ALL-NEW MAZDA6E

Mazda’s commitment to safety and design excellence has been reaffirmed with the announcement that the all-new Mazda6e has achieved the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP. Following an extensive series of crash and safety tests, the results confirm the Mazda6e as one of the safest electric vehicles in its class. The fully electric model scored 93% for both Adult Occupant and Child Occupant protection, alongside 74% for Vulnerable Road Users and 77% for Safety Assist systems.

Adult Occupant protection

In the Adult Occupant protection assessment, the Mazda6e impressed across all test areas. It achieved maximum points in the side-barrier impact test, which simulates collisions from another vehicle at an intersection, and provided good or adequate protection to all critical body areas in the more demanding side-pole test. These results demonstrate the strength of the car’s passenger cell and the effectiveness of its restraint systems.

Further innovation was shown through the introduction of a farside airbag system. This new feature reduces the risk of injury caused by contact between the driver and front passenger during a side impact, offering good protection for both occupants. In addition, the head restraints on both the front and rear seats were commended for offering good protection against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision scenario.

Child Occupant protection

The Mazda6e also achieved 93% in the Child Occupant category. The car performed exceptionally well in frontal and lateral impact tests using six-and-ten-year-old child dummies, earning maximum points in both areas.

When evaluating the child restraint system (CRS) installation this also achieved a perfect result, confirming that popular child seats can be safely and securely installed in the Mazda6e.

Euro NCAP further recognised the car’s Occupancy Monitoring System, which alerts the driver if a child or passenger has been left inside the vehicle unattended, an increasingly important safety feature in modern family cars.

Vulnerable Road Users

In the Vulnerable Road Users category, the Mazda6e scored 74%. It offered mostly good or adequate protection for pedestrians, particularly in impact areas such as the bonnet and bumper. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Support systems achieved maximum points when identifying and protecting motorcyclists, a growing area of focus for Euro NCAP assessments.

The Mazda6e also scored well for cyclist protection, thanks to the responsiveness of its AEB system and the inclusion of door-opening warnings across all side doors.

Safety Assist technologies

The Mazda6e’s extensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) contributed to its strong 77% Safety Assist rating. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking system performed effectively in detecting and responding to other vehicles on the road, while the driver-status monitoring system successfully identified signs of driver fatigue or distraction.

The Lane Support system was praised for providing smooth and

consistent steering corrections, helping to prevent unintentional lane departures. Meanwhile, the Speed Assistance system accurately recognised local speed limits and provided clear feedback to the driver.

Driving dynamics and safety philosophy

Mazda emphasises that the Mazda6e’s overall safety performance is reinforced by its low centre of gravity, ideal 47:53 front-to-rear weight distribution, and exceptional driving dynamics. The car’s driverfocused cockpit and advanced human–machine interface (HMI) are designed to enhance driver awareness, ensuring that key information is displayed intuitively without causing distraction.

The Mazda6e reflects Mazda’s broader design philosophy, combining Japanese craftsmanship, human-centred design, and cuttingedge technology to deliver an electric vehicle that is not only refined and comfortable but also inherently safe.

The Mazda6e is set to arrive in the United Kingdom in 2026, representing the next major step in Mazda’s European electrification strategy.

The MG IM5 represents a bold evolution for MG, delivering a combination of performance, technology, and high-spec equipment that challenges established premium electric saloons. While ride quality and driver assistance systems may require further refinement, the car’s value proposition, impressive kit, and electric performance make it a compelling option for buyers seeking a stylish and practical EV with a premium feel. The IM5 signals MG’s ambition to enter the premium electric vehicle market while retaining the affordability and equipment levels that have become its hallmark.

A Milestone in Škoda’s 130-Year Legacy POWER. PRECISION. PEDIGREE.
