Peugeot: A history of Motorsport Peugeot’s has a fantastic history of success in Motorsport that goes back to the start of PEUGEOT SPORT in 1981. With its history covering over a 30 year period it has had a large amount of success that its rivals struggle to match.

Only cars wearing the PEUGEOT SPORT badge leave the main production line to be transported to PEUGEOT SPORT’s facility in Velizy, Paris for final chassis tweaks carried out by individual engineers. The tweaks include axle geometries, dampers, springs and suspension bushes, all of which are vital in how a driver feels at the wheel.

PEUGEOT SPORT uses the same engineers that lead them to the 2009 LE Mans 24 Hours triumph to design engine upgrades for the RCZ R and 208 GTi. Peugeot Sport’s Pierre Buddar explains: “People working on PEUGEOT SPORT production cars communicate all the time with those working on our racing projects. We benefit from their experience of racing car tests; they get our findings from testing models such as the 208 GTi 30th.”

The 2008 DKR16 has got bigger and better in a quest for Dakar success. The new model is long, wider, lower and more powerful than its predecessor. Other improvements include aerodynamics, carbon skin and suspension upgrades.

and wind direction, the GTi just kept accelerating, even on uneven surfaces, demonstrating the high levels of grip enhanced by its TORSEN differential.

Both are agile and responsive, the Powerboat able to turn within a few lengths, the Peugeot able to change directions on demand too, albeit driving around the perimeter of the main lake at the National Water Sports Centre (in Nottingham) had the longer route to overcome.

Joining Peugeot at the 2000m lake was PowerboatGP - an organisation that stages a number of competition events and the annual F2 Nottingham Grand Prix championship at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham - who provided an F2 Powerboat. The two high performance machines were pitched against one another on two completely different surfaces.

Both have been developed to perform with great efficiency and with each having advantages for different elements of the challenge, the event revealed how closely matched the two machines were - the Powerboat, while quick off the start, was very closely matched by the highly-tractable 308 GTi car. While the Powerboat soon reached its terminal velocity, limited by surface conditions 4

its speed should the need arise. On the day, the 308 GTi was driven by Bradley Philpot, a Peugeot UK Brand Ambassador with its track cars and the F2 Powerboat piloted by Colin Jelf, an F2 champion. Bradley also has powerboat links – his grandfather, Robbie Hood, was a British openwater powerboat champion too.

On November the 11th Norton Way Peugeot visited Stevenage FC to carry out a test drive event. Customers got the opportunity to drive one of our fantastic Peugeot cars with our expert sales team, starting in the famous Lamex Stadium, the home of Stevenage FC. Norton Way Peugeot was part of a nationwide campaign to help Peugeot UK raise money, they have been in partnership with Children in Need for the last three years, raising over £1 million for the charity to date.

Neil Moscrop, Peugeot UK brand director, said: “Our BBC Children in Need car washes have always been received so well on a local level in recent years and we’re urging as many people as possible to get down to Norton Way to ‘Get Sudsey with Pudsey’.

“After breaking through the £1 million barrier last year, the team is even more motivated to keep pushing for donations and encouraging as many people as possible to support such a worthy cause.”

Norton Peugeot and the rest of the group raised a fantastic total of £544!

Members of the public were invited down to our Works Road Dealership, between 10am and 3pm, to have their dirty cars cleaned by an army of sponge wielding Dealership team members for just £5, all of which will be donated to Children in Need.

The fun didn’t stop there, on the Friday we had a wide variety of activities to entertain people of all ages. These included all of our staff dressing up or dress down, many of which decided to go for the onesie option. The Pudsey fashion police were also on hand implementing a penalty charge for anyone that getting involved, of course all of the penalties went to the great cause.

All of the Norton Way Bakers stepped forward to help as well to help produce some fantastic cakes, cookies, muffins and pops. These were all 12
