CALENDAR 2019 december 7th 14th

Come and try day MSCA- Phillip Island NCCA Christmas BBQ

PRESIDENTS REPORT Lynn Cuttle

Hi NCCA members, Well this year has flown past so quickly. Our motorsport competitions have just about wound up which means that all our point scores are being added up and getting ready for our huge presentation night on Feb 1st next year. I will love to see more people at our annual Christmas Party on Saturday 14th December. A whisper is going around that Santa is planning to arrive during the afternoon and then there is a BBQ afterwards. Please let Rhiannon know that you are coming along for catering purposes and if you have a child up to 12 years old then we also need these details. We have a very interesting guest speaker for the presentation night so come along and celebrate everyone’s ups and downs from 2019. I hope Santa brings you guys a special pressie for the tree, garage, carport or where ever you are able to work on your precious toys. See you soon

SECRETARY REPORT Vicki Curry . Hi All, Well, the end of the year is close now. This is the last magazine for the year. I hope you are all coming along to our family Christmas Party. Don’t forget to let Jan know how many of you are coming along. This is always a great day. We have great food, great company, the kids have a great time (and use up lots of energy) and we have a visit from that jolly guy in the red suit. I must congratulate our Club members who have been out there in the bush representing the Club in the VCRS championship. I don’t know what the final scores were between the Club, but great effort team. I believe the last event was very challenging to competitors. The conditions were tough. Speaking of tough conditions, I can only say that the decision to cancel Rally Australia was the right thing to do. Whilst I understand that the greater rally community would be disappointed that the WRC teams will not be running in Australia, and the final round of the ARC was also cancelled, the conditions in New South Wales were unacceptable fot running the event. I would like to say a big thank you to the Fire Fighting services who have been battling blazes in both New South Wales and Queensland over the past couple of months. I hope that these fires can be contained and Australia has a calmer Summer period with no more fires like these breaking out again. I will be down at Lakes Entrance at the end of November beginning of December for the Alpine Rally. I may take a bit more interest in the event this year and even pen an article for next year’s first magazine. Well, as this is the last magazine for the year, I would like to say to all members, have a wonderful Christmas, a prosperous New Year and most importantly of all, STAY SAFE.

VICE PRESIDENT REPORT Rhiannon Philpot-hale . Hey NCCA land, The Xmas BBQ is an event to not be missed! I even heard a rumor that Santa will stop in during his busy schedule to ensure that everyone is set to have an amazing Christmas! Date: Saturday 14th December 2019 Location: 110 Valley Road Wattle Glen Time: 2.30pm start with a BBQ dinner around 5.30pm Santa: Scheduled for 5pm. Make sure you all stay nice to ensure his visit! What to bring: A chair, drinks, empty stomach and a smile! RSVP: Please contact Rhiannon, Lynn or Jan by Sunday 1st December to secure your spot and ensure we cater for everyone. Of you have any special requirements please also let us know so we can ensure your Christmas BBQ is a memorable one! Please keep an eye out in your email and on Facebook for further information for the Christmas BBQ. Lastly from me if you have a perpetual trophy from last year can you please email me or call me as soon as possible! We will organise the best way to return them. It’s that time of year where we have to round them up to ensure the next champions name is added to the long list if great NCCA winners! Email: Rhiannonaderyn@hotmail.com Phone: 0417362085 That’s all from me!

TREASURERS REPORT Gordon Ledwidge

Balance at bank 25/11/2019 $25216.36. Another year is coming to a close and we await a new 2020. It has been a success for our Nightmoves Rally and Western Vic Crane Trucks Valley Stages rally with both making good profits. Well done to the teams and congratulations to all placegetters. It seems not many could solve my little riddle in the last Magazine. Answer is “ A nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse” My next puzzle is – A graduate applying for pilot training with a major airline was asked what he would do if, after a long haul flight to Sydney, he met the captain wearing a dress in the hotel bar. What would you do? Have a very merry Xmas, safe and prosperous New Year to all.

EDITORS REPORT Mason Peart

Hi All, Well, you’re reading another magazine which is good. It means I’m doing my job. The number of special articles is slowly rising which is excellent to see. While the Member Grill didn’t quite come back this month, we had a very good write up of the Otago Rally from Kim O’Halloran, so thanks Kim! My year has wrapped up on the filming side, with my work concluding at the Alpine Rally Of East Gippsland for the team at Mitch Garrad Motorsport. Chasing after a specific team was certainly different, and challenging at times, but it was great fun and I look forward to doing it again in the not so distant future. It was my first time attending an Alpine since 2013, and wow was it good to be back! Even though it was quite a shortened event, it was still an incredibly fun time. Talking to people and being amongst the quietly excited atmosphere at the start of the event was something you simply don’t get at any other event! I may have a look at revising the formatting of the magazine a little bit to make it nicer to read than just some white pages, so if you have any ideas send me an email at mason@masonpeartmedia.com.au (please e-mail, no messenger messages) See you in 2020, have a great X-mas.

RALLY REPORT Leonie Clark

Hey Folks, Well the final VCRS (George Derrick) has been well and truly run and won. NCCA had a strong 8 car team at the beginning with Big Russ running as Nav for Ashley to try and provide extra points for us. We may not have won the VCRS Club Championship, but we sure gave the HRA a run for their money and kept the competition fairly close all year. Well done to the following teams: Andrew White/Laurie White – 3rd O/R Aidan O’Halloran/Stuart Armstrong – 9th O/R Craig Jarvie / Michaela Jarvie – 14th O/R Russell Seabrook – 15th O/R Mark Watson / John Marson – 25th O/R Stuart Stevenson / Daniel Stevenson – 28th O/R Unfortunately three teams were unable to finish with Alan Friend/Michelle Canning having an Electrical issue in Service, Peter Schey/Kim O’Halloran with Mechanical issues in Stage 4 (hopefully both cars come up all right in time for this weekend’s Alpine Rally) and Tim/Leonie Clark having an interesting off-road experience part way through Stage 2. It was our first serious crash, we both expected to be able to drive out of the slide or at the very least bump the bank and push right on. Sadly, we didn’t get the choice. Tim and I would like to thank everyone for their calls and messages of support. I was only in the hospital for a few days for scans and precautionary checks to make sure nothing was broken. Fortunately the 6 point seat belts and Simpson harness did their jobs and ensured my body didn’t move during the impact. I will be forever grateful this system (Hans/Simpson) was mandatory from the start of this year for VCRS events. Thank you to the NCCA Committee for delivering the beautiful flowers to my home, they certainly cheered me up and knowing you were thinking of me was very touching. This will not stop us though, we have another car waiting in the wings begging to be taken out. I’ll just have to give a few leave passes to Tim to complete the build at the Man Cave. Have a Merry Christmas and hopefully we can all bring our cars up to scratch and “bring it” to those HRA gnomes next year! #NCCAVCRSWINNERS2020 **Editors Note** Congratulations to the following members who competed in the 2019 Alpine Rally Aiden Peart/Kim O’Halloran - Finished 29th David Lawrance/Darren Davison - Finished 37th Aaron Van Winden/David Gallacher - Finished 39th Ian Curry/Sarah Curry - Finished 40th Tony Fleming/Mitch Fleming - Finished 69th Alan Friend/Michelle Canning - DNF

MOTORKHANA REPORT Evelyn Apted

Hi all, There’s been four G5 events held over the past month including our NCCA round. The results can be found below in the table. VMCI Twilight Khanacross at Parwan This was Rd 9 of the G5 Championship and it was held on the 26th of October. There were multiple showers throughout the day causing the track to be extremely slippery, but it dried up quickly. NCCA had 3 competitors at the event. HSCCV Motorkhana at Werribee This round of the G5 championship was held on the 5th of November and was one of the rounds postponed from earlier in the year. The ground was a little bit slippery at the beginning of the day due to all the rain from the previous days, but it got better as the day went on. NCCA had 5 competitors in this event. NCCA Twilight Khanacross at Werribee This round was our postponed round from earlier in the year and was held on the 16th of November. It consisted of a Come and Try and a main event later on. Thanks to Stu, Lea and everybody else for helping to set up, time and run the event very smoothly which made for an awesome day. NCCA had 5 members competing at the event. It was awesome to see all the competitors having heaps of fun on the day. HAC Motorkhana at Pakenham This event was the last G5 event for the year and it was also the 50th annual HAC Interclub round. It was held on the 24th of November. There was a large field of 56 competitors, 6 of which were from NCCA. It was a warm, dusty day and we got through 9 tests. Our club came 5th out of the eight different teams.
