DREAM DRIVES BY HONDA

HONDA REVEALS OVER 120 OF THE GREATEST EUROPEAN DRIVING ROADS WITH INTERACTIVE CIVIC TYPE R MAP

As Honda bids farewell to the Civic Type R in Europe after nearly three decades of thrilling performance, the company has unveiled an interactive map celebrating over 120 of the continent’s most exciting driving roads. Spanning 25 countries, the Honda Dream Drives map invites driving enthusiasts to explore epic routes, scenic escapes, and hidden gems across Europe—all tailored to celebrate the joy of driving.

The map is a tribute to the Civic Type R’s performance heritage and was created with input from motoring experts, passionate drivers, and Civic Type R fans. From dramatic coastlines to mountain passes, the map includes everything from iconic drives to roads only locals know best.

Each route is categorized by theme— scenic, coastal, mountainous, or cross-country—and is optimized for mobile use with seamless integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Whether you’re planning a road trip or just dreaming of the open road, the map makes it easy to explore, navigate, and enjoy.

Notable featured routes include:

• Stelvio Pass, Italy – One of Europe’s most iconic drives, with twisting switchbacks and panoramic Alpine views.

• Transfăgărășan Highway, Romania – A favorite among driving purists, offering elevation changes and dramatic mountain landscapes.

• North Coast 500, Scotland –A legendary loop that showcases the rugged beauty of northern Scotland’s coast.

The map also highlights lesser-known roads such as:

• Káli-medence, Hungary – A unique drive through volcanic terrain.

• Pianezze, Italy – A thrilling mountain route known for hosting the Marca Rally. Nik Pearson, General Manager of Corporate Communications at Honda Motor Europe, said:

“This unique collection of roads is the perfect way to sign off the Civic Type R in Europe. As a symbol of performance and handling excellence, the Type R truly shines on roads like these. The map is more than a celebration—it’s a legacy tool for all driving enthusiasts to enjoy, now and in the future.”

Accessible via hondadreamdrives. com, the dedicated microsite allows users to search by country, route type, drive length, or duration. If a specific road is already in mind, users can search directly by name.

Each listing includes practical information such as route highlights, potential hazards, and seasonal closures, with direct navigation links via Google Maps or your device’s default map app.

Highlights from the Map:

• Great St Bernard Pass, Switzerland – Historic alpine crossing with breathtaking highaltitude views.

• German Alpine Road, Germany –Stretching 484 km, this scenic route winds through alpine meadows and rugged peaks.

• Vršič Pass, Slovenia – A stunning road featuring 50 tight hairpin bends and spectacular mountain scenery.

• Col de Turini, France – Famed for its role in the Monte Carlo Rally, this mountain pass is a must-drive for motorsport fans.

• Stelvio Pass, Italy – Turning 200 years old in 2025, it’s one of the most challenging and celebrated roads in Europe.

A Fond Farewell to the Civic Type R

The Type R badge, first introduced with the NSX in 1992, has represented Honda’s most performance-focused models. The Civic Type R made its European debut in 1997 with the Integra, but it was the 2001 EP3 generation that cemented its legacy among enthusiasts.

Over five generations, the Civic Type R raised the bar for hot hatches—selling over 70,000 units across Europe and setting lap records at legendary tracks.

These include Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Estoril, and Magny Cours. The current FL5 generation still holds the lap record for front-wheel drive cars at Germany’s Nürburgring with a blistering time of 7 minutes 44.881 seconds.

As the Civic Type R’s European chapter closes, Honda Dream Drives offers a lasting celebration of what made it so special: the thrill of the open road and the joy of driving. Read more...

PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE DRIVING

Mazda Highlighted Heritage Fleet at Royal Tunbridge Wells Festival of Motoring

It is a little-known fact that the Kent town of Royal Tunbridge Wells hosted the first motor show in Great Britain. Back in 1895, the Royal Tunbridge Wells Horseless Carriage Exhibition attracted huge crowds, and this important motoring milestone was celebrated over the weekend of Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August.

More than 20 carefully curated classic cars were displayed along the tree-lined Georgian walkways of The Pantiles, in the heart of the picturesque town.

The unique motoring festival featured an eclectic display of vehicles, exhibited by local worldrenowned specialists, restorers, and racing teams. The event celebrated both the local area and 130 years of motoring history.

Mazda’s historical connection to Tunbridge Wells stems from the fact that, prior to the founding of Mazda UK in 2001, the brand’s official importer operated out of the town from the early 1970s through to the end of the 1990s. Even today, Mazda UK’s heritage fleet is stored and maintained in Tunbridge Wells, underlining the brand’s lasting ties to the area. Earlier this year, local dealer Hendy Group opened a new Mazda dealership at the Kingstanding Business Park, marking the latest chapter in Mazda’s retail presence in the town.

Thanks to this strong local connection, Mazda UK showcased its iconic 1969 Mazda Cosmo across the weekend as part of the festival. The event, presented in association with Octane Magazine, provided a fitting platform to celebrate Mazda’s legacy alongside other standout vehicles from British and global motoring history.

Spotlight on the All-New Mazda CX-5

In addition to its heritage display, Mazda also offered visitors a glimpse into the future by previewing the allnew Mazda CX-5. First introduced in 2012 as the debut model for Mazda’s “KODO – Soul of Motion” design philosophy and breakthrough SKYACTIV Technology, the CX-5 grew to become Mazda’s global best-seller, with over 4.5 million units sold in more than 100 countries.

At the festival, Mazda showcased the evolution of this popular SUV, now entering its third generation. Developed with the concept of “New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort,” the new CX-5 continues to embody the brand’s signature JinbaIttai driving experience—where car and driver feel as one—while offering enhanced comfort, quietness, and practicality for everyday use.

With a refined interior, improved ride comfort, and updated HumanMachine Interface (HMI) technology, the new CX-5 aimed to impress not only with its sporty design and performance but also its functionality for modern lifestyles. Features such as expanded app connectivity and enhanced driver-assistance systems showcased Mazda’s ongoing commitment to safety, innovation, and driving enjoyment.

Set to arrive in European showrooms at the end of 2025, the new Mazda CX-5 generated strong interest from attendees, offering a striking contrast to the historic vehicles on display and highlighting the brand’s continued focus on blending performance, design, and comfort.

Another WIN for ARIYA

The all-electric Nissan ARIYA has once again proven its versatility and performance credentials by winning a major category at the 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards.

Nissan ARIYA strikes gold again at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards.

The all-electric Nissan ARIYA has once again proven its versatility and performance credentials by winning a major category at the 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards.

The award went to the 87kWh Evolve e-4ORCE variant of the ARIYA, which triumphed in the highly competitive 1500kg–1600kg caravan towing category—one of the most significant segments in the annual awards.

This marks the second major towcar award in three years for the ARIYA.

The sleek, all-electric coupé crossover was previously named ‘Electric Towcar of the Year’ in the 2024 awards, marking its first success in a towing competition.

Judges Praise ARIYA’s Capability

Announcing this year’s winners, the Caravan and Motorhome Club praised the ARIYA’s balanced performance, stability, and all-round usability.

“A previous award winner, the Nissan ARIYA has struck gold once again!” said the Club’s official statement.

“Its high stability levels placed it above the pack, with judges loving how it kept its caravan in check at both high speeds and during a variety of lower speed manoeuvres. High marks were also given for the smooth power delivery from the twin electric motors, along with sharp steering, a supple ride, and a practical, quality interior.”

Nick Lomas, Director General of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, commented on the changing landscape of the towing world:

“The pace of technological advancement in motoring has been remarkable, and the strong presence of electric vehicles such as the Nissan ARIYA in this year’s competition highlights just how far the industry has come.

We warmly congratulate all the deserving winners of the 2026 Awards. Our expert judging panel delivered thorough, unbiased evaluations to support anyone looking to purchase a towcar, whether new or pre-owned, with trusted, professional insight.”

A Milestone Year for ARIYA

The latest accolade rounds off a strong summer for the Nissan ARIYA, which continues to gain recognition both for its innovative engineering and increased affordability.

Just last month, it was confirmed that most ARIYA models now qualify for the UK Government’s new £1,500 Electric Vehicle Grant, significantly lowering purchase prices and making monthly finance repayments more accessible.

Fiona Mackay, Nissan GB Marketing Director, celebrated the positive momentum:

“We’re proud and delighted that the Nissan ARIYA has been making headlines for all the right reasons in recent weeks.

Securing eligibility for the Government’s £1,500 Electric Vehicle Grant makes ARIYA more accessible than ever. It delivers greater value

without compromising on the innovation, design, and performance our customers expect. This reflects our commitment to removing barriers to EV ownership and empowering more drivers to make the switch to zeroemission driving.

In addition, we couldn’t be more thrilled that the car has triumphed once again at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards. Nissan’s future is electric, and recognising the role electric vehicles play in all forms of motoring is vitally important.”

Innovation Meets Everyday Practicality

Since its debut in 2022, the Nissan ARIYA has been at the forefront of Nissan’s electric vehicle strategy. Built on the brand’s advanced EV platform and equipped with e-4ORCE allwheel drive technology, the ARIYA blends sporty driving dynamics with the practicality and reliability expected by caravan and motorhome owners.

Its success in towing tests also helps challenge common misconceptions about electric vehicles being unsuitable for heavier-duty tasks like caravan towing. As EV infrastructure improves and more incentives become available, models like the ARIYA are making a compelling case for electric power in all areas of driving life.

With a growing list of accolades, enhanced government incentives, and continued positive reception from both media and customers, the Nissan ARIYA is positioned as a standout option for those seeking an electric SUV that delivers on both innovation and utility.

Electric Vans, Real Change

OVER THREE-QUARTERS OF VAN DRIVERS EXPERIENCE NEGATIVE BEHAVIOUR FROM OTHER MOTORISTS

A striking 78% of van drivers have experienced negative behaviour from other road users simply because they drive a van, according to new research commissioned by PEUGEOT.

The poll, conducted among 1,000 drivers who use a van for work, uncovered a worrying trend of road abuse. More than half (53%) reported being cut up on the road, while 51% have been verbally sworn at, and 41% experienced tailgating. Alarmingly, one in four van drivers (26%) revealed they have even been threatened with physical violence.

The majority of van drivers (79%) believe these hostile reactions stem from the way other motorists perceive them. Over 70% feel misunderstood by the general public—a sentiment that rises to 78% among electric van drivers.

Challenging Negative Stereotypes

Common stereotypes associated with van drivers include aggressive behaviour (46%), poor driving (43%), and driving dirty or untidy vehicles (35%). However, these negative perceptions are contradicted by van drivers themselves. Two-thirds (67%) say they actively try to be mindful of other road users, and more than half

(53%) believe they are more skilled than many other motorists, citing the unique challenges of driving a van compared to a car.

These negative experiences clearly impact driving behaviour. A large majority (71%) say they feel the need to defend themselves or prove their driving competence while on the road. Additionally, 61% admit to feeling pressure to drive more carefully or vigilantly because of how they think they are perceived, and half of all van drivers have adjusted their route, parking, or driving style to avoid conflict with others.

Even when not driving, van drivers feel judged. Nearly 80% say they are frequently criticised for taking up space while parking in cities, highlighting how misconceptions extend beyond the road itself.

Positive Shift for Electric Van Drivers

In contrast, electric van drivers report more positive perceptions—56% feel they are viewed favourably when charging in public spaces. Furthermore, 64% of electric van drivers believe they are perceived more positively by other road users since switching from petrol or diesel vans.

PEUGEOT is a leader in the electric van market, offering three fully electric models: the E-PARTNER, E-EXPERT, and E-BOXER. These models are part of the widest electric commercial vehicle range among mainstream European brands. All qualify for the government’s Plug-in Van Grant, which offers up to £5,000 off and has recently been extended until 2027. PEUGEOT also supports business customers with 0% APR on Conditional Sale for all electric vans, easing the transition to cleaner vehicles.

Pride and Professionalism in Van Ownership

PEUGEOT’s research found that van drivers take significant pride in maintaining their vehicles. A remarkable 96% agree that keeping

their van clean and well-maintained is important, and 86% say turning up to work in a dirty van would damage their professional reputation.

Cleaning habits vary, but many are meticulous: 32% clean their van weekly, 27% every few days, and 14% daily. Electric van drivers are particularly fastidious, with 26% cleaning their vehicle daily and 42% doing so every few days.

Regular maintenance is also common. Over a quarter (28%) check their van weekly for issues like tyre condition, oil levels, and brakes, while 19% carry out checks every few days, and another 19% do so daily. Over the course of a year, van drivers spend an average of £1,389 maintaining their vehicles.

To help reduce maintenance costs, PEUGEOT offers a four-year service plan for commercial customers priced at just £199 for electric vans or £299 for diesel models.

Safety and Reputation Drive Care

Safety is the primary motivation for van drivers to look after their vehicles, with 70% citing it as their main reason. However, personal pride and maintaining a good professional image also play a significant role, with 57% identifying these factors as key motivators.

PEUGEOT’s Electric Van Line-Up

PEUGEOT’s all-electric van range offers a practical blend of efficiency, performance, and versatility to suit various business needs:

• The E-PARTNER is the UK’s best selling compact electric van in 2024. Manufactured at Ellesmere Port, it offers a range of up to 213 miles (WLTP).

• The mid-sized E-EXPERT delivers a 219-mile range (WLTP), with up to 6.6m³ of load space and a payload capacity of 1,220kg.

• The largest model, the E-BOXER, provides up to 263 miles of range (WLTP) and supports rapid charging from 0 to 80% in just 55 minutes.

In summary, while van drivers frequently face negative perceptions and behaviour from other road users, PEUGEOT’s research shows that many are conscientious, skilled, and take pride in their vehicles. The rise of electric vans is also shifting public attitudes positively, making it a promising time for cleaner, smarter commercial transport.

SKODA POWERS AHEAD

Škoda Expands Electric Line-Up: Epiq Urban SUV Set for 2026 Launch as Elroq Takes Top Honours

Škoda is continuing its electric mobility momentum with two headline-grabbing developments: the unveiling of the upcoming Epiq, a compact allelectric SUV set for launch in 2026, and the Elroq being named Medium SUV of the Year at the prestigious Business Car Awards 2025.

Together, the two models showcase Škoda’s commitment to delivering practical, efficient, and well-priced electric vehicles for both private buyers and fleet operators.

Škoda Epiq: Affordable Electric Urban SUV Coming in 2026

The Škoda Epiq is the brand’s next step into the affordable EV segment, designed to bring electric mobility to a wider audience. Scheduled to go on sale in 2026, the Epiq is expected to be priced at under £25,000, placing it squarely in competition with urban EV rivals like the Fiat Panda and Renault 4.

Built on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.2 and Cupra Raval, the Epiq will measure 4.1 metres in length but promises a surprisingly roomy cabin with 475 litres of luggage space – impressive for its class.

Škoda has confirmed that the Epiq will offer a driving range of up to 264 miles, likely using battery options of 38kWh and 56kWh, shared with its Volkswagen Group counterparts.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, highlighted the Epiq’s value proposition:

“The coming Škoda Epiq will package a lot of car for an attractive price and a big interior with a compact size. Our customers want choices, which is why we are expanding our growing e-mobility portfolio into this popular segment. The Epiq will shine because of its modern design, everyday range and user-friendly technologies – all of it affordable.”

The Epiq marks Škoda’s ongoing effort to democratise electric vehicles, combining smart packaging with user-centric design at an accessible price point.

Elroq Named Medium SUV of the Year at Business Car Awards 2025

While the Epiq looks ahead to Škoda’s electric future, the Elroq is already making waves in the present. Launched earlier this year, the allelectric Elroq has been crowned Medium SUV of the Year at the 2025 Business Car Awards, a major event recognising excellence in the fleet and business car sector.

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s advanced MEB platform, the Elroq is Škoda’s second electric SUV, following in the footsteps of the award-winning Enyaq. The Elroq beat four rivals to secure the top spot, impressing the judging panel with its blend of practicality, efficiency, and modern design.

Martyn Collins, Editor of Business Car, said:

“The Elroq follows on from the excellent Enyaq EV, a previous multiaward winner at the Business Car Awards. The Elroq’s exterior design is an attractive mixture of current family styling cues together with Škoda’s

new face. This Škoda’s interior is spacious, the range and charging are competitive, and the pricing attractive.”

The Elroq range includes three battery options—55 kWh, 63 kWh, and 82 kWh—with the flagship Elroq Edition 85 offering a range of up to 356 miles (WLTP). For those seeking more performance, a new vRS model joins the line-up, featuring 340 PS and all-wheel drive, making it the most powerful variant to date.

Škoda has long been a favourite among business car buyers and fleet operators, thanks to its combination of practicality, reliability, and strong value. The Elroq’s win adds to Škoda’s impressive record at the Business Car Awards, with previous titles for the Enyaq, Superb, and Octavia.

A Growing Electric Portfolio

With the award-winning Elroq leading the charge in the medium SUV space and the upcoming Epiq set to redefine the compact EV market, Škoda is rapidly building one of the most comprehensive electric vehicle portfolios in Europe.

From affordable urban EVs to high-performance family SUVs, Škoda’s electric strategy reflects its core values—value, practicality, and innovation now brought into the era of sustainable mobility.

As customer expectations evolve and demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, Škoda is positioning itself to meet the moment—whether it’s with an affordable city runabout or a fleet-ready electric SUV.

KIA EVs TAKE THE HONOURS

KIA DOMINATES BUSINESS CAR AWARDS 2025 AS EV3 AND EV9 TAKE

TOP HONOURS - EV4 JOINS THE LINE-UP WITH EUROPEAN FOCUS

Kia has once again proven its strength in the electric vehicle sector, taking home two major trophies at the Business Car Awards 2025. The brand’s smallest and largest electric SUVs — the EV3 and EV9 — were crowned winners in their respective categories, underlining Kia’s growing reputation for innovation, efficiency, and practicality across its electric range.

Meanwhile, the brand is preparing to expand its offering even further with the upcoming launch of the Kia EV4, a European-tuned electric hatchback designed to meet the demands of modern mobility.

EV3 and EV9 Take the Spotlight

The Kia EV3, Kia’s all-new compact electric SUV, was named Best Compact SUV at the 2025 Business Car Awards. Judges praised the EV3’s class-leading range of up to 375 miles (WLTP), its ride comfort, distinctive styling, and high levels of standard equipment.

Martyn Collins, Editor of Business Car, said:

“Kia’s first dedicated compact EV is, in our opinion, the definitive fleet choice in this segment. It’s efficient, has standout looks, a refined ride, and a spacious, high-quality interior.”

The EV3 is already turning heads globally, having won both the UK Car of the Year 2025 and World Car of the Year 2025 — matching a rare achievement previously earned by the Kia EV9 in 2024.

The Kia EV9 retained its crown as Best Premium Large SUV for the second year in a row. Judges praised its practicality, seven-seat layout, distinctive design, and impressive value — especially considering its starting price of just over £65,000.

“Despite new entries in the segment, the EV9 remains unmatched,” said Collins. “It’s still a head-turner, drives well, and delivers real-world efficiency and usability.”

EV4: Kia’s Next Electric Contender for Europe

Adding to Kia’s growing electric success story is the forthcoming Kia EV4, the brand’s first all-electric C-segment hatchback, engineered specifically for European roads. Built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4 offers a bold design, cutting-edge tech, and impressive efficiency.

The EV4 will be available in two variants: a hatchback produced in Žilina, Slovakia, and a sleek fastback built in Korea. Both models offer a choice of 58.3kWh or 81.4kWh batteries, powering a 150kW frontmounted motor. The long-range version delivers up to 391 miles (WLTP), while the fastback provides up to 380 miles.

The EV4 also features ultra-fast charging — 10% to 80% in just over 30 minutes — and advanced tech such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicleto-Grid (V2G) capability. With boot capacities of 435 litres (hatchback) and 490 litres (fastback), both models are well suited for families and professionals alike.

Inside, the EV4 combines premium materials with tech-savvy design: an intuitive mix of touchscreen and physical controls, ambient lighting, and a minimalist yet comfortable layout. European-tuned suspension and handling ensure confident cornering and smooth high-speed driving, thanks to extensive testing by engineers at Kia’s R&D centre in Germany.

Kia’s fourth-generation battery technology ensures long-term durability and thermal efficiency, with

rigorous endurance testing confirming minimal battery degradation after thousands of miles under extreme conditions.

Safety remains central to the EV4’s design, with a full suite of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) including Forward Collision Avoidance, Blind-Spot Assist, Smart Cruise Control, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. Structural reinforcements protect both passengers and the battery in the event of a collision.

End-to-End Support for Fleet and Retail Customers

Commenting on the brand’s recent accolades, Dave Williams, Head of Fleet at Kia UK, said:

“We’re thrilled to receive these awards for both the EV3 and EV9. They highlight not just the quality of our products, but also the strong support we provide through our 190-strong dealer network, our Kia Business Service Promise, and our industry-leading sevenyear/100,000-mile warranty.”

With the EV3 delivering cutting-edge technology in a compact package, the EV9 setting the standard for premium electric SUVs, and the upcoming EV4 offering European-tailored performance and long-range capability, Kia continues to shape the future of electric mobility — with something for every kind of driver.

A New Electric Era

Performance and Range

The IM6 is available in two main variants. The Performance model packs over 750 horsepower, delivering acceleration on par with some supercars. While exhilarating, this level of power is more for show and fun than practical everyday use. The Long Range variant, with 407 horsepower, offers a more balanced driving experience and a longer range of around 388 miles per charge, compared to 313 miles for the Performance model. Both versions support rapid charging, making longer trips more manageable.

Space and Comfort

Built as a dedicated electric vehicle, the IM6 benefits from a longer wheelbase that translates into generous interior space. Rear passengers enjoy ample legroom and a flat floor for extra comfort. The boot is also significantly larger than that of the IM5 saloon, adding to the IM6’s practicality as a family SUV.

Comfort is a highlight, especially in models with optional air suspension.

This feature allows drivers to adjust ride height and softness, smoothing out road imperfections and managing the strong acceleration of the Performance variant. Double-glazed windows help reduce noise, creating a quiet cabin experience, even at highway speeds.

Technology and Features

MG has equipped the IM6 generously, with all trims featuring a comprehensive suite of driver aids and comfort tech. Notable highlights include four-wheel steering with a clever ‘Crab Mode’ for easier parking and maneuvering, a heat pump for efficient climate control, and a 20-speaker noise-cancelling audio system. Heated seats for front and rear passengers add extra comfort.

The user interface centers on a digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen. While the menu system is generally user-friendly, some basic functions, like adjusting door mirrors, require navigating through menus rather than using dedicated controls. Apple CarPlay integration is supported, enabling easy access

to favorite apps and navigation. The native infotainment system is expected to improve from the preproduction versions tested.

Cost of Ownership and Warranty

Priced from just under £48,000, the IM6 falls above the £40,000 threshold, incurring an annual Vehicle Excise Duty charge of £421 for the first five years. This extra cost might be a consideration, especially when competitors like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 offer variants that avoid this higher tax bracket. However, MG compensates with a strong feature set and impressive performance.

Running costs remain competitive for electric vehicles, particularly for fleet buyers who benefit from tax incentives and can charge at home. The seven-year warranty also provides peace of mind, reflecting MG’s confidence in the vehicle’s reliability.

Safety and Reliability

While the IM6 includes many driver assistance features, some systems require refinement. Initial testing revealed that the driver attention alerts and lane-keeping assists can be intrusive, though MG is working to fine-tune these before customer deliveries.

Reliability remains to be fully confirmed, as the vehicles tested were pre-production models. The ability to update the software over the air reduces the need for dealership visits, which is a modern advantage.

Summary

in the premium electric SUV market. It offers a spacious and comfortable cabin, a broad array of technology, and performance options to suit both thrill-seekers and everyday drivers. For those considering an alternative to the Tesla Model Y, the IM6 presents a strong case with its combination of features, range, and competitive pricing.

Its Long Range variant, in particular, strikes the right balance between power, practicality, and efficiency, making it the recommended choice for most buyers.
