EXHIBITION

PAINTINGS: Antonio Julio LÓpez Castro

López Castro’s work explores issues around the representation and idealization of the landscape, our relationship to it and our immediate natural surroundings. The paintings observe how we are affected by the physical characteristics of the place where we live, while reflecting on the contradiction between our intrinsic connection to the natural world and simultaneous detachment from it. The Artist is interested in how our regular nterventions in the landscape and the use of our surroundings form patterns that define us, looking for a better understanding of concepts such as identity and place. Born in Madrid in 1972, Antonio moved to Ireland in 1995. He studied Fine Art at Sligo IT receiving an Honours Degree in 2003. Antonio currently lives and works in Co. Kerry. Thursday 2-Thursday 16 August Admission FREE
