PRESIDENTS REPORT Lynn Cuttle

Welcome back NCCA Members Well what a start to 2020. I feel most of us will know family or friends who have been affected by these fires. I would like to congratulate all the winners that were announced at the club presentation night last Saturday 1st Feb 2020. All trophies and awards are well deserved with all your personal commitment to achieve them. Well Done!!! I would like to thank Rhiannon, Jan and their merry workers for a wonderful night. Our guest speakers Christine (Cole) and Fred Gibson were so very informative, and we all learnt something from them on the night. Thanks Leonie for using your contacts to get them. Our next meeting is on Friday 14th February, so bring your loved one along to our meeting and we will see what special treats we can arrange and remember it is far nicer having company in the car for the trip than travelling alone. See you all soon

SECRETARY REPORT Vicki Curry . Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the first edition of the NissanLink for 2020. I hope you have all had a great break and are ready to get back into another big year of motorsport.

Our first event for the year is our Annual Presentation Dinner. I would like to congratulate all of our Winner this year and a special congratulations to our Junior winners. Without our Junior members our Club would become very stagnant and stale for ideas in going forward into a fast, changing future. Please keep up the great work. Unfortunately, over the last few months bushfires have devastated many areas of not only Victoria, but all states of Australia. We do wish a very fast recovery for these areas. To help with this we may arrange for a Club drive trip to some communities that have been affected. This will be to help the local economy by buying lunch/afternoon tea or similar later in the year. The Club will also be making a donation to Wildlife carers to assist with their on going costs of looking after the animals who have been injured and misplaced. We know that all of our Club members will support this donation whole heartedly.

Our first Club meeting will be held at the Manningham on the 14th February at 8.15 pm. It’s Valentines Day so, come early, have a nice dinner, (could be romantic). The raffle prizes will be towards the sweetheart side of things. Come along and have a great night out. See you all there

VICE PRESIDENT REPORT Rhiannon Philpot-hale . Hey NCCA Land, Welcome to 2020! I hope you all had a great Christmas and new year and are all set for a massive 2020. To kick things off we had our presentation night on the 1st Feb. More details about that below. We also had the Victorian Rally Championship and Victorian Club rally Series Presentation night on the 8th of Feb. It was a great night, and a few NCCA Members got awards. Our 2020 calendar is also available in this months magazine. be sure you put all the important dates in your calendars/diaries! If any members have any amazing ideas for nightmeals venues or social events please let me know and we will make them happen. Email rhiannon.aderyn@hotmail.com. We had our presentation night on Saturday the 1st of Feb. Congratulations to the following people who received awards! TREASURERS REPORT Gordon Ledwidge

Bank Balance as at 23/01/2020

$25450.71, still a healthy balance.

I hope you all have had very merry Xmas and very much look forward to a prosperous 2020. When get to read my article, you will have enjoyed the company of motor sport royalty in Fred and Christine Gibson. I will not be there as I will be enjoying then sights of Bangkok Thailand. If my memory serves me right, Fred had quite a lot to do with Godzilla when it arrived on our shores. Not to mention his work with the Ford Racing team. A foot in both camps, what a good looking resume. On to 2020, welcome a new year with all its trials and tribulations, all good with our events and competitions. I am looking forward to more scrutineering participation which I had to kerb a lot due to my medical conditions.

EDITORS REPORT Mason Peart

Hi All, I hope your Christmas and New Years break was good to you and you got a bit of time to kick back. Just joking, I know you were all working on your cars ;). Before I get onto my news, I’d like to give a shout out to Rally Retro Festival. Held on the 29th of Feb at METEC in Kilsyth, it’s going to be a fantastic display of retro rally cars! More information can be found on their FB page (Rally Retro Festival) Now onto my news. Unfortunately, this will be my last edition of the Nissan Link for the foreseeable future. I’d like to personally thank everyone who has submitted articles to me, and contributed a lot to the magazine. It wouldn’t be the Nissan Link without our members. I will be continuing to develop my media business, and continuing my club and state level Rally presence. You can keep up to date with what i’m doing via my Facebook page, Mason Peart Media. Good luck to all members, and i’ll see you out there. Mason.

RALLY REPORT Leonie Clark

Welcome to NCCA 2020,

What an exciting year we had last year and the club competition was very tight between two drivers. Hoping this competitive year we have some more friendly rivalry on the track. Congrats to all trophy winners in 2019. We have been working on continuing our Subaru rebuild, we expect to be in a position to take it out a few times this year. Woohoo! Watch this space. The first rally events of the year are coming up soon, there are a few NCCA members trying their hand at the George Woods Introductory Rally on the 22nd February out near Powelltown. The first VRC will be held on the 21st March in the Upper Murray Forest area and the first VCRS round not set to occur until Saturday 18th April for the Ada River Rally in the Yarra State Forest. A complete 2020 events calendar has been created and made available on our Facebook page, thank you Mason for your time building this for our members. Please read the below excerpt on the VicRally website written by Nick Wright (Assistant CoC for George Woods) for the latest on changes to the Intro Series at the request of Motorsport Australia. Understandably, Motorsport Australia (formerly CAMS) seeks to ensure the safety of all involved in the sport and have thus mandated the use of Frontal Head Restraint (FHR) devices for most events from 2020 on. This makes it difficult to allow potential new competitors a toe-in-the-water entry into an introductory event like the George Woods. Standard, unmodified, road cars would need considerable modification before an FHR could be safely used. After much discussion about how to mitigate the risks of allowing essentially unmodified road cars to participate in rallies, consensus has been reached. This requires the event to be designed to ensure that maximum speeds achieved by crews are actively controlled. Our event will be a Special Stage Rally Regularity. For this type of event (introduced for 2020), times allowed on competitive sections are limited to a maximum average of 70Km/h and crews must not exceed 110Km/h at any time. This minimises the risk, allowing a crew to experience a real rally without going to the expense of roll-cage, special seats, harnesses and FHR. A tradeoff is that all crew members must now hold a minimum of a Clubman Rally licence. As this can take some time to organise, get onto the Motorsport Australia website now. You must complete an on-line module and pay the appropriate fee; drivers that are under 25 must also undergo an Observed Licence Test (OLT). An OLT can be done, by prior arrangement, at an autocross or a specially convened OLT day. While careful selection of roads ensures a fun, competitive event can be run within these speed requirements, all competitors will be required to keep their speed below 110Km/h. The Rally Regularity regulations set severe penalties for exceeding the speed limit. Speeds will be monitored, and the relevant penalties applied. The George Woods is the first Special Stage Rally Regularity event to be run and Motorsport Australia will be watching closely to ensure the new rules work as intended.

We hope to see you all out on the stages in 2020 whether competing or officialling, each role is as important as the other.

MEMBERSHIP/CLUB PERMIT REPORT Aiden Peart

I’m back! Welcome back for 2020! Looking forward to catching up with many of you throughout the year at club social gatherings and motorsport events. This year we hope to get club permit members out and about in their cars on the odd drive day, and have another go at arranging a 4wd trip. The survey from last year indicated there was a good level of interest out there, so let’s try and turn that interest into a weekend away. In light of the recent Victorian bushfires and their affect on tourism, this may be an opportunity to get out there, give your vehicle a good drive and inject some money back into Victorian county towns. Please remember to keep your club memberships current. The best ways to pay your membership are through the club website, or by following the hyperlink below. Thanking you!

Hello NCCA fam, welcome to 2020! I hope everyone had a exciting and safe Christmas and new year, I certainly did! January is always a slow month for Motorsport, especially Autocross so not much to say this time around. However NCCA presentations were on the 1st of February. Read Rhiannon’s article to see who snapped up the 2019 championship wins! . The first round of the VCAS series is being held out at Deniliquin on the 14th of March. It is a road tyres only event. VCAS Presentations will be held sometime during the day.

MOTORKHANA REPORT Evelyn Apted

Hey all, I hope you’ve all had an awesome off-season. Last year was a good year for NCCA in the motorkhana rounds, let’s make this year even more successful. The first event of the year will be a Come and Try motorkhana on the 9 th of February, hosted by TCCA and FFCC in Werribee. Round one of the Group 5 championship will be held by HSCCV in Werribee also. The date for this event is February 16th . The presentation night for the 2019 Group 5 championship will be held on Wednesday the 5th of February at Sofia’s in Camberwell.
