Q2, 2025
This quarter, we opened our doors and hearts to four newly rescued children and rejoiced as four others returned home through successful family reintegration. Today, 17 young lives are receiving care inside Shechem, each child carrying stories of resilience & renewal.
Every child’s journey toward healing is tender and unique. At Shechem, therapeutic interventions blend trauma-informed practices with creative and physical expression to help children process their experiences safely and meaningfully. This quarter, our trained psychotherapist and mental health team conducted weekly therapy sessions and each child’s healing journey tells a story.
ZOY began using play to work through grief, often recreating memories through doll play and drawings. She’s learning to name her emotions and is beginning to release them.
CRISH, once withdrawn, now participates in group therapy. Her quiet engagement speaks volumes, showing increasing trust in adults and peers.
Each session, whether through LEGO, storytelling, drama, or physical play, becomes a space where trauma slowly loosens its grip. Healing begins not just in words, but in play, in presence, and in the quiet moments of connection.

Barb, 13, came to us withdrawn and emotionally distant Today, she’s slowly emerging. She’s engaging in household chores, assisting in market errands, and learning how to trust again. Though quiet, her heart speaks through service and love for her siblings. Her story reminds us that healing can be quiet, less
