I

love that we have a variety of perspectives about the topic of bliss in this edition, as it is an experience that can often be interesting to find words to fully express. In my mid-twenties I remember watching American journalist, Bill Moyers interview Joseph Campbell in a video series, and one video was devoted to the topic of bliss. Not only did this particular video inspire me, the whole video series was completely captivating because of the insightful way the mythology from ancient and modern times was interpreted to explore the different elements/stages of awakening and life. Joseph Campbell coined the term ‘Follow Your Bliss’ and it has always resonated with me and is part of the creation process of Holistic Bliss. Bliss can be experienced as pure joy for no reason and a spaciousness that is

our true nature. It’s not about following the latest and greatest addiction to get the next ‘high’ because as our cover girl Beth Bell shares in the cover story interview, that leaves you on a constant roller coaster ride of highs and lows. For me, bliss is a way of being that has more ease, it’s showing up and being curious in each moment. Even through worldly challenges, there can be a type of bliss as the body releases emotions and pains. And if we allow all of it to be (support can assist too), we move and flow through it all. Sometimes the heart opens up even wider, allowing us to receive all of our life experience with more depth and colour. As HB has grown and more team members have come on board to assist, it has allowed me to explore more projects and move in different directions and this has been opening up to even more fun and creativity. We thank-you once again for being part of the bliss!

Lamb Burgers with Minted Yoghurt WORDS HELEN PADARIN

SERVES: 4 Ingredients: 500g minced lamb (medium-course cut) 150g minced lamb fat or beef fat (ask your butcher) 2 tbsp coconut oil or good quality animal fat (duck fat, tallow, lard, for cooking) 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 onion, finely chopped 1 tbsp tomato paste 2 tbsp Turkish spice mix (see recipe below) 1 tsp sea salt To serve: 2 baby cos lettuce, leaves separated 1 cucumber, halved and thinly sliced lengthways 6 Roma cherry tomatoes, or any type of tomatoes you wish, thinly slice 150g coconut yoghurt tzatziki Method: Heat a large frying pan or saucepan over medium heat with 1½ tablespoons of oil or fat. Add the onions and cook for

10 minutes or until soft and translucent. Add the garlic and cook for a further 1½ minutes to soften. Allow to cool completely before mixing through the mince. To make the patties, combine all of the ingredients including the cooked onions and garlic in a large bowl and mix well to combine. Alternately place the ingredients in an electric mixer with a paddle attachment and mix until combined. Shape into 100g patties and flatten to 7cm in diameter. Cook the lamb patties in a hot pan over medium high heat with the remaining oil for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the meat patty is medium or just cooked through. The patties should have enough seasoning through the mixture so there’s no need to add more salt. To serve, lay out the cos lettuce leaves, then top with slices of cucumber and baby Roma tomatoes. Top with the lamb patty, and spoon some tzatziki over the top.

TURKISH SPICE MIX MAKES: 1¼ cups SHELF LIFE: 12 months 3½ tbsp ground cumin 3 tbsp dried mint 3 tbsp dried oregano 1½ tbsp cracked black pepper 1 tsp chilli powder 3 tbsp paprika Mix all ingredients together to combine. Store in an airtight container until ready to use. On a recent trip to North East Arnhem Land to connect with the Yolngu community there, we came together to cook and share meals. Nothing fancy, just easy to source ingredients, real food recipes, that were delicious and nourishing. One of the favourites were bunless burgers just like these (recipe from my book with chef Pete Evans, The Complete Gut Health Cookbook). Salted Caramel Macadamia Tart WORDS THE MERRYMAKER SISTERS

Oh salted caramel… SERVES: 12 PREP TIME: 1 hr FREEZER TIME: 2 hrs Ingredients: BASE 100g pitted medjool dates 2 cups desiccated coconut 1 cup macadamias ¼ cup coconut oil 1 tsp 100% vanilla extract Pinch of salt FILLING 100g pitted medjool dates ½ cup coconut milk (canned) ½ cup coconut oil ¼ cup tahini 1 tbsp 100% maple syrup (optional) 1 tsp 100% vanilla extract Pinch of salt

FOR THE TOPPING 1 cup macadamia nuts 2 tbsp maple syrup Pinch of salt Method: Start with the topping! Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the macadamia nuts onto the tray, drizzle with maple syrup and sprinkle with salt. Place into the oven for 10 minutes or until just golden, allow to cool completely (don’t taste test them all!). Let’s get onto the tart! Line or grease a 24cm (10 inch) tart tin. Start with the base. Place the dates, coconut oil and vanilla into a blender or food processor, whiz until a smooth paste forms. Add the macadamias, coconut, salt and whiz again until just smooth. Press the base into the tart tin evenly. Don’t forget the sides!

Have you heard of Pyroluria?

Did you know that about 90% of your happy hormone, serotonin is made in your gut? The gut is like the roots of a tree; it absorbs your nutrients and helps you to flourish. But what if you carried bacterias that released neurotoxins, affecting the way your nervous system works and at the same time lowered your nutrient absorption?

It is a metabolic condition characterised by having elevated kryptopyrroles in the urine. These excess pyrroles place demand on nutrients (particularly B6 and zinc). High cortisol is often seen in the acute stages of stress, however, when the stress response is activated too frequently the adrenals can fatigue and produce too little cortisol. Imbalanced cortisol levels are often seen in those suffering with unexplained fatigue, disturbed sleeping patterns, blood sugar level imbalance, increased fat mass, blood pressure issues, brain fog and altered mental performance.

Bonus tart tip: To make your base really strong, be sure to build up the base where the bottom and sides meet. Place into the freezer. Now onto the filling! Place all the ingredients into your blender (no need to rinse) and whiz until smooth. This will take around 5 minutes. Take the base out of the freezer and pour the filling into the base, shake carefully to even out. Evenly place cooled caramel macadamia nuts on top of the filling. Place into the freezer for 2 hours or until set. Once the tart is set, carefully lift out of the tin, slice and enjoy!

How your gut

ecent studies suggest that your gut health can affect your brain health, and even have an impact on your mood and happiness. Let’s take a look at how the mechanics of your gut lead to feelings of bliss. BLISSFUL NEUROTRANSMITTERS You’ve probably heard your gut being referred to as your ‘second brain’. We call it your second brain because each day we are discovering your digestive system is responsible for so many more things than just removal of waste! One way your gut and brain communicates is through chemicals called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters can control your feelings and emotions. Specific microbes in your gut produce the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which actually helps control feelings of fear and anxiety. GABA counteracts over-excitation in the brain, and can slow down neuronal circuitry during times of increased stress. Ideally this promotes a feeling of relaxation and calming bliss.

While GABA is not found in fresh food, fermented foods (such as sauerkraut and kim chi) are the ONLY dietary sources of GABA and can also stimulate your body to produce more of it. Spiced Pear Quinoa Porridge RECIPE THE MERRYMAKER SISTERS

The best thing about cold mornings is PORRIDGE. Ok, and cute jackets and hats. But seriously, porridge ROCKS and will most definitely make your morning oh so MERRY! SERVES: 2 PREP TIME: 10 mins COOK TIME: 20 mins Ingredients: 1 pear grated 1 cup water ½ cup coconut milk (carton) ½ cup quinoa 1 tbsp chia seeds

1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp honey or rice malt syrup 1 tsp 100% vanilla extract ½ tsp nutmeg Toppings: Nut butter Chopped nuts Extra pear Method: Rinse the quinoa under cold running water until the water runs clear. Add the quinoa and water to a saucepan, bring to the boil, cover

and lower the heat to simmer for 10 minutes. The water will absorb. Add the milk, pear, chia, vanilla, sweetener, spices and stir. Cook and stir for a further 5-7 minutes or until the quinoa is nice and soft. Spoon into bowls and serve with pretty toppings! MERRYMAKER TIP... Don’t like pear? ecently I was privileged to go and sit in a seminar at the ‘Australian Homeopathic Conference’ and listen to Jill Turland as she explained her research on mega-potencies in homeopathy. Homeopathy, if you don’t already know, has been around for about 250 years. It was discovered by Samael Hahnemann who used a theory that was around for many thousands of years before that. He believed we all have the capability to heal one’s self; if the body and mind make us sick then they should be able to make ourselves better. B

odywork is the time I set aside for myself to delve into inner space and silence, to be totally with myself. I can let my senses take over and drift on pure sensation. For many people, massage and bodywork have become an important factor in their health management and receiving bodywork from an individual trained in innate awareness, is a truly unforgettable experience. My initial training in massage was at an institution specialising in mainstream massage techniques. After practising these techniques for several years, I was bored and my body strained, so I was more than ready to find a more sustainable and effortless way to work when I came across a Kahuna Bodywork demonstration at a health expo in Brisbane. I undertook some training here in Australia and fell in love with the principles that supported the bodywork. I then discovered that the Kahuna who developed the bodywork was still alive and living in Hawaii, so I

booked a place in a workshop with him and spent the four intervening months working hard to afford my adventure. Upon arriving at the Kahuna’s home, I quickly realised that I wasn’t there just to learn bodywork, I was there to learn about myself, to contain, redirect and expand my energies. The primary training in Kahuna Bodywork is improving awareness of oneself in motion. The Kahuna presented the trainings in an ancient spiritual format (all about observation of oneself without judgment or intent). We practised a flowing sequential set of movements set to a particular rhythm and using a variety of speeds called Ka’alele au or ‘flying’. The repetitious and physical nature of Ka’alele au presents the individual with an opportunity to become aware of the physical effects of one’s concepts and belief systems. The body responds to the directives of the mind and when one’s focus centres upon the body in motion, we

arrive at a point in time when we can either step across the line by changing how we do a thing or stay within the restricted confines of our patterns. A unique and realistic approach to mature self responsibility. We learn best when we learn from ourselves and we never forget those lessons. From this foundation, a bodyworker learns to tune in to another’s situation through the lens of their own experience, to sense the rhythm and different speeds needed to initiate and modify motion. The better we know ourselves, the more compassionate we are of the situations of others. The deeper we delve into ourselves, the broader our perspective, increasing our flexibility for situational resolution. potential for bliss

T

he last few years have seen such a deep shift in awareness with more people choosing to reveal who they are, do what they love and drop more into their soul. The Holy Grail for many is to experience bliss. There have been many ways to reach this state, some healthy and some destructive. I keep coming back to the reality that everything we seek resides within. Our responsibility is to access these states, and there are so many simple ways to do this. Witnessing personal transformations gives great hope, and moves us closer to experiencing heightened happiness which we call bliss, a state of being that exists and is available. The soul is steady, observant, guiding us to listen to the calls to action. Creating a life of bliss, which many of us seem to think is a result of hard effort, is a simple process which we can access in a heartbeat. I know there are people in unfortunate situations, due to where they have been born on earth, hardship

is a daily beating for them, so finding these elevated states is not a priority as much as survival, maybe that is a state of bliss for these souls. When we are fully present to our life, engaged in the senses of the now, the world offering to us the moments of connection and joy, a doorway to experience bliss is opened. No matter how many lemons are falling in your lap, how much drama or negativity seems to be blocking your life, there is always a heartbeat, a breath, where you can connect to gratitude for what is, and that will open that door once again, even if just a glimpse, the reminder of bliss is available. I have found over the last couple of years a simple process of staying in an elevated state of gratitude. This is a responsibility, an action you can bring into your life anytime of the day, as many times of the day as you like, and it takes only a few seconds to reset, lift your vibration, soothe your mind, open

your heart, and allow you to respond to life, not to react. Close your eyes, place your hand on your heart, take a breath and say. “What am I grateful for, right now?” Then open your eyes, no matter what is in front of you, offer a verbal gratitude. This action when repeated several times a day, lifts your personal vibration to that of gratitude, you are immersed in that frequency. As we know, gratitude brings many wondrous aligned experiences, abundance, opportunities and invitations to us. This can be done in a shopping centre, dropping kids at school, at work, doing your exercise, waiting for someone, cleaning your house, hanging out clothes, whatever you are doing, you have the opportunity to offer gratitude… this brings us presence, allowing us to move towards bliss in our life. www.raelenebyrne.com

any times, people will complain that they are exhausted or need a holiday. They daydream of a picnic in the mountains or walking along the beach and having the waves lap at their feet. These subtle but powerful feelings are the body talking to you to say “Stop. Time to find joy in life.” So why don’t we listen to our body? Is it the society we live in? When the body becomes SICK that is when we take notice and investigate activities that will make us feel joy. Let’s investigate 5 tips to have your body feeling bliss: 1. SLEEP Sleep is a time when your body rests, regenerates and creates new cells in a quiet and relaxed way. Lack of sleep will create fatigue and adrenal exhaustion. Sleep allows the mind and body to create a chemical balance and therefore the body will feel better. 2. FOOD The body thrives on unprocessed foods such as fruits, vegetables and alive food. The digestive tract can digest food better when food is unprocessed.

When we digest food, it takes a lot of energy and can have you feeling zapped especially if it is heavy, processed and high in carbohydrates. You will have an initial high and then your sugar levels will drop, leaving you feeling tired and unable to focus. 3. WATER Our body is made of 85-95% water. We can easily become dehydrated from air-conditioning, emotions, and activities such as exercise. When the body is dehydrated, it leads to hormonal imbalance, headaches, tiredness, mood changes and constipation. Flavour your water with a slice of lemon, orange or strawberry. Always carry a water bottle with you and that way you can drink anytime. 4. EXERCISE Our bodies were meant to move and keep active. This simple action creates a homeostasis in the body that balances all chemical reactions, all movement in the body such as the heart valves pumping, and balances hormonal production. Exercise of any sort (whether it be walking, going to the gym, dance

or riding a horse) releases endorphins or ‘happy hormones’ that stimulate you feeling great about yourself. 5. BE CREATIVE Your body thrives when you have a chance to be creative. Finding your flow WORDS KIM KOROHEKE

W

e often hear people say they are just going with the flow but who’s flow are they actually in? Their own or someone else’s? Finding our own flow in life can not only bring us greater productivity but increased happiness and overall wellbeing. When we are following an unknown flow, we are not truly operating from our own unique rhythm and we may not necessarily be aligned with our own gifts and talents. We may just be going along for the ride. While it may seem carefree and fluid, it can create a feeling of dis-ease and discomfort for some who don’t quite feel they are being and doing what they came here to be. Sort of like living someone else’s dream. So what do I mean by flow? Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a Hungarian-American psychologist, discovered that people find genuine satisfaction during a state of consciousness called flow. In this

state, they are completely absorbed in an activity, especially an activity which involves their creative abilities. During this ‘optimal experience’ they feel ‘strong, alert, in effortless control, unselfconscious, and at the peak of their abilities’. The benefits of finding our own flow are numerous including overall productivity but one of the key gains is happiness. When we discover what creates more bliss in our life, we naturally feel more contentment. We have more zest for life. We begin to live in a way that is not only sustainable but generative as well. Once we find our flow it has the capacity to enter all areas of our life. Suddenly we have this experience that we want to permeate through everything that we do and we can begin to make the changes towards increased health and wealth. Mastering our own flow also makes us more stable to be able to ride waves

of collective energy that we are all a part of. Living on our beautiful, amazing planet is increasingly challenging and at the same time, we have the power to create and effect change. Getting into our own conscious flow is definitely one way to stay grounded, ride the waves and have some fun and bliss while we are doing it. TIPS TO FINDING YOUR FLOW: 1. Abandon other people’s rules of how to do things. There is no right and wrong way. 2. Avoid comparing yourself to others. Judgments and comparisons will kill your flow. 3. If it feels light, then it’s right for you. 4. Identify what restricts your flow and avoid or remove these things from your space, if possible. 5. hat is your bliss? It’s the happy place, the place where you find pleasure, joy and passion. It’s freedom of mind, body and soul! It allows you to feel light, purposeful and abundant all at the same time. How do you get there? Start listening to your body for answers, check in with yourself what gives you joy, lights up your eyes and gives you energy. If you’ve lost it, the previous sentence has clues in it for you to find passion and the love of life again. Self-love and loving life is where your bliss is, I call it my sweet spot, that place where I am full of confidence, energised by what I do and enthusiastic about where my life is heading. The need to be authentic, walk my walk and talk my talk, is a formula that is easy to

use. It’s a balanced way of life! How do you maintain your blissful feeling? Appreciation for what is. A gratitude for everything, oblivious to everything else, it’s like watching things play out on a film strip, the drama or ego is taken out of the equation. The Universe matches all that we have a connection to. Like a magical magnet, our bliss that we identify with comes back to us amplified. Everyone’s bliss is different. I’m single now but in the past I wouldn’t have felt okay with being on my own, now I love me and my life. I haven’t let it harden me, I still have an overwhelming heartbased love and gratitude for life and I worked on releasing everything so my heart would stay open and light. Feelings of freedom, appreciation, joy, happiness, warms my heart. Helping

people, guiding and teaching, sharing my wisdom and knowledge about the spiritual world is not only my bliss but it’s my life purpose, it is what I am here on Earth to do. That is my bliss; I finally found it after many years of dodging spirit, and self-sabotaging, playing the victim. All the work I did on myself led me to find my bliss, my sweet spot. It’s internal and I got there out of the desperate need to alter my life path. You can too, find the things you love, and do more of that. O

ur lives are so much more than the Instagram posts we share. While social media can portray a ‘magical life’, our ‘true magic’ comes from the courageous choices we make, and the deep breaths we take, as we face our fears and take just one ‘next step’ forward. This year I feel a palpable courage I’ve never known before. I’m standing tall, proud of the human I am, open, surrendered, fierce and willing to move towards whatever ‘changes’ will bless this planet most. My updated agreement with myself is this: I won’t stay hiding or shrink back permanently when I feel afraid or others judge me. Like the moon I will rise again, relentlessly shining my ever changing light into the world. This past year I’ve continued to use Family Constellations to discover the stories of my ancestors. This rich work

gives me so much strength, it heals me. I am no longer afraid of being alone and I find myself celebrating this beautiful life and my unique place in it. For most of my life, my loyalties to ‘belong’ were so strong, I chose to camp upon the banks of survival and fear. Those banks had been a safe place for my ancestors, so I decided to stay there too. I told myself “that’s what love does”, it stays and suffers with others. Now I know love never asks us to suffer in this way or to give up our joy in order to belong. Love simply yearns to take us to the other side of the river where the grass grows lush and green and it is safe to be happy and enjoy life. You and I are the same. It’s our shared destiny to cross the river and use the gifts our ancestors gave us. But it’s time to make friends with joy and give ourselves permission to love the lives we live.

Standing here, looking back, I bow to my ancestors for all they have given. My grateful heart acknowledges the war is finally over. Enough has been paid. My daughters’ hearts beat with the love of all who came before them, they will live a different life because of my courage. Your courage is calling you too… Can you hear it? I invite you to listen. frequency of bliss

liss is synonymous with happiness, however what if we took a different perspective? Is happiness really everlasting? We live in a world of opposites, if we are happy, then we can be guaranteed to eventually know the suffering, or a loss that steals away our happiness. The solution is not about the renunciation of this world, for whether we feel attached to this world of objects and form, or renounce the world of form, both are functions giving our power away; that the things of this world can affect us. What if the perspective taken to create a state of bliss is now through peace and grace. This form of bliss can be everlasting. Inner peace can allow us to transcend the laws of this world through miracles. A miracle is stated to be that holy instant where we choose peace over suffering. It is simple yet not always easy. Discipline eventually creates the peace and grace where we experience

more and more bliss, this then becomes our natural selection. When we recognise the world we see holds nothing that we want, we can begin to transcend this world, we turn around and begin undoing what used to create suffering. Guilt keeps us stuck here, what if guilt is an illusion of irrational thought, which is disordered thought. Guilt is a sure sign that your thinking is unnatural. Guilt feelings are always a sign you do not know this. Every disordered thought is attended to by guilt at its inception, and maintained by guilt in its continuance. Any decision of the mind will affect both behaviour and experience. This is not delusional. Your mind does make your future, and it will turn it back to full creation at any minute you choose peace first. Having given up disordered thought, the proper ordering of thought becomes quite apparent. This is the step we ask for help, and frequency technologies support this

step. There are many modalities and people to support us along this journey, you will know which is the correct path by the lightness of being when making the selection, there is no right or wrong within what is available to support us. Some paths bring peace faster. My purpose is to bring humanity the quickest route back home to our natural state of peace within. ho would have thought going on a holiday to Hawaii and buying a new camera, would be the catalysts to a life transformation! That’s exactly what happened to US entrepreneur, Beth Bell and as she started to take photos of flowers on her holiday, bliss literally unfolded in front of her eyes. It wasn’t easy being a ‘corporate 20

high flyer’ and acknowledging that she was receiving messages from flowers, although she came to realise the flowers were a portal to connect to divine inner wisdom. Next thing she knew, she was using her exquisite photos of flowers to create small flower photo albums for friends and they became coffee table talking pieces. From inspired coffee table conversations to adventures overseas,

Beth’s journey continued to unfold with synchronicity. In 2008 she left her corporate work and travelled the world with one of her last stops in Bali. love to be infused into all her products, so it was a perfect collaboration. Beth returned to her corporate job for a short time which included moving to Singapore. All the while… her brand ‘Blossom Bliss’ was getting ready to be birthed and Bali was calling her again… she described it as Mother Nature taking her in and the energy enveloping her, allowing her to feel cared for and connected. What was meant to be a three-month trip to Bali became a fiveand-a-half years’ stay and she closed the door on her corporate career. “We never quite know how the Universe is going to give us our twists and turns. I like to think I flow with the flowers and I feel like they have been the inspiration for a lot of my intuitive risks and big jumps I have taken in my life. It’s been a strong vibrational source of messages and encouragement to help me live my life’s passion. And bliss was born from that. And I use it as an acronym because I feel bliss is pure love and so it’s: B: Beautiful, L: Long lasting, I: Irreplaceable, S: Spiritual and S: Still. That’s how bliss came about for me and I felt that was experienced in relationship with people and also to flowers,” she said. For Beth, Bliss is not about being on a roller coaster ride with euphoric highs and bottoming out with emotional lows. It’s more about the blissful state of neutrality so our environment is not triggering us to have such a negative reaction and feeling. “And that’s where Mother Nature comes in and it silences my mind and brings peace in. Just watch a flower in nature! And it doesn’t even have to be in nature, I can have that same reminder and feeling looking at a picture of a flower,” she shared.

It wasn’t long before Beth was inspired to create a beautiful shop selling all her uplifting ‘Blossom Bliss’ products in Ubud, Bali, and one day a customer was so inspired by her story that she encouraged Beth to create a blog. That suggestion stirred something in Beth’s soul, so she went home and researched blogging and also had a whole lot of other ideas come to mind, including TV and podcasting to share the bliss with more people around the world. Shortly after this, she was invited on a radio show and it hit her that she really wanted to create her own radio show. And that’s when the ‘Beth Bell radio show’ on ‘Voice America’ and ‘iHeartRadio’ was born. And Beth was thrilled to showcase people and products in the areas of consciousness and personal development to empower others to live their purpose. More recently, Beth felt a calling to head back to her homeland and create a ‘Pollinating the planet with love’ on the road tour. “Politically there is unrest here in the US and I find it sad. I am not a Trump advocate but I do find some of what’s going on here somewhat inspiring, in that if Trump can become President, then anything is possible. And when I look at it from a spiritual rather than a political perspective, I feel that if all light workers could believe in

themselves in the same way he does (not that we would do the same things he is doing) it would literally change the world overnight. Just that one lesson in itself can help us to start looking within so we can see how we can make a difference, because just complaining about a system or political group doesn’t move the needle on the perspective. Also, what if we acknowledged that we can’t make a mistake, there is just another choice.” So it’s exciting to hear Beth bought a Cargo Van and converted it into a recording studio to do the interviews around America with conscious entrepreneurs and key influencers who shine their light and share love. A big goal of the tour is to help people come back to an awareness that they really are creating their lives and they can change their destiny no matter what has happened in the past. It’s when we observe more and allow ourselves to be in the ‘now’ or in the ‘flow’ that we can start to see and feel the magical alignments and synchronicities happening.

EXPECT NOTHING! This is a tough one. It’s totally counterintuitive to what we’re programmed to believe. However, when we do things from a heart-centred place, especially in our business lives, we make a big difference. liss! It’s a feeling, a way of thinking and being, but mostly it’s a very high vibrational frequency. You are the physical manifestation of the non-physical energy that is made up of all kinds of vibrational frequencies – the frequency of love, of hate, of sadness, of grief, of happiness and even something as ordinary as the frequency of satisfaction. Let’s think of these feelings or emotions as streams of energy and just like you would a river or stream of water, you can dive in for a swim at any time. In fact, let’s for just a moment, imagine that every emotion and the thoughts connected to it are a likeminded gathering of vibrating energies with a common goal. And just imagine that these streams of like-minded vibrating energies, let’s call them streams of consciousness, are in the air all around us. As we walk through our day, we travel through thousands of these energy streams.

Bliss is there but so is despair. The consciousness stream of love is there, as is the stream of hate. Let’s also imagine that you, as the physical manifestation of energy are also a like-minded gathering of vibrating energies with the common goal of being the unique you that you are. Right now, you are living by a set of vibrational standards that have been set by the life you have lived up to this point. You are mostly comfortable in your vibrational set point, you’ve gotten used to the frequency and pitch of it and it is comforting to return to it after dipping into a lower or higher stream… you stay safe in your practised vibration. Then one day you hear something, or read something (perhaps what you are reading here) and you think to yourself ‘what if this is true!’ ‘What if I can step in another direction and dip into another stream of consciousness?’ This is your choice point.

You can choose to step into the vibrational frequency of bliss right now. Just take a breath, inhale the bliss that is in the air all around you, within the stream of consciousness, take a breath and be bliss. Here’s a quick and simple exercise to help you manifest and embody the frequency of bliss within you. Breathe in through your nose and follow the breath to your heart space. Next breathe out through your mouth and say aloud or to yourself ‘let there be bliss in the world’. Breathe in again through your nose, following the breath to your heart and say ‘and let it start with me’. Repeat for 2 to 3 minutes and allow the frequency of bliss to penetrate your physical form. Your

empath gifts in relationships

any lightworkers/intuitives/ energy sensitives have powerful ‘empath’ gifts. After all, they are here to use this super power to serve in love – self-love; relationship love and in service. Where empaths seem to fall down in life and love is recognising that for love to flow in its highest vibration, they must practise receiving as much as they give. Not recognising this important point, can create so many problems and confusion for empaths. Many empaths love to give and help others, it is in their innate nature and very few balance out how much they give with what they receive from others. They give and give and give to others in order for them to be happy; and some give and give in order to be loved in return. Rarely do they give to themselves or find themselves or allow themselves to receive or be helped. In order for their relationships to improve or attract the right lover into their life, they must recognise where they are

blocking love coming in. As an empath, you will know your life is unbalanced when: • You feel drained by your relationship/ family/friends; • When it is always about everyone else and not about you; • You find yourself giving all the time but cannot/do not receive from others; • You find it difficult to ask anyone for help; • You can feel resentful for all that you give but do not receive in return; • You feel pulled in so many directions trying to please everyone; • You may suffer from anxiety, depression or other chronic illnesses; • You used to give so much to others that you now find you isolate yourself and are on your own; • You may find that you are more of your partner’s parent, coach or counsellor rather than their lover; • You find yourself waiting for a lover to return;

• Struggle to accept life on earth (not necessarily suicidal but just struggle to be in this realm). There are a number of keys to help the empath turn their situations around, and today I will briefly mention two: 1. Connect with Spirit – empaths can feel particularly lonely on Earth. To start feeling more supported they can connect with spirit guides and this can be very reassuring and comforting when starting to open up and acknowledge many empath gifts. 2. Remember you have not failed – many empaths feel beaten because they have given so much and have not ‘changed’ or healed others. Depending upon their environment, they will either follow through with those dreams, change direction or simply give up and settle for less.

Often, this is because someone in their life made a comment, “You’ll never be any good as a dancer/actor/ doctor” and they believed them. Can you relate to this? do not know about you, but lately some days have been haywire, when the energy shifts, all hell breaks loose. It seems like nothing is going right, your mind starts making stories up and then has the audacity to perpetuate the story and make those self-effacing stories even worse! You know the feeling, when a memory pops in that you have not thought of for years, but there it is and you can’t let it go. Let it rise within, so you can work through the feelings that come with it. Lately for me it was two things, one was guilt, the other shame. I was feeling ashamed of decisions and choices I made long ago, which have repercussions now. All you can do is suffer through the anxiety and negative thoughts. To release, you must talk to someone, or failing that, write it down. The only way to move on is to get the negativity

out of your head. Give your thoughts a voice, that way they are free to dissipate, when they are no longer captive to your mind, those thoughts become way less significant. Once they are out, you can truly look at them objectively, to allow a new perspective. Now back to business, as you know I work for myself, I have done for the last 12 years. Working for myself has been the most incredible rewarding thing I have ever done. I have to admit, over the years I have been depressed where I could not stop crying for about three years, I have been heartbroken and experienced what some call the dark night of the soul, all this, while working for myself. And you know what I did to get through? I accepted the phase I was in and honoured it. I did not realise the extent of my depression until I was coming out of it.

The days where I didn’t feel like functioning, I would move clients. Or the other thing that used to happen was, when I was with clients, all of my stuff would disappear until I was finished with them and then it would return! My point is, you are human, you are at the mercy of the ebb and flow of life. If you don’t feel like working today, then don’t! Honour yourself! It’s that simple. The world is not going to end, your clients or colleagues will survive a change in schedule and you will give them your best when you do see them. Regrow your teeth and gums? Really? WORDS SHAUNA TEAKEN

Y

our mouth is a gateway to the health of your body. Research has shown that at least 80% of all disease in the body has at least a partial connection to the mouth. When you get clear with your mouth, the rest of the body benefits greatly. The mouth is a place where literally millions of energies can get stuck lifetime after lifetime. And, if you think about it, the mouth is a part of so many different survival aspects of the body. We communicate with the mouth, we get nourishment with the mouth, you have sex with the mouth, and you can breathe through the mouth. The two major dental issues are tooth decay and gum disease. A lot of people have plaque, which is that pithy white film on the teeth that hardens up and when you go to the dentist, has to be scraped off. Surprisingly, our bodies have within

them a particular micro-organism whose job it is to actually take care of and dissipate the plaque in our mouth. These are very minute organisms and they literally cannot be found under a microscope – they could be found under an atomic microscope but there is no dental researcher that has actually looked for them. Why? Because they do not have the point of view that there is actually an organism that is beneficial to taking care of plaque and calculus. They assume that plaque must always be removed! Periodontal disease, or gum disease, has to do with plaque and calculus build-up, and gum disease can be reduced by the removal of plaque and calculus. With ‘Happy Mouth’, we have a process to re-activate these little organisms that handle plaque. Some of the other dormant generative systems we can activate are: to generate healthy tooth structure if

you have wear or decay on a tooth, regenerate bone, ways to have a new tooth show up if you are missing a tooth, and also a ‘Youthening’ system for the whole body. It’s a hands-on system of points on the head which your practitioner gently massages to activate dormant systems which allow the body to repair itself – including teeth, gums, bone, lymphatic, salivary, TMJ and other systems. When we are allowed to meet ourselves in this manner, a whole host of changes, on all levels, can occur. The therapy is holistic – taking the entirety of the person into account and relaying information in the most appropriate fashion for that individual. It can be taken literally, or metaphorically. While it may appear that the practitioner is leading the session, they are actually considered more of a tour guide to the subconscious mind. Amos says the higher self is truly at the helm. “It takes them from the finite aspect of themselves (who they are in this lifetime) to the infinite, where they get to visit other lifetimes, other life expressions, sometimes they feel that they are in another body even though they know they are still in the room with me. Sometimes they perceive a place ‘in between’ and only see colours, or experience sensations. It shows the person how limitless and loved they are, especially when the higher self comes through and they can hear their own voice (on the recording) talking about things they would never have known.” In this form of regression, an individual is relaxed into a meditative Theta Brainwave state – somewhere between the day dreaming alpha and the deep sleep of delta waves – the light

trance we experience upon falling asleep or waking up. This transition lulls the rapid-fire chatter of our left brain and allows us greater access to the boundless capacity of our right brain. At this point, we begin tapping into all that is our natural and intuitive self. Psychologists will refer their patients to QHHT therapists, like Amos, to address issues of depression, self-esteem, life-purpose, relationships, chronic pain, illness, or fears surrounding death. If our thoughts create our reality and our emotions manifest in our bodies it is no wonder the silhouette of the past reflects so prominently in our present. Amos says the shift in consciousness is interesting. When the higher self makes an appearance, the persona of the individual can alter slightly, becoming very serious, warm, clinical, or even very comical. As well, the individual will often adjust their physical posture, sitting up straighter to accommodate the influx of elevated energy. It is often at this stage that Amos will ask if the session-holder’s issue can be healed at this time. “Sometimes the higher self will say ‘yes’, and there is reaction soon after the session. If the answer is ‘no’ there may be an explanation why, or what needs to be done before the healing can take place. It is amazing how the person already has

everything within them and what the higher self can do…” Some of the most powerful past life glimpses can involve scenarios where a current day individual, possessing low self-esteem, can see that at one point they experienced life as a self-assured, successful person. Someone who feels they will never find like-minded individuals can see that they have it in them to attract a community of love, support and friendship. Amos says the benefits of these experiences, of seeing our worth and potential, can set a new tone for life. any people ask me, “What is it that you do? What is dowsing?” For me, dowsing is not just about finding a place to drill or dig a well or about finding anything in the physical world. It’s about detecting energies. It’s about tapping into our own given ability to explore the world of subtle energies that are everywhere within and around us. When we harmonise these energies, we are creating our own energetic environment. Not only does it work, I consider it the most powerful force in the universe. Anyone can learn the natural intuitive skill of dowsing. The first thing to realise is that dowsing is simple to do, and it’s something everyone can do, naturally. Once you learn dowsing, you can use it to get valuable answers to your questions about money, health,

relationships, business, career and lots of other subjects. Your brain doesn’t have all the answers you need to make your life great. If you learn to dowse accurately, you expand your intelligence and your success in life. There are a lot of misconceptions about what dowsing is. Some people think it’s a weird, rare psychic ability. Others think it’s like a magic wand where you wave a pendulum and it gives you answers or even can heal or change reality to suit you. Dowsing takes the ability we all have and makes it far more useful. Instead of waiting to get an intuitive ‘hit’, dowsing allows you to ask precise questions about, well, anything at all. And then you get the answer. We came a long way from the traditional water dowsing with a Y fork. These methods are still used today very successfully to find water, oil, gas and

other tangible assets. But what about the intangible assets like geopathic stress, ley lines, sprits, ghosts, Wi-Fi radiation and other subtle energies which affect us in our daily lives but can’t be seen? Some people certainly can feel them and it will ‘drain’ their energies and even lead to sickness. Through using active dowsing, we are able to locate and find these detrimental energies and then transmute and change them to make them beneficial. My

insightful experience with cancer

I

didn’t realise I had breast cancer until I completed a medical examination to be a foster carer through ‘Life Without Barriers’ 18 months ago. I had been a nurse for years and an energy facilitator most of my life, I was not someone who was ill and I felt healthy with no symptoms of disease. Initially I felt maybe it was a cyst or something benign. Once diagnosed, I received information from the tumour and I asked what it was doing there. After more testing, the doctors discovered it was an invasive type of cancer sitting on my rib wall (although was not in the muscle, bone or lung). My first thought was, “wow, how blessed am I? I’ve caught it early, it could have been much worse!” My intent was to get this cleared and ‘pure source’ laid out what was to happen. First of all, I chose to have a lumpectomy as natural methods were too slow for where the tumour was sitting and I also required radiation.

I let my children, family and friends know what was happening and they were mostly optimistic. One friend told others of my ‘tragic’ news. I asked her to ring them all back and explain how I was really feeling about it. I was well looked after by the caring medical staff, the surgery was well executed and the scarring small. I did feel sad and vulnerable and became more sensitive to others’ feelings and illnesses. I noticed while waiting one day at the hospital there is an energy connected with people and cancer around the world. I always cleared this energy each morning. My diet changed, due to certain foods locking in oestrogen in the body and promoting cancer and I took natural supplements as radiation was tiring. I thought about it constantly and as I raised my young family in the early 2000s I knew the timing would be right when it presented itself. And when we moved from NZ to Australia it certainly did. Hormonal harmony:

Wisdom over testing

Y

ou are a dynamic being and so too is the state of your hormones. Do you experience hormonal symptoms, but your blood tests come back ‘normal’? Your hormones change dramatically throughout your cycle (even postmenopause – you continue to ‘ebb and flow’) and tests can be ‘hit and miss’ and unreliable, whilst the core drivers of your imbalance have been overlooked. Your ovaries are in constant conversation with your pituitary gland who dictate hormone production. Your pituitary also is receiving feedback from your adrenals (stress hormones like cortisol) and thyroid. If your hormones are out of balance, it is likely other systems are as well. The drivers of hormonal imbalance are usually multiple, and an holistic approach is necessary to heal and bring yourself to balance. The most common disruptors to hormonal health are: stress (depleted nervous system and over-stimulated adrenal glands), imbalanced blood sugars (too high or

too low), chemical and liver overload/ detoxification issues, inadequate nutrition for healthy hormone production, thyroid dysfunction, sleep issues and insomnia, viruses, parasites, trauma to the womb (emotional and/or physical), and a lack of feminine, creative or self-love practice. Now, in the short-term, a prescription for synthetic hormones like the oral contraceptive pill (OCP), hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and even bio-identical hormones may potentially assist with symptomatic relief, however, the causes of the imbalance have not been addressed, resulting in a Band-Aid effect and often potential side effects. If you are taking the OCP to manage symptoms like heavy menstruation or acne, you will no longer ovulate, and for the duration you take the medication, your body will not be producing the natural, healthy progesterone it normally would. Progesterone really kicks in during the second half of our cycle, and with it brings many benefits. Progesterone

thins the lining of the uterus (it decreases the volume of menstrual fluid and helps prevent large clots forming), is anti-inflammatory, calming (works in a similar way to GABA in the brain), improves sleep, enhances thyroid hormone production (hence a rise in body temperature) and plays an important role in hair and bone health. If you are no longer menstruating, you also want optimal progesterone levels as well as adequate oestrogen (not too high or too low in ratio to progesterone) otherwise you may experience some of the symptoms listed above as well as hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, emotional instability, depression, hair loss, vaginal dryness and so on. ome of us are continually working towards a healthy, happy and balanced life. For some, when embarking on this journey, it’s difficult to know where to begin. Where are the guideposts? What defines a man and what is his role in life? These are two major questions we are challenged with on the journey towards mature masculinity. We all have problems, obstacles and behaviours which stop our purpose. Deep inside there is a yearning: how can I be connected, feel included and be more loving in my world? Many men are lonely, lost and needing direction. They often experience feeling relatively safe and secluded in hiding from their fellow men and community. They invariably put on a mask when interacting with their world. The mask is central to their survival in the world. We are a person and there is our personality. The word

personality is derived from the Greek meaning ‘mask’. It’s what I put on for others to see. Using the mask is about survival and diving down into my hiding places. It’s like always having one foot ready to go to the door to leave. Is now the time to heal, grow and share your light to the world? Is it time to remember who I truly am as a man among men and help other men to also find this place? Am I taking care of myself? Am I losing my heart which includes my awareness and forgetting connection and vulnerability? It’s OK to have feelings and show them. Becoming authentic engenders acceptance and enables the love of others. To do this requires taking off the masks and taking a chance to be vulnerable and let others see the real me. The journey of life is putting all the pieces together – physical, emotional

The

healing power of love

I

n 2003, in a dream, my spiritual guide told me that I came into this lifetime with a karmic condition manifesting itself as cancer of the liver. I would leave this world when I reached 56. At the time I received this lifechanging message I was 54. In the dream I said, “So be it, help me over when the time comes! But, if I can work through this karma, show me how.” I saw myself lying in a beautiful long open boat, with no rudder or oars. I was alone, carried by the current of spirit into a milky-white landscape, merging into the light, bathed by a sweet soft sound. I emerged from the healing sitting upright, renewed and smiling; I knew I would live. Not long after, I was bitten by ticks and told it would be necessary for my body’s immunity to be built up. By 56 my symptoms were worse and I was diagnosed with a thyroid autoimmune condition for which I was given medication. I developed chronic fatigue and my

health deteriorated further. I could no longer do most of the things I had enjoyed until then, such as painting and writing. Spirit came to me in another dream in the guise of Agatha Christie’s character Poirot. He came to tell me he had to investigate, people were dying of an unknown cause. “We’ll first check out your water tank, mademoiselle,” he said. Following the dream’s advice, I bought a water filter and began in earnest, research into my health problem. Through the spiritual practices suggested by the teachings of Eckankar, the spiritual path I follow, and by chanting HU (pronounced hue) daily for 20 minutes I began to improve. HU is an ancient name for God and a form of non-directive prayer. The healing power of love does conquer fear; I discovered the causes behind the karmic conditions stemming from past lives.

I interpreted both tick bites and illness as divine messages, encouraging me to face my fear of death. Understanding and forgiveness is the key, as long as I remained faithful to my spiritual goals, everything would be resolved through love, and realising I am here to let others know about the light and sound of God. With this understanding, the grey cloud of death was lifted from me and I began to heal. Recently, following inner guidance, I bought a magazine containing an article about the Epstein Bars viruses. Following the author’s protocol for the past two years, I am off medication, managing my health better and getting my life back on track. Every day is a blessing, and I am happily painting and writing again, as well as enjoying my new grandchildren. www.eckankarqld.org.au
