Conservation Scientist A Conservation Scientist protects Mother Nature. Although often portrayed as powerful and mighty, the truth is: Mother Nature is just as fragile as she is fierce. Therefore, the land must be protected and respected.

Employed by local, state and federal governments, as well as universities, corporations and private landowners, Conservation Scientists accomplish their mission by helping people manage and improve the environment without harming it.

Typically, if you work as a Conservation Scientist, you work in one of two occupations: Land Management or Conservationist.

A Land Manager will specialize in land that is used for livestock grazing, forestry, wildlife protection or recreation. Usually employed by the government, you’re tasked with studying and supervising the land and creating plans that will allow it to be used —for business or pleasure — without harming its wildlife habitants, water resources and vegetation.

Conservationists are split into two areas: soil or water. As a Conservationist you help farmers work their land without destroying it. Concerned with issues such as soil erosion and groundwater contamination, you use science to balance business interests with environmental interests.

No matter what kind of Conservation Scientist you are, your duties are generally the same: You survey land, you study it and then you assist in the creation of plans to preserve and protect it. You’re like Mother Nature’s guardian angel.

Construction is an exciting field with many different career

Carpenter

Carpenters play a significant part to the success of a construction project. They cut, shape, fit and assemble building materials to construct buildings, bridges, highways, docks and industrial plants. Carpenters build with wood, metal, concrete, plastics, composites of multiple materials and more. Following blueprints, they measure, lay out material, and then build foundations, walls, floors, ceilings and roofs. Carpenters may specialize in areas like structural framework, concrete formwork, interior trim and cabinetry, commercial carpentry and

When the camera stops rolling, the lights go dim, and the director proudly yells, “that’s a wrap,” the video editor’s job is just getting started. Crafting hours of raw film and video footage into one concise, compelling product of a few minutes or even a few seconds can be a tremendous but exciting challenge.

The exact sequence chosen by the video editor can often “make or break” a product. The editor is also tasked with cutting unnecessary images or sounds that may hinder the production of the video. They also insert special effects that keep the video engaging. The job sometimes can be tedious, but an outstanding video editor understands how important and rewarding attention to detail can be.

Diesel Mechanic

Diesel mechanics work on anything powered with a diesel engine including trucks, heavy equipment, trains and boats. A career in diesel mechanics may be right for you if you are mechanically inclined and enjoy working with tools and repairing machines. If you choose this career, you must be able to use pneumatic tools, welding and cutting equipment, and hand tools. Diesel mechanics must also have expert knowledge of brake systems, transmissions, electronic components, and computer processors specific to diesel-powered vehicles. Because much of the training is on-the-job, you could enter directly into this career after completing high school. A sous chef reports to an executive chef and is the second in command within a professional kitchen. A sous chef is responsible for food preparation and managing and scheduling kitchen staff, ordering supplies, and planning the menu. Sous chefs can work in a variety of locations ranging from small restaurant kitchens to cruise ships. After successfully completing high school, some students use on-the-job training and hard work to move from entry level kitchen jobs to sous chef positions. Formal education and training through a culinary program prepare a sous chef in all needed areas and offer additional training in sanitation, cooking, and management. If a sous chef aspires to be a head chef, formal training and experience will help reach that goal.
