Reliable representative samples in a very short time Fast, gentle comminution and homogenisation
T
he Knife Mill Pulverisette 11 provides a homogeneous sample in a very short time due to its special design. Each subsample taken from any location in the grinding vessel is representative for the original sample and ensures an exact, significant analysis. And that for a wide range of different materials, regardless of whether the sample is dry, moist, soft, medium-hard, fibrous or oily. It is ideal for sample preparation in the fields of foodstuffs or animal feed testing, agriculture and forestry, biology, pharmaceuticals and chemistry. The perfect accessories for each application The standard knife, which is made of stainless steel, can be used for comminution of nearly all materials due to
its four blades and well-conceived geometry. For comminution of brittle, hard samples we recommend the sickle knife made of stainless steel. The sickle knife with serrated blades is especially ideal for grinding fibrous, tough or sinewy samples, such as fish, meat, asparagus or bamboo. You even have a choice with the 1.4 litre grinding vessels: in addition to the grinding vessel made of scratch-resistant polycarbonate, a grinding vessel made of stainless steel 316L for cryogenic comminution and for grinding harder sample materials is available. Or use the grinding vessel made of glass for food-safe analysis and for verification of polymers. For grinding oily samples and for BPA-free sample preparation, the grinding vessel made of Eastman Tritan Copolyester is recommended. You can configure your Knife Mill Pulverisette 11 to suit your specific application. Autoclavable Vario-Lid system The freely adjustable Vario-Lid system fulfills two important requirements at the same time. It can be used to reduce the grinding chamber volume down to 0.54 litres and to manually compress and loosen up the sample material at the beginning, and at any time, during comminution.

Precise temperature measurement With the wavelength range of 800nm, the PI 08M has an additional advantage, as the measurement error is minimal with unknown or changing emissivity. At high temperatures it is only 1.5% of the measuring value; below 1 500°C just 1%. The measuring range is from 575°C to 1 900°C. The interior of the IR camera holds a dynamic CMOS detector with an optical resolution of up to 764 x 480 pixels, which can be operated with a
Fast cryogenic comminution in a single step Samples which are difficult to grind such as gummi bears, chocolate or plastic toys can be embrittled with liquid nitrogen for comminution directly in the stainless steel 316L grinding vessel. The sample material remains 100% cold. Just select the special lid with the easily exchangeable single-use sieve insert – for reliable protection against contamination.
maximum frame rate of 1kHz, making it highly suitable for very fast processes. A real-time analog output provides an output signal of 0 to 10V. Here the temperature is averaged over an area of 8 x 8 pixels — the position of the area can be selected freely. Optimum integration into the application The new PI 08M can be integrated very easily into a wide range of applications, such as laser welding, laser soldering or laser hardening processes, where temperature plays a key role. The PI 08M comes with a SoftwareDevelopment-Kit.

Operation advantage: Save up to 20 SOPs You can program and save up to 20 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). In each SOP, you can save up to 15 grinding sequences. Via the integrated USB interface, all saved SOPs can be uploaded, exchanged and saved with the free SOP editor by laptop. Simply download the SOP Editor at www.fritsch.de/p-11/sop. Software P-11Control Using the P-11Control software, the mill can be controlled via the integrated USB port. SOPs can be edited, saved and managed directly on the connected laptop via drag & drop. Reversion-proof grinding reports can be created, and archived quickly and easily with the integrated report

Turbine flowmeter for difficult media

Measures up to 1 900°C emperature measurement in processes where lasers are used results in major challenges for infrared measurement technology. For example, the camera needs to be insensitive to the laser’s scattered light. Instrotech, local representative of Optris – a leading manufacturer of non-contact temperature measurement devices – has launched Optris PI 08M, ideally suited to these kinds of applications. It has a very narrow-band spectral sensitivity of 800nm. Most industrial machining lasers, such as for example NIR or CO2 lasers work outside this range, so that the detector is protected against scattered laser light, without additional filters.
parts which come into contact with the sample materials such as the grinding vessel, lid and knife are autoclavable.
obold’s flowmeter model DOT is perfectly suited to measure the flow of low viscous liquids. Thanks to tried and tested turbine wheel technology and robust stainless steel housing, the device can operate at pressure levels up to 250 bar and temperatures of up to 120°C. It can even address the requirements for monitoring or dosing of difficult media such as distilled water, acids, bases, alcohol and additives, as well as several chemical or pharmaceutical compounds. A number of individual measuring ranges between a minimum 0.11m³/h and a maximum 550m³/h can be realised. Versions with even larger diameter and higher measuring ranges are also available. The velocity of the turbine wheel is evaluated (contactless) by the use of a pick-off coil with a magnetic core. Model DOT provides precise results. Independent of medium conductivity, a linearity of ± 0.2% to ± 0.5% of reading, and a repeatability of ± 0.02% to ± 0.05% can be achieved under steady flow conditions. The model DOT flowmeter is available as threaded or flanged version covering diameters of 15 to 150mm.
