In nearly half a century TUDOR has left its mark on the history of the chronograph. From the 1970s, sports watch aficionados were won over by the sleek models that have contributed to the reputation of the Swiss brand. With its achievements, by awakening passions and creating watches emblematic of their era, TUDOR has built an exceptional reputation in the world of chronographs: a reputation built on four product families. In 1970, the memorable TUDOR Oysterdate chronograph (Ref. 7031) attracted immediate attention with its pentagonal hour markers and striking grey, black and orange colours. Three years later, a version of the Oysterdate (Ref. 7169) known by collectors as the “Montecarlo”,

featuring a bidirectional bezel in blue anodized aluminium and a grey and blue dial, would make a lasting impression. 1976 saw the launch of the Chrono Time (Ref. 9420/0), TUDOR’s first chronograph with a self-winding mechanical movement; it too was to become a legend. Finally, in 1989 the Prince Oysterdate chronograph (Ref. 79160), also with a self-winding mechanical movement, made a powerful impression with its cream counters on a black dial. Each of these four TUDOR chronograph families has become a classic in its own right; the ongoing interest of collectors the world over is testament to this. In just a few decades, TUDOR has become an integral part of the history of the chronograph.
