introduction
Come and Join the Fun!
Fáilte is fiche go féile pobal ealaíne an Aonaigh. Is mian le SPLEODAR bheith mar sholas geal ar oícheanta dorcha an gheimhridh le fuinneamh is le hobair chruthaíochta. Tá imeachtaí beartaithe againn do ghach aois. Mar sin beidh áit ann duitse más suim leat aon ghné den ealaín pobail - rince, spraoí, ceol, ceardaíocht . . . Beimid ag súil le buaileadh leat le linn na féile. The dark days of winter are approaching. And when they do, it’s important not just to head home and hibernate, but to get out and take part in some community activities. The Spleodar Festival is one of those events that can bring the whole community together. Remember, Hallowe’en in Ireland is a special time, a time when we traditionally gather to create some light and noise to scare away whatever is scaring us. Arts activities, are the perfect means by which this light and noise can be achieved. Because the Arts tend to shine light into the dark corners and make music and sound that can fill any empty space. The Spleodar Festival is in its eleventh year and this year we have our ongoing mix of Arts activities, performances and workshops. You could learn how to build a rocket, find out how sounds are made, watch a circus tumble and find out where the ‘Goldilock’s Zone’ is. Every event has a fun element to it and every event just begs you to come in and get involved. Whether you’re six, sixteen or sixty, you get can a little bit of that Spleodar feeling sloshing around that old heart of yours. Together we can create some memories that will last forever.

‘…not too hot, not too cold but just right…’ “Sharp patter … an ear for the high-flying inanities of public speechifying and an eye for visual gags that are genuinely laughable.” The Herald “pleasingly low-tech props and a rather shambolic approach,… hit a perfect note with audiences.” Spotlight “joyous and fun, creating entertainment from tough ideas” The Skinny Presented by RW International in association with Legitimate Bodies Dance Company
This is a zany and hilarious space journey by two unique and outlandish physical performers. How can they make sense of the mind-boggling distance to be travelled, land their spacecraft safely and use their charm to invite themselves to alien parties? First performed last year at Cork Midsummer and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and with design by celebrated artist Sean Hillen, ‘The Goldilocks Zone’ is a work for all age groups and species.

Dir: Tim Burton USA 1990 Starring: Johnny Depp, Vincent Price, Kathy Baker, Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest The small-minded community of a quiet suburb is rocked when an Avon lady (Wiest) fosters Edward Scissorhands (Depp), the unfinished experiment of local Frankenstein, (Vincent Price). A pallid, wild-haired innocent with a heart of gold and fingers of steel, Scissorhands becomes the neighbourhood’s personal freakshow. He fascinates with his dextrous ability (as hairdresser, ice-sculptor etc.) but he is never accepted into their pringle swathed hearts. Only Kim Boggs (Ryder) sees the beauty behind the boy's ghostly exterior and they begin a fairytale romance. A fantastically touching film about being different.
