“It’s Not the Market.

It’s the Mindset.”

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past few years working with top real estate agents in DFW, it’s this: The best of the best don’t let the market define their success.

Yes, the market shifts. Interest rates rise and fall. Inventory tightens. Headlines scream uncertainty. But the top producers? They rise anyway. They choose grit over excuses. They double down on relationships, sharpen their skillset, and refuse to sit back and wait for things to “go back to normal.”

So this August, I want to challenge you: Stop watching the market and start watching your mindset.

I see it firsthand. Ashley, an RP Top Agent who also is on the Real Producers Team, is having one of her best years yet—not because everything is easy, but because she shows up every day with intention, focus, and drive. Her husband, Reece, said it best: “She’s making it happen.”

And that’s the mindset I see echoed across so many of you who grace these pages month after month.

We created Real Producers to connect and celebrate agents like you—people who don’t just survive in a tough market, but thrive. Because it’s not the economy. It’s not the season. It’s not the

interest rates. It’s you. And how you choose to respond.

We just wrapped up our August 7th Masterclass, where a panel of experts unpacked how to leverage AI in business. The agents who showed up? They didn’t do it because they had time to kill. They did it because they know the best investment they can make is in themselves. They’re showing up. They’re learning. They’re sharpening their edge.

The truth is, mindset is what separates those who get by from those who break through. And that’s exactly why we’re fired up for what’s coming next.

Mark your calendars: RP Elevate is happening September 29–30 at the Loews in Arlington. This isn’t just another conference; it’s a chance to be in the room with agents and leaders from across the country—including powerhouse speakers like Rory Vaden, Molly Bloom, and Tom Ferry. The kind of people who stretch your thinking and raise your standard.

If you’re ready to be inspired, sharpened, and equipped to dominate this next season—don’t miss it.

Here’s to showing up, staying sharp, and keeping the right mindset, no matter what the market does.

ASHLEY Massey

ON THE

Fast Track

By the time most real estate agents find their footing in the industry, Ashley Massey has already written the book on how to accelerate success—and she means that quite literally. Fast Track Agent, her Amazon #1 new release, didn’t just spring from theory; it was born out of a mindset forged through international ventures, personal reinvention, and an unrelenting belief in selfmade success.

Ashley’s story begins far from the Dallas skyline, in Billings, Montana, where her entrepreneurial instincts surfaced early. “My first business was buying and selling Beanie Babies with my family,” she recalls. “That spark never stopped.” Years later, that same spark led her across continents—earning an MBA in economics and finance through the SejongSyracuse Global program in South Korea, launching a Korean beauty business, and later heading international marketing for a skincare manufacturer in Germany. When offered the chance to relocate anywhere in the world, her answer was simple: “Send me to Dallas.”

Shortly after purchasing her first home in 2021—and

encountering a less-thanstellar agent—Ashley’s next chapter became clear. “I realized this was an industry that needed to be elevated,” she explains. When the pandemic shuttered her position overseas, she didn’t pause. She pivoted. “I was licensed three months later. I knew I needed to be in a business where my success was determined by me, without ceilings or limitations—just belief in what’s possible.”

That mindset—what she calls “radical personal responsibility”—has been her compass ever since. “I’m not the victim of any circumstance of my past,” Ashley says. “I am the creator of my present and future.” It’s a statement that carries even more weight given her experiences.

While living in Asia, Ashley spent nearly 13 years in what she now recognizes as a cult. “I had no responsibility for my life or circumstances. I had to seek permission for everything,” she shares. Escaping that control, navigating a difficult divorce, and reestablishing herself in the U.S. might have paralyzed others. Not Ashley. “The power to tackle any obstacle sits between your

ears. When I reprogrammed my thought patterns and how I viewed myself and the world, everything changed.”

That mental transformation became the foundation for her business success. Within 60 days of licensure, she had her first clients under contract. “I thought that was the norm,” she laughs.

“But I quickly realized I had tapped into something many agents hadn’t—a system, a mindset, a strategy.” That realization inspired her to launch Fast Track Agent Academy, which helps new agents establish a thriving business in just 90 days. Her mission? “To help agents stop spinning their wheels and start producing.”

Ashley isn’t just passionate about the local real estate scene; she’s making waves globally. “I’m working with international partners on developments overseas, and exploring new territories is incredibly exciting,” she says. Her global background gives her a unique advantage. “I tell people I’ve lived many lives before real estate. My background in economics, finance, and international marketing allows me to bring a wellrounded, global perspective to every transaction.”

Her success has not gone unnoticed. From being named a Modern Luxury Dallas Influential Leader in Real Estate to earning Douglas Elliman’s 2025 President’s Circle Award, Ashley is quickly becoming a standout in Dallas’ competitive market. But what matters most to her is impact. “I want to be remembered for elevating this industry. The 87% failure rate for new agents is unacceptable to me. I want to help change that.”

As a relocation client herself, Ashley brings empathy and excellence to clients moving to Dallas. “I love working with families starting new lives here. I know what that journey feels like, and I aim to offer a level of service that makes their transition seamless.” She’s also built a strong national referral network and frequently travels to partner markets to strengthen those relationships.

Yet for Ashley, success isn’t just about numbers or accolades.

MY ‘WHY’ IS TO LIVE A LIFE WITHOUT RESERVATION. I WANT A LIFE CREATED ON MY OWN TERMS, NOT DICTATED BY ANYONE ELSE.

It’s about alignment. “My ‘why’ is to live a life without reservation. I want a life created on my own terms, not dictated by anyone else.” That vision includes international expansion, helping 1,000 agents through her academy this year, and traveling the globe to attend Formula 1 races with her daughter.

“She’s seven and already the best ‘real estator’ I know,” Ashley laughs. “She shares my love for fashion, food, and F1.”

For those entering the field, Ashley offers hard-earned wisdom: “Your success isn’t up to the market, your team, or your brokerage. It’s on you. Run your business like a

business from day one and be your biggest believer.”

Ashley Massey is proof that your past doesn’t define your future—your mindset does. And when it comes to creating success in real estate, Ashley is laying down the fast track for others to follow.

Preservan Dallas

Preserving the Past, Building the Future

When Ben Henderson made the leap from aerospace engineer to business owner, he didn’t just change careers—he changed perspectives. “I had a great time working as an engineer,” Ben shared, “but after 20 years, I was ready to tackle a new set of problems and take on the challenge of starting and running my own business.” What he didn’t expect was how deeply meaningful that shift would become—not just for him, but for the people he now calls “Neighbors.”

Today, Ben is the proud owner of Preservan Dallas, a business rooted in something rare in the modern world: permanence. Specializing in wood rot repair, Preservan doesn’t just patch problems—they preserve architectural beauty. “Our motto is ‘We save the future by preserving the past,” Ben said. “And we truly believe that ‘Repair is a radical act’ in a throwaway world.”

This mission, and the craftsmanship that supports it, have made Preservan Dallas stand out in a crowded field of contractors and handymen. Their approach is far from ordinary. Using a highly refined epoxy repair system originally developed by the National Park Service, Ben and his

team can repair wood elements—like doors, beams, and century-old windows—with a level of integrity and detail that far exceeds traditional methods.

“We remove all the rot and then use epoxies to reinforce and consolidate the existing wood before filling and reshaping,” Ben explained. “Once painted, our repairs are seamless—and we even do faux finishing when needed.” That’s the difference between craftsmanship and cover-up, and it’s why Preservan guarantees their work for 10 years, though they expect it to last the life of the home.

Ben’s journey to Dallas was guided by both personal and professional reasons. “My family’s here—my parents, my siblings. I wanted to be closer to them,” he shared. “And Dallas offered the perfect opportunity to start this business.” After exploring multiple franchise models, Preservan felt like the right fit. “It’s a newer brand with a data-driven mindset and an amazing team that really stands by their values. I didn’t want to be just a number.”

That sense of connection shows up in everything Preservan Dallas does— from the repair process to the client relationships. “We don’t call our clients customers. We call them Neighbors,” Ben said. “It changes our mindset. We want to run into them at the grocery store and feel proud. And honestly, we get waved at from driveways all the time—it’s a great feeling.”

Preservan’s Neighbors often own highend or historic homes where wood features are too costly or irreplaceable to simply tear out. “We recently saved a hand-hewn 18x18 beam in a 100-yearold home,” Ben shared. “Replacement would have been a nightmare.” But their services aren’t limited to residential work—they’re expanding into commercial spaces, where storefronts and original woodwork need the same level of care.

“Our repairs help maintain curb appeal, prevent closings from getting delayed, and give buyers peace of mind that rot isn’t a deal-breaker,” he explained. “We’re a resource agents can trust to preserve value without cutting corners.”

His team—Jonathan, Cesar, Fernando, and admin superstar Jaymi—is as dedicated as he is. “Jonathan, our lead tech, owns and maintains a 110-yearold home himself. We really care about what we’re doing,” Ben said. “That shows up in every job.”

Despite being just one year into the business, Ben’s already looking ahead. “This year is about building strong management systems so we can grow— double or even triple the team—to meet

demand,” he said. “Success for me is a well-oiled business that also gives me space to enjoy life.”

And enjoy he does. When he’s not restoring woodwork, Ben explores the Bishop Arts District where he lives, sips local coffee, and unwinds with sci-fi audiobooks. “Dungeon Crawler Carl is my favorite,” he admitted with a smile. His cats keep him company at home, and his engineering background means there’s always a project underway— like assembling a wooden clock kit, or one day, restoring another classic car like the 1968 Datsun roadster he used to own.

In many ways, Ben hasn’t left engineering behind; he’s simply reengineered what success looks like. “Progress, not perfection,” he said, quoting a personal mantra. “Engineers tend to get stuck overthinking. But in business, you’ve got to keep moving and adjust along the way.”

That mindset—combined with skill, heart, and a commitment to quality— has quickly made Preservan Dallas a trusted name in a city that values both heritage and innovation. “We stand by our values and workmanship,” Ben emphasized. “We want people to feel they can trust us with their homes—and know we’ll take good care of them while we’re there.”

DARREN

GOBIN

PHOTOS BY JIN

If you ever find yourself in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and spot a real estate agent zipping around on a scooter, there’s a good chance it’s Darren Gobin. “I want to be remembered as just being a little REALTOR® on a scooter,” he says with a laugh, but behind the humor is a story of grit, grace, and strong faith.

Darren grew up in Carrollton, a community where family values ran deep and everyone seemed to know each other. Life was simple, but not without its challenges.

“Just where I started from makes me appreciate how far I’ve come,” Darren reflects. He attended school locally and eventually found himself working in the corporate world, where he dove into audits and examinations for a Fortune 500 company. It was a secure job, but something inside him felt unfulfilled. “I always knew I loved people. Numbers were fine, but they didn’t smile back.”

In 2022, Darren made a leap of faith and stepped into the world of real estate. The market was intense, competition stiff, but Darren brought something unique to the table—his hustle, heart, and deep-rooted belief in purpose. “I’m passionate about helping first-time homeowners achieve their dream of homeownership,” he shares. And it’s not just lip service—Darren thrives on being part of his clients’ milestones.

“The most rewarding part of my business is being invited to the housewarming parties and

FROM SCOOTERS TO SOLD SIGNS

celebrating with my clients. That’s when I know I did something meaningful.”

Real estate isn’t just a job for Darren; it’s a ministry. He calls it his “faith walk,” a path carved through uncertainty but guided by trust in something greater. “The best advice I’ve received came from someone who told me, ‘Have faith in yourself and never give up.’ That’s what keeps me going.” His biggest challenge hasn’t been in the transactions or paperwork—it’s been finding the courage to bet on himself when the odds seemed overwhelming. But Darren has learned that fear is no match for faith. “I believe that God’s brought me this far not to leave me.”

Now, as a full-time single dad to two boys—Dylan and Ryan— Darren’s days are packed with balancing parenting and business.

“My boys are my why,” he says. Whether he’s helping with homework or showing homes, Darren’s goal is to model what dedication looks like. He laughs, recalling, “They think it’s cool when I’m on the news or being recognized, but I just want them to see their dad trying.”

And recognized he has been. Darren has quickly made a name for himself in the real estate community, earning the title of eXp ICON Agent, being featured in Dallas Real Producers, and ranked among the Top 50 Agents in Texas within eXp Realty. Still, he’s humble about his accolades. “Awards are great, but for me, it’s always about the people. When a client becomes like family, it’s all worth it.”

For Darren, success is defined simply: “Helping people with their real estate needs. Whether it’s a sale, purchase, or lease—it’s

about making their lives a little better.” And he genuinely enjoys meeting people from all walks of life. Each person has a story, and Darren listens—not just to close a deal, but to build a relationship.

Outside of work, Darren recharges by spending time on the lake or just hanging with his boys. “The lake is my reset button,” he smiles. It’s where he finds peace, away from contracts and closings. His energy, however, never truly slows down.

“The hustle is in me,” he says. And it’s visible in everything he does— from chasing leads to chasing his sons around the backyard.

His advice for rising agents is rooted in the journey he’s walked: “Believe in yourself and surround yourself with people who truly want to see you succeed.” Darren knows the value of community, and he credits his progress to those who stood beside him when he had nothing but a vision and a scooter.

As for what’s next, Darren is laserfocused on growth—personally, professionally, and spiritually. “I’ve got goals this year to beat last year’s numbers, sure. But more than that, I want to help more families, be more present for my boys, and let my faith lead me every step of the way.”

Dallas has given him a platform, and Darren sees big things ahead for the city. “DFW is a great place to raise a family. There’s so much coming to Dallas—growth, innovation, opportunity. I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Maybe you’ll see him riding through your neighborhood soon—one hand on the handlebar, the other holding a closing folder, ready to help someone start a new chapter. He may joke about being the “little REALTOR® on a scooter,” but Darren Gobin’s impact is anything but small.

AMY SACK AMY SACK

East Dallas Through & Through

In a city as large and sprawling as Dallas, real estate agents are everywhere—but few have a love story with their neighborhood quite like Amy Sack. The seasoned agent with Compass and a founding member of the TREND Group has not only carved out a successful nine-year real estate career— she’s done it by rooting her business in the heart of East Dallas, a community she speaks about with the fondness of an old friend.

“I’m super passionate about my neighborhood,” Amy says, her voice lighting up when she talks about the tree-lined streets, vibrant restaurants, and walkable charm of East Dallas. “It has really shaped who I am and my business. I can’t imagine living anywhere else in Dallas other than Lower Greenville.”

Originally from Abilene, Amy’s journey took her far from West Texas. After earning her degree at Texas A&M, a publishing program at Rice University sparked a bold move to New York City. There, she spent over a decade in publishing and advertising, working for notable names like Ogilvy and SmartMoney Magazine, a joint venture of The Wall Street Journal and the Hearst Corporation. But the pull of Texas—and love—brought her home.

When Amy and her husband, Jason, settled in Dallas, they weren’t just choosing a place to live; they were planting roots. “What drew me to East Dallas was the walkability to all the Lower Greenville restaurants, coffee shops, and Granada—since I’m a big live music fan,” she shares. But it was more

I once executed an offer while standing in line at Epcot.

than entertainment that won her over. It was the sense of belonging she found within the community, especially when their daughters began attending local public schools.

“I was blown away by the community of parents at Mockingbird Elementary,” she says. “I jumped right in—volunteering, co-chairing auctions, joining the PTA. It was incredibly rewarding.” In fact, Amy’s commitment earned her a Texas PTA Lifetime Member award, a distinction she holds close to her heart.

This deep love for her neighborhood and its public school feeder pattern has become a key driver in her career. “I love talking with people at open houses who are relocating here. I get to tell them how amazing East Dallas is and why this is the place to be,” she says. “And it’s not just about selling homes—it’s about welcoming them into something special.”

Amy started her real estate career in 2016, after leaving a corporate role at Yahoo! when her position was moved back to New York. Her husband was flipping homes on the side at the time, so she got licensed to support him—but soon discovered real estate was more than a side project. “I wanted to do something more local, more communitybased,” Amy explains. “And once I started, I never looked back.”

Amy’s focus has evolved over the years. Today, she’s known for her strategic listing prep and her hands-on approach. “Pre-market preparation is a huge differentiator for me,” she says. “We offer complimentary staging—and not just throw pillows. We fully staged a recent M Streets listing with inventory from our own team.” The attention to

detail and design set her apart—and clients notice.

Partnering with local businesses is another signature move. “I always work with Bee Contained for flower pots or in-ground plantings,” she adds. “They’re a small business run by local moms— one of whom I met at Mockingbird Elementary. Supporting them is important to me and fun!”

But balancing this high level of service with personal life hasn’t always been easy. “Work-life balance is my biggest challenge,” Amy admits. “I have an ‘always on’ mentality. Maybe it’s the NYC hustle in me, but I’ve always had a strong work ethic. Even in high school, I was babysitting and lifeguarding. In college, I worked in a few departments’ publishing programs. It’s just who I am.”

Despite the demanding nature of the business, Amy finds joy in every connection. “My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is meeting people in the community,” she says. “That’s what drew me in. I wanted to know what was happening in my neighborhood. Real estate gave me that—and more.”

And people have taken notice. Amy is consistently recognized among the top in her field, landing the #4 spot in The Advocate ’s Top 25 Realtors in Lakewood/East Dallas this year. She’s also a D Magazine Best Agent and Top Producer, accolades that reflect not just production, but impact.

Beyond her professional life, Amy is a wife and mother to two daughters, Katy and Morgan, who attend Woodrow Wilson High School and are active in cheer, tennis, and volleyball. The Sacks are proud Disney enthusiasts, with more

than a decade of visits under their belt— sometimes twice a year. “We’ve been to both U.S. parks, Disneyland Paris and even the Disney resort in Hawaii,” she laughs. “I once executed an offer while standing in line at Epcot.”

Amy’s story is one of hustle, heart, and home. She credits her early mentor, Gaynelle Hanger, for reminding her to “do real estate activities every day—tour homes, make calls, help other agents. The more energy you put into it, the more it comes back.” And putting in the energy is what she does. One example of Amy continuing to follow this advice today is holding open houses every other weekend, up to 150 a year.

As she looks ahead, Amy is excited about growing her TREND Group team, mentoring junior agents, and continuing to pour into the East Dallas community she loves so dearly.

ALISON HOUPT ALISON

HOUPT

ANSWERING THE CALL

In an industry that often rewards individualism and competition, Alison Houpt stands out for a very different reason—she leads with connection. “I always answer the phone,” she says. “I approach each transaction with a we mentality. Collaboration is everything.”

For Alison, real estate isn’t just a career—it’s the culmination of a lifetime surrounded by the industry. Growing up in Rowlett, Texas, she started in real estate before most teenagers even had their driver’s licenses. At 15, she was already working at Reunion Title in Garland for the Luna Family. Through a work program offered by the Garland Independent School District, she was able to log over 30 hours a week while still in high school. “I knew early on that I didn’t want to waste time,” she recalls.

But even though she had a strong foundation in real estate, Alison didn’t jump right in after college. She graduated during a recession, when the market was in turmoil and launching a career in real estate wasn’t exactly promising. Instead, she worked as the assistant to the CEO of a small oil and gas company. “I kept my head down, learned everything I could, and waited for the right time.”

That time came just over 11 years ago. Since then, Alison has risen to become the executive vice president and Broker Associate at Scout, building a reputation for not only being a powerhouse in sales— closing nearly $15 million in volume last year—but for her generosity, empathy, and willingness to go above and beyond. “I think one thing that separates me from others is that I have way more friends and allies in this industry than some. I’m always willing to go the extra mile.”

That mindset has served her well, especially in times of adversity. Alison’s real estate business was put to the test recently in ways that no market trend could have prepared her for. “One of the biggest challenges

I’ve had to overcome was navigating a cancer diagnosis while continuing to run my business—and no one knew.” She quietly persevered, putting her clients first, all while managing the emotional and physical toll. Today, she’s proud to say she’s been cancer-free for nearly a year. “It taught me the value of time, of doing what matters most, and only working with the people who value what you bring to the table.”

That clarity has sharpened her definition of success. “For me, success means having enough saved and invested to choose who I work with and refer the rest. It’s about freedom—financial and emotional.”

Alison is also deeply passionate about mentoring the next generation of agents, especially through social media. “It’s the most powerful tool to reach the next gen of buyers and sellers,” she explains. Her advice to new agents is simple but vital: “Answer your phone. Connect and collaborate with the agent on the other side.”

That collaborative spirit is at the heart of Alison’s approach to every deal. It’s why other agents call her when they need a sounding board or a partner to navigate a complex negotiation. “We’re not supposed to be islands,” she says. “We get further when we work together.”

She’s also proof that it’s possible to build a strong business while staying true to who you are. In a field where big teams are often celebrated, Alison operates as an individual agent and still consistently ranks among the best. Her accolades include being named to MetroTex 40 Under 40, D Magazine’s D Best, and Top Realtor by both Plano Magazine and Fort Worth Magazine.

When she’s not working deals, Alison finds joy in quieter pursuits—genealogy and sewing. “I actually have a BFA in fashion design,” she shares with a laugh. “But I didn’t want to be a starving artist.”

Though she once dreamed of making it in New York’s fashion scene, her journey led her back home—and back to real estate.

Home, in fact, is still at the center of her story. Alison and her husband recently bought a house in her parents’ neighborhood. “It’s just the two of us— while not very exciting to some, it means the world to be near family.”

And while she might joke about her unassuming family life, Alison has goals that reflect big ambition.

“This year, I want to sell 30+ units and end with over $15 million in sales. I’m also hoping to bring on three more agents to Scout.” She’s not just building her own legacy—she’s opening doors for others to do the same.

When asked what she wants to be remembered for, her answer is immediate: “Being kind and approachable.” And maybe also for one quirky fact— “I was a child golf prodigy, but I don’t play regularly anymore. And I love hot dogs,” she adds with a grin.

Alison also holds tight to a piece of advice that shaped her early work ethic: “Good things come to those who wait—but they’re usually the leftovers from those who hustle.” It was a mantra instilled in her by Darwin Deason, the CEO of Affiliated Computer Services, whom she met in middle school—he was her mom’s boss. “He used to hand out hustle cards. I’ve never forgotten it.”

In a market like DFW, where growth is accelerating and competition is fierce, Alison’s philosophy remains rooted in relationships. “Buy and hold,” she says with conviction. “We won’t be the cheapest major metro forever. The time is now.”

And if you happen to be a buyer, seller, or fellow agent—just know, when you call Alison Houpt, she will always pick up the phone.

Real Producers FAQ

Real Producers Magazine is a national franchise that started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 130 markets across the nation and continues to spread rapidly. DFW has four Real Producers Communities: North Dallas, Dallas, North Fort Worth, and Fort Worth Real Producers.

Q: How do you become a Real Producers Top Agent?

A: In all of DFW, there are roughly 60,000 licensed agents, meaning there are ~15,000 agents in each of our four communities. We rank all those agents based on their yearly MLS sales volume. In years past, we congratulated the Top 500 Agents, and we still are, but in 2025, we are adding a second group to the community… the RP Top 1000! These agents are in the top 6%.

Q: Who receives Real Producers Magazine?

A: The Top 1000 agents in each community will receive the digital magazine for the year. The Top 500 agents will also receive the magazine physically in their mailboxes. Our RP Vetted Businesses also receive the magazine physically and digitally.

Q: Does Real Producers host events?

A: Yes, we host many different events throughout the year! Some large 400-800 people and some 75-250 people. We do Social Events, an Awards Gala, and Masterclass Events. You can see quick recaps of some of our events under the “Events” tab on our website.

Q: Who are the RP Vetted Businesses?

A: They are some of the best businesses in DFW in their category! You can find them listed in our index and their ad in the magazine. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. Each business has been recommended by your peers, the top-producing real estate agents in the market. Our team will further vet every business to make sure they are a good fit and bring value to our community. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best real estate agents in the area but for the best businesses, as well, so we can grow stronger together.
