PRESIDENTS REPORT Lynn Cuttle

Welcome to our November magazine. WOW the year is moving along and the serious end of the competition series’ are around the corner. Best of luck for each and everyone who is out there enjoying yourself and having fun in whatever direction you take. Thank you very much to everyone who came along to our last nightmeals. Awesome food even if it was a little bit different to our standard menu’s. Just a reminder that we are meeting on Friday 15th November this month. For Santa to find your young family at our Christmas BBQ please ensure that you contact Rhiannon or Jan with their details and let us know how many adults are coming along for catering purposes. Remember when you come along to our club night bring a friend with you for company on the drive. See you soon

SECRETARY REPORT Vicki Curry . Hi Everyone Well, this is the second last magazine for the year, where does the time go? There have been a few things that have happened over the last time I put my fingers on the keyboard for the magazine. The big news is that CAMS – Confederation of Australian Motor Sport announced that they were changing their name to Motorsport Australia. I was told at State Council that this is merely a “trading name” change. So, that means that everything is still the same, just the paperwork titles change. All the CAMS championships will, from 1st January 2020 will be known as Motorsport Australia Championship. I guess there will be fewer trees in the world with all the new paperwork, manuals etc that will need to be printed to replace the existing one. On the CAMS/Motorsport Australia note, they have relocated to their new offices on the 25th of October. The new address is Canterbury Road, Canterbury. (I think 745, but it is next to BM Tech) So, if you need to contact/ visit this is where they are now located. Also, at State Council last week we held elections for representatives for council. There were 3 positions available and 6 nominees. 4 of the nominees were women. The results were 2 women and 1 male were elected. Well done to us women for stepping up in a very male dominated sport. On a lighter note, our Christmas BBQ is fast approaching. Let Jan know if you are coming. It is always a great day. Lots of food and chatter, and the kids love the bouncy castle. Santa will of course be making an appearance thanks to the local fire brigade and Dion.

VICE PRESIDENT REPORT Rhiannon Philpot-hale . Hey NCCA land, Well that time of year has come around again. All events are nearly wrapped up and the champions will soon be announced. We are not quite done yet and if you haven’t had enough motorsport fix for this year continue to read on and let all our amazing secretaries tell you about the last few events for the year. On a social front we have the monthly meeting at the manningham in Bulleen and our ever growing christmas bbq to look forward to. Our monthly meeting will be at the Manningham hotel on Friday 15th November. Join us at 7.30 for a meal and a drink with our meeting starting between 8.15-8.30pm. The Xmas BBQ is an event to not be missed! I even heard a rumor that Santa will stop in during his busy schedule to ensure that everyone is set to have an amazing Christmas! Date: Saturday 14th December 2019 Location: 110 Valley Road Wattle Glen Time: 2.30pm start with a BBQ dinner around 5.30pm Santa: Scheduled for 5pm. Make sure you all stay nice to ensure his visit! What to bring: A chair, drinks, empty stomach and a smile! RSVP: Please contact Rhiannon, Lynn or Jan by Sunday 1st December to secure your spot and ensure we cater for everyone. If you have any special requirements please also let us know so we can ensure your Christmas BBQ is a memorable one! Please keep an eye on your emails and on Facebook for further information for the Christmas BBQ. Lastly from me if you have a perpetual trophy from last year can you please email me or call me as soon as possible! We will organise the best way to return them. It’s that time of year where we have to round them up to ensure the next champions name is added to the long list of great NCCA winners! Email: Rhiannonaderyn@hotmail.com Phone: 0417362085 That’s all from me! See you at the November meeting!

Not Much from me as yet except this little riddle: “A Slight Inclination of the Cranium is as adequate as a spasmodic movement of the optic towards an equine devoid of its visionary capacity” Answer next issue and good luck

AUTOCROSS REPORT Russell Seabrook

Hi all. nothings happened since last months VCAS Round. Mt gambier is being held on the 27th of October. Good luck to everyone attending.

What’s your name? Daniel Brick How many years have you been in Motorsport? 3 years competing but running around service parks, controls and road closures all my life. What is your best result? 3rd outright in the 2019 Quit Forest rally ARC and 2019 Victorian Rally Championship Co driver. What’s your current ride/drive? Western Victorian Crane Trucks 1996 Subaru Impreza Sti Blue in color, with all of the good bits What’s your favourite drive/ride? Sitting beside Arron this year has been absolutely amazing what he achieves in the car as a driver is incredible to watch. This year he’s been compered to the likes of Possum and Colin and that 100% on the money, it’s been a pleasure to sit beside him. Co driving for Darren this year in the ARC was mega also. What was the scariest moment in your history of Motorsport? Our almost off at the Yarra Valley Stages only because I could see it coming. Arron managed to get us out of it to his credit and we came away with 1st outright. It was bloody close and would have been a big off if Arron had of lifted. What would your ultimate car and event combination be? Rally Finland, in one of Colin’s old GC8s. Big shout out to my old man who taught me everything I know about Co driving, I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of his knowledge, encouragement and guidance. The support from the NCCA family has been amazing, I’d like to thank everyone personally.

EDITORS REPORT Mason Peart

Hi All, Another month, another magazine. Not too much is new with the exception of Member Grill which is back after an extended break, and with any luck, it’s here to stay! If you’d like to be grilled, send me an email at enquiries@masonpeartmedia.com.au! I was out filming the final VRC round with the usual suspects from BlendLine TV at the Akademos Rally which was great fun as always. Massive congratulations to Arron Windus and Daniel Brick for sealing the Victorian Rally Championship. Daniel is an NCCA member, and was the subject for this months Member Grill which you would’ve already seen. Next event for me is the George Derrick Rally on the 14th of November, followed closely by the Alpine Rally on the 29th and 30th of November and the 1st of December. You can follow all the action I see by scanning the QR code below with a phone, or by following the link. **PLEASE NOTE** As a result of the Alpine Rally, the December magazine will be delayed.

RALLY REPORT Leonie Clark

Hey Rally Fans, What an interesting month October has been with the running of the previously postponed VCRS 3 Daryl Tunbridge on the 5th and the final VRC for the year, Akademos held on the 20th. Since I was not at Daryl Tunbridge and there’s already been enough discussion about the event, I will not give this any more air time but instead report on the results. 1st NCCA home was Keith Cuttle in the mighty Commodore taking 5th Outright. Big thanks to Kain Manning (HRA) for sitting with Keith so he could compete. 2nd NCCA home was Dad and Daniel (Stevenson) in their WRX placing 10th Outright. Great result guys! 3rd NCCA home was Russell Seabrook, navigating for the 2nd time with Ashley Smyth (not NCCA) in the little Excel to place 11th Outright in the event. Way to go! Unfortunately, Mark Watson was unable to continue after Service (sorry I couldn’t jump in with you) and Aidan O’Halloran with Darren Davison suffering a broken strut in the Evo. On to Akademos results: Joe Brkic with driver Darren Windus (BLCC) placed 2nd Outright Ivan Register with Paul Humm (WDCC) placed 3rd Outright Alan Friend and Michelle Canning ended up 7th Outright Craig Jarvie and Aidan O’Halloran took the Green Machine out to finish 12th Outright Steve Porter with sidekick Tony Robinson (HRA) finished lucky 13th Outright Kim O’Halloran had a seat with Anthony Morrow (FFCC) to end up 16th Outright And last but surely not least David Lawrance with daughter Emma Lawrance coming in a strong 17th Outright in the Datto. Rowan Woollard (with Phil Hurle – HRA) had a massive roll on Stage 2 in the RX7, on behalf of the Club we hope you’re alright and the repairs don’t set you back from competing in the Alpine. And who can forget Daniel Brkic and Arron Windus (BLCC), regardless they did not finish the entire event, are this years VRC Champions! Congratulations to you both, you earned it! There is one last event for VCRS this year, George Derrick on the 9th November. This will be 100% Route Charted and will be running during daylight/twilight hours. We have at least 4 NCCA crews heading out to Heyfield, best of luck to you all. See you next month.

MSCA Come & Try Day Have ever wanted to drive your car around Victoria’s premiere race track Phillip Island but don’t have any motorsport experience? In 2014, with the support of CAMS, the MSCA developed a Come & Try Day program aimed at getting newcomers involved in grassroots motorsport. Since then over 400 participants have experienced first-hand the thrill of driving trackside both in Victoria and South Australia. Through this Come & Try program, many have continued their sprinting experience. What is the Come & Try Day program? The MSCA Come & Try program is an all-day event designed to give you sprint day experience, with both formal and trackside instruction and training. “We have experienced drivers who are mentors for participants,” says Petrina Astbury, official MSCA trainer. As a C&T participant, you’ll attend three information sessions covering a general drivers’ briefing, track driving techniques and other relevant motorsport information. In between information sessions you’ll have two on-track sessions with an experienced instructor. Then it’s over to you to put it all together, with two solo runs to complete the day’s fun. To get you started, you’ll be provided with pre-event information to help prepare yourself and your car for the day. Want to join the fun? The next MSCA Come & Try Day is at Phillip Island on Saturday 7 December. Entries are open and filling fast. You can enter via the CAMS website: www.cams.com.au If you want to know more, please contact Bruce Astbury, MSCA President, on 0419 353 011.

MEMBERSHIP/CLUB PERMIT REPORT Aiden Peart

Hi All, Time to start prepping the Z for this years Alpine Rally. Previously this event was run as closed to club, but this year NCCA has a bunch of members competing under our own banner - ‘Team NCCA’ has a nice ring to it, yes?! Previously I’ve mentioned the possibility of running 4WD trips with the club. The first of these trips will be more of a ‘meet and greet’, on November 23rd in Wombat State Forest. If you’re interested in taking part, please contact Rodney on rokkitt.au@gmail.com Congratulations to Daniel Brkic on taking out the Victorian Rally Championship from the silly seat (co-driver). Best of luck to all the Nissan crews competing in the George Derrick on November 9th, the last round of the Victorian Club Rally Series for 2019. That’s it from me
