

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am grateful to God for all that He has done throughout Term 3 and the way He has protected and guided our College community. As we wrap up another busy and engaging term, I wanted to take a moment to share some recent highlights with you.
This week, representatives from Years 5 and 6 participated in the Hoop Time Basketball Event. It was inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The event was a wonderful display of teamwork and skill, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.
We hosted a Debating Association of Victoria (DAV) Primary Debating Day this week, where our Year 6 students participated as either an audience member or a debater along with students from other schools. Debating has many benefits including the opportunity to practise speaking confidently and clearly, which boosts public speaking skills. It also teaches students to consider different viewpoints and respond quickly to questions. Overall, debating improves thinking and communication skills, which can be useful in school and beyond.
Our Year 1 students had a memorable excursion to the Essendon Traffic School, where they learned important road safety lessons in an interactive and enjoyable setting. Students were given the opportunity to apply what they had learnt about road signs, road rules and safety messages during their visit while riding bikes on the mini-road set up.
Unfortunately, due to the likelihood of inclement weather, we had to postpone the Prep – Year 2 Athletics Carnival. We know how eagerly the students were anticipating this event and appreciate your understanding. We will notify you of the rescheduled date as soon as possible.
As we enter the school holiday period, I encourage you to take time to rest and enjoy precious moments with your family. Remember, through all the ups and downs, God’s faithfulness remains constant.
As it says in Lamentations 3:22-23, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." May you find peace and joy, knowing that God’s love and faithfulness are with you always.
I pray you and your family have a safe, restful, and enjoyable school holiday. May your children have a wonderful break and return refreshed for Term 4.

Students are to wear their full Summer uniform in Term 4. There will be a 2-week changeover period when Winter or Summer uniform can be worn (but not interchangeably). Please consider the weather when deciding on the most suitable uniform for your child to wear in the first two weeks of Term 4.
As of Monday 21st October, all students are required to wear their full Summer uniform. Hats MUST be worn when playing outside or participating in outdoor activities for ALL of Term 4, even if your child is wearing their Winter uniform in Weeks 1 and 2.

Application Timeline:
Term 4 Week 1
Applications due by 4:00pm on Friday 11th October 2024. Paper applications may be submitted in hard copy to Ms Vaughn.
4 Week 2
All applicants will present a well-prepared speech to their Year level who will then elect candidates to move forward to the panel interview.
Term 4 Weeks 3 - 5
Students will be shortlisted and the process of interview will begin. Students will be contacted with an interview date and time.
SRC Leaders for 2025 will be announced at the 2025 Dedication Service.
Many uniform and lunch packaging items have been found in the Lost Property boxes and are on display in the Reception foyer until Wednesday 25th September.
Parents are welcome to come and find items that you may have lost throughout the term. Any unclaimed items may be disposed of after this date.

Swimming lessons for the Prep – Year 2 students will take place at Splash’s Plenty Valley for the first six Thursdays of Term 4.
First session: Thursday 10th October Last session: Thursday 14th November
What to wear:
Full Sports Uniform with house coloured t-shirt and their bathers underneath.
Girls: One-piece bathers with the straps left down throughout the day so that they can go to the toilet easily, or a rashie over a two-piece set
Boys: Board shorts with a rashie
What to bring:
In a separate small bag (not their school bag):
Clean underwear
Towel
Plastic bag for wet items
Hair brush/comb
Goggles (optional)
Crocs or thongs (optional) *Students must wear running shoes to school. Students can change into crocs or thongs to go to their swimming lesson
*Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled.
Parent Participation Required
We are asking all parents who have completed the LinkSafe* induction to consider meeting us at the pool to assist with safety around the pool and changing *This is different to the Volunteers’ Induction carried out at the beginning of the year. A valid Working with Children Check is required.
How to help:
Parent helpers are asked to meet us at the pool 5 minutes before the lesson is due to start We would love it if you could help students: Walk safely from the bus to the complex.
Ensure students are not walking too close to the water’s edge as they move around the complex
Assist with changing (as instructed by the teacher) This may just be verbal prompting to assist students to change quickly and to not lose any items, or helping younger students put on their shoes and socks.

About the program
Triple P - Fearless is a 6 week workshop that aims to support parents of young people aged 6 - 14 years. It is designed to provide information about anxiety and provide positive parenting strategies that support the development and behaviour of young people with anxiety. This workshop will provide:
An understanding of how anxiety develops in young people
How to support your child to express and manage upsetting emotions more effectively
How to help your child develop coping skills and face feared situations
How to manage children’s anxiety behaviour effectively
This is a FREE program run by The Hub 3757 by Kids First Australia and FamilyCare for parents who are residents in the City of Whittlesea

Dear Parents and Carers
Re: $400 School Saving Bonus
Families want the absolute best for their kids. But with the current cost of living – uniforms, camps, sports and more – it all adds up.
That’s why the Allan Labor Government is making life that little bit easier for families, by providing a one-off $400 School Saving Bonus.
Non-government school students who will be in Prep through to Year 12 in 2025, and who are receiving the means-tested Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF), are eligible for the School Saving Bonus.
Parents and carers do not need to apply, with the School Saving Bonus being paid to nongovernment schools for eligible students from late November 2024
The $400 School Saving Bonus is available for each child. That means an eligible family with three school-aged children will receive a total of $1,200.
Importantly, the School Saving Bonus is available in addition to the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.
