PRIMARY NEWS

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to all our students and families as we embark on Term 4. It was heart-warming to hear about the holiday experiences from many students. I certainly enjoyed a refreshing break, as did our dedicated teachers and staff. It’s great to return revitalised and ready for a new term of shared learning.
I would like to remind you also that hats are required to be worn outside during Term 4. Please ensure your child has a College hat with their name clearly marked. Students without hats will need to play in shaded areas. Thank you for your support with this policy.
This week, our Prep – Year 2 students began their Swimming Intensive Program at Splash's Swim School in South Morang. A big thank you to the staff who supported our students during these visits, and to the parents who lent a hand. We truly appreciate your time and involvement.
If you are interested in becoming a parent helper, there are numerous opportunities to get involved here at Northside Christian College. Please feel free to talk with your child's classroom teacher or our Reception staff for more information on how you can assist as a parent volunteer.
This week we also celebrated our Art Show. I commend our students and the broader community for their contributions to this years Art Show. The quality of the artwork and creativity was truly inspiring. The vibrant array of artwork, from stunning paintings to intricate sculptures, reflected the unique perspectives and hard work of our young artists. It was a joy to see families and friends come together to support and appreciate the artistic achievements of our students, making the Art Show a memorable experience for all involved. I would like to extend my gratitude to our Art Team for their efforts in making this week such a success.
The Prep – Year 2 Athletics Day was a fantastic celebration of energy and teamwork, as our young students participated in a variety of events organised within their house groups. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm on their faces as they cheered each other on, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition. Thank you to all of the staff involved and especially to our PE Department who made this event a great success.
In the coming weeks, we will begin our preparations for 2025, including planning student placements for next year in anticipation of our Whole School Orientation Day on the 28th of November. We value your insights as parents regarding your children's class placements relating to social connections, as well as emotional and academic considerations. We kindly ask that you submit any placement requests in writing to myself, the Director of Primary School Learning by Wednesday 6th November, either via SEQTA Direct Message or a letter to the office addressed to me. We also cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated, however, they will certainly be taken into consideration during the formation of Home Group classes. If you have made requests in previous years, please note that you will need to submit a new request this year, as circumstances can change. It is important to note that requests for specific teachers will not be considered. I will share more details about this process in a letter to families in the coming days.
May God continue to bless you and your family. I’m looking forward to a wonderful term ahead!
God bless you,
Chris Drowley Director of Primary School Learning
