Your Monthly Circle to the Noosaville Business Community

Building a Stronger Network of Local Businesses

September has been a milestone month for the Membership Committee as we held our first official meeting with the newly formed team. We’re excited to report strong early progress, with a 25% increase in membership – a clear sign that momentum is building and the Noosaville Business Association community is thriving.

New Members: A Warm Welcome

Over the past month, we’ve welcomed a diverse group of new and renewing members from across the Noosaville business landscape - including local resorts, hospitality venues, creative professionals, and essential service providers. We’re thrilled to have you on board and look forward to supporting your journey through networking, promotion, and shared growth opportunities. Welcome to the NBA!

Retention & Engagement: Strengthening Member Connections

Member retention is going to be a top priority. To enhance the membership experience, we’ve rolled out a number of initiatives:

• A refreshed onboarding process to help new members hit the ground running.

• Regular check-ins and personalised outreach to keep lines of communication open.

• A renewed focus on making all members feel valued, visible, and connected within the NBA network.

Your feedback helps us shape these efforts, and we appreciate those who’ve taken time to share suggestions and encouragement.

Promotions & Visibility: Sharing Your Story

Our monthly digital magazine, “NBA Circle,” has been well received and is fast becoming the go-to source for member news, features, and updates. If you’d like to have your business spotlighted in a future edition, we encourage you to reach out - it’s a fantastic way to raise your local profile and advertise your work.

You’ll also notice a stronger NBA presence online. We’ve increased our activity across Facebook and Instagram, and have now launched an official LinkedIn page. These platforms are key tools for real-time updates, business highlights, and event promotion - so please follow us and stay connected!

Strategic Planning: Looking Ahead

We’re pleased to announce that the NBA has secured a Noosa Council grant to begin work on a 12-month Strategic Plan for the Association. This is a significant step forward in shaping the future of the NBA with intention and purpose. The Membership Committee has already begun working on Stage One, and we look forward to presenting the initial framework to members soon.

Events: Celebrating Our Community

After more than two years, we hosted our first solo in-person event - a sold-out evening at Pucca on the Noosaville Foreshore. With delicious food, a signature gin tasting, and ambient DJ vibes, it was a night to remember. Thank you to everyone who joined us and for the many positive messages we’ve received since.

Looking ahead, we now have all events locked in for the remainder of the year, and invitations will be landing in your inbox soon. Be sure to save the dates - we can’t wait to see you there.

We’re proud of what’s been achieved in this first month and know there’s even more ahead. If you’d like to get involved - whether it’s contributing to “NBA Circle,” volunteering at events, or joining a sub-committee - we’d love to hear from you.

Let’s keep building a strong, supportive business community in Noosaville.

The Noosaville Business Association (NBA) set the tone for an exciting year ahead with a sold-out Business After 5 (BA5) event this month at the vibrant new home of Pucca on the Noosaville Foreshore.

Guests had the opportunity to meet the newly elected NBA committee, who shared their vision for strengthening collaboration and driving momentum across the local business landscape. With a full calendar of events already locked in for 2025, members left with confidence that the NBA is moving forward with focus and enthusiasm.

The night was elevated by Pucca’s signature modern South Asian cuisine with Keralan flair, paired with a curated gin bar. Gateway to Art: Celebrating Creativity in Noosaville

Noosaville is well known for its riverside lifestyle, bustling cafés, and welcoming atmosphere. But beyond the water’s edge, a new story is taking shape, one that celebrates creativity and connection. At the centre of this story is the Gateway to Art, a vibrant precinct where artists, makers, and the community come together to share, experience, and be inspired by the power of art.

The Gateway to Art isn’t just a collection of galleries, it’s a living, breathing creative hub. Visitors can explore a rich mix of artistic expression, from contemporary painting and sculpture to ceramics, textiles, and mixed media. What makes it truly special is the opportunity to see art being made, to meet the artists behind the work, and to be part of the journey from concept to creation.

Community lies at the heart of this space. It brings people together not only to view art but to experience it, discuss it, and even try their hand at making it. Workshops, open studios, and collaborative events ensure there is something for everyone, no matter their age or background. By breaking down barriers, the Gateway to

Art makes creativity accessible and inviting.

For local artists, it provides more than a place to exhibit, it offers a platform to thrive. Emerging talent has the chance to be seen, while established artists gain a supportive network for sharing ideas and inspiration. This nurturing environment strengthens Noosaville’s identity as a place where creativity is not only appreciated but actively encouraged.

As the Sunshine Coast continues to grow, culture is becoming an increasingly important part of its story. The Gateway to Art reflects this shift, weaving creativity and community into the fabric of local life. It adds another dimension to Noosaville, one that is as colourful and dynamic as the artworks found within its walls.

The Gateway to Art is not a hidden gem, but an open invitation. Whether you’re a collector, a casual visitor, or simply curious, stepping through its doors means stepping into a world of imagination and possibility. It’s a reminder that art isn’t something distant or exclusive, it belongs to everyone, and it thrives right here in Noosaville.

You will find NOOSA’s ARTIST PRECINCT all on Gateway Drive in Noosaville’s Industrial Estate.

6 Common Cybersecurity Mistakes Australian Businesses Make

Australian small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are prime targets for cybercrime—and most incidents are preventable. Here are the six most common mistakes we see in local businesses and the quick fixes you can put in place today.

The Password Problem

„ The mistake: Reusing simple passwords across multiple accounts.

„ Why it hurts: One breach anywhere can unlock your email, banking and cloud apps.

„ Quick fix:

• Use a password manager (e.g.,LastPass, Bitwarden, Google Password Manager etc) to create/store unique passwords.

• Turn on breach alerts and change any reused credentials.

• Set minimum password standards in your email’s administration panel.

• Extra tip: Ban predictable patterns like Name123 or Summer2025.

Patch and Update, Automatically

„ The mistake: Delaying OS, browser and app updates.

„ Why it hurts: Unpatched vulnerabilities are the fastest path to ransomware.

„ Quick fix:

• Enable automatic updates for operating systems and browsers.

• Apply managed update policies in Google Workspace/Chrome and Office 365.

• Schedule a monthly maintenance window for line-of-business apps and firmware (plan around EOFY/BAS peaks).

Skipping 2-Step Verification

„ The mistake: Relying on passwords alone.

„ Why it hurts: 2-step verification blocks the vast majority of account takeovers.

„ Quick fix:

• Enforce 2-Step Verification for email, Drive and admin roles.

• Prefer authenticator apps or USB security keys over SMS.

• Require USB security keys for finance and admin accounts.

Unmanaged Mobile Devices

„ The mistake: Phones without strong locks, encryption or remote wipe.

„ Why it hurts: Lost/stolen devices can expose email, files and customer data.

„ Quick fix:

• Enforce PIN/biometric lock and short autolock.

• Enable device encryption and remote wipe.

• Use mobile device management; apply a separate work profile for BYO.

Falling for Phishing

„ The mistake: Acting on email requests for payments, credentials or file sharing.

„ Why it hurts: AI-crafted scams look legitimate and reference real projects.

„ Quick fix:

• Follow Pause-Verify-Pay: confirm via a different channel before paying or sharing.

• Train staff quarterly and run phishing simulations.

• Enable SPF, DKIM and DMARC to reduce spoofing of your email address.

Backups and Recovery Not Tested

„ The mistake: Assuming “we have backups” without verifying.

„ Why it hurts: Backups fail, are incomplete, or restore too slowly to keep business running.

„ Quick fix:

• Follow 3-2-1: 3 copies, 2 media, 1 offsite.

• Test restores quarterly; record recovery times, owners and steps.

• Keep a simple incident checklist: who to call, isolate systems, client comms.

Making Security Simple for Australian SMBs

Treat cybersecurity like WHS—part of everyday operations. Nail the six items above to cut risk, reduce downtime and build client trust.
