May 2025
North Florida PGA Members, Associates, and Friends -

I hope this finds you having enjoyed a successful Spring season As we look towards ahead, activity within the North Florida PGA Section is in full swing. Thank you to those Members and facilities who are hosting Drive, Chip, and Putt qualifiers, PGA HOPE, PGA Junior League, Chapter Events, and Section Events

Our focus as a Section staff as we get into the busy summer months is to prioritize our preparation to ensure we are operating efficiently to best serve YOU Oftentimes, burnout and dysfunction comes from being unprepared and we’re prioritizing this mindset to ensure that we’re conducting the best possible events and that all of us at the Section are rowing in the same direction.
The current PDR cycle deadline of June 15th is fast approaching. There are still multiple opportunities to earn credits before the cycle ends. A few to call out specifically, LearnIQ webinars on May 28th and June 12th, Teaching & Coaching Summit at Tara Golf and Country Club on May 29th, and the North Florida PGA Annual Meeting at Heathrow Country Club on June 9th. There is also a library of all previously recorded webinars on the Section website that are eligible for PDRs. We’ve also added a Volunteer Opportunities signup to our Section event portal found at NFPGA.com. You can earn PDR credits, and deferred compensation points by volunteering through the various opportunities listed. Please reach out to Jennifer (jborocz@pgahq.com) at the Section office with any questions on PDRs and Deferred Compensation. You can check your PDR status at pga.org.
We’d like to highlight North Florida PGA representation at upcoming national events. Congratulations to John Somers and Greg Koch for qualifying for the PGA Championship via their Top-20 finish at the PGA Professional Championship last month. The NFPGA was represented by 12 members at the PPC, John Somers, Greg Koch, Rod Perry, David Hronek, Hayes Farley, Jonathan Mansfield, Sandra Changkija, Stephanie Connelly Eiswerth, Matt Borchert, Christian Bartolacci, Dalton Bartlett, and Garret Howell. Rod Perry will represent the NFPGA at the upcoming Senior PGA Championship via a T17 finish at the Senior PGA Professional Championship last October, and Sandra Changkija will represent the NFPGA at the upcoming KPMG Women’s PGA Championship via a T5 finish at the 2024 LPGA Professionals Championship. DEFERRED COMPENSATION
A COMPLETE GUIDE TO DEFERRED COMPENSATION FOR NORTH FLORIDA PGA MEMBERS
What is Deferred Compensation?
Deferred Compensation is a valuable financial incentive program offered by the PGA of America, enabling PGA Members to build retirement savings through their professional contributions and engagement By participating in qualifying activities, members earn points that convert into financial rewards, which are deposited into a deferred compensation plan, such as a retirement plan, pension plan, or stock-option plan These funds grow over time through compounding interest and become accessible at age 65 Upon reaching this milestone, members receive monthly payments over a 10-year period, providing supplemental retirement income
Why Participate in Deferred Compensation?
Deferred Compensation is an excellent opportunity for PGA Members to build retirement savings while benefiting from activities they may already be engaged in Many PGA Section programs offer Deferred Compensation opportunities, allowing members to earn retirement benefits through their existing contributions This program is the PGA of America’s way of giving back to its members, recognizing their efforts in growing the game while helping them achieve long-term financial stability
Key Benefits of Deferred Compensation:
Retirement Security – Provides a long-term financial cushion for the future
Recognition of Contributions – Rewards members for their leadership, philanthropy, and dedication to growing the game
Career Growth – Encourages professional development and active participation in key PGA programs and educational growth of the game
By participating in Deferred Compensation, PGA Members can strengthen their financial future while continuing to make meaningful contributions to the golf industry
