ORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE WEEKLY PRIMARY NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week, our students have worked hard, and our teachers are reflecting on each student's progress as our teaching staff begins to prepare reports for the end of the semester. It is encouraging to see how much our students have progressed in their learning throughout the year
Our home reading program will cease on 15th November when we ask for all books to be returned This will allow us to take stock and replenish or repair items in preparation for next year. This, however, does not mean your child should stop reading. I encourage you to ensure your child has access to books at home, especially considering the longer school holiday break in December and January Local libraries are wonderful resources in the community that can be accessed by families for borrowing books. Continuing daily reading habits will assist your child to continue developing their reading skills and to foster a love of reading.
I spoke to several students this week about the importance of taking responsibility for their actions. Often we find ways to blame others for what we do or to justify inappropriate actions. However, it is important for our students to understand the part they play in conflict and to take ownership of their part I encourage you to remind your children of this when they have had a conflict. The idea of owning our part features heavily in our PeaceWise curriculum, which offers a Biblical framework for conflict resolution Our students understand while they may not be able to control the actions of others, they certainly can control their own. My prayer for all our students is that they continue to develop self-control, one of the Fruit of the Spirit We want to see our students interacting with others in a safe, healthy, positive and respectful manner.
Please remember we have our upcoming midterm break this weekend, and school will resume next Wednesday 6th November. I pray it is a restful and peaceful long weekend for you and your family

SCHEDULING MEETINGS WITH STAFF - SEQTA
Monday 4th November - Tuesday 5th November
The College greatly values the opportunity to work in close partnership with families to support the learning and wellbeing of our students.
THE PARENTS AND FRIENDS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
If you would like to discuss a student matter with a staff member, please use SEQTA to message the staff member and request an appointment. This allows our staff to set aside dedicated time for a meaningful conversation with you Before and after school, staff are often on duty supervising students, making it difficult for them to engage in discussions with parents during these times. By scheduling a meeting, we can ensure your concerns are given the attention they deserve.
Thursdays
Please also note that while staff are happy to respond to messages via SEQTA, replies may not always be immediate, particularly outside of school hours
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

LIBRARY BORROWING ENDING

Please note that today was the last day to borrow books from the library. We kindly ask that all borrowed books be returned by Monday 11th November to facilitate our upcoming stocktake. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
For any enquiries or concerns regarding library materials, please remember that you can easily contact us through SEQTA. Instead of replying to overdue text messages, simply type "Library" in the SEQTA messaging platform and send your message, and we will do our best to respond as promptly as possible.
