In 2014, after making over the bedroom for a local teen who’d been diagnosed with cancer, Susan Wintersteen founded Savvy Giving by Design. The non-profit, which comprises a national network of professional interior designers, provides comfort, support and healing to families with a child facing a medical crisis by transforming the interior spaces of their homes at no cost to them.

A professional interior designer customizes each room to the child’s unique needs, optimizing for physical and emotional comfort.
