Your Monthly Circle to the Noosaville Business Community
Building a Stronger Network of Local Businesses
Can you believe we’re heading into November already?
The new NBA committee is now two months in — and we’ve hit the ground running!
Our first Business After Five (BA5) networking event at Pucca was a huge success, with great food, great company, and plenty of new connections made. Next up is our Seabourne Distillery BA5 on Thursday, 6th November, and it’s shaping up to be another fantastic evening. Full details are inside this issue — but be quick, spots are filling fast!
We’re also thrilled to announce our brand-new “Good Morning Noosaville” Coffee Socials, launching at the end of November. These relaxed sunrise catchups are perfect for those who love to start the day with good coffee, genuine connections, and great local conversation.
Over the past month, our committee members have been out chatting with local business owners, listening to what you want from your association. The message has been loud and clear — more networking and more casual meetups — and we’re delivering!
Membership is also on the rise, with a 40% increase already this financial year. We’re excited to welcome so many new faces into the NBA family — and we’ll be reconnecting with some of our past members soon too. If you’ve been thinking about joining (or rejoining), there’s never been a better time!
As a member, you’ll enjoy access to exclusive networking events, promotional opportunities, and a supportive local business community that genuinely wants to see you thrive.
So, come along to one of our events, have a chat with a committee member, and discover how the NBA can help you grow, connect, and be part of something exciting in Noosaville!

Membership Update
We’re thrilled to share some great news — our Association has seen a 40% increase in both new and renewed memberships over the past few months! This growth is a fantastic reflection of the value our community continues to provide and the strong support of our members.
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest members and a big thank you to our returning members who have renewed their commitment. Together, we are building an even stronger network for the future.

Is Your Business One Power Outage Away from Disaster?

Written by Mathew Hoffman
Picture this: It's peak trading hours on a busy Wednesday afternoon. Your pointof-sale system crashes, your phones go dead, and your internet connection vanishes. Your customers are waiting, your staff are panicking, and your revenue is evaporating by the minute. Welcome to the reality of an unexpected power outage – and it's more common than you think.
The Australian Reality Check
Australian businesses face power disruptions more frequently than most owners realise. From extreme weather events to aging infrastructure, our power grid faces constant pressure. The recent surge in severe weather patterns across Australia has made power outages increasingly unpredictable, and small to medium businesses are bearing the brunt of these disruptions.
Research shows power outages cost businesses globally over $150 billion annually. For Australian SMEs, even a few hours without power can mean thousands in lost revenue, spoiled inventory, and frustrated customers who might not return.
The Hidden Costs You Haven't Considered
Beyond the obvious loss of sales, power outages create cascading problems:
Data Loss: Unsaved work disappears, customer records become inaccessible, and ongoing projects hit walls. Without proper backup systems, you're essentially flying blind.
Equipment Damage: Power surges during restoration can fry expensive computers, servers, and point-of-sale systems. Replacement costs can run into thousands.
Customer Trust: In our always-connected world, customers expect businesses to be available. Repeated outages signal unreliability.
Compliance Issues: Many industries require continuous record-keeping. Power outages can create dangerous gaps in documentation.
Immediate Actions:
Invest in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for critical equipment
Set up automated cloud backups that sync in realtime
Create a mobile hotspot backup for internet connectivity
Establish clear communication protocols for staff during outages
Medium-term Solutions:
Develop a comprehensive business continuity plan
Consider backup generators for businesses with temperature-sensitive inventory
Review insurance policies to ensure power outage coverage
Train staff on emergency procedures and manual backup processes
Long-term Protection:
Migrate critical systems to cloud-based solutions that remain accessible from mobile devices
Implement redundant communication systems (multiple internet providers, VoIP systems with mobile backup)
Regular testing of all backup systems and recovery procedures

The Cloud Advantage
Here's where smart Australian businesses are gaining the edge: cloud-based systems. When your local power fails, cloud services keep running from multiple data centres with enterprise-grade backup power. Your team can access files, communicate with customers, and even process payments using mobile devices and backup internet connections.
Cloud-based backup and recovery isn't just about data protection – it's about business continuity. While your competitors scramble to restore systems, you're still serving customers and generating revenue.
Don't Wait for Disaster
The question isn't if your business will face a power outage – it's when. Every day you operate without proper backup and recovery systems, you're gambling with your business's future.

How
to Maximise Your Industrial
Asset’s
Appeal to Tenants in Noosaville
The Noosaville Industrial Estate continues to perform strongly, with limited supply and solid tenant demand across most sectors. But even in a tight market, presentation and functionality still make a difference.
Tenants today are looking for spaces that are practical, flexible, and easy to run their businesses from. Here are a few things that consistently help industrial properties in Noosaville lease faster and retain tenants for longer.
Presentation Counts
Industrial properties don’t need to be fancy, but they do need to look well cared for. Fresh paint, tidy landscaping, working roller doors, and clear signage all send the message that the property is well managed.
Small improvements in presentation often lead to fewer days on market and better tenant interest.

Functionality and Flexibility
Most tenants in Noosaville are small to medium local businesses — builders, manufacturers, trades, logistics operators — who need adaptable space.
Features that appeal include:
• Clear-span layouts with good internal height
• Room for mezzanines or offices
• Easy vehicle access and on-site parking
• Three-phase power and reliable internet
The more flexible the space, the easier it is to attract a wide range of tenants and keep them longer.

RWC
Sustainable and Cost-Efficient
Energy efficiency is becoming a bigger factor in tenant decisions, particularly in Noosa where sustainability is part of the local identity.
Solar panels, LED lighting, rainwater tanks, and insulation improvements all reduce running costs and appeal to tenants who value environmentally conscious operations.
Clear and Fair Lease Terms
Professional, transparent lease documents make a real difference. Clearly setting out who’s responsible for maintenance, offering reasonable terms, and being open about rent reviews helps build trust from the start.
Tenants who feel they’re being dealt with fairly are more likely to stay long-term and look after the property.
Maintain the Relationship
A good tenant is worth keeping. Regular communication, quick responses to maintenance issues, and a proactive approach to minor upgrades go a long way toward encouraging renewals.
Stable, long-term tenants provide better returns and less downtime — a simple but often overlooked advantage in a market like Noosaville.
Summary
The Noosaville Industrial Estate is one of the most tightly held industrial markets on the Sunshine Coast. Properties that are well presented, flexible, and sustainably designed continue to achieve the strongest results.
Even small improvements can lift the appeal of an asset and keep it performing well in an increasingly competitive environment.

Free help to cut business power bills launched
Noosa Shire Council has funded a new, free, independent service to help local businesses rein in rising energy costs and make the most of new technology.
Zero Emissions Noosa (ZEN) has appointed Josh Stevens as Noosa’s Business Energy Advisor to offer practical, nocost advice to small and medium enterprises across the shire.
Unlike sales reps, Josh doesn’t represent an energy retailer or equipment supplier. His brief is simple: help businesses use less energy, use it smarter, and invest in tech like solar, batteries and EV’s infrastructure when the numbers stack up.
Support includes quick efficiency reviews; assessing the business case for solar, batteries, EV chargers etc; indicative ROI to navigate rebates and market trends; and some of the strategic opportunities available.
“I’ll be asking about your typical trading hours, major appliances, tariff, and consumption data,” Josh said. “I’m looking for high-reward low-effort savings first.”

Preparation is minimal. “We start with a recent power bill and a sense of your daily operations and can go from there,” he said.
What’s in it for business? “Clarity, savings, and ultimately bottom line growth” Josh said. “In most cases these options can also lead to fantastic indirect benefits like business resilience (e.g. in blackout), customer attraction, branding and financing.”
“With energy markets shifting quickly, we want Noosa businesses to stay ahead of the curve.”
Local businesses are already saving thousands (see ZEN’s case studies) and this role will help even more businesses boost their bottom line while reducing emissions as a natural by-product.
To book a free advisory call, contact Josh Stevens at josh. stevens@zeroemissionsnoosa.com, or fill out the contact form to request a call back.

A Fresh Take on Small Business Marketing
When Abi Gatling started Crisp Marketing & Communications, it was with one goal in mind — to help great small businesses be seen, heard, and celebrated.
Having worked with hundreds of passionate business owners, Abi noticed a familiar story: marketing was often the first thing to fall off the to-do list when things got busy. “Most people start their business because they’re great at what they do, not because they want to spend their evenings writing social posts or editing websites,” she says. “That’s where we come in.”
A 2025 Sunshine Coast Business Awards finalist, Abi and her team act as an ‘outsourced marketing manager’, offering all the benefits of an in-house marketing team, without the extra headcount. They take care of the day-to-day marketing load, helping businesses attract, convert, and keep clients through thoughtful design, social media, newsletters, websites, and content that connects.
Crisp’s clients tend to be experts in their field, from advisers and coaches to local small businesses, who just

need help translating their skills and happy clients into a brand and message that cuts through. “We don’t do cookiecutter marketing,” Abi says. “We get to know our clients, their goals, and their tone of voice. Then we make sure their brand looks, feels and sounds as good as the work they do.”

And the name Crisp? Abi’s a self-confessed Crisp lover (Smith’s Original Crinkle Cut, for the record), and it perfectly reflects the team’s approach to marketing — clean, clear, and designed to cut through. Every Crisp project starts with a strategy designed to help businesses show up strongly in the world and resonate with the right people.

Why Stories and Communities Matter

By Luke Hawley CEO Buy Local Sunshine Coast

Stories and communities are what hold us together. They protect us, guide us, and remind us who we can trust.
On the Sunshine Coast, our business community thrives because of the stories we share — stories that help others find the right accountant, the right café, or the right tradie. When we share real experiences, we lift each other up and protect our region from the noise of algorithms and fake promises.
In a world of AI-generated content, trust has become the most valuable currency a business can have. People want to know you’re real — that your story, your reviews, and your reputation come from a genuine connection, not automation.
That’s what Buy Local Sunshine Coast is all about. It’s a place where local business owners and community members come together to share authentic stories, build trust, and strengthen local relationships. It’s more than a directory — it’s a growing movement that reminds us that behind every great business is a real person with a real story and offer.
If you own or manage a business on the Coast, we’d love to help you share your story.
