CONGRATS AND WELCOME, 2023 TOP 500 AGENTS!

If you are reading this, then you should give yourself a big pat on the back! That means you have made the Real Producers Top 500 list for 2023! CONGRATS! Each of you should have received a text and email from us with some important information, along with your Real Producers DFW Top Agent badge for 2023. If you didn’t receive that, be sure to reach out and let us know.

For some of you, this is the first time you are receiving this publication, and you may not know entirely what it is all about yet. Others of you have been a part of the Real Producers community every month since 2018. Either way, you will want to tune in to the rest of this publisher’s note because I am going to give you a bit of a recap on what we’re all about, as well as fill you in on some new and exciting changes that are coming to Real Producers in 2023.

First, you are receiving this magazine because you are a top 500-producing real estate agent (based on your annual residential MLS production numbers) in your given area! That means that you will receive this publication, which is exclusive to the highest-producing agents in the market, every single month for the next 12 months. Consider it a badge of honor!

Being in the top 500, you also have the opportunity to be featured in our publication to share your story, and the beautiful thing is, there is no cost to you. It is a testament to you and your hard work! It is important to note that Real Producers is not a brag book. To be in the top 1-2% in your field takes a lot of grit, passion, hard work, trials, tribulations, and a strong “why” to keep pushing on.

Real Producers is about sharing and honoring those stories and humanizing you and your peers to create a culture of honor and collaboration that propels us all to the next level. We certainly cannot guarantee a feature, but if you would like to be considered for one, here are a few quick tips to increase your chances: meet up with a member of our team, support Real Producers, and attend our private events when you can. If that doesn’t work for you, we also accept large sums of money. Kidding! No agent can buy their way into Real Producers. Your support means the world to us.

All of the businesses that are a part of Real Producers have been recommended by top-producing agents and vetted by us. They are our Real Producers Vetted Businesses, and this community could not be possible without them! If you are looking for some of the best businesses in the market to work with, look no further than here. When you meet one, be sure to thank them for supporting and investing in you.

There are four Real Producers’ markets in DFW: North Dallas, Dallas, North Fort Worth, and Fort Worth Real Producers. With approximately 60,000 licensed real estate agents in DFW, Real Producers collectively brings together the top 2,000 producing real estate agents and vetted businesses! Huge congrats to each and every one of you. Be sure to reference the DFW Map and FAQ page in this publication for more details: www.dfwrealproducers.com is a great resource for information, as well!

NEVER GIVE UP rising star

“I never give up,” Brooke Finnigan begins. “Even when things are tough.”

During her first year selling real estate, Brooke Finnigan closed two transactions. One was for the sale of her family’s home, and the second was for the purchase of their new home. It was a challeng ing year for Brooke, causing her to doubt her choice to move into the real estate business. But Brooke didn’t give up. She called upon her well of resilience, continued working hard day after day, and found a way to succeed.

That success culminated in over $25 million in closed sales in 2022, a personal best for Brooke. The future looks even brighter.

The Road to Real Estate Brooke spent most of her life in Chicago, where she built a successful career as an esthetician. She loved her career, spending 14 years total in the field.

Brooke’s husband, Dave, worked in advertising, and his territory was in Texas. For three years, the couple considered a move, but Dave waffled. Finally, in 2015, the couple took a weekend trip to Dallas to explore the possibility of relocating. They bought a home that weekend.

“I said, ‘Let’s try it for a year, and if we don’t love it, we come back,’” Brooke reflects. “In the end, it was the best decision we’ve made for our family. It’s been great for his career, it’s been great for

me to start a new career, and we have more time together as a family. I never thought I’d leave Chicago, but this is home.”

Upon landing in Dallas, Brooke took on part-time esthetics work while preparing to give birth to her third child. Meanwhile, she and Dave had flipped some homes back in Chicago and began talking about doing the same in Texas. So Brooke got her license, intending to use it for personal investments.

Brooke and Dave’s plans to flip homes in Dallas got waylaid, but Brooke decided to put her real estate license to work and begin a new career.

Finding Her Home

Brooke joined a large brokerage, was assigned a mentor, and began her career. However, she didn’t know where to start and didn’t have the support she needed. She floundered for months before changing brokerages and joining JonesPapadopoulos & Co.

“I was really considering giving up. I’m a go-getter, and usually, I succeed at whatever I put my mind to. But that first year, I felt I was not succeeding in this new career path. Things finally changed when I joined this brokerage. I received so much support from the owners. They gave me the support and confidence I needed.”

Over the next four years, Brooke’s career took off. She’s become the top REALTOR® in her neighborhood, Windsong Ranch, and has been named a Top Residential Real Estate Producer by D Magazine for four years running.

North Dallas Real Producers • 21 realproducersmag.com

So how has Brooke turned it around and achieved so much success? She credits it to the support she’s received at JonesPapadopoulos & Co., her perseverance through hard times, and her authentic nature. She keeps things genuine, and that’s been a winning strategy for her. Brooke also encourages new agents to align themselves with a strong, producing mentor. She knows from personal experience how important it is to have guidance and structure.

“At my first brokerage, I had a mentor taking a percentage of my commission, but I never saw that person producing. I needed a mentor that was producing. I needed direction and guidance,” Brooke explains. “Really make sure you are getting the mentorship when you join a brokerage. People get concerned about commission structure, but as a new agent, you need the support. Having a good mentor is important.”

A Full Life

While Brooke has become a highly successful REALTOR®, it’s not the only thing she’s passion ate about. She also runs a suc cessful makeup business, leading a team of over 400 women. This allows her to stay in the beauty industry, a world she still enjoys.

Brooke and her husband, Dave, have been together for 23 years and have three kids, Ava (13), Nicky (11) and Joey (6). Dave was also recently licensed in real estate; he assists Brooke as operations manager.

Brooke and her family have now been in Dallas for nearly a decade. While they initially hesitated to pick up their lives and move a thousand miles south, they couldn’t be happier with their choice. They’ve settled into their forever home in Prosper, have built a new community, and are excited for what the future holds.

If you haven’t met Kyle Karker at a Real Producers event yet, then you haven’t been to a Real Real Producers event. Kyle is always described as the life of the party, the bold guy in the property management wizard shirt, or the last one there because he can’t seem to leave until he has met every single person.

And it’s not for the sake of just trying to gain business — it’s real. Kyle Karker and Scotty Mitchell co-founded American Real PM in 2017 with the goal of bringing a new attitude to the property management field. And over the last couple of years, they have developed some impactful core values that anyone can take inspiration from.

“Our values really guide the way that we work with those around us. They describe the way we really strive to

go beyond and provide a unique edge for our partners and their clients,” he says.

“They include first, being unapologetically real; second, working with unshakable trust; third, moving to create daily growth; and fourth, providing elite expertise.”

UNAPOLOGETICALLY REAL

As Kyle says, “This value is about working with a sense of ease and freedom, as well as alignment and attraction. We have fun every day, we accept and celebrate who each other is, and we inspire and empower people.”

UNSHAKABLE TRUST

The outcome that Kyle and his team strive for is for people to be confident in the fact that they can rely on American Real PM.

“With that in mind, we do what we say … when we say we’re going to do it,” Kyle points out. “We also take time to understand and to show that we care. Plus, we communicate consistently, respond promptly, and we are accountable to ourselves and each other.”

DAILY GROWTH

This value is focused on the fact that doing your best makes everyone better and more successful.

“As we say it, a better you makes a better us,” Kyle emphasizes. “We measure progress and celebrate wins together. We also know that small actions, plus consistency over time, equals powerful improvement. We work with a sense of persistence, and we see no limits. Along the way, we tie that all together by encouraging each other.”

“I started in real estate in New York City in 2005. In the process, I worked for 13 years selling and renting places, eventually starting my own brokerage in 2014 before coming to Dallas,” Kyle explains.

“I understand the business deeply. We’re not here to sell houses. Our main focus is to protect the relationships that agents have with their clients. Our role is to manage these properties in between the transactions. We work to help them do more deals because we believe that if a client has a really good property management experience, more houses will be sold.”

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Those who work with Kyle experience a fun, fresh approach to property management — and business development.

“We focus on excellence. Also, since we manage so much property, the owner naturally comes to us to sell a house we manage. We refer those deals to preferred partners, or whoever it was that referred the deal in the first place, and we guarantee the commission if we don’t,” he says.

“Those deals get referred to our preferred partners. Plus, we also have an active real estate investor database of more than 30,000 people that was built over a number of years. We’re going to

start to market sales to these investors. We aren’t going to write those deals. Again, these will be referrals to

GINGER

cover story

Rooted in Faith and Family

“It’s all about my faith and my family.”

2005. After raising two healthy, vibrant young boys, Ginger Weeks assumed she was done having children, but God had other plans for her and her future. Thankfully, Ginger had the faith and the openness to listen.

“Life was great, but something was missing,” she reflects. “My boys were in junior high and high school, so we thought we were done having children, but the Lord put it on my heart that we were going to adopt. My husband said we were done as well, but I said we needed to pray about this. I knew this was something the Lord was calling us to do.”

After many prayers, Ginger and her husband received confirmation in their hearts: They were going to adopt a little girl from China. Five and a half years later, their prayers were answered when they brought their baby girl, Gracie Lou Weeks, home.

“She’s a delight and blessing from the Lord,” Ginger smiles.

The story of Ginger adopting her daughter exemplifies Ginger’s deep commitment to her faith and her family. Faith and family drive her daily.

“My faith is the core of my life, personally and in business. When you meet me, you know exactly who I am, what I stand for, and what I believe. My faith is a huge part of who I am,” Ginger says. “And my family — my family is everything to me.”

Country Roots

Ginger was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas. She grew up in the country, riding horses with friends and visiting her extended family’s dairy farm.

“I’m so much a country girl and love the beauty and peacefulness I am blessed to experience. That’s who I am,” she says.

Ginger eventually met her husband, Robert, who is from Texarkana, AR. The couple both worked full-time jobs for the local school district before relocating to McKinney to start a homebuilding business in 2002.

All For Family

Faith and family remain at the center of Ginger’s world. She and her husband, Robert, live on a ranch in Whitesboro, where they raise quarter horses for the discipline of reining. Their sons, Drew and Dustin, are now 33 and 30 with families of their own and have blessed Ginger with five (soon to be six) grandchildren. Ginger’s daughter, Gracie, is now 13. She shows their reining horses, a monthly part of family time. Ginger still enjoys riding horses and is training to show herself. She is active at her church, Prestonwood Baptist Church Prosper campus, and sits on the school board at Prestonwood Christian Academy North, where Gracie attends school.

“We worked for the school system for many years, but we’ve always been entrepreneurial,” Ginger says. “We wanted to venture out on our own, so we partnered with some guys here in the Metroplex to form a small residential construction company, building residential homes in DFW.”

A year later, Ginger got her real estate license so she could sit in model homes for builders. Three years later, she decided to go full time in real estate.

The Arc of Success

Over the next decade, Ginger steadily built her real estate

business. She survived the Great Recession in 2008 and thrived in the years following. In 2016, she and husband Robert partnered with RE/MAX and purchased two franchises — one in McKinney and one in Anna. They owned, managed, and led those two franchises for seven years.

In 2022, Ginger took the next step in the evolution of her career, merging with RE/MAX DFW Associates and stepping down from an ownership position. She intends to continue mentoring agents while devoting more time to growing her personal sales business.

Fun fact

Growing up in Texarkana, Texas, Ginger’s parents often told her, “Nothing good comes from Texarkana, AR.” Ironically, Ginger’s husband, Robert, was born and raised on the Arkansas side of town. “Clearly, something good does come from Arkansas,” Ginger laughs.

“It was time to focus more on my real estate business,” Ginger says. “It’s a broader network. It gives us more opportunity.”

As an owner, Ginger loved guiding new agents to success. She believes that to maintain quality service throughout the industry, a seasoned agent like herself has the responsibility to help develop agents. Watching her agents succeed was her greatest pleasure in business.

Still, Ginger understands the time has come for her next transition. In a shifting market and with her business again in transition, she’s excited about the new challenge ahead.

“I’m really excited about being able to grow my business more. I’m all about personal care and attention. I meet people at their point of real estate needs and walk them through that season of their life. For me, it’s not about the deal; it’s about the people.”

Semper Fi Semper Fi Home Inspections

ALWAYS FAITHFUL

“Our motto is ‘Always faithful,’” Semper Fi owner Danny Smith begins.

After spending 20 years in the Marine Corps, Danny founded Semper Fi Home Inspections in 2010. Danny brings the technical prowess of a jet engine inspector, the commitment and integrity of a Marine, and the heart of a family man to his work. Everything he does is built on his values — God,

country, family and service. It’s no wonder he chose the name Semper Fi to represent his brand.

Semper Fidelis is a Latin phrase meaning “Always faithful.” The United States Marine Corps has adopted the phrase as a motto, and Marines often shorten it to Semper Fi.

“We are always faithful,” Danny explains, “to our customers, to our partners, to our families, and to our

values. We go above and beyond what they might expect. Our team is faithful throughout our relationship with our REALTORS® and partners. We want to grow deep, lasting friendships.”

Since founding Semper Fi Home Inspections, Danny has grown the company to a team of eight — five inspectors alongside the leadership

team, comprised of Owner/President

Danny Smith, Growth Manager

“We are a company that agents can count on,” Tawnya explains. “Our inspectors will arrive on time, the reports will be concise and delivered the same day, and our inspectors have professional, kind manners.”

Meet the Team: Danny Smith, Owner/President

Danny spent 20 years in the Marines as a jet engine mechanic, inspector,

production controller and U.S. Embassy Marine security guard detachment commander. After retiring, he took his mechanical expertise to the home inspection world.

“I took those inspection skills, and that helped me develop the way we do business,” Danny explains. “And I took values from the Marines and my faith. We live by the golden rule: ‘Treat others as you’d want to be treated.’ Always be faithful. I enjoy helping people and bringing integrity and trustworthiness — that’s what keeps me going.”

Danny has found his place as a small business owner. He provides inspections with integrity — something that sounds basic enough but can be hard to come by. This has allowed him to carve out a niche in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Outside of work, Danny’s life is centered on God and family. He and his wife, Marla, have four children, Nolan (29), Derek (27), Clara (17) and Linnea (14), and four grandchildren. Nolan, Derek and Derek’s wife, Hattie, are all Marines.

Danny met Matthew through church. Before they ever worked together, they shared a community and played ultimate Frisbee. Matthew’s go-getter attitude stood out to Danny on the Frisbee field, so when Danny had the chance to bring him on board the team, he did. After a year as the company’s growth manager, Matthew took over the role of operations manager.

LOOKING AHEAD

Matthew is spearheading the expansion of Semper Fi’s Commercial Inspection Division, which will launch in early 2023.

“I’m big into numbers, trying to do my best to give Danny and Tawnya numbers that help them make decisions,” Matthew explains. “And I enjoy the inspection process. Being able to support our inspectors, clients and agents, giving them an opportunity to go out and inspect and do what they are best at, not having to worry about the background stuff — that’s my role.”

Outside work, Matthew is a family man and devoted to his faith. He and his wife, Nikki, have four children, Mathias (6), Manny (5), Naomi (2) and Montgomery (1).

Tawnya Brigandi, Growth Manager Tawnya joined the Semper Fi team in January 2022. She

comes from a business development background, having managed the marketing efforts for an interior design company that worked closely with REALTORS®, lenders, and homeowners.

Tawnya brings a love for connecting with people, a servant’s heart, and a dedication to integrity. She’s a giver by nature.

“I’m a people person. I love building relationships and helping people. My love language is doing something for someone else. I love seeing others happy,” Tawnya smiles.

Tawnya has a big family; her twins, Zachary and Vincent,

are 24; her son Adam is 21; and her youngest, Anthony, is 18. Her family is rounded out by Brandon, 22, who has been adopted into her family; her daughters-in-law, Ali and Miranda; and her first grandson, William Connor.

Looking Toward the Future

As Danny, Matthew, Tawnya, and the Semper Fi team look ahead, they are aware the real estate market is shifting, but they don’t envision slowing their growth. With a focus on service and a commitment to faith, they are sure to grow their work family in the years to come.

“We’re excited about the future. We are a stable company in DFW that agents can rely on,” Danny concludes.

WHY ARE HEADQUARTERS MOVING TO NORTH TEXAS?

Texas is home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other state. Forbes magazine reports that in 2021, some 62 companies relocated their HQs to Texas from 17 states and three countries, and many chose North Texas to call home.

What follows large corporations? More businesses.

On a recent episode of Welcome to the Top Bill Cox, CCAR 2022 REALTOR® of the year and principal in McKinney-based Carey Cox Company, a commercial real estate firm specializing in McKinney and Collin County, explained:

“There are the Toyotas, the Boeings, the State Farms. But you also have ancillary companies moving their headquarters to North Texas to service those larger corporations, some of those that you may not have heard of. Those that provide backup help and provide ancillary services for the bigger companies. [Companies with] 20 to 50 employees and 50 to 100 employees that have a pay scale of $60,000 to $90,000.

The Metroplex is getting smaller. There was a time when from

McKinney to Dallas, there weren’t many streetlights. Now you’re in the Metroplex … and Grayson County, the southern part of Grayson County, is now part of the Metroplex. And that’s happened within the last 10 years.”

Cox attributes the area’s commercial growth to several factors, the leading of which is the area’s educated workforce.

“The ability to hire employees is key in relocating companies from other parts of the country, both East and West Coast. We are very blessed to be where we are and to have the employment base that we have.

“Education is another important conversation we have when talking with companies considering North Texas to relocate. It’s important to have an educated workforce. And we’re very blessed to have institutions in our area that fulfill that need.”

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon echoed that sentiment to hundreds of members of the Dallas Citizens Council, saying, “One of the things that makes Texas so incredible is you have an incredible secondary education system here, both public and private,” Solomon said.

“It creates an enormous pipeline of talented young individuals. People come down here to go to school, and they actually want to stay.”[1]

Location is another factor that attracts businesses to North Texas. Not only is the cost of living, quality of life and the top-rated public school system enough to make the educated workforce stick around, North Texas’ location is also ideal for both national and international

travel. “We’re in the middle part of the country, easily accessible from both coasts,” said Cox.

Corporations and employees enjoy the reduced crime and increased personal safety our communities offer. A recent Goodhire study used FBI data to “assess property, violent and societal crimes and looked at each city by the rate of offenses per year. The study assigned a total rank that looked at crimes against persons and crimes against property at 40% and crimes against society at 20%. Background checks were also used to analyze the cities.”[2]

On the Goodhire list of safest cities, McKinney was ranked the second safest city in America, and Frisco was ranked fourth.

What is ahead?

“As long as companies are able to hire employees and to move to the area, that appeal will be there to locate in North Texas.” When asked about the future, Cox comments that we may see a slowdown but not a stoppage of growth. “The momentum we have for new job creation was really strong right now, stronger than probably anywhere in the country.”

BENTINCK DAVID

BENTINCK

Leveling Up

“I believe if you learn to fall in love with the process and not the final destination, the person you become is even more important than the goal itself. I’m enjoying the process of who I’m becoming.”

Real estate has been at the forefront of David Bentinck’s mind since he was a teenager. He became captivated by self-development books and podcasts, with real estate giants like Gary Vaynerchuk and Grant Cardone inspiring him to think about building wealth through real estate before graduating high school.

“Real estate spoke to me,” David says. “It spoke to my soul.”

Still, David followed a traditional path for some time. He headed to college, where he struggled to choose a field of study that he connected with. Eventually, he dropped out, not seeing much value in continuing his education.

“I ended up leaving the university, and real estate was always there. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain,” David says.

In January 2017, David began his real estate journey.

Early Struggles

David was hungry for success, but he was also young and inexperienced.

“Those first few years, I had a full-ride tuition to the school of hard knocks. I almost became another statistic — the 80% of real estate agents who fail their first year,” David reflects.

David struggled to find success, but he continued to work at it. After several months with no traction, he connected with his eventual mentor and current team leader, Nick Good. Nick took David under his wing, teaching him the daily tasks necessary to get a real estate business off the ground.

rise & grind
Photos by: Cruz Acevedo, StudioUSA

“It was about structure. I didn’t have the structure of what to do as an agent. I didn’t have the structure on how to lead generate, how to go after business, how to run appointments, or how to do a listing presentation. When I sought mentorship, Nick taught me what I needed to do on a daily basis. I had a schedule, and I just followed it to a T. I became a sponge. I believe the shortcut to success is modeling successful people.”

Gaining Steam

In year three, David’s business began to take off. All the hard work he’d done on his mindset had helped him get through the challenges of those first years. Finally, he was prepared to take flight.

“I believe that everything you do sets you up for the next chapter,” David says. “I developed a different kind of mindset, and that was vital to get me through the valleys and hills this journey can bring. And then in year three, it all clicked.”

David has made a name for himself as one of North Dallas’ most dedicated agents. He is determined to improve the reputation people hold of agents by providing high-touch, high-ethics service. He’s obsessed with making the client experience easeful and enjoyable. His standards are sky-high, and he goes out of his way to do whatever it takes for his clients.

“Nothing was ever given to me on a silver platter. My mom came from Mexico and worked two jobs while going to college to provide us with a decent life. My dad also worked a lot. Their work ethic instilled in me the chance to become a go-getter. I have that

hustle in me to put people first and give them that world-class, white-glove service.”

A Bright Future

Outside of work, you’ll find David exploring the outdoors, going to the gym, or taking an adventure. He loves spontaneous travel; it suits his decisive, instinctive approach to the world.

“I believe in the ‘ready, fire, aim’ mentality. This is what I’m going to do, and I’ll figure everything out later. And 100% of the time, it has worked out for me. I love being spontaneous — exploring a trail, traveling, and

just getting lost. I truly love creating experiences and having a story to tell.”

David also still has a love for self-development books and podcasts. He’s constantly working to level up his mindset.

“I am always looking to scale up as a business owner, spiritually and personally. My passion is becoming a better version of myself.”

ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE FAQ

Real Producers magazine started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 100 markets across the nation and continues to spread rapidly. Real Producers first launched in DFW in August 2018 with North DFW Real Producers (now called “North Dallas”). In May 2019, Dallas Real Producers launched, and then Tarrant Real Producers in March 2021.

In 2022, Tarrant Real Producers split into two publications, North Fort Worth and Fort Worth Real Producers. Fort Worth Real Producers launched in August 2022!

Q: WHO RECEIVES REAL PRODUCERS MAGAZINE?

A: The top 500 real estate agents in each of the four markets in DFW, based on their annual residential sales production for the previous year, as recorded on the MLS. Refer to the map in this publication for the exact territories. If your broker address is within that given territory, and you are in the top 500, you will receive that publication for the year. There are approximately 60,000 licensed real estate agents in DFW. The list will reset at the end of every year and continue to update annually.

Q: WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS MAGAZINE?

A: We believe that we are better together. When we surround ourselves with other successful, like-minded people, we grow to new heights. Real Producers is a platform that brings together the most elite individuals in DFW real estate.

We take the top 500 real estate agents and RP Vetted Businesses in every market, and we build an exclusive community around that group. We share their stories, successes, market trends, and upcoming events

— really, anything that will connect, inform, and inspire, we put in our monthly publication.

Q: DOES REAL PRODUCERS HAVE EVENTS?

A: Yes! Each year we have several events. Some are specific to each territory, and some are shared events for all four DFW Real Producers markets. We have several different types of events, such as magazine celebration events, partners-only events, social events, mastermind/ educational style events, and of course, the annual black-tie awards gala called The ESPE Awards. For these events, we invite the top 500 real estate agents and our RP-vetted businesses. Top 500 agents are allowed to invite members of their team, as well. These events are an incredible opportunity to connect with the best of the best in DFW real estate. It is amazing to see the power in the connections made at these events. Be on the lookout for your exclusive invites!

Q: WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BEING FEATURED IN THIS MAGAZINE?

A: It’s really simple. You have to be on the top 500 list, and we take nominations seriously. You can nominate other real estate agents, businesses, brokers, owners, or even yourself! Office leaders can also nominate real estate agents. We will consider anyone brought to our attention who is in the top 500 because we don’t know everyone’s story, so we need your help to learn about them. We cannot guarantee a feature, but we encourage you to meet with one of our team members, support Real Producers and attend our private events to increase your chances.

You can email your nominations to jordan.espeseth@n2co.com.

Q: WHAT DOES IT COST A REAL

ESTATE AGENT/TEAM

TO BE FEATURED?

A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. It costs nothing, my friends, so nominate away! We are not a pay-to-play model. We share real stories of Real Producers.

Q: WHO ARE THE RPVETTED BUSINESSES?

A: They are one of the best businesses in DFW in their category, and you can find them listed in our index! We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. One of many of the top real estate agents has recommended every single business you see in this publication. We won’t even meet with a business that has not been vetted by one of you and “stamped for approval,” in a sense. Our team will further vet every business to make sure they are a good fit and bring value to our community. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best real estate agents in the area but for the best businesses, as well, so we can grow stronger together. When you meet one of them, be sure to thank them for their continued support and for investing in you and your growth.

Q: HOW CAN I RECOMMEND A BUSINESS?

A: If you know and want to recommend a business that works with top real estate agents, please email us to let us know at jordan.espeseth@n2co.com.

SHELLEY

celebrating leaders

Before becoming a REALTOR®, Shelley Wang worked as a bakery manager at her local Kroger. Her husband, Corey, traveled for work, often leaving Shelley to juggle her job and the care of their two young children.

In 2010, the challenge came to a head when a snowstorm struck Texas. Most of Shelley’s friends had the chance to stay home with their kids, but not Shelley. She drove to Kroger in the snow, leaving her kids at home. It was then that she realized something had to change.

“After careful consideration, in April, I quit that job. I didn’t want to do it anymore. I needed more time with my kids,” Shelley reflects.

Shelley isn’t one to stay idle long. After a month, she began looking for her next professional opportunity. A neighbor and friend was a successful REALTOR®, and he encouraged Shelley to get her license. Shelley hesitated and wavered but ultimately decided to give it a try.

THE PATH TO LEADERSHIP

Written by: Zach Cohen Photos by: Scott Peek Photography LLC

“I immigrated to America in 2003, so I was worried about my English, and I was worried where I would find my clients,” Shelley reflects honestly. “He had a showing with a Chinese client, and he asked me to go with him. I realized I really liked it. I enjoyed talking to people and showing them houses, so I decided to get my license.”

From the Ground Up Shelley immigrated to the U.S. in 2003 from her hometown of Tianjin, China, the third biggest city in China. She had met her husband, Corey, through work, and the couple came to Dallas, Corey’s hometown, three years after getting married. By the time Shelley

started her real estate career in 2010, she only had a small circle of friends, but that didn’t prevent her from succeeding. She met her first client at church, and her business was off the ground.

“I started from there. Several other friends from church introduced me to friends, and in my first year, I sold seven houses. Lots of people were saying real estate agents average seven houses. I was happy and grateful to make that mark,” Shelley recalls.

In the following years, Shelley’s business grew steadily. She developed a strong reputation with the Chinese community for her hard work, tenacity, and attention to detail.

Becoming a Leader

Over the years, Shelley worked for several different brokerages, some of them small brokerages that serve the Chinese community. She enjoyed her experiences in these offices but felt their training and agent development programs were lacking. So, in 2018, she joined forces with fellow agent Teresa Tong to form the brokerage Tong-Parsons Realty. In 2019, they brought on partner John Terrell, the former mayor of South Lake, to become Tong-Parsons-Terrell Realty.

Today, the brokerage has over 80 agents. They focus on selling to the Chinese community, but not exclusively. In 2021, the brokerage closed $130 million, and they are tracking to close $160 million in 2022. Teresa, the broker, handles recruiting and accounting. Shelley spearheads the brokerage’s training programs. Both still actively sell real estate.

One of Shelley’s main objectives is to ensure her agents are adequately trained. She offers weekly training and continual support, making the process of building a business more streamlined and effective.

“We welcome any agents to join,” Shelley says. “We do really good training. The hard part is starting a business, so I help my agents with what they need to know to start the business. There are no office fees, 90/10 splits.”

Growth Minded

As Shelley looks ahead, she hopes to continue growing Tong-ParsonsTerrell Realty. Her goal is to reach 120 agents by the end of 2023 and eventually have 200 agents.

Outside real estate, Shelley enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her friends. She and her husband, Corey, have two sons, Michael (21) and Mason (15).

“I’m most grateful for my family and my partner. My husband is so supportive. He takes on a lot of the home chores and helps out, and my partner Teresa is great. We know each other for a long time, from the same city in China. We just get along really well. We 100% trust each other and support each other.”
