At our school, every morning is the start of something special...
Sheya Frankie woke up one morning…
Today wasn’t just any day – it was Notting Hill & Ealing Junior School day.
From morning giggles to muddy knees, painted fingers to storytime smiles – it’s a day full of curiosity, care, creativity and confidence.
Seen through her eyes, this is where every moment matters.

Morning, Sheya Frankie!
At the classroom door, she’s greeted with a big smile and a warm hello – because feeling known and cared for sets the tone for every day.
Every morning at NHEHS Junior School feels full of possibility. I love seeing the girls arrive – wide smiles, big ideas and endless energy. Our school is a place where being curious, kind and brave matters just as much as getting things right. It’s a joy to watch each girl discover her strengths and grow into herself. No two journeys are ever the same here – and that’s exactly what makes every day so exciting.

She learns her way
She’s not just learning numbers – she’s discovering patterns, puzzles and problems she wants to solve. In Science, she’s asking bold questions and testing her ideas. With space to stretch and time to explore.
Academic excellence sits at the heart of our curriculum, which is both rigorous and play-based, covering essential subjects such as phonics, reading, writing, Maths, Science, Art, Music, Drama and Physical Education. Girls are also taught the skills they need to support their learning, including fine motor skills, selfconfidence and public speaking. Our approach encourages the girls to develop skills, foster motivation, curiosity and creativity to become inquisitive, confident learners.
With small class sizes, our teachers can provide individual attention to understand your daughter’s strengths, where she is ready for additional challenge and where she needs more support. We will keep you updated with your daughter’s progress and offer guidance on how you can support her learning at home.
Specialist teaching begins with Music and Sport, extending in Year 1 with languages, Art, Science and Computer Science – all taught in dedicated spaces.
There’s no so thing as too much curiosity.

Today she’s an explorer
Outside she leads the way – climbing higher, finding new paths, daring to dream bigger. Confidence grows here through curiosity, independence and adventure.
Confident girls who feel empowered, inspired and real-world ready will thrive throughout school and beyond. This begins in the Junior School, where girls are encouraged to take risks and embrace challenges in a supportive, girls-only environment.
We provide numerous opportunities for girls to lead, collaborate and express themselves – whether through drama, classroom roles, or the freedom to make choices and bring ideas to life. This freedom to explore and experiment is an essential part of their growth, fostering resilience and self-assurance, and it empowers our pupils to build the confidence they need to thrive in all areas of life.
OUR DAILY RULES...
Climb higher, jump further, dream bigger.

She’s finding her voice
Topics come alive through stories and conversations. She’s building strong foundations – learning to ask, imagine and express herself with growing confidence.
There is strong evidence that girls-only education leads to higher academic achievement, greater diversity of subject choice, stronger self-confidence and resilience, supporting her future journey.
We are experts in teaching girls and have designed our education to maximise the opportunities for girls to realise their potential. This includes the design of our school, the curriculum content and classroom approaches, the role models they are presented with and the co-curricular opportunities. We create a whole-school culture that respects, nurtures, challenges and empowers girls.
Research from the ‘Designing Education for Girls’ Futures Report’ highlights that “in classrooms without boys, girls feel free to pursue a wider range of subjects, to participate more actively in lessons, challenge others’ views, take leadership roles and work collaboratively.”
OUR DAILY RULES...
Can’t isn’t a word we use – we say: let’s try!

She’s making her mark
One moment she’s painting bold colours; the next, she’s clapping rhythms in Music. This is where her creativity takes flight.
Our girls have endless opportunities to explore a diverse curriculum that includes Music, Drama, Art, Science, Sport and Swimming. This well-rounded approach is part of a typical week, while still allowing time after school for relaxation, family life and imaginative play.
Being part of the GDST family means as they grow, our girls also gain access to exciting national opportunities. These include Drama at Shakespeare’s Globe, Science at the Royal Institution, Maths at the University of Oxford’s Mathematical Institute, as well as national poetry and creative writing competitions, and national sports rallies. Additionally, our trips programme provides the chance to explore new environments and bring their learning to life.

She’s surrounded by friends
Lunch is chatty, happy and filled with stories. Outside, there are races to run and games to share – always with someone by her side.
Pastoral care underpins everything we do in the Junior School; we know that supported, happy girls thrive, build friendships and learn.
RISE (Resilience, Inclusivity, Support and Empowerment) is a framework that defines our pastoral care strategy throughout the school. RISE offers a clear approach and elevates our pupil-chosen school values of respect, kindness and honesty. It is sustained by an engaging programme of PSHE and is supported by numerous resources for pupils, staff and parents.
Girls are helped to understand and express their feelings, become confident in their individuality, develop an outward-looking perspective, and learn life skills to navigate through school and beyond.

She’s being herself
This is her moment – her reading time, just her and her teacher. Then it’s off to Music, or Sport, or Swimming: trying new things and discovering what makes her shine.
Really getting to know your daughter is at the heart of our teaching ethos. With around 20 girls per class and a teacher and teaching assistant, she will be known as an individual. She will be supported oneto-one, and in daily small groups, to develop to develop the foundational academic and social skills that will set her up for success.
With only two forms in each year group, this deep knowledge of the girls continues up through the school, with the girls mixing classes regularly to help them build broad and lasting friendships.
We carefully plan for your daughter’s next steps in her learning journey, supporting and challenging her for optimal development.
RULES... Shine in your own way. Today’s all yours.

2.30pm

2.30pm
She’s ready for what’s next
She’s a vet, a chef, a dragon, an inventor. She tells her story – and others listen. This is where ideas are shared, voices are celebrated, and imaginations have room to grow – however big, bold or daring.
We are committed to providing an all-through education that evolves and adapts with your daughter. Our focus is on her academic progress, encouraging her to explore new interests and enjoy a more enriching educational experience without the narrowing and pressures of 11+ exam preparation.
We will ensure that her transition to Senior School is seamless, exciting and rewarding, allowing her to embrace new academic challenges and engage in additional co-curricular opportunities. We will support her through public exams, university applications and beyond, leveraging our vibrant alumnae network, who are always ready to offer guidance and advice.
OUR DAILY RULES...
Take small steps, start big adventures.

She’s leaving with stories to tell
Whether she heads home, or stays for After School Club with friends, the day ends just as it began: with warmth, joy and a sense of belonging.
As girls progress through the Junior School, they can choose from over 50 co-curricular activities. These opportunities play a vital role in a child’s journey, helping them grow personally, develop new skills, and form friendships through shared experiences.
Our After School Club, running in our light Creative Hub, provides parents with flexible wrap-around care and your daughter will enjoy crafting, Lego and having fun with friends, plus tasty snacks!
Leave the day a little brighter.
