President I must be getting old as the year seems to be rolling by so fast. It is wonderful to see that we have motorsport happening again at the ground level, so that you guys can get out there and have lots of fun. I am looking forward to our next night meals on Friday 9th April, we have organised to have a tour at

Chas Talbot’s workshop 1280 Wellington Road, Lysterfield 8pm (3km from Stud Rd on the right, past Summit Rd. Sign out the front) Chas currently races a Camaro Sports Sedan and has raced many cars in different classes including F5000. He was also an awesome woodwork teacher. Come along for Pizza and soft drinks supplied by the club. Please let me know before hand so I have an idea on catering quantities – Lynn 0421 058 175. Just send me a text message with name and number of people. I would also like to organise another slot cars night again. If I get the interest I will organise this for our June Nightmeals timeslot. So again please send me a text message with names and numbers. Looking forward to seeing lots of you on Friday 9th April in Lysterfield. Bring a friend for company on the drive.

Vice President Nissan Car Club Australia is on the hunt for a new VP! If you’re interested in this role, and believe you can bring fantastic ideas and positive contributions to our club like our previous VP, contact Lynn via email: klcuttle@gmail.com - Mason

Secretary Hi All, It was great to finally have a meeting in the “flesh” so to speak. I must say it was nice to get out of the house and meet up with real people and talk to them. We even managed to have a raffle on the night. I hope you enjoyed your prizes. Our next meeting is a “Nightmeals” which is going to be held at the workshop of Chas Talbot. There is more information in the magazine. Please come along, he has a wealth of knowledge and it is sure to be a very interesting night. AND THERE WILL BE PIZZA.. Well, that’s it from me !

Treasurer Balance at Bank as at 25/03/2021

$37015.45

Still have a healthy balance in the bank to date. Not a lot from me regarding my SSS build, being hampered by delays on a cylinder head rebuild by Crankshaft rebuilders. Sorting out wiring issues plus a few other smaller problems that are not major, but a pain nonetheless. By the time you read this article, my old employer, Chadstone Ford, part of the Preston Motors group, will have been sold and the new owners take over 1ST April 2021. Will be an interesting upcoming 3 months. Our next meet up, I believe, will be posted in this issue of the Nissan Link and very much look forward to that. See you round the traps

Editor Not much to say this month, just the standard i’m after articles. Note the Nightmoves

date change, it’s now the 26th of June.

I’d also like to put up an EOI on behalf of someone who contacted me regarding selling his Stanza. It’s done 530,000km. It runs, drives and has rego. He’s not in a hurry to sell, and he wants it to go to the right buyer. Contact me for more info!

Membership Hi All, Things are ticking over at membership HQ. March is one of the biggest months for renewals and there are a heap of club permits due around the same time. If you’re due to renew, the best way is through the Nissan Car Club Australia website. Please send club permits with a stamped selfaddressed envelope to Robert Cooper Motors, 32 The Concord Bundoora Vic 3083, it will get to me quicker than sending it to the club PO box. It was great to see so many members out at the last rally too, looking forward to Ada River Rally on April 17th. The club currently has 303 members.

APRIL

Rally 3 weeks ago saw the running of round 1 of the VRC and VCRS, the Mitta Mountain Rally. NCCA members Peter Schey/ Michelle Canning in a Subaru WRX claimed second outright. Cary Seabrook, after setting the fastest time on stage one unfortunately rolled on stage two so was unable to finish. The VCRS had Brett Mackieson / Stephen Doughty in a Subaru WRX who claimed second outright, David Lawrence / Darren Davidson in the Datto 1600 claimed 5th outright, Russell Seabrook codriving in a Hyundai Excel claimed 8th outright, Keith Cuttle in the deadly commo DNF’d with broken gear selectors. Round 2, The Ada River Rally will be held on the 17th April running out of Rokeby and is another VRC/ VCRS combined event. At time of writing, they had a field of 65 entries. See ya out there in the dirt.

Motorkhana Hi Guys Motorkhanas have well and truly kicked of this year. The last group 5 event was combined with VMC. NCCA had good representation with 9 of the 40 odd drivers. We had 2 first timers and a hoon for back in the day (you can work out who that might be) spinning the wheels. So here is how the cookie crumbled Lea Stevens - who claimed that her first motorkhana was better than her first kiss, was out to blow the cobwebs from the RWD Subaru RX - she only cleaned up one flag and had no W.D.’s quite respectable considering it was her first time. She was 3rd in class L 31st outright and 28th handicaped. Abbi Kennewell not to let her mum show her up steered the RX well with her right foot well planted and put down some respectable times. She was 2nd in class L 27th outright - 26th adjusted for handicap The sexiest driver in the field (apart from me) Kylie Thorpe claimed that she couldn’t drive a FWD car and came in 1st in class L in one of my thrash Pulsars. Her outright position of 20th outright and 20th handicap was a good effort but her cries for retirement were put to bed when she was beaten by other family members Dex or Declan Thorpe also drove my Pulsar for his first drive. It wasn’t better than his first kiss that is to be decided. He can see over the bonnet and drove well only cleaning up one flag and finding the rev limiter late in the day. Second in class J2 and 29th outright or 30th handicapped Micah Thorpe was back into it without a broken arm and also enjoyed trying to destroy my other pulsar. He hit a flag on one run but was pretty clean for the rest. Micah finished first in class and

19th outright Jarvis effectively won class J1 apart from the cheats in Mini’s a flag and a DNF (due to the airflow plug falling off)didn’t help. He was 3rd in J1 and 22nd outright 22nd handicap adjusted Stuart Stevenson was 3rd in class behind a falcon and BMW. He drove with his usual style and managed to remember all the courses only hitting one flag his position was 25th outright 18th handicap adjusted Andrew Schultz (AKA i don’t own fix or care about this car) did his best to thrash my car well finished 3rd in class and 15th outright 16th handicap adjusted. He made sure that Micah and Jarvis were off thier phones and in the right place when required as well as helping out with other similar important jobs I finished 2nd in class behind the under powered paseo 13th outright and 12th handicapped. I managed to continue my dominance over the family and Andrew - also I can thrash a 2 litre pulsar better that a P Plater on a saturday night any day of the week. Our next event is on April 10 at Parwan (red dirt) Hopefully you can make it. P.S. Don’t forget to come out and play at the unofficial club challenge Terry Baker - 24-25th of April

Autocross Hi all! Round 1 of the VCAS series was held at Parwan, run by Melton Motorsports Car Club. It was exciting to get back into racing again. Cary took 8th outright, Glenn in 10th, Russell in 13th and Joel in 15th. 2019 presentations were held at lunch with Ncca taking 1st in the series, as well as 1st in class c Glenn, 2nd in class W Cary, 1st in class j Joel and 1st in class E Russell. Let’s get it done again in 2021! Round 2 will be held at Bagshot on the 11th of April. See you there.
