Dear Parents and Carers,
The highlight this week was our Mini Olympics Day which was held on Tuesday. I must commend our students for the way they interacted with one another We had students working together in multi-age groups and it was a pleasure watching them support and encourage one another. Our Year 10 students assisted us on the day by running each of the events and they did an incredible job. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to them, also our PE team and to all of the parents who volunteered their time Our Primary Teaching staff worked hard to make the event a memorable day and there were many people who contributed to making the day a success.
Tickets are still available for our upcoming School Musical, Shrek Jr the Musical. We have lifted the ticket limit now that families have had an opportunity to purchase tickets. Feel free to share details of the School Musical more widely with family and friends, as we do have a number of seats remaining Tickets can be booked through the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre Website.
Prayer is powerful In Philippians 4:6-7 it says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
We have many opportunities for prayer across the College, including Vision Prayer, where our students can choose to attend and pray for our school and community. On Friday morning we have our parent prayer group that comes together to pray I encourage you to pray regularly and bring all of your requests to God, who hears and answers prayer.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TERM 3 IN THE LIBRARY
This year the theme for Book Week is “Reading is Magic”.
Our dress-up day will be in Week 6 on Friday 23rd August which is when everyone has the chance to dress up as their favourite book character. Another way we always celebrate Book Week is the running of our yearly Book Fair. The Fair will be held during Week 8 and is brought to us by Lamont Books.

Term 3 also marks the conclusion of the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge, so if your child is taking part, please make sure you have all books logged by Sunday 1st September so that our Library staff can verify all books before the site closes.

“Bowerbird Blues”, is about a bird who keeps trying to find the right thing In doing so he collects a lot of blue items, before finally finding the right thing Miss Skerry has a jar full of blue things she has collected. Take a guess at how many items, you think are in the Jar Closets guess will win a prize

Colouring Competition
“Grace and Mr Milligan” is up for the new Illustrator and Picture Book of the year awards, so to celebrate this, we have chosen an image from this story as our colouring competition The story is about a girl remembering how happy her neighbour and her used to be, and her attempts at trying to cheer him up again There are 8 prizes to be won, 4 for best colouring, and 4 random draw winners. All entries must have a name and class, Submissions: To the Library by 1pm Friday 23rd August.
Little Treasures Photo Challenge
“Little Treasures” is a nominated short-listed book about a young girl’s trip to the beach. She finds lots of seaweed and shells, but to her eyes they are little treasures She imagines them to be something small like a mermaid’s necklace or a big merchant ship sailed by penguins Our challenge for those who choose to accept, is to create something out of things you might find outside This might be a boat made of sticks and grass, or it might be your own shell necklace. Take a photo of your creation and send it in to Miss Skerry Either via email or bring in a printed photo.

Hope is the Thing
“Hope is the Thing”, is a sweet book about how birds bring hope to a girl. To help us remember this book and celebrate Book Week we are going to decorate the Library, with our own birds of Hope Using Scrap paper, make a bird and write something you are hopeful for on the back. Bring it to the library and we will add it, to our display of Hope

Concrete Garden
In the book “Concrete Garden”, a little girl who lives in an apartment building, goes outside with a box of chalk She uses the chalk to decorate her street, and as she does, she invites all the other kids to join her Soon all the kids have drawn a great big garden on the street. When the adults look out of the windows of their apartments they can see the amazing drawings, that have lit up their grey street. So why not be like the kids from this story, and brighten up our school yard together with chalk.
Dance Party
In the book “Bear & Duck are friends”, Duck keeps inviting Bear to try new things, unfortunately they don’t always turn out good. This leads Bear to being scared and anxious to try new things
One day Duck invites Bear to his Dance class Bear tries to give it a go, and after failing, Duck tells him he is “thinking too hard,” and suggests that Bear closes his eyes and feel the music Bear does just that, and discovers that he can dance, & that trying new things doesn’t have to be scary So why not be like Duck, and invite a friend to our very own Dance Party.
