od, the Almighty, has created Mothers to fulfil the need of his presence with us at all time. Since he cannot be everywhere, Mothers came into existence. It is no doubt that mothers are selfless, beautiful, and generous creatures that God put into our lives to guide us through our lives with utmost care and love. They sacrifice themselves at every step of their lives to provide us with the tiniest needs. Their sacrifices come in every form and mostly result in our happiness. During such crisis like the second wave of Covid 19, many lives were destroyed. Even in such challenging times, mothers are still always praying for the health of their beloved children. Since mothers are God’s eighth wonder of the world, it is high time that we celebrate them. We salute Motherhood and this May edition is dedicated to Mothers. In this edition, you will enjoy the stories about Mothers like ‘how can you pamper yourself by Satnami Sanyam’, ‘Desert for Mothers’, ‘Exclusive recipes for Mothers’, ‘Fall in Love with yourself’, ‘Habbit of Highly successful people’. We welcome Rajesh Singh, a prominent businessman in Agroforestry, on the cover page of this edition. You can read all about it in the cover story. Hope you will enjoy reading this edition. about your Journey? Well My Journey Started from a small village in a Low income Farmer family, nameHakmahatta, Andar Block under Siwan District from where Dr Rajendra Prasad was 1st President of India. Along with my Basic Study I was very much interested in my farming with my father, I ploughing the land, did all type of farming with a lot of physical work in farming,And animal husbandry. After Completion my 12th from Siwan DAV college,In 26th January 1992 Reached New Delhi capital of India with Our Big Dreams . Here started our further Study with Part Time work ,and Tuitions for full fill our Expenses. My mother always very very much support me to Complete my study and my Dreams. and I have completed My MBA in Finance. Then we started our new journey in multinationals Company in financial Sector insurance and Banking and promoted on Higher post in very short time. But My Dream was very big and always think big. and started research on Agroforestry Teak Species .After 2 years of research, in 2014 I Resigned My Company and planted 2000 plants on 2 hectares land of own village. After this, I Formed my AgroForestry Company Vatican Shona Agrotech Pvt. Ltd. In 2016 and started motivating farmers to plant tissue Culture Teak by forming a company. and till now We have already done more than 25000 HA plantation projects and more than in India and Abroad. And now We are Leader of this industry in India and Expanding in Affrica,Malaysia,Tanzania,SriLanka,Nepal and many more countries. Q 5 What are the challenges you must have faced for this project? And how you overcome? Many challenges facing agroforestry in India that impede the sector’s growth. These include a lack of uniformity in policies and regulations relating to felling and transporting April-May 2021

farm-grown timber and other products in different states. Agroforestry ventures are not covered under agricultural insurance schemes or entitled to marketing support, and cannot access the soft bank loans available for crop farming. A national agroforestry policy is currently being developed whish should address many of these issues 11

and hopefully “optimize exploitation of the massive socio-economic and environmental potential of agroforestry”. AGROFORESTRY - Tissue Culture Teak/ Sagwan Farming with intercropping A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE FOR SOCIAL, ECONOMIC

AND ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY In this era of global warming, fast degradation of land productivity and other environmental hazards, agroforestry Tissue Culture Teak/ Sagwan Farming with intercropping is indeed a stake for natural resources and socio-economic sustainability. Agroforestry is found to be the most desirable strategy for maintaining social, economic and ecological sustainability in India. Therefore a study was undertaken in the country to investigate the perception and attitude of farmers towards agroforestry, the crop diversity maintained in agroforestry, the adoption level of agroforestry practices and the socio-economic and ecological impact of agroforestry on the farmers. The findings revealed that farmers had a good perception of, and a favourable attitude towards agroforestry. More than one-third of the farmers (39%) belonged to the high-adoption category when all the agroforestry practices were considered, followed by a smaller percentage of farmers, i.e. 36% and 25% respectively who belonged to low- and medium-adoption level categories. The majority of farmers adopted an agri-silvi-horti-cultural system. The impact of the adoption of agroforestry on the social, economic and ecological conditions of the farmers is significant. Among the social parameters, celebration of festivals, migration and communication exposure were found to contribute more to the total impact of agroforestry on farmers. While among the economic parameters, family income, livestock possession and employment status were found to contribute more to the total impact of agroforestry on farmers. From among the ecological parameters, dependency on forests, groundwater recharge and biomass production were found to contribute more to the total impact of agroforestry on farmers. The results also revealed that the range of crop diversity increased with the increase in area owned by the farmers. The approximate annual returns of agroApril-May 2021

forestry With Intercropping from one acre (0.405 ha) ranged from 150000 to 200000 as compared to original returns of 30000 to 50000 and After 12 to 15 Years will get 1.5 Cr to 2 Cr additional with Tissue culture Teak tree. The results of the research thus clearly showed that agroforestry can achieve social, economic and ecological sustainability. Impact of Agroforestry On Society I. Social parameters: The social impact of agroforestry practices on farmers are presented in Table 4 and Fig.1. and they are discussed individually as under. Festivals: The farmers have started celebrating their festivals colourfully due to increase in annual income from agroforestry. Food Habits: The data revealed that there was a variation in food habits before and after adopting of agroforestry. With the adoption of agroforestry, farmers have stopped their traditional profession like hunting, gathering forest produces because they themselves started to produce sufficient food grains. Communication exposure: Adoption of agroforestry nesseciated them to get in contact with field extension functionaries, radio, newspaper etc to gain more information on agroforestry for better adoption. Migration: Practicing of agroforestry resulted in increased self-employment opportunities through interventions such as nursery raising, mat weaving, basket making etc. This has resulted in gradual decrease in migration. Nature of occupation: Farmers were involved in hunting and gathering of minor forest produce in the nearby forests/estates for their livelihood before the introduction of agroforestry. Now they have stopped these occupations and are concentrating only in 12

farming. II. Economic parameter The economic impact of agroforestry practices on farmers are presented in Table 4 and Fig.2 and 3. and they are discussed individually as under. a) Family income: With the adoption of agroforestry farmers started getting more income by selling the fruits and timber every year. Subsidiary activities like mat weaving, basket making, honey collection, sheep / goat rearing etc. are also taken up as an integral part of agroforestry which also intern contributed to the increased family income. b) Employment status: Farmers who used to migrate to other areas in search of employment were reduced to maximum extent as a result of employment generation due to agroforestry which ensure employment throughout the year. c) Livestock possession: Agroforestry ensured good and cheap fodder, which intern increased the number of livestocks. d) Supplementary income: One of the uniqueness of integrated farming system in general and agroforestry in particular is the promotion of traditional subsidiary occupation. This is due to the availability of raw materials for these activities. As a result farmers started many subsidiary ventures like basket making, mat weaving, bamboo crafts etc. These subsidiary occupations, naturally added to the total family income generated from the farmers. e) Farm expenditure: The expenditure incurred by the farmers on the farming has increased marginally, but not significantly. III. Ecological parameters The economic impact of agroforestry practices on farmers are presented in Table 4 and Fig.4. and they are discussed individually as under. a) Biomass production: There is significant increase in bio-

mass production viz. fodder, fuel, timber etc. with the adoption of agroforestry. Fodder species like Glyricidiamaculata, Sesbania, Luecaena sp. (Subabul) and other species like techtona grandis, acacia, Azdirachta indica (neem), Cassia siamea, Melia dubia, Casurina sp. (Casuarina) were grown in agroforestry. This combination not only meets the fodder needs of the cattle and timber needs for agricultural implements but also add organic matter to the soil. b) Groundwater recharge: The findings explicitly indicated that there is a significant improvement in the ground water availability due to tree based farming interventions. Farm pond was one such major interventions made to harvest excess runoff rainwater in agroforestry plots. These farm ponds were located in the upper/ middle catchment of the land, which enhanced the percolation which intern recharge the groundwater table. c) Dependency on natural forest: Reduction of dependency on the natural forest was observed because agroforestry met the fuel, fodder, fruits, fibre and timber needs of the farmers. d) Incidence of pest and diseases: The incidence of pests like mealy bugs, termites, shoot and stem borer were reduced as they were preyed upon by birds, who have made their nests in trees and some birds were also attracted by the fruits in the agroforestry plots. e) Climate changes: There was significant difference in atmospheric temperature, rainfall pattern and celaphic characters before and after the adoption of agroforestry. Possible reason is that tree species might have acted with regard to the modification of micro climatic parameters. Also the tap-root system of various trees acted as a barrier to soil erosion by holding soil particles tightly. April-May 2021

The overall results of this research study has pointed out that the agroforestry can bring significant social, economic and ecological changes that are desirable for the society and hence agroforestry can achieve effectively social, economic and ecological sustainability. Q7. Tell us about yourself. I am only one of my parents and a father of My Two Princess Aditi and Ananya and one My Prince Arnav Singh Rathore. My Beautiful wife Rita Singh is a Teacher in my home town Siwan. My father is a farmer and mother is no more. Q8. What is your favorite Holiday Destination? No any my favourite holiday Destination But My favorite Holidays station is my all Tissues Culture sagwanproject Location area where I always used to visit ,spend the time there and to see their growth individually ,prepare video and enjoy the Greens Q.9. Future of this project of agro forestry and Govt Support ? Growing Money on Trees: Agroforestry Can Spark A New Economy Revolution For India By Rajesh Singh Rathore… Reforms to help farmers Earn More, 1 lakh Crore for Agriculture Infrastructure The government will provide 1 lakh crore to fund agriculture infra13

structure projects, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her third set of announcements on the mega economic stimulus to help various sectors battered by the corona virus crisis and the prolonged lockdown to slow its spread. The government will also bring in law to implement agriculture marketing reforms to provide marketing choices to farmers. Farmers will have the choice to sell produce anywhere at an attractive pricing what the government has earlier dubbed the “one nation, one market” policy, farmers can sell their produce anywhere in India to get the best price. This also does away with middlemen Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, said India was on track to becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2025. This is certainly good news. It means more growth opportunities, more job opportunities and better living standards. The agricultural sector which contributes about 17% to India’s GDP and employs nearly 50% of the workforce, will give the much-needed shot in the arm for the Indian economy to become one of the world’s top three economies .Agro forestry is neither new nor unique. A few hundred years ago Indian farmers practisedagro forestry very successfully, making us a rich nation that everyone wanted to trade with. Agro forestry, a science that promoted poly culture with a variety of trees, shrubs, herbs, bushes, kept soil fertile and water plentiful and allowed economics and ecology to benefit from each other in complementary ways. ‘Sustainability’ was a way of life. If we bring back this practice to our farmers, we can spark a new revolution in the agricultural sector and the Indian economy. A study released by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations in 2016 reported that India is the third largest importer of illegally logged timber in the world. And it doesn’t come cheap. Between 2010 and 2018, India imported Rs 388 bil-

lion worth of wood and wood products from around the world. A World Bank study says this market is expected to grow at 20% every year for the next few years. I believe today it is imperative for all stakeholders to join in the Rally for Rivers initiative that promotes agro forestry solution to save our rivers. But Cauvery Calling is just the beginning and we need several such projects to kick-start in all parts of the country if indeed we are serious about sustainability and ecological balance. These would be holistic solutions that lead to inclusive growth. April-May 2021

hen a girl plans her wedding, most items of her “look” for the day are pre-planned to perfection. Of these, usually the first is jewellery. The Might of Wedding Jewellery Wedding jewels are not like the jewellery we wear to a friend’s birthday, wedding, or a casual date night. Instilled with magic and bonded by love, the right kind of wedding jewellery makes a bride radiant and glowing. Do you have your special day coming up? Are you still confused about the wedding to wear? Don’t be. Let the experts at C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers guide you to the perfect wedding jewellery styles that will make you poppin’. Make Your Jewellery, The Star of The Wedding Here’s how you can make your jewellery shine: • Go Larger Than Life A wedding only happens once in your life. So, you are allowed to 14

April-May 2021

go all out! When choosing your wedding jewellery, opt for larger neckpieces, heavy chokers, grand Jhumkis, and a Maang teeka that turns heads. Instead of choosing minimalistic diamonds, go for traditional yet modern all-gold looks, such as with this heritage gold necklace adorning your neck – and become the bride of the year! Somebody once said go large or go home, and we think the wedding is the perfect day to put that plan in action and make your jewellery, the star of the evening. • Choose To Go Bold Most contemporary brides wear only a few colours in their wedding jewellery. Some choose to go all-gold, others wear purely diamond sets, and a few others add hints of red in their jewellery pieces. Yet, if you want your jewellery to shine, you need to take a different route. Deviate from the usual hues and choose to go bold instead. You have two options: 1. Wear a neckpiece that matches with your attire 2. Choose a necklace that plays an aesthetic contrast Those who want a matching look can choose the first option, and therefore make their jewellery colour’s choice upon the colour of their wedding dress. But, for the adventurous ones who want their jewellery to do all the talking, the 2nd option is a trendy one. Pair a gold lehenga choli with this contrasting green gold choker-styled necklace for the perfect sangeet look. Or, match red on red with a maroon saari and a bright red gold necklace on your wedding day. Such bright hues are sure to leave you and your jewellery – shining. • Be Unconventional A wedding is the day to go traditional – or so it is usually thought. You can turn around the trends and create new memories by choosing an unconventional jewellery style for your wedding to make it shine. From distinct shapes to trendy cuts and bold hues; choose your level of eccentric and make the purchase! Here’s one particularly unconventional necklace option for a trendy, modern, aesthetic wedding emitting regal vibes: • Layering Beauty If you thought layered necklaces were only a trend to be adopted with casual tees – think again! Layered jewellery have been making a mark everywhere, especially in the wedding jewellery arena.

15

A great way to make your jewellery stand out on your wedding day is to layer a lot of it together, or choose one layered necklace, really. Here’s an option: With pre-made 4 layers, you don’t need to do a lot to make this jewellery piece shine. Pair it with a green choker necklace, some kundan jhumkis, and preferably a slightly deep-necked choli. Set against your skin, the jewellery will shine – along with you! Hear The Wedding Bells? If your wedding is coming up soon, there’s no time to waste. Pick your way of unconventionality – large, bold, eccentric, or layered – and head to C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers for the perfect wedding jewellery. We await your arrival!

Virtual Meetups

JEWELLERY GUIDE Dr C Vinod Hayagriv, Managing Director, 150 Year C Krishniah Chetty Group Of Jewellers

A

s 2021 began, people had marked their calendar for many events. From upcoming birthdays to special conferences, wedding dates to anniversaries, everything was scheduled, and in the case of weddings – even prepped for. Yet, as a novel virus set loose, suddenly we have seen ourselves in lockdown and all our plans seemed destroyed. However, this led to the dawn of another time – the time of virtual meetups. What is a virtual meetup? It is like a video conference call, only made much easier by newer technologies like Zoom and MS Teams, etc. With the help of vir16

tual meetups, people maintaining social distancing and quarantine rules can be located far away from one another – yet joined by a single virtual meetup. As such meetups take over today’s times, we have come rushing to our wardrobes to find the right look to don for our calls. If you are searching for inspiration for fashion for such virtual meetups – you have certainly come to the right place. Let us, at C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers, tell you how you can stun in each virtual meet up of yours. Work Meetings Owing to social distancing rules, work-from-home is being impleApril-May 2021

mented in most office spaces. While this means a lot of paperwork and excel sheets are now prepared from home, it also means the presentations have taken a virtual form. Meetings are called via applications like Zoom – where everybody can see and hear every participant of the meeting. This means – you can certainly not be sitting in your casual tee. For a work meeting, wear what you usually wear for office. An elegant look would be a wellironed blazer with a simple undershirt (remember, no graphics!). Wear your hair up in a bun and ditch the hair accessories. However, the bling to your attire is necessary. Go for a dainty necklace, one that isn’t glittery enough that it shines in your webcam, but still glossy enough to uplifts your entire look. Perhaps something like this classic diamond necklace from C. KrishniahChetty Group of Jewellers. Job Interviews Courtesy of COVID-19, job interviews have switched to online platforms – and this is just the beginning. As virtual job interviews are easier to conduct, monitor, and do not require the applicant to travel long distances simply for the interview – it is thought that this might just be the new normal. However, dressing up for the job interview remains just as crucial as it was earlier. Only now, since the upper body will be shown in the webcam, you can wear your pj’s and give the interview in your own comfort zone (yippie!). 17

When dressing up for your virtual interview, remember. While it is an interview, it’s a different one – a virtual one. Thus the interviewer will not expect you to be wearing a proper suit or something that screams ‘black-tie’. Instead, go semi-formal. While a plain pastel blue full-sleeved shirt tucked into high-waisted plaid pants is a good option, a plain eastern shalwar kameez in light hues also works well. Pair it with minimalist jewels – and C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers has just the right thing for it. Wear a maximum of 2 jewels – of your choice – from the classic diamond jewellery set, and get ready to impress them with your looks and work! If you think wearing jewellery might seem slightly over-the-top, do not worry. The watch, a timeless accessory, makes for a lovely addition to any attire. It will not only complement your hands, but also show how punctual you are. Win-win? We think so! Give this diamond watch bracelet from C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers a try! Game Night Just because we cannot meet, certainly doesn’t mean we put an end to the fun. As the heart yearns for a session of dumb charades or antakshari amidst the quarantine – the friends plan for a game night. What’s the twist? It’s virtual, of course! With the arrival of a video call game night – it is also an indication to put the funk on. Wear the

comfiest clothes (casual tees and pjs!) and the trendiest gems you have. For those who simply adore neckpieces, this flora-inspired gold chain pendant certainly seems fun and beautiful. On the other hand, if you are more of an earring person – we have just the right fix for that too with these stunning gold earrings. The Grand Family Meetup Special occasions call for special meetups – and this quarantine calls for virtual reunions! From entire university batches to family that seems to be separated by the land and seas – virtual meetups are the best way to catch up with a cup of tea. If you had an intimate wedding ceremony, or perhaps a birthday in the house; it would’ve probably been followed by a family video call, where your relatives residing abroad (or down the street even) tuned in to offer their blessings and best wishes. In such times, you need to appear fashionable and elegant. You can don any attire – semi-formal or casual ones. Saarees to western dresses. But remember to choose the jewel wisely. It should make you stand out, and appear in contrast with the clothes too. Perhaps a gold necklace like this for those who wish to shine in the video call. While those who want to blend in, can opt for another gorgeous gold pendant like this: Now that you know what attire and jewels to don with which kind of virtual meetup – it is time to get busy styling! Know About

COMMON WOMEN’S HEALTH ISSUES Dr. Niti Krishna Raizada

Director, Medical Oncology and Hemato-Oncologist, Fortis La Femme Hospital, Richmond Road, Bangalore

W

hen it comes to Women’s health, we can classify it according to different groups, like Cancers, Gynaecological health, Systemic diseases, Pregnancy related and General Health including Mental health. First coming to the Cancers. The most common Cancers affecting women are Breast, Cervical, Endometrial and Ovarian. Breast Cancer: Apart from the obvious lump in the breast look out for:  Bloody discharge from nipple  Retraction of nipple, flaking skin around nipple  Erythema i.e., redness of skin of the breast, bruising look like red or purple or bluish tint 20

 Arm pit / underarm swelling because of lymph nodes being affected  Skin texture change like thickening, Dimpling of skin (like an orange peel)  Tenderness / painful breast or nipple area  Size and shape changes of the breast What you need to do: Between:  Age 20 - 30 years: Breast self-examination / awareness  Age 31 - 40 years: Clinical Examination by an Oncologist every 6 months  Age 41 - 55 years: Annual Mammogram  Beyond 55 years: Mammogram once in two years Cancer Cervix: This cancer is common in women with promiscuous sexual activity with multiple partners and is caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which is sexually transmitted. We now have vaccines for this and it will protect both the woman from getting cervical cancer in a later date, and the men from penile cancers. To diagnose this the gold stand-

ard test is the PAP smear and is performed once in 3 years in women between 20-30 years and once in 5 years in women between 30 -65 years. Screening test includes testing for the HPV Endometrial Cancer: This is the cancer of the inner lining of the Uterus. It is more common in the peri-menopausal period and amongst those who are on certain type of hormones (like taking oestrogen without progesterone, or on tamoxifen treatment for breast cancer). While there is no prescribed preventive screening test, those who develop unusual discharge, spotting, or vaginal bleeding (that’s getting worse, occurring between periods, or happening after menopause) should visit a doctor for evaluation. Ovarian Cancer: While it can occur at any age, its is more likely as a woman gets older. Women who have never had children or had their first child after 35 years are at higher risk. Family history, those who have had oestrogen only as HRT, are also high risk. While there is no recommended cancer screening tests, a routine pelvic examination and a proper history and evaluation April-May 2021

for Ovarian cancer by scanning is necessary. Gynaecological health: During reproductive age group, women also are affected by non-cancerous issues, which include Breast lump like fibrocystic disease, Fibroadenomas, Breast pain etc & Ovarian lesions / cysts / PCOD - Polycystic ovarian disease, Uterine fibroids and usual manifestation is irregular or heavy vaginal bleed. It is important not to neglect any symptom and seek medical evaluation. When we speak of women’s health it is often possible to overlook Systemic diseases like heart disease, auto immune diseases, diabetes and other hormonal issues for eg Thyroid. Perimenopausal and post menopausal women have the same risk for heart disease as the men of the 21

same age. The protection offered by oestrogen hormone wanes away and risk for Coronary artery disease thus increases. Pregnancy Issues: During pregnancy, the pre-existing diseases which a lady has can worsen affecting the life of both the mother and the child she is carrying. Chiefly, Asthma, diabetes, anemia, are to be looked out for apart from pregnancy per se which includes ectopic pregnancy or foetal deformities. Your Obstetrician will cover all the issued during routine antenatal examinations. General & Mental Health: Osteoporosis during menopause is an important cause for morbidity. Bone density testing, supplements with Activated Vitamin D3 and Calcium to prevent the osteoporotic

weak bones are important must-do steps to be taken by ageing women. Depression and anxiety is the other common challenge. It ranges from Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) Depression which is due to natural hormonal fluctuations and is sometimes greatly intensified referred as the premenstrual dysmorphic disorder (PMDD). Also, shortly after birth, many mothers acquire a form of depression called the Perinatal Depression. Depression also occurs during the shift into menopause, called Perimenopause depression. No matter how intense the symptoms, care providers can provide relief with prescription or therapeutic treatments and women should not suffer by themselves but seek medical help. April-May 2021

LIFESTYLE MODIFICATIONS

To Manage Urinary Leak In Women Dr Rubina Shanawaz Z

Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Uro Gynaecology, Fortis La Femme Hospital, Richmond Road, Bangalore

If your leak is before you can reach the washroom ,then what you suffer from is called Urge Urinary Incontinence(UUI) If you notice urine leakage when you change posture or when laughing or coughing, it is known as Stress Urinary Incontinence(SUI) The above two are the commonest types of Urinary Leakage.

I

f there is one topic on women’s health that is grossly ill understood , it undoubtedly is Urinary Leak, medically known as Urinary Incontinence (UI). What is Urinary leak? Urinary Leak is not just bedwetting but also when you notice dribbling of urine before you can reach the restroom ,when you cough, lift heavy weights, play tennis or have intercourse. It is simply put, inability to control urine outflow. Based on which activity it is associated with, there are different reasons for the leak. 22

Why does this happen? This can be due to various reasons ranging most commonly from weakness of the muscles which support the uterus and urinary bladder (known as the Pelvic Floor Muscles). This is due to increased pressure on the Pelvic Floor as a result of obesity , difficult vaginal delivery, post pregnancy especially when there have been repeated pregnancies with short inter pregnancy intervals, incessant cough or chronic constipation. Urinary Leak can also result due to underlying chronic diseases and other neurological issues.

What are the lifestyle modifications which can be followed for managing urinary leak? There are extremely simple, efficient and effective ways to prevent and treat this condition that has ‘dampened’ many a woman’s life! 1. First and foremost, have a detailed initial discussion with your urogynaecologist. Many patients are not aware of the ‘physical’ nature of their symptoms and consider themselves neurotic. Discussing the problem with your doctor and understanding that it is not psychological, is the first step. 2. Maintain a minimum 24-hour time log of fluid (water/any other fluids) intake and urine output. This is referred to as a “Bladder diary”. This will give you a factual perspective on what to assume as normal. April-May 2021

It’s the first step your urogynaecologist will request as it will help to understand your bladder habits better. The fluid intake amount and pattern can then be modified accordingly. Once you have your log ready, the next step is bladder training. 3. Bladder training: is an essential part of urge incontinence management. Patients are encouraged to postpone urination once they get the urge to go. This can be gradually increased over days to weeks from  2-5 minutes to begin with  to almost an hour or  till the interval between the visits reaches 3-4 hours. Pelvic floor exercises, counting from 1 to 100 and diverting the mind are few tactics to help increase the ‘hold time’ and delay urination. Your urogynaecologist will prescribe certain drugs which will help your bladder avoid spasms and leak episodes, and in turn help build your confidence and adherence to bladder training exercises. 3. Weight loss: Obesity is associated with both urge and stress incontinence. Reduction in body weight helps in reducing the symptoms. 4. Dietary changes: Avoid bladder irritants like caffeine, chocolate, spicy foods, acidic juices, artificial 23

sweeteners, etc. 5. Kegel’s exercises: This is what is also known as Pelvic Floor Exercises which help to strengthen the pelvic floor . When can I do Kegel’s exercises? The beauty of Kegel exercises is that they can be done anywhere and anytime… Because the only person who will know you are doing it is - you! It doesn’t require you to set aside time from your busy schedule or isolate yourself. All you need to know is how to isolate the pelvic floor! I usually advise my patients to identify two times of the day when their routine is fixed and incorporate these exercises into those times. For example, while reading your book before bed, or cutting vegetables for lunch, or watching TV in the evening or even while travelling in a car…whenever and wherever it is convenient for you! What exactly does Kegel’s entail? 1. Imagine you need to stop peeing midstream. The muscles you use then are the muscles you need to contract for Pelvic Floor Exercises. 2. Contract the muscle and slowly start counting. Initially, hold for

5 counts and gradually, over the weeks, increase to 10 counts. 3. Relax for 3- 5 seconds. 4. Do 10-20 such repetitions, twice a day. 5. You will have to practice for 3 months at least, to determine if this helps you or not. 6. If it helps, continue lifelong. What precautions do I need to take? 1. Do these exercises on an empty bladder 2. Don’t hold your breath while exercising 3. Don’t overdo the repetitions or recommended frequency as overexertion with wrong technique will turn out to be counter productive! What age should I start doing these exercises? The pelvic floor laxity usually starts with the first pregnancy. This would be an ideal time to start the exercise. If this issue presents earlier than that, then ensure that you start these exercises immediately. Once you start, make sure to incorporate it in your daily routine. Prevention is better than cure! So get started ! Stay safe, stay hydrated, stay healthy! April-May 2021

FALL IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF By Jen mccarty

Fall in love with you. What does this mean? For many people, this is a very ambiguous statement. What does it mean to fall in love with you? Does it mean that you must only eat vegan food? Does it mean that you must master headstands in yoga? Does it mean that you must spend half of your life in an ashram in India?

T

he answer to this is no. In my experience as a spiritual teacher and a spiritual activist, I have come to understand that falling in love with you means understanding that we all have a shadow aspect to our consciousness. The world is considered a third dimensional matrix, also known as Samsara. This realm hides the truth in many ways, as it creates a filter to the truth that God is all pervasive and is shining throughout all dimensions. It is very important for you to 24

understand that you have a multidimensional aspect to your nature, a part of your soul that is eternal. You have a 3D body which will die and return back to God, but you have a soul that will remain forever. When we are born into the 3D matrix, we take on the thoughts, beliefs, and programs of the collective consciousness, including our own ancestral lineage. These can be thoughts of “I’m not good enough”, comparison thoughts, competitiveness thoughts..., feeling judged, feeling unworthy of love. These are all thought forms which are very rife and preva-

lent within the third dimensional matrix. And unless we awaken to our true multidimensionality as eternal spiritual beings, we will identify with these thought-forms that appear in our consciousness, which try to convince us that we are not good enough and that we will never find love, et cetera. To truly love yourself means that you have the wisdom and understanding that this is part of your shadow self, that the shadow self is symbolic of the unhealed aspect of the collective consciousness. We each have an individual duty to stand underneath our shadow April-May 2021

aspects, to listen attentively to the messages that our shadow aspects wish to speak to us about. It is our duty to integrate our shadow aspect through standing underneath it and bringing it home. This is true self-love. This is what it means to truly love yourself. It means to unify all of the fragmented aspects of yourself that are stuck in pain and suffering. Every time we do this, we massively increase our spiritual vibration, our levels of happiness, our levels of radiance and spiritual glam25

or. All of these aspects become extremely heightened and potent and intense whenever we integrate our shadow aspect and in turn truly and absolutely love yourself. Loving yourself means understanding that we are all one, there is no separation. And even the person that causes you suffering or annoys you, that person is one with you and one with God. When we truly love ourselves, we truly remember that there is no separation. And if we are cruel and hurtful towards another person, we are actually being cruel

and hurtful towards yourself, also known as oneself. Loving oneself must become a priority for those on the spiritual path. As if you do not love yourself, you will be an extremely fractured and fragmented person, and you will always appear to be inauthentic to genuinely spiritual people. I highly recommend reading my book, Twin Flames & The Event. I devote many chapters to the concept, the truth and the reality of loving oneself. April-May 2021

HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE By Jen mccarty

In order to transform our relationship with wealth, we need to understand that we all carry a wealth blueprint. And the wealth blueprint is connected to our parents and grandparents’ relationship with wealth. Very often, unconsciously, we will align ourselves with the same wealth level as our parents and grandparents. 26

April-May 2021

T

here are many conscious and subconscious reasons for this. One of the main subconscious reasons for this is that we do not wish to attract any disapproval from our parents by earning more money than them. This was a huge revelation for me when I realized that as I had gone into the same career as my mom. I was a fashion designer and I was earning exactly the same amount of money that my mom earned for many, many years. One day I realized that I felt guilty to earn more money than her and I realized that this was massively affecting my wealth blueprint. Once I bought that belief out of my subconscious mind and I looked at it in the light of day, I understood that my mom would be very happy for me to be a successful and earn more money than her. I then met a coach who said to me, “How much money would you like to earn per month?” And I said, “£10,000 a month.” and that didn’t take long to manifest.Just by stating how much money I wanted to earn a month, everything in my reality shifted. I started to write my 27

The habits of highly successful people are  They get up early every day, write lists, accomplish their goals.  They create a powerful team around them for their support.  Whatever they do, it is in very efficient way, as they give their soul and mind to their job.  They set goals and achieve them. They focus on becoming magnetic to their clients. blog and I started doing one-to-one sessions with people. I was extremely magnetic and did not put any money into advertising my services. People simply just found me. So, two things to transform your relationship with wealth. One, understand that we all have a wealth blueprint that is connected very often to our parents and grandparents’ wealth blueprint. We need to look at that in the light of day and we need to decide whether that wealth blueprint is serving us. Secondly, we need to set a target of

how much rupees we would like to earn per month. And then, when you have set your target, you need to stand in the vibration of trust, knowing that the universe will work with you to assist you to manifest that amount of wealth per month. I have now started to train people in a millionaire mindset. We all have to realize that money is a very neutral energy and Mother-Father God gave us money to enjoy and play with. Many of us have had religious lifetimes where we have taken vows of poverty and many on the spiritual path need to very much clear those vows. Once we clear those vows, we open up to receive vast levels of abundance. And please know that this makes Mother-Father God very happy. Mother-Father God wishes to see a transference of wealth from the greedy globalist billionaires to the fully awake and conscious star seeds. The reason for this is that we will use our wealth for the creation of heaven on earth as opposed to the destruction of earth. These are some of the habits of highly successful people, and we should surround ourselves with successful people. April-May 2021

The Ways To Increase Your

CONFIDENCE

I

By Jen Mccarty

One of the ways that we can increase our confidence is to transcend the need for other people’s approval. This was a lesson that took me many years to master. One day I woke up and I realized that God is watching every move I make, every word that I speak. And I committed in that moment to becoming the best daughter to MotherFather God. 28

PRO TIP

April-May 2021

realized that I was absolutely committed to becoming the best version of myself, and that would not necessarily be understood by other human beings. And so, I have accepted that as long as I can make God happy, I am very confident to not please all human beings. This is because many human beings are not at a high level of consciousness and they have many subconscious fears and shadow issues which they can easily project onto you. Therefore,we all have to train ourself to no longer access the source of wellbeing and self-confidence based on other people’s approval. Another way that we can increase our self-confidence is to embrace our shadow. We all have a shadow aspect from incarnating into the third dimensional Samsara Matrix. The shadow aspect could be connected to fear of rejection, fear of denial, fear of being betrayed, et cetera. However, we must reframe our relationship with our triggers. I would invite you to be grateful for any moment in time whereby you are triggered by a relationship, as this person is working with your unconscious mind to enable you to bring home a very important aspect of your psyche which has remained in a state of separation. Therefore, every time we get triggered by someone or we get rejected by someone, this is an opportunity for us to look at the pattern inside our subconscious mind which has attracted this experience. Very often, it is connected to our inner child and the fact that our inner child has experienced a great amount of wounding in their lifetime. The inner child is in a state of needing a great amount of healing. And part of the illusion of the third dimension is that the healing will come from outside of yourself or from something external. However, true healing is only accessed within our own self when we stand under and listen deeply to our shadow aspects in order to validate them and ultimately to bring them home. I have found that when we are triggered and we do this correct work with our shadow self, this massively uplevels our spiritual vibration and enables us to have a great amount of energy and alignment with our true self. This massively affects our self-confidence as we stop projecting onto other people to come and fix us and heal us as we know that we are truly quite capable of fixing and healing ourselves. This one act of becoming at one with your shadow is an extremely powerful way to increase your confidence as you transcend the need for other people’s approval and indeed connection in your life. You have become self-sufficient to a certain degree and you can stand tall with your head held high. There are many tips that I share to increase one’s confidence. I highly recommend mirror work. 29

Looking into your eyes and repeating the words, “I love and I approve of myself. you will feel very deeply confident. All of your dreams are coming true.” Mirror work is extremely powerful as is inner child work. It is very important to know and remember that we each have an inner child that Mother-Father God is deeply connected to and in love with. The more that we can connect with our own inner child, the more happiness and confidence we will feel in our life.

A Guide For Mothers To Celebrate Themselves

About Author Sanmati Sanyam, CEO - House of Healers

MOTHERS DAY & EVERYDAY By Sanmati Sanyam

eing a mother doesn’t come with a manual and it doesn’t get easy even if you have been at it for years. Yes, it’s the most beautiful feeling but we can’t deny that mothers are overworked, exhausted and slowly it becomes their normal way of being. After a point, they don’t know how to do nothing and just be. 34

Though the period of lockdown has been good in a way that it got families to have more time with each other but it has taken breathing space away from mothers. They are constantly attending to the needs of different members of the family, the burden of household work has significantly increased, some are managing work from home, raising children, taking care

of the sick and in all this the absence of house help has only made it more difficult. Mothers are working around the clock, doing double and triple shifts. Though gender roles are changing fast but largely still the onus of running a home is on the women of the house. Moms wear so many hats and it’s not surprising that self care sometimes just doesn’t happen for moms. A buddhist teaching talks about how you cannot keep pouring from an empty cup. It emphasises on the importance of nurturing and nourishing oneself so we can share that energy with the people around us. With moms, it becomes difficult to take out time for oneself without experiencing guilt, without your mind giving you a list of things that you still have to finish and how your needs can wait. Self- care is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. Taking care of yourself as a mother is not only beneficial for you but for your spouse and children too. When you’re feeling relaxed and happy you’re able to be more present, April-May 2021

enjoy your time with family and not feel cranky and irritable because of all the tasks at hand. It’s important for your children to see that you have your own hobbies and routine as children learn by seeing people and things around them. If you feel uncomfortable doing it for yourself, do it for your children. You don’t want them to think that it’s okay to abuse your body, to not exercise, to not take out time for yourself and to keep giving, giving and giving. Here are some things moms can try to have a healthy balance 1. SAY NO- If you’re feeling tired and can’t do a certain task start saying No. 2. ASK FOR HELP- Involve your husband and children in sharing the load at home. It not only reduces your burden but makes you feel supported and at the same time empowers your family to do things on their own. 3. SET ASIDE SOME TIME DAILY FOR YOURSELF- You can use this time to read, listen to music, sing, meditate or whatever it is that you enjoy doing. 4. EXERCISE- Staying healthy is very important. Healthy moms have healthy 35

self-esteem. Doing physical and breathing exercises even if it’s for 30minutes a day can be a game-changer for your overall health, mood and energy levels. 5. SALT BATHS- Yes, I said baths. No only does it flush out used up energies from our system but leaves us feeling relaxed and revitalised. 6. ENERGY HEALING SPA - can be experienced in the comfort of your home. It balances the energy in one’s aura and chakras and helps to release energies of stress, energies causing aches and pains. 30 minutes of this experience can take care of your day. 7. TAKE TIME WITH YOUR PARTNER- It’s easy to get entangled in one’s role as a mother but it’s equally important to have space and time for your relationship with your partner. Yes, there is a lockdown but holding hands, hugging each other, remembering stories from the past, doing things together can be done anywhere. Just the act of looking at each other is enough to fill one with a deep sense of bliss. When your cup is filled with self love and care, what you pour out to the ones around you makes you feel energised and fulfilled.

MATERNAL & CHILD NUTRITION

DURING COVID By Ryan Fernando

Founder QUA Nutrition, Celebrity & Sports Nutritionist

T

he coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has thrown children’s and their families’ lives into disarray all over the world. Misinformation has spread along with COVID-19, fueling bigotry and stigma. COVID-19 will make children of any age sick. Although children and adults have similar symptoms, children are more likely to have a milder disease than adults. Children’s immune systems differ from adults’ and can vary greatly depending on their age, so it’s important to make sure they’re getting the right nutrition. During the COVID-19 pandemic, eating a balanced diet is important. Our body’s ability to resist, combat, and recover from infections is influenced by what we eat and drink. Good nutrition is essential for good health, especially when the immune system is under attack. Access to fresh foods can be restricted, limiting opportunities to maintain a balanced and varied diet. It can also contribute to an increase in the processed foods consumptions that are high in fats, sugars, and salts. Nonetheless, a diet that promotes good health can be maintained even with few and minimal ingredients. Even though no foods or dietary supplements can treat or inhibit COVID-19 infection, eating a healthy diet is crucial for immune system support. A healthy diet for babies includes exclusively breastfeeding during the first six months, from the age of six months to two years nutritious and safe foods need to be introduced to complement breastmilk. A healthy, well-balanced diet is important for young children’s development and growth. It can help older people live healthier and more involved lives. 52

Make sure your child gets a variety of foods, including Vegetables fruits, legumes like beans & lentils, nuts, and whole grains like oats, brown rice, wheat, millet (unprocessed), or roots like beetroot, potatoes, as well as eggs, meat, milk and fish. A cup of fruit per day is recommended for toddlers aged 2 to 3. Make sure your child gets one cup of cooked or raw vegetables per day. Consume a variety of plants, such legumes, orange and red brightly coloured vegetables and leafy greens. Protein should be consumed in 2–3 portions a day. Fish should be eaten at least twice a week, with oily fish such as salmon, sardines, or mackerel being one of them. Walnuts, pistachios and almonds are protein-rich nuts that can be given to children over the age of five. Whole milk or yoghurt should be given to children under the age of two. Vitamin D-fortified dairy products are a better source. Offer your child raw vegetables and fresh fruit as snacks instead of foods high in sugars, fats, or salts. Make sure you don’t overcook your vegetables and fruit, as this can cause essential vitamins to be lost. Ensure that your child drinks 5–7 cups of water per day. It can consist of water of all types, as well as other 53

liquids and foods. The best choice would be water, but you can also offer them something like unsweetened milk, as well as fruit and vegetables that contain water, such as tomatoes, melon, oranges, cucumber, spinach, apples and mushrooms. High sugar drinks such as sweetened fruit juices, fizzy drinks and syrups should better be avoided. Make sure your child consumes unsaturated fats like olive oil, fish, almonds, sunflower oil and avocado instead of saturated fats like milk, coconut oil, ghee, fatty meat, butter and cheese. Processed foods, cookies, snacks items, spreads, fried foods and fast foods all contain industrially manufactured trans fats. Limit salt and high-sodium condiments when cooking and preparing food for your kids. Use iodized salt and limit your daily salt intake to less than 5 g (approximately 1 teaspoon). For all you mama’s you can definitely have the above in the right portions The social distancing associated with the COVID-19 outbreak has meant that many families are spending more time at home, which provides new opportunities to share meals together. Family meals are an important opportunity for parents to be role models for healthy eating,

and for strengthening family relationships. Increased time at home during this period may also present new opportunities to involve children in cooking healthy foods, which can help them acquire important life skills that they can carry into adulthood. Choosing which vegetables to include in your meal with your children will encourage them to eat veggies at the table. It’s vital to keep meals simple when involving kids in the kitchen, and to teach them about proper food safety (including hand washing, cleaning surfaces and avoiding consumption of certain raw ingredients). A qualified dietitian will provide general healthy eating advice to you and your kids, as well as assist you in deciding what to feed your family. Dietitians may also assist you and your child in managing a variety of illnesses. She/he may also provide you with recipe suggestions and guidance and customize nutrition plans based on your needs. Clensta Germ Protection Lotion is manufactured and tested by Clensta Micro Biological laboratory incubated at IIT Delhi. The product has been formulated with the PAP (prolonged antimicrobial protection) Technology, where the active ingredients synergistically increase the effectiveness of each other at a particular concentration. It is a specially engineered formulation composed of three active ingredients which form a triplet complex of the nanoparticles + biosurfactant+ acid. The nanoparticles in the triplet complex are accelerated to provide long-lasting antimicrobial protection by slowly releasing the reactive oxygen species (ROS) on the skin surface. The biosurfactant and acid mixture disrupts the outer membrane of the viruses, on the other hand, nanoparticles release ROS that degrades the genetic material (DNA/ RNA) of the viruses and bacteria. Clensta Hand Sanitizer with alcohol retention formula offers 99% germ protection with antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that make it a quick solution for all-round protection and freshness. A skin-friendly hand hygiene solution is effective against germs, bacteria and viruses to protect your hands in routine use.
