Mr and Miss Walvis Bay Crowned Leandrea Louw

"Lights, cameras, action!" The crowd waited in anticipation for the 24 guys and girls who were taking part in the beauty pageant for the titles of Mr and Miss Walvis Bay.

The event in the Walvis Bay town hall started off on an energetic beat, setting the mood for the evening. Artists such as JR Cupido, ‘The Unknowns’, Vicente and Sharron Isaacks brought a whole new feel to the beauty pageant. The artists recreated scenes from songs such as Whiz Khalifa’s "See you again''. The theme for the night was ‘Royals’, and in the opening the ladies wore princess gowns and the guys were dressed as royal ushers. Thereafter the guys first appeared in their sport & career wear where we saw the likes of a basketball player, athlete, construction worker and even an underwear model. The girls appeared in their swim wear and later on in their casual wear. A live band also entertained the crowd during the break. Mr Public Choice was Lucian Bampton and Ms Public Choice was Shanique Louw. The voting for Mr and Miss Public Choice started two

weeks ago on Facebook. Mis Photogenic was Rollinia Shahungu and Mr Photogenic was Jason Swartz. The nine guys were also auctioned off to the single ladies and the guys collected an amount of N$5 400 which will go to a local charity. The reigning Miss Walvis Bay, Monique Smith, also expressed her gratitude to everyone who had supported her during her reign as Miss Walvis Bay and Miss Tourism. The top 5 finalists for the title of Miss Walvis Bay, was Martha Kamukwantaange, Anna Shaapopi, Rolinia Shahuunga, Shanique Louw and Luaan De Wee. The top 5 finalists for the title of King was Anzo Losper, Jean-Pierre Truter, Pablo Ringquest, JeanClaude Truter and Lucian Bampton. They were all asked the same question, namely, if they only had one day more to live, who would they spend their last day with, and what question would they ask this person

- it could be someone dead, or alive. The winners were announced and Lucian Bampton was crowned as second prince, Jean- Claude Truter was crowned as first prince, and Jean-Pierre Truter, was crowned as the King, Mr Walvis Bay. For the ladies, second princess was Luaan De Wee, first princess was Shanique Louw and Anna Shaapopi was crowned as Miss Walvis Bay. As part of her sponsorship, Mary Shikongo, the owner of Face of Namibia, gave Anna an automatic entry into Face of Namibia. The judges, Sakkie Mouton, Lizane Thiersen, Anna Showa, Melvin Cloete, Megan Wentzel, Charmell Pesquiera and Mary Shikongo, judged the guys and ladies on charm, appearance and style. Rumours abound that the winners might find themselves in Italy during September this year. The event was described as Anna Shaapopi, Miss Walvis Bay, Mary a huge success. Shikongo and Mr Walvis Bay, Jean- Pierre Truter
