On April 9th, the day after the solar eclipse, I walked into the house after coming home from a video shoot. Our puppy, Bear, whom we rescued one week earlier, jumped up on me and peed all over the floor in excitement. As I walked from the entry of the house to the kitchen, I noticed that Jess was playing music, and the song that was playing was “our song,” which is “Biblical” by Calum Scott.

I entered the kitchen and saw Jess covering her face, which looked like she had been crying. “What’s the matter?” I said to her with great concern. She didn’t say a word; she just looked down. I didn’t even realize that she had boy/girl balloons, a diaper, a baby onesie, and a positive pregnancy test lying on the counter right in front of me. I guess I’m your stereotypical dude who can’t seem to see things that are right in plain sight. I’ll look in the fridge to find the ketchup, search all over with zero success, call for Jess’s help, and within two seconds, she will pluck the ketchup bottle out of the fridge. I think this is common among males, and I now refer to it as “man eyes.” Nevertheless, I digress.

“You’re lying,” I said. “No, you’re lying,” I repeated with a crack in my voice. Jess and I had been trying for seven months. I know seven months isn’t a super long

time, but when it comes to getting pregnant, it sure seems like it when you so badly want to be parents! Plus, everyone around us seemed to be getting pregnant, most seemingly with ease. Our best friends went on their honeymoon and basically came back pregnant.

“You’re going to be a daddy!” Jess said to me after a long, tear-filled embrace. At that moment, it hit me. “Oh, that is right! You being pregnant means I am going to be a dad!” I thought to myself. I laugh when I think back on that moment. I obviously truly knew that’s what it meant, but I didn’t internalize it until she said that.

A few weeks later, we took the “Sneak Peek” test and discovered we were having a girl! Her due date is December 23, 2024. A Christmas baby! If anyone has had Christmastime babies and has successfully navigated gifts/ parties during the holiday…we welcome your advice!

God answered a massive prayer for us and we are so incredibly grateful. The Espeseth family is growing! I wonder if she will be a REALTOR® one day...stay tuned!

JASON CECH

FROM RETAIL TO REAL ESTATE

Jason Cech’s journey from a humble upbringing to becoming a lead agent, broker associate, and now team owner within Fathom Realty is a testament to the power of perseverance, kindness, and adaptability. Formerly a leader within Potts Realty Group Team in Cleburne, Jason now owns Texan Heritage Realty Group. His story is one of constant evolution, driven by a passion for helping others and a deeprooted belief in the importance of community.

Growing up, Jason’s life was marked by frequent moves due to his parents’ jobs. “I estimate that we moved 8+ times by the time I graduated high school,” Jason recalls. This nomadic lifestyle made it challenging to settle in and form lasting connections. Despite these challenges, Jason excelled academically, graduating in the top 10% of his class from a small high school in Eustace, Texas.

After high school, Jason attended Trinity Valley Community College before transferring to Tarleton State University. Originally set on a pre-med track, Jason’s career path took a turn when he discovered his passion for business while working at a Sears Hometown Store. “I knew that the medical field wasn’t for me, and that I really loved retail, customer service, and business in general,” he says. This epiphany led him to switch majors and earn a BBA in 2002.

Jason’s professional journey began with Sears Holdings, where he held various roles, from a transition specialist traveling across the country to a district director in the Houston area, overseeing 10 stores across southeast Texas and western Louisiana. His ability to manage and improve store operations was evident, but after several years, he felt it was time for a change. The next phase of his career brought him to Cleburne, Texas, where he owned and operated a Sears Hometown Store before joining the nation’s largest Sears Hometown franchisee, overseeing multiple Sears Outlet stores across the DFW & Houston areas.

In 2017, Jason transitioned into real estate, joining Potts Realty Group. His former neighbors, Brannon and Mindy Potts, were instrumental in this career shift. “They were the only ones I thought about when I decided to get into real estate,” Jason reflects. The move

allowed him to leverage his extensive retail experience and focus on what he enjoyed most: working closely with clients and making a tangible impact on their lives.

Jason’s approach to real estate is defined by his kindness and his ability to get things done. “My ability to be kind with everyone I have the pleasure of working with and my experience to get things done are what set me apart,” he states. His dedication to his clients is evident in the lasting relationships he builds, often turning clients into lifelong friends. One particularly memorable client even included him in their will, entrusting him to assist their family in the future—a testament to the deep trust and respect he has earned.

The most rewarding part of Jason’s career is the opportunity to serve and make a difference in people’s lives. “I enjoy the more difficult and challenging situations where we have the opportunity to truly serve our clients and help change their lives,” he says. His passion for helping others extends to his team, where he provides training and support, ensuring that everyone has the tools they need to succeed.

Balancing his professional and personal life is crucial to Jason. Real estate has given him the

flexibility that his previous retail career did not. “Unlike my past career in retail, real estate truly allows me the flexibility to write my own schedule...at least to a point!” he laughs. This flexibility enables him to spend quality time with his wife, Leslie, and their daughter, Mackenzie, who mean the world to him. Jason is also actively involved in community activities such as the Cleburne Lions Club as the 2024-2025 club president and Meals on Wheels. Additionally, the Cech family enjoys spending time at their family ranch in Bandera, which has been in their family since 1890.

For Jason, success is about more than financial gain. “Success is when a past client refers their family and friends to you,” he explains. It’s about the trust and support from clients and the reputation he has built within the real estate and local communities. This philosophy has driven him to always prioritize client satisfaction and maintain strong, positive relationships.

Jason’s journey has not been without challenges. Growing up in a lower-income family and moving frequently shaped his resilience and work ethic. “At the end of the day, this made me who I am today, and I thank God for that,” he says. His faith has been a guiding force, helping him navigate the ups and downs of life and career. “Real estate is a mission

MOODY

The Road Less Traveled TYLER

Tyler Moody’s path to becoming a distinguished real estate agent is a testament to his unique approach and unwavering determination. As a lifelong resident of Arlington, Texas, Tyler’s roots run deep. His journey, from his days at Kennedale High School to graduating with Cum laude distinction from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, set the stage for an eight-year career that defies conventional wisdom.

Before venturing into real estate in 2016, Tyler had an eclectic mix of experiences. “I talked trash for a living,” he chuckles, referring to his stint at a recycling company. This job, coupled with his time selling cars at a customer service-centric dealership, honed his ability to handle tense situations and connect with people facing financial hardships. His early career even included a role in public relations for a county judge, which taught him the intricacies of navigating public perception and communication.

When Tyler embarked on his real estate journey, he was met with a barrage of advice that he promptly decided to ignore. “I was told you have to be on a team to be successful. You have to have a large sphere of influence. You have to get a coach. You have to stay away from online aggregator sources,” he recalls. “I haven’t followed the traditional playbook and instead have written my own.” Tyler’s approach was to carve his own path, driven by a focus on process over destination.

This approach has not only brought Tyler success but also recognition. In just 8 years, he has sold over 200 homes with $50 million in career volume. As a solo agent, Tyler has achieved the RE/MAX Hall of Fame designation within just 5 years. Other accolades include earning the RE/MAX Rising Star of Texas Award, RE/MAX Top 500 Producer, and securing the position of top individual producer within his office multiple times.Notably, he also serves as the chair of the Leasing and Property Management Committee at the Arlington Board of REALTORS®.

Despite his professional achievements, Tyler remains grounded in his community. His philanthropic efforts are a testament to his character. Whether assisting his father with Meals on Wheels or participating in community service projects to improve residents’ homes, Tyler’s dedication to giving back is unwavering. “I’ve in tandem been able to operate providing top-tier representation for my clients and real estate excellence,” he says. “As soon as I was eligible to obtain my Broker’s license, I achieved that status (which less than 5% of agents hold title).”

Tyler’s passion for his work is palpable. He thrives on the ever-changing landscape of real estate, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and flexible.

“Opportunities in the real estate landscape and staying informed on how to stay flexible keep me locked in,” he notes. Unlike many in the business, Tyler does not set goals.

Written by: Katherine H. Fondren
Photos by: Katharine Gann, DayDream Photography

Instead, he focuses on the process and the little things that add up over time. “Consistency is key and that builds with each day trying to get better than I was the day prior,” he adds. “As Atomic Habits eloquently states: ‘If you can get 1% better each day for one year, you’ll end up 37x better by the time you’re done.’ It’s all about emphasizing the transformative potential of incremental and consistent improvements.”

Tyler’s unique style and approach set him apart from other agents. He dresses casually, relates to individuals across generations, and is relentless in ensuring his clients. “I did it my way,” encapsulates his career ethos. This philosophy extends to his advice for up-and-coming real estate professionals: “Treat gaining more knowledge of your craft to be just as important as gaining more clients.”

In his spare time, Tyler is a self-professed podcast junkie, absorbing insights from various real estate

podcasts like HousingWire, Industry Relations, and Real Estate Insiders Unfiltered. His love for the DallasFort Worth area is evident in his enthusiasm for its sports teams and his optimistic outlook on its growth. “Ready for all of our local teams to bring home some more championships to continue to place Arlington among the top destinations for future home buyers,” he says with a smile.

Tyler is an extremely loyal individual and knows that it takes a village to be successful in this business. From day one of entering real estate, he has had an amazing supporting cast. A topnotch lender, mentor, broker, office manager, vendors, and his fiancée, Lilibeth Olvera, whom he met at a vendor expo at his board. His parents have always been supportive of his endeavors, as well, and are never shy to hand out one of his business cards if within an earshot of someone mentioning real estate. “I’ve been blessed with a mix of my father’s work ethic and my mother’s charisma,” Tyler says.

Tyler Moody’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to both his clients and being the best he can be. By forging his own path and staying true to his principles, Tyler has not only succeeded in real estate but has also made a lasting impact on those around him. His journey is a reminder that sometimes, the road less traveled leads to the most rewarding destinations.

TM is a university graduate with a real estate business acumen beyond most others. He takes a personal interest in each client, treating them as he would want to be treated, whether assisting in the sale, purchase or lease of their home. In 22 years of being in the real estate business myself, Tyler is one of the most knowledgeable and exceptional agents I’ve ever worked with!

BUILDING WITH JOY & GENEROSITY

WE FIND REASONS TO LAUGH A LOT, EVEN WHEN THE SITUATION SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE.

estate all while keeping all The Collective Living transactions on track and smooth for our clients. My son, Brayden, is our sign guy and both our husbands help with open houses and parties. I love having my family so involved” Erin beams.

Erin’s passion for building strong communities is inspiring. Her commitment to “The 013” area goes beyond just selling homes. “We support our local teachers by clearing their Amazon wishlists, participate in National Night Out, Truck or Treat, and gift our neighbors with flags each July 4th,” she shares. Erin’s Bible study group helps her install 800 flags in Pantego each summer, a testament to her hands-on approach to community service.

Her dedication to her clients is equally impressive. Erin takes pride in guiding them through emotionally charged processes, such as selling their parents’ homes, and helping newcomers to the DFW area find their footing. “It’s rewarding to see families thrive because of our hard work and education,” she says. Erin also cherishes the times she’s helped clients avoid financial pitfalls, ensuring their long-term success and stability.

Balancing the demands of real estate with personal life hasn’t always been easy. “For a couple of years, managing my time was a challenge. I wanted to serve as many people as possible without missing out on my kids’ lives,” Erin admits. However, she has learned to adapt and thrive under pressure, always keeping a big-picture view.

Erin’s goals are deeply intertwined with her love for her community. “Real estate allows me to help our community in so many ways,” she explains. She finds joy in

creating systems that minimize stress for her clients, making the home buying and selling process as enjoyable as possible. “We find reasons to laugh a lot, even when the situation seems impossible.”

The most rewarding part of Erin’s career has been the relationships she’s built and the lives she’s touched. From supporting single moms through Embrace Grace to collaborating with small businesses in Pantego, Erin’s impact is far-reaching. “Seeing families’ lives changed through our no-pressure structure is something I’m really proud of,” she says.

As for the future, Erin aims to savor family moments, especially with her son nearing graduation. She’s also focused on delegating more and trusting her well-trained team. “My goal is to ensure everything I say yes to fits my current goals. For an Enneagram 3, busy body like me, slowing down is a real challenge,” she laughs.

Erin’s story is a testament to the power of authenticity and energy. Her advice to up-and-coming REALTORS® is simple yet profound: “Learn to collaborate and trust the process! Consistency and positive energy are key.” And above all, she emphasizes the importance of community service and integrity. “Going to bed knowing you made a difference in someone’s life—that’s success,” she concludes.

For Erin Bergin, real estate is not just a career; it’s a calling to build, support, and uplift her community with joy and generosity. And with every home sold, every family helped, and every flag planted, she continues to make Arlington a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
