Finally! 2021…
2021…it is so good to see your beautiful face! We’ve been dreaming of you. 2020 is a year that will be etched in our mind for the rest of our lives. Just like the traumatic events of 9/11, or the disheartening days like when NSYNC broke up, there are moments in our life that are burned into our memory. And 2020 will be one of those pivotal memories that we will always remember. For most of us who are a part of this community and receive this publication, 2020 was a year of intense mixed emotions. Real Estate was pure mayhem in 2020! Many of your businesses had record-breaking years and have never been busier. And that can be hard to process knowing many struggled to make ends meet and their business and/or finances took significant leaps backward. I’ve talked to many of you who said, “I pulled way back on my social media. It just didn’t feel right to share about the success we are having during this time.” So many have endured hardships, lost loved ones, and have spent 2020 in a funk.
12 • January 2021
But inside, in regards to those of you who are feeling that way, I hope you aren’t living in those feelings of guilt. I hope you are not thinking, “In times like these, I don’t deserve to have all this success.” And then suppress your joy. We should absolutely feel sympathetic and empathetic for others, and I hope you are using your prosperity to bless others who weren’t as fortunate. But, I feel, to each of you who were able to grow your business during this time… be proud of yourself. You pivoted and built your business to handle exponential growth in an extremely challenging time. You operated intelligently, kept your focus, and reaped the rewards. On the contrary, if you had the opportunity to grow, and failed to capitalize on it, know millions of people would have willingly stepped into your shoes to achieve success. But because of their chosen field, they weren’t lucky enough to have that luxury of possible growth. We would have done a disservice to those people if we chose to retreat during this time. We are not in the clear yet, but I feel cautiously optimistic that 2021 will bring back a sense of normalcy. Many of us will have to pivot again this year. If you successfully did it last year – you will know how to do it again this year. If you missed the mark last year – this year is a perfect time to see what you’re made of. Congrats. We made it to 2021! I look forward to growing alongside you this year, Jordan Espeseth Owner jordan.espeseth@realproducersmag.com

Andrea
Miller STRENGTH OF PURPOSE
Your clients count on you for a wide range of traits to help guide them through the many steps of the real estate process. One of the most powerful is honesty. Andrea Miller is one who takes pride in providing her straightforward brand of advice through her work with her clients each day. As a REALTOR® with Keller Williams Dallas-Preston Road, Andrea offers true strength of purpose. “I am straightforward with people, and I think they appreciate that honesty. For example, on the listing side, I’m very direct about things they need to do to help sell their home and get top dollar,” Andrea says. “My clients would say that I’m honest, direct, a strong negotiator, and always on their side.” Getting Her Start
Andrea’s story began in her hometown of Sherman, Texas. After graduating high school, she
realproducersmag.com
attended Texas Tech, where she received her degree in business marketing. Making her way back to Dallas, she began her career. She met and married her husband, Tad, and settled down in Plano, Texas, a place they have called home for the last 24 years. “I worked in corporate telecommunications in the heyday of the 1990s. I did that for 13 years,” Andrea recalls. “When our first child was born, I decided I wanted to stay home and raise him, so I backed out of corporate America.” It was soon after that Tad and Andrea welcomed their daughter. Rising Above
In 2014, Andrea was diagnosed with breast cancer that was found during a routine mammogram. She says, “The mammogram saved my life.” She underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. It was an exceedingly difficult time for her family.

Andrea with her Assistant, Carolyn Treece. Hayden, Andrea, Tad, & Audrey
Fast forward to 2020 and, as she says, “I just hit my six-year mark, I feel so lucky, and I am doing great now.”
“Getting into the business, it helped that I had that training and career in my corporate background. As a result, when I got into real estate, it was easy to look at it like a business,” Andrea says.
Soon, it was time for more steps forward. “When my kids started middle school, I thought I would dip my toe into something. I did not want to go back to the corporate life. During that time in telecommunications, I traveled so much. My husband and I would see each other for five minutes in-between flights,” she remembers. “I decided I would give real estate a try. We thought it would provide a nice supplemental income to cover extra expenses like activities for the kids.” It was 2016 when she got her real estate license. She found that her past business experience helped her excel. 18 • January 2021
The signs of Andrea’s success have been tremendous. Last year, she recorded an impressive $16 million in sales volume, and is on pace to finish 2020 with over $22 million in sales volume. This is a time of change and growth. “Tad has done well professionally. In 2019, he was number two in his company in sales. Then a few weeks later, he got a call that they were letting him go. Tad got his real estate license, and we are forming a team for 2021,” Andrea says. “We had thought about a five-year plan for him to join the business, but it just happened quicker. It was like God was watching.”

“
I AM STRAIGHTFORWARD WITH PEOPLE, AND I THINK THEY APPRECIATE THAT HONESTY.”
Family Foundation
Andrea’s world revolves around family. She and Tad have two children — their son, Hayden, who is a senior at Plano West High School, and their daughter, Audrey, who is a junior there. In her free time, Andrea enjoys staying active. “I just hired a personal trainer to help with pilates and strength conditioning,” she says. “One of my other favorite things is going out to dinner. We love going to try local restaurants in the area. We also love to travel with our kids. We are a huge Disney family. We’ve gone every year since they were four-years-old and take a trip to New York every year.” Andrea definitely enjoys the journey she’s on in real estate. “I always tell people that I was able to step out of corporate America and reinvent myself and be happy. Not many people get to do that,” she says. “Financially, this career has been awesome for us as a family. I do not buy leads. I built it one conversation, friendship, and building block on top of another. Plus, I get a lot of business in my neighborhood because I’ve been here so long.” At the end of the day, Andrea applies the same straight-ahead approach to her business that she puts to work with her clients. “You can succeed in this industry,” she says. “If you do it right, you work hard, and focus in on it, you can do it.”

TRUCK YARD
THE
What an amazing and needed event! It was so refreshing to get our North DFW Real Producers community back together. The weather was beautiful, and the Truck Yard was the perfect venue for this event. And how about that Toilet Seat Museum? Hilarious. Hopefully, you all noticed the custom toilet paper we had with our event sponsors logos on it. I have

never seen people so excited about toilet paper before. Oh, and the custom RP toilet seats were a hit! The Truck Yard Management Team confirmed they would gladly hang up our toilet seat in the museum. Nothing says, “We have made it,” like having your own custom toilet seat hung up at a restaurant. Success!

I hope you all enjoyed the event as much as we did. Have fun looking at the photos and stay tuned for the details for our next event! Jordan Espeseth Owner

HERO NATION POURING INTO THE WHOLE PERSON If you imagine you’re on a path through life, you have a potential—a capacity to achieve the greatness that’s within you. But what happens when that potential gets obscured, covered up, and subdued through life? How do you get back? That’s where Wayne Salmans and The Hero Nation leap in to walk alongside you and help you find the steps that reveal your path forward. “At The Hero Nation, we’re coaching to the whole person and helping them get clearer on where they want to go and helping to empower them to get there faster and with fewer bruises,” Wayne explains. The Heart Coach
If you were looking for a title for Wayne, it would be “Coach,” but he carries out that role with an important distinction. In fact, Wayne is also known as The Heart Coach. “Coaching here isn’t about fixing. It’s about getting people back to who they are and helping them move ahead,” Wayne emphasizes. “We really want to coach the whole person … helping people building a business they enjoy and that they’re proud of.” While Wayne works with people from all walks of life, he estimates that over 60 percent of those he works with are in real estate. Radical, Unapologetic Success When you talk with Wayne, you instantly hear the passion in his voice that reflects the results he helps people achieve. “What I love is helping people reach what I call radical, unapologetic success. I love seeing the light come on and seeing people pursue what’s right for them … not how they think they should be building and discovering what that actually looks like for them on their own individual journey,” he says.

“When I say the goal is to help people reach ‘unapologetic’ success, that doesn’t mean anything to do with ego. What it means is that you are choosing a path that you know is right for you — not what other people think you should do,” Wayne points out. “It’s that feeling where you say, ‘I’m going to do me, even if you think it’s crazy.’ What I love the most is helping people see their own greatness and then helping them tap into their version of radical, unapologetic success.” Rising Above
While Wayne is an accomplished coach and has helped many people move forward in life, one of his greatest qualifications is the fact that he almost stopped his own journey years ago. “About ten years ago, I was selling a lot of houses and I had a lot of success,” he recalls. “Things looked really great on the outside, but I was at war on the inside. As a result of that internal war, I lost everything and hit rock bottom in a very hardcore way … to the point where I almost took my own life.” In those dark moments, there was the light of realization. “It hit me when I was in that state that no one was coming to save me. It was the moment where I knew I was the only one who could save me. I learned the importance of being your own hero,” he says. “I’ve got to be my own hero, and I need to get my life and heart in alignment.” Step-by-step, Wayne discovered his purpose and pursued it with passion. “Now a big part of my fulfillment is helping others be their own hero so they can be the mom, dad, business owner, or whatever they want to be in life,” he smiles. It’s an ongoing path. It’s not a destination. “Being a hero is not a one-time thing,” Wayne explains. “And it’s not a noun. It’s a verb, and it’s ongoing.” The Heart of Life
Away from work, Wayne treasures the time he spends with his family, including his wife, Brittany, and his children — Gideon, Maddox, Keza, Hudson, and Hadley. In their free time, Wayne enjoys watching hockey and playing games with the kids. He also has a heart for helping others in the community. One of the groups that is near and dear to his heart is Family Promise. “It’s an outstanding organization that helps families who are experiencing homelessness,” he explains. “It can happen very quickly to people who experience difficulty who don’t have a lot of outside support to help them.” Empowering Excellence
As Wayne says, happiness in life is the by-product of tackling great problems and being thrilled in knowing you’re on the right path. 38 • January 2021

“It’s the result of putting your head on the pillow and being proud of who you are and what you did that day,” he says. “I think success is different for everyone. Nothing breaks my heart more than seeing someone create a success that they hate. For me, it’s finding the balance of being thrilled with who I am … and yet I want to be better tomorrow … it’s about growing along the way.” The midst of a pandemic can be a daunting time. Yet, there’s no time like the present.

“Right now, as we look at where we’re at as a country, a lot of it is having people create the new normal and not returning to an old normal,” Wayne says. “I say, ‘What do you want your new normal to be?’ I really want people to walk away with the ability to say, ‘Here’s what I learned.’ I believe the only thing worse than going through a pandemic is going through a pandemic and not learning and adjusting.” As Wayne reflects on the difference he makes with others, he thinks about his path and the feeling of giving back.
“It thrills me to work with people. There’s nothing more exciting. At the same time, I feel like I’m fulfilling part of my own path,” he smiles. “So many people have helped me and poured into me along the way, and so it feels good to know I’m doing my part to help others. If people say, ‘Wayne didn’t inspire me. He empowered me. He helped me see my own greatness and how to tap into that.’ I want them to say, ‘I’m proud of who I am and what I do, based on the clarity that he was able to help me gain.’” For more information about The Hero Nation: Email: Wayne@WayneSalmans.com Website: www.TheHeroNation.com

Michael
Coburn TO O G O O D TO S TAY
“You’re great where you are. You’re just too good to stay there,” a self-philosophy, shared vehemently with others, by Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Town & Country—Allen, Michael Coburn. Michael Coburn has been a career RE/MAX REALTOR® since 1987 and Broker since 2005. He quickly became a company Top Producer and award winner, growing his team to five agents. In 2005, Michael became Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Town & Country. Debra Coburn, Owner/Manager (and wife) is also an integral part of the business. In 2001, after 15 years in Human Resource Management, Debra received her real estate license and joined Michael’s team. In 2005, The

Coburns purchased the RE/MAX Town & Country franchise in Allen. Both Michael and Debra are on-site to support their agents and employees. As Michael states: “Debra manages the day-to-day operations, staff, contract compliance, finance, as well as keeping us all on track. She does her side of the business, so I can do my side of the business. My side is the fun side,” Michael chuckles. With his 33 years of vast experience as a REALTOR® and Broker, Michael is a trustworthy source of information for both agents and brokers. He develops and presents his own agent training programs and is a licensed TREC CE Instructor. Michael loves technology and is always on top of the latest social media trends, lead systems, and
changes in the real estate industry that he can deliver and demonstrate to his agents. “I’m here for agent support, coaching, development, and training. What agents love about me is they know they can call me any day of the week to get an answer or strategize on a deal.” A sentiment he believes will help move agents towards the epitome of success. Coburn first considers himself a leader, motivating and inspiring his agents to take action. His training, coaching, and development style enable agents to build their skills in problem-solving, communicating, business development, and inspiring them to take action, learn, grow, and understand. “I don’t always give an answer to their question right away; I help them find the answer by talking through the situation, and if it’s too challenging, I’ll give my advice or a specific solution.” @realproducers

Willing to Work
This self-proclaimed passionate and charismatic leader leans on a highly-motivated style of training agents. And this level of excessive motivation grew from grinding in his youth. One of four boys, Michael was born in Buffalo, New York. Coburn’s family moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area when he was ten. “My mom was high energy (she had to be with four boys). I’m an extrovert now, but I grew up shy. Although, I think I really was more insecure than shy,” Michael reflects.
23. His real estate agent from that transaction encouraged him to obtain his own real estate license. “I jumped in and joined RE/MAX 33 years ago.” “Early on I realized, wow! This is kind of a crazy business,” shares Michael. Additionally, Coburn carried the financial woes he saw his parents endure, which gave him a drive and constant mindset of, “I have to make money, I have to make money, I have to make money! My biggest fear was not having enough money to pay bills.” Whatever It Takes
“I learned my work ethic from my family. My mom and dad were salt-of-the-earth, good people. The problem is they always worked for someone else and received little pay. They were never coached. As a result, they have struggled financially most of their life. The great news is, after 60 years of marriage, they are still together and happy!” he shares. And Michael learned from them what it meant to grind and to keep pushing forward, even in the face of adversity. “Once you know something, you have to put it into action. You have to be held accountable,” lessons Coburn shares from his parents. But as he found out in his adult life, “If you want to do it at a high-level, you have to have a coach.” “We didn’t have a lot of money, but my parents were happy, positive, and motivating. They said, ‘You can have whatever you want, if you work for it.’” From early beginnings doing the neighborly paper route and mowing lawns, as many teenagers in America do, Michael set his work ethic in motion. In Coburn’s teen years, he wanted a motorcycle. “I was begging, crying, pleading for one.” So, he worked hard, saved up his money, and bought one. Another life lesson from Michael’s parents was, “You’re not going to college, so you better learn a trade.” Coburn laughs, “You don’t want me to go to college? Great! I’ll get a job and go make some money!” And, he did. At the age of 20, Michael moved from Phoenix to Dallas and purchased his first home at age 46 • January 2021
Michael knew he would do whatever it would take to make his real estate game successful and long-term. “Back in my day, there weren’t people like myself to coach or train agents on how to do things.” He bought cassette tapes and emulated his peers, but he knew he needed more. When he was first starting out, Michael attended a training seminar from Mike Ferry. There, he was told to write down his financial goal. Coming from humble backgrounds, and being realistic about being a novice in the real estate world, Coburn wrote down $25,000. Mike Ferry said, “Now add another zero.” “Two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand dollars?” Coburn questioned. But, it was that goal that set his wheels in motion to strive for more than he could have ever surmised. “I worked really, really hard. I didn’t make it to $250,000, but I made it to $100,000, so winner, winner, chicken dinner! Right?” laughs Michael. Those gains paved the way for Coburn to have a long, and successful, career in the North DFW real estate game. “People would ask me, ‘Michael, what are you doing to be successful?’ And, I’d tell them, ‘Buyer’s market, flat market, or seller’s market—you have to list to exist,’” Coburn frankly states. At the time, Michael would carry about 40-50 listings at all times, and close approximately 20 per month, making him the 2002 Top Real Estate Agent in Collin County for units closed. @realproducers

me. It‘s the good management team and the good agents,” shares Coburn. “If you want the good quality, high-producing agents…you have to hire them! Hire the person that’s willing… that really wants to succeed! If you really want it, I can show you what to do…coach and support you…but you have to do the work,” Michael states. “You have to get up, have a daily schedule, and make a commitment to work each day. You must take consistent action over, and over, and over again. Just know: You are going to fail. People don’t like to fail. But if you don’t fail, you’ll never succeed. The more you keep doing it, the more you’ll have a pattern of succeeding! To quote Ryan Blair: ‘If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.’”
As his success grew in experience and dollar signs, others sought him out for advice. “Now that I have hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, people were looking to me,” shares Michael. “Back in my day, there weren’t people like myself telling agents how to do things.” “My passion was no longer just selling real estate; it was helping agents sell real estate,” Coburn says. “Most people need to be reminded…far more than they need to be instructed,” a famous quote by Samuel Johnson and a philosophy he uses to inspire and motivate his agents towards success. A Giver of Knowledge
Agents would ask, “Can I have a copy of this?” after Coburn would do a training presentation. When Michael started out, nobody was willing to share. There was an aura of secrecy 48 • January 2021
amongst agents, like if you shared your success, then you would lose it. That is not the philosophy Coburn uses; he’s a true giver of knowledge and tools for success! Michael and Debra Coburn obtained the land for the office they built in 2010 by giving it up to God and setting positive intentions. With a goal of having a piece of land under contract by September 1, 2009, the land developer wasn’t willing to sub-divide the property. After looking at other avenues and hitting roadblocks, Coburn coincidentally drove past that piece of land they initially had their sights on and noticed the “For Sale” sign changed to: “Will Sub-Divide.” The Coburns executed the contract to purchase the land. Michael looked at the date on his watch: September 1, 2009. “God had a plan,” Michael smiles. The 11,000 square foot building was completed in December 2010. “What makes me successful at my office is not necessarily me; it’s the good people I put around
Outside of his passion for helping real estate agents succeed at a high-level, Michael likes to be active and loves to play golf, workout, and ride his bike. “I like to downhill ski and fish now and again…especially if there’s beer and friends involved!” he chuckles. “Debra and I love to entertain at home and hang out with our friends, and we love to have social events with our agents. The current Covid situation has changed our environment a lot. However, we look forward to more fun times with everyone in 2021. I love community and social events. I get my energy from just being around people,” Coburn shares. This active, motivating, goal crusher is sure to continue to make gains and pave the way for others, because, as he says, “You’re great where you are. You’re just too good to stay there.” @realproducers

CCAR: in the know Written by: Bri Westbury, Content Specialist at the Collin County Association of Realtors (CCAR)
PLAN FOR YOUR SUCCESS Last year was weird.
I bet your 2020 vision board didn’t involve sweat pants, elbow bumps, or toilet paper wars. However, it might have included record sales volumes and a growing client list, both of which 2020 delivered in spades. If you began 2020 with intentionality and preparing for your big business boom, you were ready to accommodate the increased demand. Your continuing education hours were completed methodically throughout the year with courses that equipped you to execute your job with excellence. Your pipeline was refined, “touches” to past clients planned, and your marketing materials were streamlined and ready to roll. Sound too good to be true? It’s not. It is time to rewrite the old adage, “Good things come to those who wait.” The reality is, good things come to those who plan, prepare, and WORK. One exercise that many successful business owners perform to evaluate their current position before planning a new strategy is a SWOT analysis. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. To begin, take a piece of paper and divide it into four sections. Give each section one of these four titles: 50 • January 2021
@realproducers
Strengths:
In this section, write down things that you do particularly well or something that distinguishes you from other real estate professionals. Ask yourself what your competitors might see as your strengths.
the distribution of economic activity within cities, and the impacts of public policy on urban life and real estate. The virtual event will also feature a panel discussion with McKinney Airport, Texas Central, and the PGA, as well as a panel on race, diversity, and fair housing.
Weakness:
Next, consider your weaknesses. Honesty is important in each step of the SWOT analysis, but it is of critical importance here. Think about what you could improve, and what practices you should avoid. Take time to examine why other real estate professionals are experiencing more success than you, what are you lacking?
Threats:
This section allows you to search and evaluate anything that can negatively impact your business. It is critical to anticipate and manage threats before they have a chance to stall your growth.
What are some openings or chances for something positive to happen? Openings might arise through market developments, new technology, changes to government policy, changes to social patterns, population, and lifestyle fluctuations.
Don’t complete your “threat” square before hearing Blast Off 2021 speaker Trista Curzydlo, J.D. Curzydlo’s career as an attorney both in the courtroom and the Statehouse provides her with a strong grasp on the “why” behind difficult legal topics while her experience as Legal Counsel for a REALTOR® association allows her to provide the “how” for risk management in a manner that everyone can understand and enjoy.
Need some ideas? Attend CCAR’s Blast Off 2021, a virtual event happening on January 19 and hear Dr. Adam Perdue, Research Economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, discuss the economic relationship between Texas cities and regions,
We hope that 2021 is a little less weird. But no matter what the future holds, the time you spend today evaluating your business and preparing for success will be worth the effort. To learn more about the 2021 Blast Off event, visit www.ccar.net/blastoff.

with REAL PROPERTY Getting it Done with Trust, Integrity, and FOCUS
“People trust us to manage their largest investments in life.” Putting It All Together
Goals without follow-through really just remain dreams. The same principle holds true in real estate property management. That’s why it means so much when you have a partner that follows through. As Owner and President of Real Property Management Focus, Brian Poduska is a living example of that. Each day, he and his team are getting it done with trust, integrity, and focus. “My business is based on long-term relationships, and being a trusted advisor when it comes to overall real estate investment. It’s all based on trust and integrity,” Brian says.

Real Property Management is the largest residential property management organization in the country with more than 300 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Each office is individually owned and operated. Brian owns the office headquartered in Frisco and manages properties throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region. “We are a property management company, and we focus on our investor partners’ assets,” Brian says. “What we do is protect and optimize real estate investments. We take the hard work away from our owner partners
– simply put, we make it easy to own investment property.” As Brian says, he takes pride in offering a full range of powerful services. “I can find those investment properties using our tools. That’s just the start. We handle all aspects of the process, from property search and purchase, to management, and eventually the disposition of the property,” Brian explains. “We don’t just manage properties. We become a trusted advisor for our clients along the journey. It’s a relationship-based business. We look to partner with investors who are aiming to grow their portfolios. In the process, we provide in-depth

Brian works with a wide range of people who benefit from the services he provides. “It happens in a lot of different ways. Our clients include people who may be in a tight spot because they own several properties, and they realize they can’t do it all themselves. They know they need help, so we partner with them in that regard. We also work with folks who may be unhappy with their current management situation, or from referrals from REALTOR® partners who have someone who is purchasing a home, and wants to explore the opportunity to rent out their home. In those situations, they usually don’t have an idea if it’s even a viable solution for them to see what the market would bear,” Brian points out.

“We provide information to them, so they can make an educated decision about renting it out or selling the property. In other cases, we may work with seasoned investors with 10 to 15 properties who understand the value of having a property management team on point to take care of any liability situation they may run into.” Customers who work with Real Property Management Focus gain important advantages, including powerful technology. “We offer Wealth Optimizer, which is an analysis tool to look at all of the different aspects of a real estate investment, showing long-term return potential, along with aspects of maintenance, localized appreciation, depreciation, and much more.” Steps Ahead
Before embarking on his real estate career and coming to the area, Brian was born and raised in Chicago.

As he came of age, he earned his finance degree from the University of Illinois, and he enjoyed a 20-year career in the food manufacturing industry. Brian has worked for organizations such as Unilever, PepsiCo, and Frito Lay. Through time, he moved to Dallas and saw a new opportunity. “When I moved here, I was blown away by all the growth in the area. My eyes were wide open like a kid in a candy store,” Brian recalls. “In Chicago, I had managed properties with my brother.

Throughout my seven years at Frito Lay, I always had in the back of my mind that I could get into real estate. I always had an interest and a passion for it. So I had the opportunity to meet with Real Property Management, and it was a great fit!” Life’s Priorities
In his free time, Brian enjoys time with his family, including his wife, Christine. “I couldn’t do any of this without Christine’s support,” Brian smiles. “She fully backs the entrepreneurial spirit, and she had it within herself, too. In fact, she has her own pet care business called Christine’s Canines.” Brian and Christine have three children, including 15-year-old son, William, who is involved in varsity and travel team hockey, as well as marching band, 15-year-old daughter, Annabel, a former gymnast who now plays volleyball, and 11-year-old daughter, Emmeline, who is also involved in gymnastics. “I love being a parent,” Brian says. “The main challenge is to balance being there and supporting all of them with their activities.” In his free time, Brian has a passion for playing golf. He also plays softball and basketball. He enjoys watching, playing, and coaching sports. Brian and his family also like to travel when they can. Day-by-day, more and more people are learning about Brian and the impact he can deliver for them. I’m also all about connecting the right folks together. If I don’t have a direct connection, I want to connect them to someone who can help them move ahead. JANE CLARK cover story
Written by: Dave Danielson Photography by: Scott Peek Photography
Reputation Built on Results With 20 years of experience and a strong reputation for hard work and professionalism, Jane Clark checks all the right boxes.
Maybe the first thing you notice about Jane is the impressive number of awards and accolades she has won during her long and successful career. Almost from the start of her career, her peers recognized her as D Magazine’s Best REALTOR® (20062020) and a Five-Star Professional REALTOR®. Keller Williams 66 • January 2021
North Collin County named her Top Producer and Top Team, year-afteryear. Keller Williams Regional named her Top 5 Elite Producer, Top REALTOR® in a 5-State Region, and has twice been submitted by KW as one of the top 1000 US REALTORS®. Local magazines chimed in with Best McKinney REALTOR®, Best Prosper REALTOR®, and Best local REALTOR®. In addition to these accolades is her deep personal empathy, quiet confidence, and singular focus she maintains on her client relationships. So, how did this outgoing, enthusiastic lady become one of North Texas’ most productive and well-known REALTORS®? Surprisingly, the story begins a long time ago in Denmark. @realproducers

Jane is the youngest daughter of one of Denmark’s well-known swimming stars. Her mom’s journey took her from Denmark to Canada where Jane was born, and, ultimately to Florida in a starring role with Esther Williams at Florida’s Cypress Gardens. Jane had an idyllic childhood in the land of seashells and sunshine. Going to work with mom was the highlight of the day. Soon she was rubbing those tiny elbows with Esther Williams, Joey Bishop, and Fernando Lamas as Hollywood came calling. In fact, rumor has it that the adorable little girl appears in more than one Esther Williams classic film. So, her empathy, people skills, and tenacious work ethic began in the fun of endless summers, trips back to Denmark, and an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. Jane will captivate you with her stories about alligator trapping, cattle roundups, and her part in The Great Madagascar Circus Animal Rescue. It is all just a part of who she is. Dallas Texas – A New Career
Jane earned her Bachelor of Arts from Florida State and entered the high-end retail marketing field. She worked in her beloved Denmark for several years before returning to the U.S. for a job with a major retailer. She married, moved to Dallas, and started a family in quick succession. “I picked Dallas smack dab in the middle. I thought this would be an economically smart move,” she says. After continuing to work retail for a time in Dallas, Jane transitioned into insurance. In the process of moving from location-to-location in the Dallas area, Jane’s eyes were opened to the possibilities of real estate in a less-than-ideal way. “We had put our home up on the market to move to McKinney. And I felt that the real estate agent I had 68 • January 2021
thought this was just another transaction,” Jane remembers. “I had a family, I had two children, and I didn’t feel the sensitivity and compassion about moving us. That’s what sparked my interest in becoming a real estate agent and being customer-service oriented.” Gaining Traction Helping Others
Jane earned her license and hit the ground running. In her first year, she earned Rookie of the Year honors, and has gained recognition in the DFW area, earning D Magazine’s Best REALTOR® award every year since 2006. Success leaves clues, and Jane’s client-first, service-oriented philosophy, along with a diligent work ethic forged in her early years, has established her as a force in the North Texas real estate world. Since 2000, Jane has applied her experience and empathetic nature to the way she helps those around her today. During her real estate journey, Jane has continued to broaden her initial training. She has become a certified luxury REALTOR®, having an almost global client reach, and offering specialized marketing for high-end homes. She has obtained training and certifications as a senior retirement specialist, helping clients transition to a simpler retirement lifestyle. Jane was also one of the first REALTORS® to operate as TREC licensed LLC to assure long-term business continuation. It is easy to see how Jane applied her experience to the way she helps those around her today. “The big key is I care, I listen, and I’m compassionate,” she says. “It’s not about the money. It’s about seeking, guiding, and providing a service. Today, our team blocks time for networking, writing handwritten notes, and making personal phone calls – going back to what I call old-fashioned real estate! Adding a personal touch to our clients.” However, Jane understands that in today’s marketing world, social media is just as important. Jane has made a big push to expand her social media presence, reaching potential clients through these platforms. Jane is quick to point to the pride she has in her team, a team that consistently ranks at the top of Keller Williams’ top producing teams in the area. @realproducers
IT MEANS A LOT TO BE PART OF CHANGING SOMEONE’S LIFE…TO HELP THEIR DREAMS GET BIGGER.

“We have a very tight-knit team with a goal-oriented focus. We start each week with meetings to discuss our weekly goals, as well as our individual goals. Because we always have the client in mind, we are consistently checking in with one another to ensure our service-oriented team ethic is top of mind. We always have a base to come back to and I think that what we’re proud of.” Fulfilling Difference
When you talk with Jane, her sense of fulfillment comes through loud and clear. “It means a lot to be part of changing someone’s life…to help their dreams get bigger. Maybe there’s something traumatic going on in their life, and I’m able to help them move their memories gently into a new location,” Jane says. Jane offers advice for those who are entering the business today. “Probably the most important tip I could give you is to remember you are in a service business. Your client is looking for help, information, and trustworthiness.” 70 • January 2021
“I remember when I started, I was listening to another agent. Each time she answered the phone, she sounded so happy and upbeat. I knew I could do that, too. I found if I stood up when I talked, and I was smiling, people could feel that energy from me. And it worked, because I would always be happy and enthusiastic. Number two is to speak with confidence. You are the real estate expert. Even if you feel ‘new,’ continue asking questions and learning every day,” Jane explains. “So, I would come across with confidence…being energetic…so people could feel the enthusiasm I had for their property, no matter what that home looked like. But that first connection with your client is over the phone. So, how does your voice sound? Another tip is to not wait to hire a coach. I was in sports. As
a swimmer, I had a coach. Why would I not look for that in my career? Someone to push and mentor me. I would encourage that. Don’t even think about the money because you’ll make the money back.” As Jane and her team move into the future, she has visions of continuing to grow and help others. Jane sees a bright future ahead as she builds on the lessons and experiences of the past 20 years. “I was so right when I first started out,” Jane says. “It is a great feeling of happiness and satisfaction to know your efforts make such a difference for so many clients. We will continue to do what we do best and grow our reputation within our client family and the community.” @realproducers

FAQ ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE
Real Producers magazine started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 100 markets across the nation and spreading rapidly. North DFW Real Producers launched in August 2018. Name a large city and we are there or will be soon! In every market, we take the Top 500 agents, based off of the MLS production, and we build an exclusive magazine around those agents. We share their stories, successes, market trends, upcoming events — really, anything that will connect, inform and inspire, we put in the monthly publication. We strive to inform and inspire the top producing real estate agents in the local market and connect them socially. The secondary focus is to provide an avenue for our affiliate partners to create relationships with these top performers on a level that they might not be able to achieve on their own. Q: WHO RECEIVES NORTH DFW REAL PRODUCERS MAGAZINE? A: The top 500 agents in North Dallas/Fort Worth. We pull the MLS numbers (by volume) from in the North DFW area: Collin County, Denton County and a few other locations in Dallas County that are North of I-635. Approximately 20,000 agents are licensed in this territory. We cut the list off at #500, and the distribution was born. The 2018 Top 500 cutoff is $8.5 million. The list will reset at the end of every year and will continue to update annually. Q: WHAT ABOUT THE DALLAS AND FORT WORTH TERRITORIES? A: Dallas Real Producers (Dallas County South of 635 — including Rockwall County) launched May 2019 and Tarrant County Real Producers will be launching in 2021! Yes, Real Producers is covering the entire Metroplex! Q: WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BEING FEATURED IN THIS MAGAZINE? A: It’s really simple — every feature you see has first been nominated. You can nominate other REALTORS®, affiliates, brokers, owners, or even yourself! Office leaders can also nominate realproducersmag.com
REALTORS®. We will consider anyone brought to our attention who is in the Top 500 because we don’t know everyone’s story, so we need your help to learn about them. A nomination currently looks like this: You email us at northdfw@realproducersmag.com with the subject line, “Nomination: (Name of Nominee).” Please explain why you are nominating them to be featured. It could be they have an amazing story that needs to be told — perhaps they overcame extreme obstacles, they are an exceptional leader, have the best customer service, or they give back to the community in a big way, etc. The next step is an interview with us to ensure it’s a good fit. If it all works out, then we put the wheels in motion for our writer to conduct an interview to write the article and for our photographers to schedule a photoshoot. Q: WHAT DOES IT COST A REALTOR® /TEAM TO BE FEATURED? A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. It costs nothing, my friends, so nominate away! We are not a pay-to-play model. We share real stories of real producers. Q: WHO ARE THE PREFERRED PARTNERS? A: Anyone listed as a “preferred partner” in the front of the magazine is a part of this community. They will have an ad in every issue of the magazine, attend our quarterly events, and be a part of our online community. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. One of many of the top agents has recommended every single preferred partner you see in this publication. We won’t even meet with a business that has not been vetted by one of you and “stamped for approval,” in a sense. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best REALTORS® in the area but the best affiliates, as well, so we can grow stronger together. Q: HOW CAN I RECOMMEND A PREFERRED PARTNER? A: If you know and want to recommend a local business that works with top REALTORS®, please email us to let us know at jordan.espeseth@realproducersmag.com.
