PRESIDENTS REPORT Lynn Cuttle

Welcome to our October edition of Nissan Link, This year has flown by, we are already starting to prepare for Christmas, and the New Year with all our wonderful events for the 2020 calendar. Speaking of Christmas, don’t forget our Nissan Car Club Chrissy Party on Saturday 14th December. Please let Jan or Rhiannon know that your young ones are attending for Santa’s nice list. Last meeting was fantastic, a bit scary for me as it was my first time chairing a large meeting, with our presentation for the Nissan Nightmoves, and we were to have our guest speakers who unfortunately were unable to attend at the last minute, but they have promised that when they come along they will also bring something special for us to climb all over. Don’t forget that Rhiannon is organising an awesome nightmeals so please read her article for all the details. Bring a friend along or come on your own and make some new friends.

SECRETARY REPORT Vicki Curry . Hi All, I don’t have much to write about this month so let’s see how it goes. Well, after last weekend’s epic event I hope that you all had a great time. Thanks to the team of great organisers for putting on another terrific event. Congratulations to the winning teams and well done to all. I hope somebody has written an article about the weekend for the magazine. I would love to read it. (if you do have a story to tell, please write it down and send it to Mason for the magazine. Our next get together is a Nissan Nightmeals. The details of which will be later in the magazine. Our last one was a real hoot. Come along and join us. The end of the year is now fast approaching. Please let Jan and her helpers know if you are planning to attend our Christmas BBQ (the big guy will be coming along for the little ones later in the afternoon) Well, that’s it from me for this magazine, hope to see you at the next Nightmeals

VICE PRESIDENT REPORT Rhiannon Philpot-hale . Hey NCCA land, How quick is this year going? It will be Christmas before you know it. Our last club meeting at the Manningham was a great night. We had a large crowd for this Nissan Nightmoves presentation as well as some new members coming along for their first club night. It was great to meet everyone and see some new and old faces in the crowd. Lets hope we can keep growing our member base at each club night. For this months Club meeting we will be heading out to The General Assembly at South Wharf for some great food and an amazing atmosphere. It’s located at south wharf precinct right on the Yarra river so the views are beautiful and we will be well into the swing of daylight savings at this time of the year so will be able to enjoy the light nights. Parking is super simple with hundreds of spaces located at the DFO south wharf precinct with the restaurant only being a quick 5 minute walk from the car park. We will be having the Night meals on Friday 11th October. If you wish to attend please contact Lynn Cuttle or Rhiannon Philpot-Hale though email or facebook. We have had the Yarra Valley stages run in September and it was an amazing event with the largest rally field of the year. The weather was perfect, the roads were amazing and the event was run superbly. I had the pleasure of navigating in the 00 Car with Trevor Woods and thoroughly enjoyed my time out in the forest. Thank you to Craig Jarvie, Aidan and Kim O’Halloran and all of the directing team for putting on what is one of the best rally events on the calendar. I have heard nothing but good things from all competitors. More detaials on the rally will be found in our rally report so make sure you keep on reading to find out all the winners and all the “OH NO’s” of the day. Thats it from me this month. Keep an eye out for Christmas BBQ details and Presentation night details in the upcoming magazines and be sure to mark these in your calendar. See you all at the Nightmeals on Friday 11th October. Rhee NIGHTMEALS DETAILS: The General Assembly 29 S Wharf Promenade, South Wharf VIC 3006 Friday 11th October 2019 7.30pm

EDITORS REPORT Mason Peart

Hi All, First of all, I’d like to say great job to all the competitors that went out and represented NCCA at the Western Victorian Crane Trucks Valley Stages on the 22nd of September. You all did an awesome job. An even bigger thanks must go to the team behind the event. Aidan, Craig, Kim, Meagan and Denise, your efforts at getting the event to run and getting people involved are hugely appreciated, Trevor and Andrew, your data entry skills allowed us to get accurate and up to date timing information. It was extremely appreciated, and spectators found it helpful and easy to use. Thankyou! Once again, I was behind the video lens with BlendLine TV for the VRC component of the event, and doing official VCRS coverage. Yet another awesome and productive day was had out in the forests. A big thanks to Bernie O’Halloran and Richard for keeping me company during the first half of the day, and Tom Lipson and his crew for getting me where I needed to be! I’d also like to extend my thanks to Jack Taylor for the photos in this months magazine. Studying photography at University would teach you a lot of skills, and his portfolio really shows it. Consider checking his website out at https://jamesmactaylor.com, or scan the QR code below. That’s all from me!

RALLY REPORT Leonie Clark

Hey All, Wow what a month September has been. The Western Victorian Cranes Yarra Valley Stages was run on the 22nd September. The setting couldn’t be more perfect, the rain during the week allowed for dust to be kept to a minimum and the sun shone the whole day. A massive shout out to all involved in getting this event to be one “for the ages”, congratulations Craig Jarvie, Aidan and Kim O’Halloran, Denise and Greg Chenhall, Brian Portz, Trevor Woods and Andrew Woods. (If I’ve missed anyone I’m sorry, there’s so many of you to mention). Top marks for such a fantastic event and the local spectators I spoke to at Stage 9 were very impressed. Thanks again to the major event sponsor Western Victorian Cranes. After one of the funniest Driver Ballots I have ever witnessed, Arron and Daniel Brkic (Who was 1st Nissan member home) were propped into 1st position on the road and became overall winners. Congrats guys! Mitchell picked your car out at Assembly as the one to beat (I might get him picking my horses!) Steve Porter was the second Nissan member home in 8th place, followed by Andrew White (lucky car 13), Phil Thomas in 17th place and David Lawrance giving it a red hot go with daughter Emma on her first time out in 22nd place. Well done to all. We had a few NCCA crews competing but either ineligible or not opting for points. With mentions to our very own: Matthew James (Car 8), Rowan Woollard (Car 14 – that beast was on fire!) and Rachel Messer (Car 21). Commiserations to Joe Brick (darn those driveshafts), Alan Friend and Michelle Canning (oil pressure). On to the VCRS, this was a great and varied field. The cars were fast, the crews were even faster. Congratulations to all who competed, Aiden Peart and Stuart Armstrong (8th place, 1st NCCA), Keith Cuttle (=9th place and 2nd NCCA to finish), Mark Watson and Darren Davidson (16th place, 3rd NCCA), Stuart and Daniel Stevenson (20th place and 4th NCCA). There were sadly some NCCA crews who faced some unfortunate disappointments which forced them to retire. Our little white Golf was the first NCCA out of action in Stage 1 with a broken driveshaft that ended our run early. It was great while it lasted. And, we weren’t alone, Mitch Fleming and Elliot Martin having clutch issues which also ended their day unexpectedly early (thanks for the company guys) and Cody Thomas with his nav Matthew Patterson having an off moment in the same stage and from the provisional results sheet may have run out of late time. We hope to see all the VCRS crews out at VCRS Round 4 Daryl Tunbridge V2 on the 5th October out in the forest. Our Golf won’t be ready in time so we won’t be able to get out there competing but we’re wishing everyone the best and will update our progress in the next mag ahead of Round 6 George Derrick on the 9th November. Don’t forget to check out Mason Peart Media and NCCA facebook and YouTube (coming) for photos and videos from the weekend. Whilst you’re there, please “Like” our pages so you can keep up with our events and footage

MEMBERSHIP/CLUB PERMIT REPORT Aiden Peart

Hi All,

Another quick membership report this month.

We currently have 291 members, a lot of whom participated, officiated and spectated recently at the WVCT Valley Stages Rally in Yarra Glen which was great to see. Some of our members sponsored the event including David Lawrance from DML Soil Testing and Phil Thomas from Lock and Load, who donated some fantastic prizes.

As for me, I found (some may say exceeded) the limits of my tyres, perfect R&D for the Alpine Rally in a few months time.

Thanks to those members who responded to the questionnaire regarding 4WD tours. The overwhelming response was in favour of weekend trips. Stay tuned for further info regarding these tours.

Thanking you!

AUTOCROSS REPORT Russell Seabrook

Hello NCCA fam. Welcome to October’s edition of the Autocross magazine. This month the racing went out north to shepparton, Mooroopna on the 15th. Not as many entries as we’ve been seeing though out the year but never the less a good day was had by all. The day was run by Shepparton District Car Club, it was a Road tyres only event but there was plenty of grip under the first layer of fine dust. 6 offical runs were conducted and and couple of un timed runs followed for the keen drivers. Results as follows Cary Seabrook 2nd outright 1st in class Russell Seabrook 4th outright 1st in class Glenn Scott 10th outright 3rd in class The next event is being held in Mt Gambier on the 27th of October. come down, make a weekend of it. hope to see lots of you’ll there.

MOTORKHANA REPORT Evelyn Apted

Hey all, On Sunday the 15th of September, the 8th round of Group 5 was held at the Geelong Motorsports Complex in Avalon. The track was nice for most of the day, however, later in the day there was some rain which made for some unexpected off-roading. There were 3 NCCA competitors at the event: Lucas Thorpe- 2nd in class / 10th outright Micah Thorpe 5th in class / 36th outright Evelyn Apted 3rd in class / 32nd outright Our NCCA round that was postponed from earlier in the year has now been rescheduled for Saturday the 16th of November. It is a twilight khanacross with a come and try event beforehand.
