We are here to serve you, privileged to meet you, and can’t wait to share our wonderful community with you!

John Richmond Natchitoches Parish President

Hello, I’m Mayor Ronnie Williams, Jr., and I'm excited to give you a warm Natchitoches welcome! Natchitoches is my hometown, and I love Natchitoches. It’s where I met my lovely wife, Tiffany Williams. It’s where my three incredible children—Micah, Trae, and Maesie—were born. It’s my home, and literally where my heart is. I stand ready to declare that Natchitoches is the best small town in the entire United States of America. We have so much to be proud of, like Northwestern State University, Central Louisiana Technical Community College, historic sites, and so much more. We’ve got it all. Natchitoches is historic, yet modern. We have a small-town feel with a big city mindset. We’ve got the best Christmas Festival, the best food, and of course the best people around. Whether you are here to visit, for a world-class education, or to make Natchitoches your home, we are glad you’re here and we hope you enjoy your stay.

Ronnie Williams, Jr. City of Natchitoches Mayor

NATCHITOCHES:

small but mighty Natchitoches is a small town with a big reputation for good times, good food, and good people. Louisiana’s rich culture is known around the globe, and as the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, Natchitoches is a premier travel destination to "Feed Your Soul". Hundreds of thousands of tourists see just a glimpse of what residents enjoy year-round. The $4 million riverbank renovation located in nationally recognized historic downtown Natchitoches is one of the most beautiful concert and event venues in the state, making it the perfect backdrop for the many local festivals and events throughout the year. In the Mill District, bands and brews can be found most weekends at the local brewery, where historic preservation meets innovation in the beautifully remodeled cotton seed oil mill. The good times continue Down River, where residents have discovered the opportunity for gorgeous new construction homes with some of the best scenic views in the Parish, and restaurants, recreation, and attractions all within biking distance. Outdoor enthusiasts are living the dream in our many area lakes, rivers, hiking trails, and hunting leases. Of course, we work just as hard as we play. That tourism industry we’re so well known for makes up 10% of our local workforce. Manufacturing

accounts for 15%, with major industry players like Alliance Compressors, Pilgrim's, Weyerhaeuser, International Paper, and RoyOMartin choosing Natchitoches to set up shop. Agricultural sales in Natchitoches include cattle, crawfish, timber, soybeans, corn, and pecans, and the businesses that produce these goods thrive in Natchitoches Parish. Workforce development is a major focus of the Chamber of Commerce as well as local post-secondary educational institutions, including Northwestern State University and the Central Louisiana Technical and Community College. The healthcare climate of Natchitoches Parish has set the bar for rural healthcare systems across the state. In fact, the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center's award-winning model is emulated in other rural areas, making it a prime workplace for top talent from across the country. We may be biased, but we believe Natchitoches is the most charming and unique region of the state. You’ve probably enjoyed shopping along our bricklined Front Street, sampling the local cuisine with a famous Natchitoches meat pie, or staring up at the sky as the best fireworks show in the state reflects over the Cane River for our worldrenowned Christmas Festival. And beneath the surface of Christmas lights, meat pies, and Steel Magnolias, there are booming businesses and industries that take Natchitoches far beyond a tourist town, to a premier micropolitan destination to live, work, and play. Read on to learn all the ways Natchitoches Parish is thriving, and how you can make plans to Explore Natchitoches.

history &

CULTURE

where HISTORY LIVES It takes time to make a good gumbo. The longer you let it simmer, the deeper and more developed the flavor. So, too, the gumbo of cultures in Natchitoches - Louisiana's Oldest City, took time to simmer and evolve into the unique body of people who call this region home. Established in 1714 and positioned at the edge of two colonial empires in the New World, Natchitoches and the Cane River region served as a cultural crossroads for much of its early years. It became a place where American Indians, French, Spanish, African, and later AngloAmericans came together to create a way of life dependent on the land, the river, and each other. Our stories are brimming with the contrasts that comprise our nation's history—conquest and colonialism, militarism and peace, wealth and poverty, slavery, and freedom. Today, colonial forts like Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site and Los Adaes State Historic Site depict life on these early outposts. Downriver the Cane River National Heritage Trail, a Louisiana Scenic Byway, follows the winding river roads lined with majestic oak trees and pecan orchards that provide glimpses into the past. Here one can find stately creole architecture mixed in with the traces of a thriving agricultural industry dominated by cotton, cattle, and pecans. At the Cane River Creole National Historical Park, generations of the same families of owners and

workers, enslaved and tenant, lived on these lands for over 200 years. The park tells their stories and preserves Oakland and Magnolia Plantations, two of the most intact Creole cotton plantations in the United States. A National Historic Landmark, Melrose Plantation contains nine historic buildings, including the African House, which houses a collection by worldfamous African American folk artist Clementine Hunter. On the Isle Brevelle Trail, St. Augustine Catholic Church is the spiritual center and heart of the Cane River Creole community, where the Creole traditions and practices extend beyond attending church services on Sunday to include fairs, trail rides, and candlelight vigils. Our Creole heritage is the secret ingredient that sets us apart from north Louisiana. The careful preservation and restoration of heritage sites and traditions have created many rare opportunities for visitors to experience Natchitoches's history and gain insights into the diverse cultures that continue to influence the city today. The City of Natchitoches and the beautiful Cane River possesses a captivating charm that echoes the past and calls to the future. A place where history lives and where history is made.

creativity ABOUNDS Natchitoches is a hub for artistic expression in Louisiana. Many artists are inspired by our rich heritage and history. The Cane River country was once home to the Natchitoches Art colony, which was one of the most popular of its kind in the South, attracting notable artists such as William Faulkner and William Spratling. In modern times, the Melrose Arts and Crafts festival attracts over 100 artists each year. Natchitoches is the birthplace of famed artists Clementine Hunter and Kate Chopin, whose works have achieved international recognition. Tourists and locals alike can enjoy learning about the history of Natchitoches arts and culture at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum and at our national historical sites. One can also find galleries full of the works of local artists at the Natchitoches Art Guild and Gallery, Local Flavor, and other such shops and galleries in our historic district. At Northwestern State University (NSU), the brilliance and creativity of students blends with time-honored traditions in annually anticipated productions and exhibitions. Each year during the beloved Natchitoches Christmas season, more than 300 students, faculty and staff of the NSU School of Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) combine their talents to present the Christmas Gala. Large crowds attend the Gala each year.

Throughout the year, CAPA performs and hosts symphonies, concerts, musicals, and plays, all of which are open to the public. Community members are also able to enjoy the Orville J. Hanchey Gallery, which features exhibitions of professional works by internationally, nationally, and regionally acclaimed artists working in all media. The film art scene is perhaps the most celebrated aspect of Natchitoches arts. Natchitoches is wellknown around the world as the film location and the inspiration for the iconic movie, Steel Magnolias. First a play, and then an award-winning film, Steel Magnolias is now a cornerstone of our culture and art scene. Filmmakers are still drawn by the preserved history and natural beauty of Natchitoches, which is under the umbrella of the state's motion picture production tax credit that reimburses film and TV producers up to 40% of the cost of their in-state productions. Each year the Cane River Film Festival encourages the development of all aspects of the creative arts in and around Natchitoches through the cinema experience. Tourists can enjoy visiting the film scene locations on the Natchitoches Film Trail, which is available through the Natchitoches Convention and Visitors Bureau.

cane river CUISINE Ask anyone why they love Louisiana, and you might hear “The food!” One prominent aspect of Louisiana culture is the unique food prepared by generations of families, cooks, and chefs. The delicious fare ranges from boudin to beignets, po’boys to pralines, and crawfish étouffée to king cakes. Louisianians take their food culture seriously, and this pride is evident to nearly every tourist who visits our state. Tourists often visit Louisiana because of the food. Although the COVID-19 pandemic impacted tourism in Louisiana, tourism's economic benefits to the state were still significant. In 2020, food and beverage accounted for the highest percentage of tourists' spending by category, at 30% or $3 Billion, well above transportation (18%, $1.8 Billion) and lodging (14%, $1.4 Billion). Over 139,000 (5%) jobs in Louisiana were sustained by tourism in 2020. Clearly, our food culture benefits our state by infusing tourism dollars. As hospitality and culinary educators, faculty recognize the importance of teaching Northwestern State University (NSU) Hospitality Management students about our unique

food culture and how it draws tourists to our state, especially to Natchitoches. In Natchitoches, our food scene is fortunate to include fare such as Natchitoches meat pies and other specialties on the Natchitoches Food Trail (opposite page) that you can only find here. Currently, the region has a variety of restaurants on and off the beaten path, with several new restaurants that opened in 2021. The Hospitality Management & Tourism program at NSU is excited about the future of the food scene in Natchitoches and has worked to enhance both culinary and hospitality education. Three years ago, Columns Café was started to implement another experiential learning opportunity in the program and provide even more hands-on learning to students in a realworld setting. Once a month, local diners enjoy themed meals prepared from scratch by students in a fine dining setting. Chef John Carriere and other local chefs have begun the process to establish a local chapter of the American Culinary Federation, a professional organization for chefs and cooks with the goal of bringing together professional chefs and NSU culinary students for regular meetings. Future plans of the program include a fall festival featuring locally prepared gourmet food. This festival will feature the talents of local chefs and hospitality and culinary students.

culture SELLS There is no place in the world like Louisiana. Something about the culture – the music, the people, the food – gets in your bones and truly does “feed your soul.” It’s part of the reason so many people travel to the boot state each year. Over 31 million visited Louisiana in 2020. According to Louisiana Tourism, Louisiana's generated visitor spending in 2020 would buy 111 pounds of crawfish tails for each Louisiana visitor.

location ADVANTAGE Life on the bayou may conjure up images of Creole food, music, and “dancin’ in the kitchen ‘til the morning light,” and honestly that’s a pretty accurate picture. However, it’s also a place where hard work, innovation, and a strong sense of place combine with the wonder of modern connectivity as the perfect ingredients for growing a worldclass business. Long before the bayou state had boot shaped borders, Natchitoches was bustling with trade and commerce. Founded as a trading post over three centuries ago, Natchitoches is both the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, and the only stand-alone micropolitan area in Louisiana. The location advantage of being situated centrally in the state, with access to key waterways and highways has appealed to a variety of businesses over the years, from some of the top-producing manufacturers in the region, to some of the oldest family-owned businesses in the country. Today Natchitoches Parish covers 1,252 square miles, making it the third largest parish in the state.

check out the Google feature on LA Crawfish Co. Natchitoches is the regional hub for medical, education, and manufacturing sectors, and is also home to a thriving tourism industry that champions charm. It’s where the past and future meet; where rich culture and niche markets combine with cutting-edge innovation to create a proudly unique business community. It’s where multi-million-dollar industries have built on traditions older than the borders of the parish. It’s sunrises spent knee-deep in muddy waters catching crawfish and checking nets, and sunsets spent filming commercials for Google, the History Channel, and Southwest Airlines.

certified LOUISIANA Consumers crave authenticity; they want a trueLouisianan experience. In today’s world of copy and paste and ready-made knockoffs, it can be challenging to gauge the authenticity of a product. In 2018, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry established The Certified Louisiana, Certified Cajun, Certified Creole, Certified Craft Beverage and Certified Farm to Table logo program, which serves to brand and promote authentic Louisiana commodities. This program

advertises Louisiana made, grown, manufactured or processed products. When you purchase a Certified Louisiana product, you are supporting a Louisiana business and Louisiana family, while keeping your dollars at home and helping the local economy. community COMPETITIVENESS

Natchitoches is a participant in community programs that focus on giving our parish a competitive advantage by continuously developing the local workforce and economy.

DEVELOPMENT READY COMMUNITY The Louisiana Development Ready Communities (LDRC) Program was kickstarted in 2009 by Louisiana Economic Development to encourage and support Louisiana communities to become development ready, competitive and “open for business” by creating and implementing a strategic community and economic development plan. Each community’s plan includes strategies to address education, workforce development, infrastructure, leadership, and marketing / communications. Natchitoches has been a participant in this program since 2010.

WORK READY COMMUNITY Since 2016, Natchitoches Parish has been a certified Work Ready Community. ACT Work Ready Communities (WRC) empower communities with data, processes, and tools that drive economic growth. 28 | Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce

Participants leverage the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) to measure and close the skills gap. Making a bad hire can be expensive, costing a business training time and money, not to mention lost productivity. Hiring candidates with an NCRC assures they will have the foundational skills required to quickly learn job‐specific skills. Using the NCRC can even help identify skill gaps, training, and promotion opportunities for current employees. Currently there are 39 employers in Natchitoches Parish who recognize or recommend the ACT WorkKeys NCRC. Individuals wanting to take the WorkKeys test in Natchitoches Parish should contact Barbara Leach at the Louisiana Workforce Commission by emailing bleach@lwc.la.gov. Employers can sign up to participate in the program at workreadycommunities.org/business/form.

travel TRENDS

for our communities. Visitors traveling to Louisiana in 2020 spent nearly $371 per person during their trip.

Tourism is a major economic driver in Natchitoches, and while travel trends have shifted drastically since 2020, Natchitoches has adapted seamlessly. A variety of outdoor venues and activities, the rural nature of the region, and the stellar 300+ year reputation as a great place to visit have all contributed to Natchitoches Parish remaining one of the top tourist destinations in the state. While travel came to a halt in the spring of 2020, Natchitoches Parish only saw a dip of 6.27% in hotel/motel taxes collected in 2020 compared to 2019. The Natchitoches tourism industry more than recovered that minor dip in 2021, where hotel/motel taxes grew 25.11% compared to 2020, and 17.27% compared to prepandemic 2019 numbers. Those heads in beds equal economic development

Signature local outdoor attractions like Fort Saint Jean Baptitste State Park saw a marked increase in visitors from the previous year. In 2021, the Fort had over 6,133 visitors, a 73% increase compared to 2020. Other outdoor recreation locations like Kisatchie Bayou and Longleaf Vista noted an uptick in visitors enjoying their amenities. Parc Natchitoches multisport complex remained steady with travel baseball and softball tournaments as large as 40 teams. The latter part of 2021 saw the return in full capacity of many of our local festivals and events including Blooming on the Bricks (pictured above), the Natchitoches Classic Car Show, and the Natchitoches Christmas Festival. Spectator crowds for all three events notably increased in 2021, pumping dollars into local retailers, restaurants and attractions.

living OFF THE LAND From the small homeowner’s hobby farms and gardens, to some of the top producing contributors to the local economy, Natchitoches Parish is home to a diverse agricultural landscape. In 2019, it was estimated that the value of agriculture in Natchitoches was over $158.3 million, with top-producing products like forestry, cattle & calves, and poultry accounting for 70% of the total. Our commercial crops include corn, soybeans, rice and wheat. Animal agriculture represents a large piece of the pie, with our parish being home to some of the leading cattle producers, as well as smaller operations that include goats, sheep, and pigs. A leading global provider of high-quality food products, the Natchitoches Pilgrims facility is one of the world's

largest poultry producers. With the vast forests that cover most of Natchitoches parish, it is not hard to believe that our parish is a key contributor to the largest agricultural commodity in the state: forestry. We are home to several major players within the global forestry industry, including the largest plywood mill in North America. Located in Chopin, RoyOMartin owns 68,000 acres of land in Natchitoches Parish. Our local schools are invested in agricultural workforce development. The active local chapters of ag-focused student organizations help develop agricultural skills and act as a conduit to agricultural-based careers. The 4-H program partners with local farmers and community gardens to allow for hands on learning opportunities. The FFA programs introduce students to new technology, new ways to grow things, and ag-based careers.

we make GOOD STUFF In homes across the country, people enjoy cool air produced by an air conditioner compressor from Alliance Compressors, or a home cooked meal made with a rotisserie chicken that started at Pilgrim's. They enjoy well built homes with patented TJI joists from Weyerhaeuser and highquality furniture with A-grade plywood from RoyOMartin. They receive shipments in the mail packaged in boxes that started from cardboard at International Paper, and drink water filtered by activated carbon from ADA Carbon Solutions. The common thread between these manufacturers is that they all proudly choose Natchitoches Parish to do business. Manufacturing accounts for 15% of the workforce in the parish. Natchitoches is proud to support its manufacturers and help them thrive through tax incentives like the Louisiana Industrial Tax Exemption Program (ITEP), where a manufacturer

can save 80% of taxes due in a new capital investment that extends the life of the facility and retains or adds jobs. This allows companies to remain competitive in a global marketplace that is constantly searching for the lowest cost of doing business. It also helps Natchitoches residents thrive. The average weekly wages of Natchitoches Parish manufacturing jobs are higher than 73% of the rest of the workforce in the parish. Manufacturers also thrive in Natchitoches thanks to our natural resources, low cost of doing business, workforce training programs, and transportation infrastructure. One of the largest economic engines in the region, the Natchitoches Parish Port moves over 500,000 tons of material on average each year, including wood chips, activated carbon, asphalt, rubber chips, and frac sand. Interstate 49 runs directly through Natchitoches Parish, connecting Shreveport to Lafayette and granting easy access to manufacturers. Also, the Natchitoches Regional Airport (IER) is an FAA award-winning airport providing both general and corporate aviation services.

The large medical community also has a major economic impact on the parish by providing wellpaying jobs and supporting other local businesses. The healthcare industry serves as a cornerstone of the community and has helped make Natchitoches a great place for businesses and for raising families.

healthcare PIPELINE NCHS EMT Program

Natchitoches Central High School hosts six Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) classes per year (3 per semester) and has taught one Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course in 2019 as an after school program. They have partnered with CLTCC, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, Natchitoches Parish Emergency Medical Services, Acadian Ambulance, Pafford Medical Services, Air Evac, Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, and the Louisiana Poison Control to assist in teaching and sharing information to the students. The EMR program generates up to fifty licensed EMRs per semester. Most students continue into medical professions, attend nursing school, or work with volunteer fire departments. The ability to have these courses in our local community is crucial to helping fill healthcare staffing shortages throughout the state and the nation.

CLTCC Nursing Program The Central Louisiana Technical and Community College (CLTCC) Natchitoches Campus Practical Nursing (PN) program has graduated close to 700 LPN's since the inception of the program in 1968. In addition, the LPN program boasts a 100% placement rate after graduation. CLTCC prepares students to meet the licensure requirements for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as established by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse

Examiners. The program consists of classroom instruction, lab practicum, and supervised clinical activities in local accredited hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care agencies. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) program consists of classroom and lab instruction as well as supervised/preceptor clinical activities. Upon successful completion of this competency-based program, students may be eligible to take certification exams in Phlebotomy, Nursing Assistant, Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, and/or PCT.

NSU Nursing Program

Northwestern State University offers the Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) on the Natchitoches campus from start to finish, so students no longer have to go to another campus for their clinical experience. NSU currently has four full time faculty and three adjunct faculty on the Natchitoches campus, with one of the faculty positions being funded by the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Foundation. NSU uses local hospital facilities (both NRMC and Louisiana Extended Care) for clinical locations. Only twenty students are admitted to the Natchitoches campus per semester to the nursing program. NSU boasts a 100% employment rate for all BSN students post-graduation and had an NCLEX pass rate of 98% for the 2019 program, which is above the national average of 88%.

#togetherwecan Beginning with early childhood education and flowing through high school and college, successful schools provide the foundation for a flourishing community, strong citizenry, and thriving businesses. Whereas the global pandemic has challenged the economic and educational landscape, there are exciting new initiatives blooming within our Natchitoches communities. The challenges of the pandemic have led to important but unexpected growth. Tremendous strides in technology access within schools and broadband availability in the parish’s rural areas have emerged during the last 2 years. Natchitoches Parish schools now boast a 1:1 iPad to student ratio. State and federal funds are providing additional access to families for affordable high-quality childcare and early education. Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) funds have been distributed to NSU and CLTCC students. Both CARES and CRRSAA funds allowed students to offset tuition and living expenses, providing an avenue to continue their education during a difficult economic season. A program of the Natchitoches Parish Early Childhood Network, Ready Start Natchitoches (RSN) is a coalition of individuals committed to creating and implementing a bold local vision for early childhood. Funded by state and federal grants, this organization’s goals include increasing access to affordable, high-quality childcare and education; improving and retaining childcare

professionals in area centers; and improving quality of early learning sites within Natchitoches Parish. An education initiative of the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce, the A+ Coalition works to bring members of the community together to advance education in Natchitoches Parish. The A+ Coalition aims to attract great teachers, support teaching excellence, promote student achievement, and engage the business community. Local businesses and agencies offer grant opportunities to teachers, student organizations, and groups for innovative programming. For example, Weyerhaeuser, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, Cane River National Heritage Area, and Super 1 all awarded grants within the last academic year to support local educational initiatives. The A+ Coalition revamped a technology program geared to technology projects in local schools. Natchitoches Parish is fully committed to the advancement, growth, and support of education in our community. We know that “together we can” achieve the best possible educational attainment of our citizens.

80% of brain development happens before the age of three; 85-90% by age five. Children who participate in early childhood programs are more likely to graduate from high school, be employed and earn higher wages. For these reasons, Natchitoches works continually on the progress of its Natchitoches Parish Early Childhood Network (NPECN), which serves children in their preschool years, birth through age 4. These programs work collaboratively with families and the community to provide high quality, developmentally appropriate, early childhood education that will meet the diverse needs of all participating children and prepare them for a positive and successful educational experience. NPECN has 20 early childhood sites: 6 public schools, 9 private Type III centers, and 5 Head Start centers, all of which participate in rigorous teacher training and evaluation to ensure our earliest learners are receiving a quality education. In fact, 100% of our early learning centers use a Tier 1 curriculum and 68% of our early learning teachers have a Certified Child Development Associates (CDA), a Bachelor of Arts, or higher. Not only does Natchitoches Parish offer excellence in education for our earliest learners, but thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Early Childhood Network, tuition assistance is available for Natchitoches citizens. Free tuition is available to 53 children birth through 3, plus partially paid tuition assistance is available to over 200 children birth through age 12. For more information, to enroll your child, or to apply for tuition assistance, visit teachingtomorrownow.com.

k-12 EDUCATION

Louisiana School for Math, Science & the Arts LSMSA – also referred to as the Louisiana School – has been educating Louisiana’s most highly motivated, high-achieving students since 1983. Through a rigorous admissions process, the unique state-supported, residential high school enrolls sophomores, juniors, and seniors who represent the state’s ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity. Dedicated to providing all eligible students with a rigorous education, the school works with gifts to the LSMSA Foundation to ensure educational opportunities are available despite any financial constraints. Ranked by Niche in 2020 as the sixth best public high school faculty in the nation, instructors at the Louisiana School are committed to educating, mentoring, and supporting the school's young scholars. Faculty – more than 76% of whom hold a PhD, MFA, or the equivalent terminal degree – devote an additional 10 hours a week to individual tutoring, research, and mentoring outside of classroom instruction. University-level courses are taught on a traditional college semester system using collegiate texts. In addition, all students are required to contribute three hours of supervised work each week, helping to cultivate a positive work ethic and develop essential life skills. The total immersion learning experience and topquality education found at LSMSA are only possible in the school’s unique living-learning environment, where professional residential life staff assist helping students develop skills necessary for success at LSMSA and beyond. from the CHAIRMAN

from the PRESIDENT

For nearly eight years, I have been a proud volunteer for the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce. It has been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to sit on the steering committees of all three of the Chamber’s key community initiatives: Natchitoches Young Professionals (NYP), A+ Coalition, and Leadership Natchitoches. These initiatives along with our organization’s programs and events foster economic and community growth. NYP helps attract and retain talent for our employers. The A+ Coalition has built bridges between business and education to celebrate and encourage the success of both our students and our educators. Leadership Natchitoches is cultivating our community's best and brightest into leaders that have synergistic knowledge of the opportunities and challenges unique to our parish. Through these key initiatives, we are making Natchitoches a thriving business community.

I am a huge believer in the impact of the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce because I have the privilege of hearing first-hand from our members when our work impacts their business. The Chamber serves as a pivotal resource for local businesses and community support, serving each member differently according to their individual needs. Through a variety of programming and technology, our goal is for our members to find their place in our business climate, grow their business through tax incentives, advertising, networking opportunities, and more, and impact our community through Chamber initiatives.

The Chamber is at its core a network of leaders, doers, and dreamers who care about the place where they live and work. Become a partner in making a difference, and join the Chamber today!

Vanner Erikson 2022 Chamber Chairman

In this section, you will read about just a few of the ways the Natchitoches Chamber impacts our community, with some of my personal favorites being the Natchitoches Young Professionals, the A+ Coalition, and Leadership Natchitoches. I invite you to join us in our mission to make the Natchitoches area a thriving business community by promoting commerce, strengthening people, and improving life. Join the Chamber, get engaged, stay informed, and become part of the progress.

Laura Lyles Chamber President

community INITIATIVES

Attracting and retaining young professionals in the Natchitoches area is pivotal to growth and innovation in the region. NYP works to strengthen and engage local young professionals through targeted networking, professional development, and philanthropy. Millennials and Gen Z care deeply about quality of life and improving the world around them. NYP offers a platform to drive those conversations locally.

Chamber membership not only benefits you and your business, but also the community in which you live, work, and play. The Chamber makes the Natchitoches area a thriving business community through these initiatives.

The Chamber recognizes the importance of education to the success and growth of our community, and understands that the responsibility lies not only on the shoulders of our educators, but on the entire community at large. The A+ Coalition offers a platform for organizations and individuals to get involved, stay informed, and give of their time and resources to make an impact on education in the parish.

Leadership Natchitoches is an immersive learning program for leaders in our community that engages and activates participants to effect change. This diverse group of professionals becomes one class and one voice through the 8-month program. Graduates gain first-hand knowledge of the issues facing our region and the potential for a positive community impact through volunteerism and civic engagement.
