LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

The NBCIA team: What does that mean?

O

ver the past two years we talked about being “in this together” on the regular. Everyone was dealing with the “new normal” and finding ways to adapt and mold their business so that they could continue to grow and thrive in the ever-changing world around us. What does it mean to be a part of the NCBIA and “in this together” though? Why are we a part of this association? How can you or your company benefit from being part of the team? Let’s think about this for a second shall we… We have members that have been a part of our association since the late 1970s, and we have members that have just joined us in the past 60 days. Each member plays their own part in helping the NCBIA continue the upward path we are taking. I want you to take a second and think about why are you a member of the NCBIA? Is it for the workers compensation benefits? The Speedway Super Fleet account? Or maybe you joined so that you could network with others in the industry and learn about how you can grow your business. Everyone has their own reasons for joining. The bigger question is why do you continue to be a member? Here is why I do it: I have been an official member of the NCBIA since 2013, but I have been involved with the industry since I was very young. I grew up the daughter of a builder and can remember attending Home-ARamas and project house builds as far back as I can remember. I truly believe that this association has the power to get things done within our industry. Between our local individuals, those working for us at the state level at OHBA and the national level at NAHB we have accomplished so much! Sara Majzun, Majzun Construction Co.

I truly believe that this association has the power to get things done within our industry.

We cannot accomplish any of these goals though if we do not work as a team. It is imperative that our veteran members help grow and guide our newer members not only within the association but within our industry as well. One day we are all going to want to retire and it is important that we groom those individuals to come in and take our places so that the NCBIA can keep doing the work with our initiatives. We want to embrace these new and younger members and hear out their ideas. We have things that we do a certain way because “we have always done it that way” and maybe that way is not the most efficient anymore due to new technology. Personally I DESPISE the phrase “well we have always done it that way” and I have banned it in our board room. I want our new members to feel that they can get involved and that their opinions matter. We need to be constantly open to change in our association as the world around us is always changing as well. In closing I want all of our members to feel they can reach out to myself, the NCBIA staff or any of the board members with a problem they might be experiencing, and we can all work together to help get a solution. We are here to help your business grow and thrive and become everything it can be so please do not ever hesitate to reach out! Even though we are through the pandemic, we are still all "in this together."
