering. Limited to just 40 units across the region, this exclusive version will be available alongside remaining standard models ahead of the Civic Type R’s European departure in 2026.

Celebrating 28 years of hot hatch excellence, the Ultimate Edition is finished in Honda’s signature Championship White, enhanced with striking red decals that run across the bonnet and down the sides—echoing the car’s iconic red Type R badge. A black-painted roof and carbon-fibre details, including the rear wing spoiler and doorstep garnishes, complete the bold exterior.

The carbon-fibre theme carries over into the cabin, highlighted by a carbon centre console panel. Ambient lighting accentuates key interior areas such as the door trims, cup holders, footwells, and beneath the seats. When the front doors open, a Type R logo projector lights up the ground, adding to the model’s distinctive character.

Each Ultimate Edition owner will receive a bespoke gift set, including a numbered plaque (1–40), a carbon keyring, custom floor mats, and a car cover—designed to reflect the uniqueness of this final edition. It’s a true collector’s piece for any Type R enthusiast.

“As we prepare to say goodbye to one of Honda’s most iconic models in Europe, the Ultimate Edition gives

fans a final opportunity to celebrate the Civic Type R’s remarkable journey,” said Hannah Swift, Head of European Strategy and Product at Honda Motor Europe. “Our lineup is evolving in response to industry changes and European regulations, but the Type R has always represented our purest expression of driving passion. We look forward to honouring its legacy in the months ahead.”

With the release of this Ultimate Edition, Honda pays homage to the Civic Type R’s legacy—one defined by innovation, speed, and the thrill of driving.

The Civic Type R made its debut in 1997 with the sixth-generation Civic in Japan, quickly establishing itself as a benchmark for front-wheel-drive performance. Over five successive generations and numerous special editions, the Type R has built a loyal global following.

Its reputation has been forged not only on roads but also on racetracks around the world. The Civic Type R has repeatedly set lap records for front-wheel-drive production cars at iconic circuits such as the Nürburgring Nordschleife (Germany), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Suzuka (Japan), Silverstone (UK), and Mount Panorama Bathurst (Australia), among others.

Beyond individual achievements, the Type R has also been a force

in motorsport, particularly in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). Its success in these competitions—where all vehicles are based on production front-wheeldrive models—has seen it earn multiple drivers’ and team titles, further cementing its status as a performance icon.

A MAZDA MILESTONE

Mazda CX-5 UK sales pass 100,000 units

A key chapter in Mazda’s success story, the Mazda CX-5 has been a global sales hit with production of over 4.5million units to date. It’s been just as popular in the UK and this spring the 100,000th Mazda CX-5 was sold in the UK - helping to ensure that the ever-popular SUV remains Mazda’s best-selling car in the UK.

Launched in 2012, the original CX-5 was the first production car to feature both Mazda’s Kodo Soul of Motion design philosophy and Skyactiv engine technology. It followed the Minagi concept car, which hinted at the SUV’s award-winning styling, which was seen in production form for the first time at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show where the CX-5 was revealed. An instant sales success, which was praised by media and customers alike for its combination of driver appeal, practicality and style, the Mazda CX-5 is a landmark car in Mazda’s history.

After a substantial update in 2015, the second-generation CX-5 was launched in 2017, while another update was implemented in 2022. Today, the current Mazda CX-5 features 24v Mazda M Hybrid mildhybrid technology across all petrol models and cylinder deactivation on 165ps petrol automatic models, while the 184ps Skyactiv-D diesel remains in the range.

Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK, said: “the Mazda CX-5 is an incredibly important car in Mazda’s history. From the launch of the original first-generation car in 2012 it has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers, who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement.”

“It’s a car that has seen amazing customer loyalty and satisfaction, so it’s great that sales have passed 100,000 in the UK. It’s incredible to look back and consider just how much the UK market has changed since the CX-5’s launch in 2012.

The huge increase in the popularity of SUVs means that today the CX-5 sits alongside the 2025 Mazda CX60, all-new Mazda CX-80 and the smaller Mazda CX-30 in our line-up, but it was the success of the awardwinning CX-5 that established Mazda

as a maker of genuinely sporty SUVs, which deliver class leading quality and high levels of standard equipment.”

Adding, “now part of an SUV lineup that offers customers a wide choice depending on their motoring needs. The current Mazda CX-5 is an example of how Mazda’s successive updates and refinements to every aspect of this ever-popular SUV have kept it competitive and I look forward to what the future holds for this fantastic SUV.”

“It has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers, who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement.”

PEUGEOT E-208 GTi

A Legendary Name Electrified

PEUGEOT has unveiled the E-208 GTi, the first fully electric GTi in the brand’s storied history, bringing iconic driving pleasure into a new era of performance and sustainability. Revealed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans—a nod to the brand’s motorsport DNA—the new model blends heritage, innovation, and unmistakable French flair.

Forty years after the iconic 205 GTi made its debut, the GTi badge returns with more power and purpose than ever before. With 280hp, 345 Nm of torque, and a 0–62 mph time of 5.7 seconds, the E-208 GTi sets a new benchmark for electric hot hatches in the compact segment.

“This is more than a car—it’s a new chapter in the GTi legend,” said Alain Favey, CEO of PEUGEOT. “The E-208 GTi fuses our performance heritage with cutting-edge electric technology to redefine driving excitement.”

A Hot Hatch Reimagined

The E-208 GTi is the result of close collaboration between PEUGEOT Design and PEUGEOT Sport, with performance engineering influenced by experience in the World Endurance Championship. Its powerful electric motor is built in Trémery, France, and

paired with a 54kWh battery, offering a range of 217 miles (WLTP)—ideal for daily use and weekend thrills alike.

PEUGEOT’s engineers fine-tuned the chassis for maximum agility, lowering the ride height by 30mm, widening the front and rear tracks, and fitting 18-inch GTi wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. A limited-slip differential enhances handling, while 355mm front brake discs with fourpiston callipers provide exceptional stopping power.

A Nod to the Past, Built for the Future

Visually, the E-208 GTi channels the spirit of the 205 GTi, with bold but refined styling. Subtle red accents highlight its sporty character—from the grille to the brake callipers— while widened arches and a discreet aerodynamic diffuser complete its

aggressive stance. A striking exclusive red body colour pays homage to its legendary predecessor. Inside, red seatbelts, carpets, and detailed stitching set a distinctly sporty tone. Deep, supportive seats echo the design of the 205 GTi 1.9, while the compact steering wheel, wrapped in Alcantara and perforated leather, keeps the driver connected. The PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® offers custom performance graphics and red ambient lighting to enhance the experience.

A unique sound experience tied to motor performance further immerses the driver, with an on/off option to suit any mood.

“This is more than a car - it’s a new chapter in the GTi legend,”

Smart features and portable power into one sleek package.

PEUGEOT has also included a full suite of smart features such as the MyPEUGEOT® app for remote cabin pre-conditioning, route planning, and battery management. The E-208 GTi also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), making it possible to power small appliances or charge devices on the go.

Designed for Driving, Built to Last

Despite its high-performance edge, the E-208 GTi remains a practical daily driver. Fast charging capabilities allow for a 20–80% recharge in under 30 minutes using a 100 kW DC charger, while a new 80% charge limit function supports everyday efficiency.

A New Era for the GTi Legacy

From the 205 to the 208, PEUGEOT’s GTi badge has always stood for performance, charisma, and joy behind the wheel. With the E-208 GTi, that tradition not only continues—it accelerates into the future.

With class-leading electric performance, meticulous design, and unmistakable heritage, the E-208 GTi is more GTi than ever — just electric.

PULLING POWER

Kodiaq named Tow Car of the Year by What Car? and the Camping and Caravan Club

The new Škoda Kodiaq has shown it’s more than just a family SUV –it’s now officially the best in the business for towing, according to What Car? and The Camping and Caravanning Club. The Czech SUV has been named overall Tow Car of the Year 2025 after seeing off a raft of competition and impressing a panel of expert judges.

The new Kodiaq, which was tested in 2.0 TDI 193PS SportLine DSG 4x4 form, topped the ‘1,700-1,999kg’ category, and scored higher than any of its 35 rivals to drive off with the overall crown of Tow Car of the Year. Remarkably, Škoda has now won eight overall Tow Car of the Year titles, and recorded 36 category wins – making it one of the most successful marques in the history of the awards.

The judging panel, comprised of car and towing experts from What Car? and the Camping and Caravan Club, conducted a series of tests at the Horiba-MIRA proving ground in Warwickshire with a range of caravans. Trials included an emergency lane-change, 30-60mph acceleration, 30-0mph braking, and a hill start on a 1-in-6 slope. All test vehicles were also rated for their towing suitability, with boot space and trailer stability systems also taken into account.

Commenting on the Kodiaq’s win, What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford, said: “As always, we look for cars that can be enjoyed every day as well as while towing. As a daily driver the Kodiaq strikes a near ideal ride and handling balance. Keen drivers can enjoy themselves, but the car is comfortable for passengers. There’s enough space for seven to come along for the ride, and the driving position is spot on.”

“Kodiaq strikes a near ideal ride and handling balance.”

Referencing the Kodiaq’s towing ability, Huntingford added: “The Kodiaq ticks all the right boxes while towing. It’s very stable at the legal limit, and the engine has enough poke for nipping past dawdling traffic.”

The Kodiaq wasn’t the only Škoda model recognised by the What Car? and Camping and Caravan Club judges. The new Elroq, launched earlier this year, took its first tow car award by winning the ‘Electric car up to 1200kg’ category.

Škoda has long been a supporter of owners who use their vehicles to tow. All models in the current range can be specified with a factory-fitted tow bar and electrics, with selected models adding the option of an electrically-retractable tow hitch.

Kia also emphasizes sustainability with Dinamica®, a premium microfiber suede fabric made with a high percentage of recycled polyester, featured in door and seat inserts. The water-based production process and increasing recycled content highlight Kia’s commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing.

Passenger comfort is ample, with over one meter of rear legroom and a spacious cargo area offering 587 litres behind the second row, expandable to 1,776 litres with the seats folded. Hybrid models include a dual-level cargo floor to enhance load flexibility.

Advanced Technology and Connectivity

The Sportage’s digital cockpit centres on the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (CCnC), combining dual 12.3inch curved panoramic displays and a 10-inch head-up display for easy access to navigation, infotainment, and driver assistance information.

Wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ come standard, while Kia Connect enables over-the-air updates to add new features without dealership visits. The innovative Feature-on-Demand platform allows drivers to add apps like arcade games and streaming services such as YouTube, enhancing the infotainment experience.

Convenience features include Kia In-Car Payment for on-street parking, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot supporting up to five devices, and Connected Routing that optimises travel routes based on real-time and historical traffic data. Efficient Powertrains and Dynamic Driving

At launch, the new Sportage offers petrol and hybrid powertrain options to suit varied customer preferences. The petrol version features a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol direct injection (T-GDI) engine delivering 150 ps, paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and front-wheel drive.

The hybrid model combines the same 1.6-liter turbo engine with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing a combined 239 ps. It is available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, providing a blend of performance and efficiency.

Kia has engineered the Sportage for dynamic driving, aided by aerodynamic design, a low centre of gravity, and new-generation transmissions, resulting in confident handling and smooth ride quality.

Comprehensive Safety and Driver Assistance

Kia equips the Sportage with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) aimed at enhancing safety:

· Auto Emergency Braking detects pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles, automatically applying brakes to prevent collisions.

AN EPIC ADVENTURE

“Each year we aim to push the boundaries, and 2025 was no exception— this tour created unforgettable memories for every rider involved.”

Honda Adventure Roads 2025: An Epic Eight-Country Journey Completed

The fifth edition of Honda Adventure Roads wrapped up after an unforgettable eight-country expedition that began on June 8th, 2025, in Rome, Italy. Over the course of nine exhilarating days, 35 riders from 19 different countries tackled a once-in-a-lifetime journey across the Balkans, concluding in the vibrant city of Istanbul, Turkey.

Riders navigated a challenging 2,500km route aboard Honda’s flagship adventure bike, the CRF1100L Africa Twin—a machine renowned for its durability, balance, and offroad capability. The route combined tarmac, gravel, and rugged terrain, testing both rider and machine across some of Europe’s most dramatic landscapes. Starting from the iconic landmarks of Rome, the group travelled east toward the Adriatic coast

before ferrying to Croatia, continuing down through Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, and then venturing inland through Albania to the stunning Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia. The journey twisted through Greece, tracing the Aegean coastline via Thasos and Alexandropolis, before riders made the final leg across Turkey to their ultimate destination in Istanbul.

The 2025 edition marked the most comprehensive Adventure Roads yet, supported by a robust lineup of partners. For the first time, Pro Honda oils and Dunlop joined the adventure, alongside established names like Enduristan, Cardo, Barkbusters, Alpinestars, and Montesa Honda, the official supplier of Honda motorcycle accessories. Pro Honda provided its advanced range of oils and lubricants, engineered specifically for Honda

engines and transmissions, helping reduce friction and improve fuel efficiency throughout the demanding route. Dunlop equipped every Africa Twin with Trailmax Raid tyres, their 50/50 on/off-road tyre designed to handle the hybrid terrain of this epic tour. Participants also benefited from premium accessories and safety gear, enhancing both performance and comfort over the extensive journey.

“We were very pleased to welcome Dunlop as the official tyre partner for the 2025 Honda Adventure Roads,” said Nick Bennett, Honda Motor Europe Brand Marketing Section Manager. “Along with Pro Honda oils, their involvement elevated the experience and added a new dimension to the Adventure Roads legacy. Each year we aim to push the boundaries, and 2025 was no exception—this tour created unforgettable memories for every rider involved.”

As the riders reached the finish line in Istanbul, the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie was evident—proof once again that Honda Adventure Roads is more than just a ride; it’s an experience that blends adventure, challenge, and the open road spirit like no other.
