LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

THE PATH Moving Forward We have officially made it through the 1st Quarter of 2021! Which looking back on the last 365 days, is saying a lot! At this time last year there was so much uncertainty in the world around us. There was so much that was unknown and many of us were just trying to make it through each day and keep our businesses moving forward. When it was announced that our industry was deemed essential, many of us gave a small sign of relief. For with that designation we at least knew that we would be able to continue to keep the lights on and food on the table for our families. And then, for most of the businesses in our industry, the calls started coming and they have yet to stop. Businesses are growing and always on the lookout for that next great connection that can help bring their business to the next level. We here at the North Coast Building Industry Association want to help you with that!

Sara Majzun-Garwood, BCT Alarm Services, Inc.

I am so beyond excited to get to celebrate with all of you [on May 8th]! We have a fun-filled night planned that includes a DJ who will have us all dancing the night away! I cannot wait to honor our two Hall of Fame inductees as well as announce our Circle of Excellence winners!

We saw at the “Clash of the Generations” panel discussion that all business owners from all generations are experiencing the same issues across the board. Workforce shortages and long delays on getting materials are just a couple of the concerns that we are all facing. We are all also working together to the best of our abilities to find solutions to these issues. As Tim King and John Toth, our workforce development committee chairs, announced we are rolling out a fantastic partnership with the Lorain County Joint Vocational School. Starting in the fall we will have 20 of our members become mentors for students in the 4 trades schools they have. The trades that we will be working with are Masonry, Carpentry, HVAC, and Electrical. The committee has had some great meetings with Michelle McClintic of the JVS as well as the teachers of these classes and they are very optimistic and excited for this opportunity! More information will be coming out soon but if you are interested in becoming a mentor please reach out to Judie at the NCBIA office and she can get you in touch with John or Tim! I am also very excited that as things are starting to open up we will be getting back to our Member Mixers! These free events are a great way for our members to unwind on a patio at a local bar and get to know each other! We all know from past experiences that more business gets passed at one of these informal get-togethers than anywhere else! Keep watching your eNews for the date and location of one that we are planning for the end of April! Last, but certainly not least, I would be remiss if I did not mention our upcoming Installation, Hall of Fame, and Circle Of Excellence Event on May 8th! I am so beyond excited to get to celebrate with all of you! We have a fun-filled night planned that includes a DJ who will have us all dancing the night away! I cannot wait to honor our two Hall of Fame inductees as well as announce our Circle of Excellence winners! The flyer and amazing sponsorship opportunities can be found on pages 12 and 13 of this Newsletter! I am beyond grateful I get to be your NCBIA president this year and I cannot wait to see what the next quarter brings! #TeamNCBIA
