Dear North Florida PGA Members and Associates,
PRESENTED BY:
The summer brings the heart of the season for the NFPGA with the Annual Meeting, Chapter/Section tournaments, PGA HOPE, PGA Junior League, Drive, Chip, and Putt, and longer days to enjoy. I hope everyone can recharge and spend time with family and friends.
NFPGA North Stars – Members, Game, People, Business.
Members - As of June 2024, the NFPGA had 243 Associates, with 78% of the Associates in Level 1. This is positive for our future, but we know our Associates are going to need assistance, especially in L1, supporting their path to Membership. Retention of our Associates is critical to our future. Keith Fisher, PGA Career Consultant is hosting Assistant/Associate Mentorship and Retention events in each Chapter (July – Oct). Thank you for encouraging your Assistants/ Associates to attend these complimentary events to Network and Learn. In addition, the Career-Employment Committee is recruiting mentors to create a structured mentor program. If interested in being a mentor, please contact KFisher@pga.com.
Thank you to our host facilities and PGA Professionals for welcoming the NFPGA the first half of the year. Congratulations to our winning PGA Professionals that have displayed their games and persevered to victory. A special congratulations to John Somers (Southern Hills Plantation Club) on securing a position on the 2024 PGA Cup Team and representing the United States at Sunriver Resort in September. Best of luck to all our Professionals competing in the upcoming NFPGA Professional Championship (August 5/6) at Laurel Oak Country Club.

Thank you to our United States Veterans, PGA Coaches, Host Facilities, and Alivia Mattiace for making a positive difference through PGA HOPE.
Business – With the recent election, the Officers have transitioned responsibilities. We are preparing for an in-person board meeting and leadership planning in mid-August. The board will discuss the goals and growth opportunities. Where do we want to go and how do we improve the organization to serve our purpose and mission. Our Purpose: We exist to serve our Members and grow the game in North Florida. The mission of the NFPGA is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry.
Every day, our Professionals are serving the purpose and mission of the NFPGA. Thank you for all that you do to enhance the game of golf in North Florida and beyond.
Sincerely,
Matt Borocz, PGA NFPGA President
PGA Members must earn Professional Development Requirement (PDR) credits every three years. The main objective of PDR participation is to advance professional development and cultivate well-rounded professionals dedicated to the traditional values of golf: teaching, playing, and promoting the sport. For PGA Members, active participation in player development, ongoing education, and involvement in Section and Chapter activities is essential. While the vast majority of PGA Members fulfill the requirements on time, there is typically a surge in activity in the final 90 days. This article serves to guide our Members in understanding the requirements and planning for the upcoming eleven months.
A total of 54 credits must be earned. Thirty (30) credits must be earned through PGA Approved Education, Professional Standards Education/Training, and/or Specified PGA Player Engagement Programs. Six (6) credits must be earned by attending PGA Meetings (including Section and Chapter meetings) and/or completing National Surveys. All credits earned in the Required Category are also credited toward the Total Category.
Career-specific education refers to participating in or instructing education offered directly by the National, Section, or Chapter PGA, including online courses available on PGA.org or NFPGA.com. Additionally, education from external sources approved by the PGA will also be recognized in this category. This can include training provided by your employer, such as CRP, HR, Sales, Food & Beverage, and other relevant topics.
The NFPGA offers multiple PDR opportunities each month. Members receive a PDR Opportunity email every week listing upcoming opportunities. Alternatively, you can visit NFPGA.org, go to the Member Portal, and choose Opportunities from the Learn tab.
All online education offered on PGA.org is approved for PDR Education credits in the PGA Required category. Additionally, the NFPGA hosts a monthly learnIQ webinar series on the second Thursday of each month at 11 am. You can register for a webinar on NFPGA.com by visiting the Member Portal and selecting PDR Opportunities from the Learn Tab. Also, you can watch previous learnIQ webinars in the learnIQ Library. PGA Members can receive PDR credits from various online education offerings beyond the scope of the NFPGA or PGA.org, which will be credited towards “PGA Required.” Please note that online courses/webinars require an assessment to be taken in order to earn a PDR credit.
Where do I find my PDR Status?
Your PDR Status is posted on your PGA.org and PGA Member APP dashboard.
How do I report results?
For PGA activities (national, section, or chapter) or programs, your PDRs will be posted on your behalf. If you need to post PDR credits, you can click on “Report PDR Credit” from your PGA.org or PGA Member APP Dashboard and then follow the appropriate links. If you are reporting Education, you must download the form, complete it, and send it via email to msr@pgahq.com or fax it to (561) 624-8439.
Where do I go to get support?
NFPGA.com offers information and resources, along with links to important sections of PGA.org. The PDR Help Guide is located in the Membership Portal under the Learn Tab. For assistance, you can contact the Membership Department at (800) 474-2776, or reach out to Jennifer Borocz at the Section Office at (321) 284-8067.
