ORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE WEEKLY PRIMARY NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Carers,
We enjoyed a short week following our midterm break We had some warmer weather this week, and at this time of year we will likely see more warmer days. It is important for students to stay well hydrated and to be wearing hats when outside.
This week, our Year 6 students took part in "The Intersection," a homelessness perspectivetaking excursion They learnt more about the margins of our city and explored the impacts of stereotypes, hierarchy, homelessness and power. The students explored how they can practically show the love of God and be Christ's ambassadors in these spaces by participating in a walking tour of Melbourne’s CBD Through interactive storytelling, students developed empathy and realised the strength of diversity in building a healthy society.
Students in Prep - Year 2 participated in our annual swimming carnival at Splash in Craigieburn The swimming carnival was an exciting and energetic day, filled with both friendly competition and team spirit It was inspiring to see students pushing their limits, cheering each other on, and celebrating everyone's achievements, regardless of the outcome Overall, the event fostered a sense of community and fun Thank you to our PE staff who coordinated the arrangements for the day, as well as our teachers and parent helpers who contributed to making the day a success
This week I was reflecting on the privilege of being a Christian and having the freedom to express our faith It is a blessing to be part of a Christian school community here at Northside Christian College. I was reminded of the following Bible verse found in 1 Peter 2:9. It says:
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
Here, believers are described as having the privilege of being chosen by God for a special purpose to declare His praises and live as His holy people in the light. May God continue to help us to follow His leading in every area of our lives
I pray you have a wonderful weekend with your family
