SHECHEM CHILDREN’S HOME
QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER
Q1, 2025
New Year, New Hope
2025 begins with a joyful milestone of returning to our newly renovated home. With hearts full of gratitude and renewed purpose, we step into this new season stronger and more hopeful than ever. Through God’s faithfulness and the support of our partners, Shechem continues to be a place where healing begins and futures are restored.

THE HEART OF SHECHEM REOPENS

a time of celebration and thanksgiving, attended by church leaders, partners, and friends The newly renovated Shechem Home now serves as a sanctuary of restoration. From cozy bedrooms to learning spaces and therapy rooms, every corner speaks of new hope.
The excitement among the children was contagious: stuffed animals were placed on beds, laughter echoed in rooms, and everyone joyfully helped unpack and settle in
The renovation project was made possible through the generosity and support of the Wholistic Transformation Resource Center (WTRC) and our contractor, Modelo Espasyo Konstruksyon (MEK). This transformation reflects our ongoing mission to provide a safe, nurturing, and healing environment for every child who enters our doors.

Regulating Emotions, Restoring Peace
This quarter also marked the completion of our new Sensory Room, a safe and calming space designed to help children regulate high emotions triggered by trauma. While we have already begun using the space and the children find it very helpful, we are currently consulting experts and collaborating with the WTRC team to better understand how to optimize the room's setup and functionality. With tools like yoga balls, sensory tiles, art materials, & hammocks, this room has already made a remarkable difference. Younger children enjoy play-based activities, while older youth find calm through deep pressure and rocking tools.
Princess, 16, shared, "My favorite was all the sensory tools. It was fun, especially doing it with the other kids."
